18 reviews for Eve
A few months ago I was in Eve. I came across a rack of sweaters in multiple colors, all with long, drapey ends of fabric. They were on sale 'til the end of the week. Curious, I shrugged on a charcoal-colored one and tied the ends in a fat knot. It looked... weird. I decided to ask for some help:
Me (to Eve employee): Um, excuse me? Would you mind telling me how this is supposed to be worn?
Eve Employee: Sure! It's the wrap sweater. It's really in right now and there's actually a ton of different ways to wear it. I'm actually wearing one right now. Here's how I did it mine.
(Eve Employee proceeds to tie the ends of the two long pieces in a small knot, does some twisty magic, and places the fabric around my neck.)
Eve Employee: Voila! It's like a cowlick sweater.
Me: Oooo! That looks good! (Cowlick look: http://img6.imageshack...)
Eve Employee: Here's another way that one of our customers came up with. You'll need a bangle.
(Eve Employee goes to the accessories table and grabs a large plastic bracelet, returns and slips the two long pieces of sweater through it, wraps the remaining fabric around me, and tucks the ends in.)
Eve Employee: It's kind of a modern, formal look that you can use over a dress or to go out in.
Me: Whoa! That's so cool! (Faux-cardigan bangle look: http://img14.imageshac...)
Eve Employee: Yeah, there's a million different ways it can be worn. You can totally be creative with it.
(Perhaps Gullible) Me: Seems like a pretty good investment with so many different looks. I'd be crazy NOT to get one!
My reviews on clothing stores are about as few and far between as are my actual shopping trips (my "Top Reviewed Categories" chart reveals where my financial priorities really lie...**nom nom nom**). In spite of this, Eve is one of the few clothing shops I'd take the time to give some well-deserved recognition. Located on the Upper Haight, it stands out from competing women's clothing boutiques for providing a more versatile array of prices (ranging from the "Wow this is cute OH SHIT I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that price tag" to "Wow, I can actually afford this") and outstanding customer service that is in no way pushy or pretentious.
And unlike other small shops like it, Eve's sale merchandise doesn't LOOK like sale merchandise (ie, you can actually find cute, flattering items on sale). Right now they have an entire room of clothing and shoes for 50% off, like the pleated bubble mini skirt I bought yesterday (link coming soon!) that was once $95, marked down to $50, and purchased at half off THAT price for a grand total of $27.
With the current state of the economy, Eve is definitely one of the few luxuries an SF girl will find worth checking out (ps, clearly I'm loving the sweater! And by cowlick, of course I meant cowlneck... that's me, the fashionista all the way).

3.5 stars
Small but full of cute treasures...especially on tops and dresses. They carry quite a few Velvet items, which is one of my favorite brands.
I saw the top Kate V. mentioned - see their display for yet another creative way to wear the top.

Eve is one of Haight Street's hidden treasures. The first time I ventured to Haight when I was 18, I found Eve. I've been coming back ever since. The store is full of cute clothes that you can wear during the day, to work, or even clubbing. Sometimes the prices can be a little up there..but dig through the sale racks and you'll find a good deal. I love being able to bring as much crap into the dressing room as I'd like without having to wait around for someone to assist me. More often than not, I'll leave here with a bag of clothes I really didn't need.
The guys that work here are really chill, always greet you when you enter and say goodbye even if you don't buy anything. Even better, they don't keep an eye on you like you're about to run out of the store stealing something! I really really hate that.

Another goody on Haight street.. I love this shop!! Whenever I decide to make it a girlie shopping day, I almost always hit up a few shops in the Haight, Eve being one of them.
LADIES,
EVERYTHING in here is fuckin' hella cute and reasonably priced! They have a little bit of everything.. denim, feminine tops, sexy little dresses, bold accessories, to even your basic tees and cami's. They also have great sales (not sure how often) and if you rummage through it carefully, you're sure to find a bargain on some hot stuff.
I wish all of my credit cards were paid off right now because I've got the shopping itch.. uh oh..

I used to be alot more comfortable wearing shorter belly-button revearling shirts. But part of really delving into my early twenties - and moving away from my midriff middle school past, involves finding shirts that not only are able to enhance my figure - but also do a good job of covering it up.
And as there was in the beginning....
or at least at the beginning of Haight Street.
There's Eve.
Eve can easily appear to be much of the muchness of Haight Street, but if you really take the time to study their clothes - you'll find an assortment of fashionable well priced items. You'll find wrap-around stretchy cardigansthat cover and hold in eveything. You'll find decently priced butt hugging jeans. Cute sassy hats. Darling dresses. And many more tantalizing golden apples to feast upon.

