Awesome pizza!... I guess. Truth is, neither my husband nor I had the pizza.
Regardless, this Big Italian Restaurant was a pleasant surprise. My husband and I were in search for a place to eat before our movie started. We were starving and thought pizza was a good idea. We were so hungry we ordered cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer while we waited for our food. We decided to order either a stromboli or calzone instead of pizza . The prices were so reasonable we thought we wouldn't be able to share (we ordered both) ... and boy were we wrong. Not only were they a cheesy deliciousness, but they were huge. Definitely enough for us to share; and that is saying a lot because my husband can eat. Next time I think we'll order one or the other and some garlic bread... or we might try pizza... or those huge pasta dishes we saw.... whatever we decide on I know we will be back for sure!
p.s the cannolis were heaven
Oh! Almost forgot! Service is A+. Super friendly staff and seem genuinely interested in your satisfaction. -

HOLY COW. I've been here once and the slices are huge! great sauce, awesome dough, the place inside isn't very nice but you can enjoy your HUMUNGO slice outside under the umbrellas. I took my little sister here and they were a little less than 4 bucks a slice?
Definitely worth a stop! -

What an unexpected and glorious find!
My colleagues and I needed to refuel. What better idea to do the trick than with a slice of pizza? OMG! Where have you been all of my life? It's freaking delicious! I haven't seen a slice so enormous! I ordered the meat slice, the flavor could do with one vegetable topping. The crust was what did it for me. It was hot and had the perfect amount of fluff like a milano cookie. Let me tell you folks, not many things compare to milano cookies. I haven't had a slice of pizza with so much texture and at such a decent price! GAD DAYUM! -

Being that I am originally from New York, I am very picky about my pizza. Many pizzarias claim that their pizza tastes just like New York pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised that this pizza actually does. I am a local here in Fairview and dine here at least once a week. Portions are very large and prices very reasonable. Trust me, you will walk away a full happy customer. Staff is also very friendly and personable...

Pizza is HUGE - seriously, don't over order or think you can finish 2 slices.. you can't ! You can't beat a salad, drink, and ginormous slice of home cooked pizza for under 8 bucks. It's filling, delish, made fresh and not skimpy by any means ! The calzone could feed 3 - no lies !

I really wanted to like this place. Really.
I've only been there once- and that was the LAST time I will ever be going there. I ordered a pizza. Yummy. No complaints.
However, I think their cleanliness is a HUGE issue. I ordered my pizza to-go, so I was standing up, waiting for my order. I began watching the cooks make salads. One younger guy took out RAW chicken, diced it, threw it on the pan to cook. He proceeded to cut up lettuce with the same knife- without washing or rinsing the knife. I honestly can't believe that happened. That poses a HUGE health risk to the public. Disgusting. -

Okay, this is good pizza, and has some good price. But I have to recount what experience I've had about this restaurant to everyone who wants to know.
I went in, wanted to have some pizza in between jobs. I asked for to-go because I didn't want to be late. I waited a couple minutes, and once I get my pizza, I decide to go to a table and put some cheese and pepper, then have a small bite.
Suddenly the owner, I believe Evelyn, screams at me saying I got to have a plate before I go down to eat or leave. I didn't know he was talking to me, so he proceeded screaming at me. Then it was just a resounding "LEAVE MY BUILDING OR I'LL CALL THE COPS!" Finally I figured out he was talking to me, and said, "Excuse me, why am I being shooed away?"
He just kept barking at me, even calling me discriminatory names. He said he will never serve me again because I was being an ass. I go to the checkout lady and asked for a refund, and she said they don't give them out, and she can't do anything about it. I look around and everyone was staring at me, and even notice a mother with two children sitting right at the checkout stand, possibly wondering if this was a safe environment to be in.
I leave, and thought about pressing charges for a while to the restaurant, but I guess I came to the realization that that would be paying too much for my whistle. I'll let this go; but advise everyone not to go to this place simply for the fact that the owner went personal with me even when I spoke few words in the first place. I never realized that we can't have boxes in restaurants, but he didn't have to go the length he did to put that out there. I don't know if he had something against Asians or something, or he had a bad day; but that was very unprofessional and I wish for him to know that there are better ways to communicate that to other people. -

