It seems since this restaurant has went under new ownership the quality is a bit lax. I know that the previous owner was often (if not always) also the chef and took much pride in providing a quality meal.
we ate here today and here is my report:
we arrived around 11:30am on a sunday and there were a few families in there and a few people at the counter.
The coffee was good, the hash browns were pretty good (they were well done and i like then that way, some may have thought they were burnt). the toast was not very toasted, the amount of butter was fine with me.
the eggs for the most part were good (i ordered over medium), there were some runny parts to the egg whites which i do not like and when i found this i stopped eating them.
the bacon was ok, but fatty and undercooked in some parts, i just ate around it.
the cups and silverware were clean. this is a big deal for me as i will get up and leave if i am given dirty dishes.
the waitress was friendly and coffee refills were prompt.
i noticed all of the photos hanging on the walls were crooked and this bothered me. i also noticed the wooden chairs were getting scraped up and scuffed also.
the food was reasonably priced also.
and we did witness a couple of unprofessional things; a waitress was arguing with a man in front of the restaurant when we were walking in, then later on we saw a male kissing and groping a female in the hall next to the kitchen which was in plain view of our table and another table in the restaurant.
my husband seemed to enjoy his breakfast; scrambled eggs, sausage patties and toast.
overall an okay restaurant.
We tried this place today for the first time this past weekend. We came around brunch time, and found the place half empty. You can tell this place has been around sometime due to the aging pictures on the wall, the cruddy looking rug, and general look of shoddiness all around. We sat ourselves and scoped out the menu, which featured homemade biscuits and gravy, normally a plus in my book.
I ordered a whole order of biscuits and gravy with two eggs scrambled with cheese, while the wife had blueberry pancakes and a side of link sausage. While we waited for our food, we noticed lots of junk on the floor, including a baby's pacifier. We can only assume the weekly rug cleaning crew had not been by recently. The food did come quickly and was served hot of the griddle. Right away I noticed the unusual texture of the sausage gravy, which was a lumpy, grayish white mix with fleck of red pepper in it. A couple quick bite quickly concluded that not only was this homemade, but a poorly made version of this dish. The best term I can use to describe it is "chalky", as if they took some flour, water, sausage grease, and red pepper flakes, mixed it in a bowl then microwaved it to be served. It was horrible. The biscuits were dry and floury on the bottom, so I assume they came from a bag and were not homemade. The eggs, well, they must use the smallest size available, if not liquid egg mix. Normally you can see some white in scrambled eggs, but these looked like they came pre-made. I should have asked for grated cheddar cheese to be mixed in with them as they were cooked, but due to my lack of clarification, I received them with a slice of American cheese on top. Another loser for me was the weak coffee. I hate weak coffee and while I don't expect a small diner to bring out the grinder, at least make a pot of coffee that doesn't taste like muddy water.
My wife enjoyed her blueberry pancakes for what it is worth. She likes the berries actually cooked in instead of the usual blueberry syrup mess that gets dumped on top at other places. The link sausage was pretty good too, but that's about as good as it gets for our breakfast here.
I have heard that the pulled pork here is worth going for, but we are going to find it hard to bring ourselves back to try it. The glance of the kitchen I got as I paid at the counter made me regret eating what I just ate. Ironically, they had written on their special board that if you give them a review on Yelp!, you can get 10% off your next meal. I'm not sure I would take them up on that offer based on this review. I also suspect that the other reviews on here are from the people who either work here, or are related to the owners because nobody in their right mind would give this place 3 stars, let alone 5 stars, unless they had never eaten anywhere else in their life.
We used to come here often. The place had good food, efficient service, and a healthy bit of character, until it went under new ownership and they replaced all their staff - by hiring all their friends. The restaurant went downhill after that. I'd like to write a more positive review, but it just isn't possible when the eggs are chalky and the toast is dripping in butter, and not toasted at all.

Meet the Business Owner: Bill T.
My family has been in this business for over 40 years and I have a passion for good homemade food. Most of our recipes come from my mother Etta, she always could make something tasty from whatever was in the fridge and I love making new things all the time. Some specials will vary, I may do a beef stew on one day and moms Sloppy Joe's another. I love being creative.