I can't remember ever being in this store and having an employee
A Offer to help
B Step away from leaning on the counter with her coworker
I shouldn't have to ask you about sizes and ask you about shoes and ask you if I should just find my way to the dressing room and ask you...

I completely agree with the review before mine by Laura G. Employees never offer help of any kind. They seem utterly preoccupied and are even put out when ringing you up. It seems pretty overpriced as well. I pretty much only go in there if I am
1.) bored as heck and
2.) with a friend so it isn't quite as awkward with the grumpy employees
Needless to say, I am not a frequent shopper at Eve.

Oh, Eve.
I thought I did not like you.
But then - somehow - I stumbled in on a confused Saturday afternoon.
I was thinking about a party being held in my honor. I did not think I wanted to do the same white miniskirt affair that had sustained me on several occasions. Yes, there were a few untried top options, but I dreamed of something more.
Then it was there.
The black halter maxi dress with the chain link halter. Damn. Damnit dammitty damn damn damn. The edginess that my peeps have come to respect from me genuinely melded with a grace and classiness that I've appropriated over time.
I look hot thanks to you. Half of your stuff may be kind of bleh but when you've got it you've got it.
Go to them. Look through everything. Damn it, it's there for you somewhere.
Whoever said this is another cheap clothing store on Haight clearly wasn't paying attention- I grew up with those cheesy stores (they hold a place in my heart) and could see the difference immediately. Not only is it reflected in the price tags (sorry gals- if you're looking for a deal head out to Forever 21) but more importantly it reflects in the QUALITY. Contrary to the Haight Street tradition, these folks are not selling disposable clothing.
That being said, I don't have a million dollars to spend on clothes and I bet you don't either. Which is why I come here for the sale rack. I almost always find something super cute, super discounted, and leave super happy.
Ta-da! Life is good.

They carry a very good selection of fashionable clothing, shoes, and accessories. When I go in, I always manage to buy something. Very hip and good-looking clothes. I can't forget to mention the shoes. They have the cutest and unique looking shoes; they have everything from flats to wedges and boots. It's a small aisle in the back though so you could easily miss it. If anything, just check out their shoe selections.
The biggest bonus is that they have a lot of things on sale and their sales are usuall 40% or more!
Eve is a cute, pink (from the outside) boutique located on Haight st. The clothes (like many other Yelpers have been saying) is similar to the clothes that you would find at other boutiques just down the street. However, Eve always seems to have a large rack of clearance clothing that is priced pretty reasonably in the other section of their store.
I've seen a few cute things here...not to mention cute shoes as well!
This place is very cozy and cute inside and is definitely appealing to me.
I would come back in the future if I'm in need of a cute top or dress.

This is one of my two go to stores on Haight street for fun flirty clothes (the other is Ambiance). I have found several cute party dresses here as well as good staples like wraps, clutches, and camisoles. In response to some other reviewers: I actually prefer the hands off approach when shopping. The last thing I want is an annoying salesperson following me around the store making inane suggestions. I love that I can just walk into a dressing room without asking or waiting in line. When I have requested it, the salespeople at eve are more than happy to help. I don't think it's the same as X Generation at all, Eve is more sophisticated and better quality. To each their own I guess. If some people want to stay away, more cute clothes for me.
5 stars for the simple fact that I found the dress I am wearing to my Vegas wedding at this store, and within the first two minutes of me walking into it. This is after I flew down to LA and went to a ridiculous amount of high profile hip shops and found nada.
Whoop-de-do!
OOoooooooweee! Saucy saucy saucy-this is a heaven forreal! The fashions are so hot, everything from the casual tops, to flirty dresses, to the great variety of jewelry and accessories! This shop is so dangerous to fashionistas. The prices are fairly reasonable and some items can be on the high-side, but regardless, the quality is great.
I found a really great dress to wear to a wedding for $50, I was about to drop a lot more than that at a department store. They have good dresses and good jeans. When I am in that hood I make sure to go in.

this is my favorite clothing store in the upper haight. good mix of cheap stufff with pricey stuff. very well chosen selection. come for dresses but not for shoes. i always find something to buy
Yet another store with flimsy clothing catering to Asian girls under the age of 18. I really think that all of these places (X Generation, Clobba, etc) are all owned by the same people because all of the clothes are exactly the same. In fact, there is another boutique just a few doors down that has a less fashionable verison of this store (in the old "your skirt" location). They're slowly but surely taking over the Haight.

If you like Ambiance, keep walking down Haight to Eve. While they don't have a huge selection, you can get some GREAT deals. Cute stuff + good prices = being able to keep up with the latest trends without breaking your bank or feeling guilty when you update to next season.