Perhaps too much New York at this "hole in wall" pizza establishment.
Prices are very reasonable but on a recent Friday evening, while waiting for my order, an argument erupted between a portly, middle aged employee and a 20 something male customer. The employee started yelling, "get the Hell out, I'm not giving your money back and I am the boss!".
The pizza , the 16" combination, was too salty and the ingredients hidden by a thick layer of what looked like cheese was very low quality.
While waiting beer was unavailable; pizza w/out beer?!
They had a decent crowd but if you are a pizza connoisseur, avoid this place and throw a frozen pizza on a pizza stone in your own oven and chill a 6-pack!!!
I guess that's why they list 2 names; to confuse!!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

OK, my husband and I are both Italian, he is from Pittsburgh and I am from Chicago. My family is still coming over to America from Italy and I cook everything from scratch. I actually use to make meatballs on Saturday for a deli in Chicago and I would have a line out the door all day long. Enough of that. The food at Evelyn's was very good for take out Italian, the portions were huge and there was no way my husband and I could have finished what we ordered. The owner was not the nicest guy in the world but his employees were so friendly and so helpful. They treated us like we were the only patrons in the place and it was full. Needless to say we will be back next time I don't feel like cooking dinner.
Don't take the owner personally he is just a grumpy man. Go for the food and the employees who work there are the best, they made us feel very welcome and took care of us like no place we have been to since we moved out to CA. -

I've never been to NY, I've never had "NY style pizza", but I like the pizza at Evelyn's! Thin, crispy crust and fresh ingredients. Had the NY Combination and it was yumm.
The servers are friendly and enjoyable.
We were there while they had a large party in the back room, which I assume is why we had one minor "snafoo" in our experience. The server handled it perfectly. I will refrain from any details because ultimately we left happy and if the large, bald man that appeared to be in charge is the owner (he is a jerk as previously noted in reviews), he doesn't need any ammo against the staff that I witnessed him treating poorly! -

Cheap, massive slices of awesome New York style pizza.
I've been to Evelyn's a few times with friends and have left full and impressed every time. In fact, we brought a pizza home once that wouldn't fit through our door! (It was delicious for all three days it took to eat it!)
The staff is friendly and in good humor. It's clean and bright with a bit of spunk.
I look forward to trying some of the amazing looking pasta I saw going out before our pizza last time.
I recommend their pesto sauce! -

I really like this place. I have done take-out and order-in, both times I've been pleased. The staff are always friendly and the pizza has been consistently good.
My pizza of choice is usually Canadian Bacon and Pineapple.
Slices are huge, drinks are bottomless as long as you eat in. On a warm breezy day it's nice to sit outside. We sat outside this past Sunday and I felt like I was in my home town of Colma, it was quiet and relaxing. -

I am addicted to their gnocchi! i never liked it before but Evelyn's is the best with meatballs and their amazing sauce for under $12! It is a single portion but had it for lunch and snack too. The woman who works their is always so nice to us and I feel soo bad not knowing her name. I will have to change that the next time I go.
If you can't decide get the pasta combo! and you get their light as a cloud bread with oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. -

Oh silly me, I didn't write a review for Evelyn's? I truly apologize; it must be from the food coma I get after leaving here that my tummy is in euphoria. I eat here more than I check-in. This place keeps it REAL I adore the art of the tomato in all it's formations.
Let me start by talking about their salad. The tomatoes are marinated in some magnificent Italian concoction where you really don't need salad dressing but just because I enjoy juicy I ask for the Italian vinaigrette. Spring greens are tossed with those tasty tomatoes and wah-la tickles are born!
The pizza is a New York thin crust style. You get a generous slice and some of the toppings are added after the cheese has melted. My favorites are Meat Combo and just plain Cheese. I've also tried the meatball sandwich. Three large meatballs with melted mozzarella cheese and the marinara sauce on the side is YUM (notice the capital letters).
I thought the pizza portions were huge the pasta portions are ginormous! I ordered to-go the following: Zita with red clam sauce for my husband and Pasta Combo for me. Well you know those foil catering trays like 8 1/2x 11. Imagine that filled with hot mouth watering food and three slices of homemade garlic bread that's one serving!
Oh and they have a 32" pizza called the Big Gun, I ordered that for my New Years Eve party and that fed 20+ people. I literally had to put the back seats in my Pathfinder down to fit in my car.
Can you tell I love Evelyn's? The Tropeano family is extremely friendly and I remember the second time I met Laura she knew my name! Grazie! I'll see you guys Thursday! -

The lady helping us was very polite. We came in and was automatically greeted. I we ordered the combo of a slice of pizza salad and a drink, which I thought seemed a tiny bit pricey but after the meal it was worth it.
The salad was delicious, and the slice was huge!
Will definitely be coming back. :)
Kudos to our waitress. -

[APPARENTLY, THERE'S A DUPLICATE OF THIS PLACE - TAKEN FROM MY OTHER REVIEW ON THE BIG ITALIAN PIZZERIA]
After reading the reviews of the Evelyn's Big Italian (Pizzeria) a few weeks ago, I finally threw out the suggestion about trying this place out to my boyfriend last night. He obliged and we were on our way to see what this place was all about.
After we've found a parking spot directly in front of the joint, we walk in and were kind of confused as to where the menu was at. Apparently, they have a stack of them under the "Order & Pay Here" sign, which is also in front of the register. We didn't notice it until after the fact, so we huddled around the menu that was taped to the door. We looked it over several times before finally deciding on the 16" New York Special Combo. The woman at the register was friendly and I was extremely surprised at the fact that she spelled my name correctly (LOL). She told us that it would be a 15-20 minute wait. Seeing that there were no open tables inside the pizzeria, we decided to get back into the car and pick up a few things before we had to pick up our pizza.
We return and the mister runs inside to pick up our dinner. The aroma radiating from the pizza box had us both salivating and wanting to dive into the backseat and indulge in what was in that box. After setting things up once we got back home, we finally sat down to see what was inside the pizza box. We were somewhat confused at first, because the toppings were under the cheese, but once we took a bite from the slice that was on our plate, we were in pizza heaven! We damn near finished the box within a 20 minute period (OK, I'm over exaggerating here, but we consumed a lot in one sitting). I already want to go back and try out a few other items off of their menu.
I highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for good pizza!1 Previous Review: Show all »

The pizza is the best and everyone there is nice and quick about it.
HOWEVER no 5 stars becuase the owner is a fat smelly dickhead. He yelled at me for getting water once and another time when the machine wouldn't run my card, the counter girl said it was probably because someone was using the fax (weird but whatever) he walks by and looks at me (wearing a nice shirt and tie with Aldo shoes) and says, No his card is no good. I wanted to smack him in the fucking mouth! What is wrong with that guy. Oh course she went in back shut off the fax machine and ran my card again. It went right through. Pizza is fantastic not exactly new york good but I've had worse pizzas in New York (though mostly better) but still damn fine pizza.
Except that owner guy what a stupid, ignorant idiot. And his shirt is covered in sweat and his eyes are glassy.
Also I found it shocking only one or two people had a problem with the male owner, then I looked at the filtered review and saw Many many more -

My husband and I tried Evelyn's for the first time about 2 months ago, and we have been back 6 times, have brought other family members, and we are TOTALLY ADDICTED!!!!
We have eaten our way through about half of the menu at this point, looking forward to trying everything! The house tomato sauce, while a bit thin, is so flavorful, so absolutely delicious that you want to lick your plate. We get a house salad with ranch every time, and it is perfectly fresh and crisp, with a delicious topping of garlic marinated tomatoes. YUM!!!!
The pizza is NY delicious, just the right amount of cheese, crispy crust, chewy pizza dough. What's not to love?
While the pasta can be a bit overdone at times, it is always beyond delicious. They serve a loaf of fresh, hot house-made bread made from the pizza dough with pasta entrees. It comes with a balsamic/olive oil/herb dipping sauce. The meat sauce on the tortellini is unbelievable and memorable.
We love the food at this friendly, family-owned and run business. We are now regulars, and recommend it to all of our friends and family who have not yet been.
There is just nothing in Solano county to compare to Evelyn's. We are from San Francisco and are so happy to have found really good, solid, consistent Italian food in Solano county!! -

Went here for dinner on a Wednesday. Apparently it's Lasagna night. For 7.95 all you can eat, and kids under 10 free, so my kiddo was free. I was a bit scared after reading reviews of the owner going postal on people, but honestly, he was really nice to us when he took our order.
It's kind of like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. You follow the rules, you get great service and treatment. He did go off a bit on a few people that broke the "rules", but I thought it added to the character of the place...
We are here for a few more days, and will return to try the pizza! BTW, the Lasagna was excellent! -

I wanted to find a family owned restaurant close to my house and found this place on yelp. Based on its 4-star rating and $, I thought we would give it a try. Let me say that I was more than impressed!!! The gal who helped us at the front desk was SUPER friendly!
I ordered a house salad and the veggie stromboli with pepperoni. My husband had the meatball sanwich and for dessert we ordered a homemade canoli. The salad arrived first and had a great garlic flavor (which I loved). They actually use their bruschetta mix and put it on their salads which adds a TON of flavor. Next the stromboli and sandwich came out and the portions were pretty big. The bread on the sandwich and the crust on the stromboli were the best I've ever had!! Nice and crunchy, cooked to perfection.
Lastly, we got our canoli and my husband saw an espresso machine and assumed they had espresso and tried to order one. The girl at the front said that it's for her boss' personal use but she would check with him. He was kind enough to sell us an espresso and the canoli was delightful.
Overall, best bang for your buck around! We eat at another New York style pizza place in Fairfield (I won't call them out) but our dinner with 4 pieces of pizza, a salad, 2 drinks and a canoli was $38. (And the salad sucked, veggies were kinda old and nasty). At Evelyn's we had 2 HUGE meals, a tasty salad, 2 drinks, a canoli and an espresso WITH TIP was $30.
Great for families or couples!! Check it out! Plus they do huge pizza by the slice all day for about $4 per slice. -
Review from Petra S.
You should have kept your American Canyon location OR sold it and not let it be taken over. Read the reviews, thier HORRIBLE now. The new people have basically let the place go downhill, including the quality, service and cleanliness. What's worst is the owner allowed them to keep their name. I was a major fan of Parry's when they were still in American Canyon, while we lived in Vallejo. I even had the Fairfield location, which was still good but not as nostolgic as the original. The pizza is still probably the best you'll find in the far out east bay but I wish they had at least not allowed the new owners to run it to the ground.

I remember when Evelyn and Pete owned NY Pizza Kitchen next to the old Raley's in Fairfield, so I was hella excited when they opened this place. It's the same AMAZING food - the pizza is divine, but I recommend trying a calzone or stromboli! They are big enough for two, or even one if you want leftovers for a few days! The marinara sauce remains the best I've ever had in my life - jsuper smooth, just enough spice to give it a kick.
If you're looking for a place that serves real, authentic New York style pizza and Italian food, this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. -

When I think about great pizza I really think New york. I love those long piece you fold in half before you bite into it. That is what you get here. Big juicy slices, with a verity of types toppings. Don't forget their specialties pizza where bigger is better. Since this Italian restaurant its not all pizza. they have everything from lasagna to cannolis to very fresh salads. All in all I love the food here!

my son liked his pizza slice and the fact that it was larger than him, lol. I had a potatoe pasta in pesto. the taste was ok but the sight of it became scary after it sat for about 5 minutes. the green oily sauce began ot submerge to the top of the metal mixing bowl. my 9 yr old son looked at it and said "gross mommy, your food looks like it is floating in a green pond." I thought to myself, "more like a swamp." The sweet little waitress who was very kind said the pesto sauce is not made in the store it is prepackaged???? I will never have that dish again!

I love the place, and the people working there are alright. I've noticed a trend among the posts here of either people loving it or hating it. Which seems to speak to me that people just go in with some kind of entitlement or they're easy to disappoint.
As far as I'm concerned the place is a hole in the wall kind of restaurant and to expect it to be fine dining is absurd. As long as things aren't health code violating and the food is good why should it matter?
That said, I'm a huge fan of the connoli. As well as the ravioli. -

At work we love to order their 32in BIG pizzas, especially the Hawaiian. This pizza is not only enough for a football team, but it taste oh-so delicious! Due to the fact that I happen to like my waistline as is, I don't go too often. But man when I do, it's pure heaven! Customer service is so-so, but since the pizza is so good I don't really mind.

They have almost everythig already on their menu. This place is awesome, they are friendly and fast. Wich is a definate plus for me since I came during my short 30 min lunch break.
I enjoyed a Louisiana style pizza with chicken and Garlic which was really good, the pizza slices here are so big you don't even need appetizer's.
I will have to go back real soon.
I almost forgot to mention their special on a 10 lb pizza for only $40.Listed in: Work Time Lunch-Famished

i wanted to like this place SO BADLY! as Fairfield's first by-the-slice place, i had high hopes for such a venue but alas, i've come away with mediocre-at-best experiences.
i kept hearing about their GARGANTUAN pizzas so i came through one day for a slice. now, i've recently come to the realization that i'm not a fan of NY style pizzas, and this isn't their fault. BUT, that being said, as far as the conglomeration of ingredients went, the slice i got did not wow me. I only got a pepperoni slice which seems plain, but i've had some truly delicious pepperoni slices in my ventures to great food sites. this was not amazing by any means.
on my next encounter here, i'd driven by one day and noticed them advertising about an all you can eat lasagna lunch deal, so i decided OBVIOUSLY to check it out. so i got there and ordered the deal and waited for my slice of lasagna... and waited for my slice of lasagna... and waited for my slice of lasagna. for some reason, it took about 9 years for me to get me to get my first slice, and when i DID get it, IT WAS BOILING LAVA HOT! i think that there were literally bubbles coming up out of the marinara like it was some sort of super mario brothers dungeon!
NOW... i understand that the lasagna was probably made to order. i appreciate that. i understand that when food is made to order it takes longer to prepare and get out to the table. i absolutely appreciate that. and when food is FRESH it comes out HOT. i both appreciate and understand the thermal properties of that. i really do. what i don't appreciate is for my single slice of lasagna to take 9 years to reach my table, and when it does it is so absurdly hot that it takes another year to cool down... a decade?! to eat a piece of lasagna?! kill that noise, c'mon.
and again, the lasagna was as good as one that you could buy from a grocery store freezer section.
am i getting the wrong items? maybe. but i'm still sad that this place hasn't rocked my proverbial socks. -

This has become one of my fave lunch spots. They are located downtown Fairfield, which is turning into quite the cute place to go. There is actually enough parking all around, even though you are near the courthouse, city hall, etc., etc.
You have a choice of eating in, eating al fresco or to go. I usually get my order to go. This is your typical NY style set-up, the cheese pizza is already pre-cooked and they add your toppings and pop it in the oven. A single slice covers the entire plate and the triangle falls over the side.
My pizza has always had loads of toppings, been delish and served quickly and with a great attitude!
Works for me. -

$3.50 for a slice of pepperoni pizza and it's HUGE! I've never seen a slice of pizza that big. It's definitely good when it's fresh and hot, however once it cools down everything starts to coagulate, which I'm not a fan of. I do wish there was more sauce, I like sauce.

I've only been here once, so I'll have to update this review after a few more tries, because I'll definitely be back again!
I popped in with my hubby and FIL after a little trip to the Farmer's Market. The decor inside was adorable and it smells so good!!!
We all three ordered calzone--the best calzone I've had in the area! It was HUGE and tasted great (at least, the cooked parts--see below). I loved the marina that came with it too!
So why only three stars so far? The calzones weren't cooked all the way through! Granted, they are large, so I can see how this would be a difficult balance--cooking a huge, thick, stuffed calzone thoroughly without burning the crust, but I was still disappointed.
We'll give them another shot though, so stay tuned! -

Big fat assed slices and whole pies. My friend and I had a whole pie for lunch and was quite good. I would not doubt that it's probably the best pizza in Fairfield from my experience. I did notice some of the slices, which I must say were large enough, but they lloked like they just poured a bunch of toppings on a cheese pizza, like a 7 year old making pizza at home. Not really eye appealing. I'd prefer a pizza made to order, that is the toppings cooked into the pizza. I also noticed that they sell home made cannolis. I have not tried them yet, but I soon will. Dangerous for sure if they are good!
Just note this, the place is a mad house at the top of the lunch hour and there is limited seating room so you might want to beat the crowd or wait for it to be fed and gone.
If you are needing a monster sized pizza they sell pizzas up to 32 inches! -

Fantastic. Stopped by for dinner. It is a small place with plenty of personality. It is a pizza place, but I would suggest trying other dishes as well. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful.
We ordered a Vege combo pizza and baked ziti with meatballs. We had bruschetta appetizer.
The bruschetta was really, really good. I highly recommend it. It tasted very fresh.
Warm bread with oil and balsamic dip comes with the pasta. again - very good. The ziti was a HUGE portion with ginourmous meatballs (it was enough for 2 people). It was wonderful.
Pizza was very good as well. Someday I will come back for the giant pizza for my son's birthday party! -

I went to Evelyn's because friends of mine were raving about the pizza. They said the portion slices were huge and the New York style was very different and fresh from the other local pizza and so-called "New York" style pizzas. I was still in love with Uncle Bong's, but they closed. So I finally made the trip to Evelyn's and...I've had this before! We ate their pizza when they owned Perry's in American Canyon. I walked in and saw the owner and knew my pizza was going to be good to go. I still think he was the last person cut from the Soprano's casting call 10 years ago, but I digress.
The only unfortunate thing was I ordered it take out instead of dine-in. I wanted to see Evelyn again. She's a nice lady and I remember her impeccable, friendly service from over a year ago.
I'd continue to review the pizza in more detail, but I already did it when it when they owned Perry's. You can see all my local reviews at http://www.solanodinin... if you want to check it out. Otherwise, just expect large slices, fresh ingredients and minimal but rich tomato sauce. The best part? The light crust. I'd buy a box of crust if I could.
