I purchased a used SUV from Evanston Subaru recently.  Everyone at the store was very nice, offered me and my wife coffee (Starbucks machine= excellent drinks).  They allowed us to take the vehicle out for 2 test drives and were not pushy, letting us control the negotiations.  Both owners of Evanston Subaru took the time to come over, say hi, introduce themselves and make small talk as well as ensure we were being taken care of.

Negotiations were fantastic.  The vehicle we were interested in was slightly above our budget but was more than fairly priced, in fact was already discounted over $2000.  I shot them a number that would be within our budget and they in the end were able to come very close to that number.

I also had a trade in that I believe they gave me a very fair, almost generous amount for.  We had been at Grossinger Hyundai earlier in the morning and they offered significantly less for my trade-in; almost insultingly low.

I worked with Derek, and met both owners who all couldn't be nicer gentlemen.  David, the financial guru also handled all our questions with license transfers like a pro.   Overall, we had a very positive experience with Evanston Subaru in Skokie and will be back.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Evanston Subaru when I bought a used Impreza about a week ago. I worked primarily with Evan but I was also able to meet a couple of the other guys here, and everyone was friendly and professional. Before I arrived on that day, I had expressed interest in a particular car, and Evan had it taken to the back to get it washed. I'm all about the details, and at Evanston Subaru they really make sure you feel taken care of.

People were warning me about getting bullied by used car salesman, but I never felt like that when I was at Evanston Subaru. We negotiated for several hours, but I had my maximum price I was willing to pay and I just stuck to that. They weren't willing to lower the price on the car I originally was interested in, but after discussing for a while, they were able to find another car that was similar and fit my price range. They were flexible and willing to work with my budget, which I really appreciated.

Even after I went home with the car, the service has continued to be excellent. A few days after I purchased the car, they called me again and said that if I wanted to enroll in an extra security plan (because my car was originally a buyback), they would have to inspect my car again. I brought it in and was provided a rental car, free of charge, for the entire day. I was also given a book of coupons for their service center. I'll definitely be coming back to use the 25 free oil changes!

I love cruising around in my Impreza. Thanks, Evanston Subaru!

I had a great experience with Evanston Subaru! I was in the market for a 2012 Impreza, and had been burned by Mid-City Subaru in the city, so I was a little gun shy when I started talking with Evanston Subaru.  However, Evan was great.  Very responsive, yet not overbearing.  He was very conscience of the fact that he wanted me to have a good experience with them, and I'm confident that it was sincere.  When my car was a few days late, he offered to let me use a loaner, or even found a similar model that had arrived at the dealership.

When the car did arrive, he educated us on all the features of the car, and walked us through the process (this was my first time buying a new car). They offer no hassle prices, so no haggling over the price (which was lower than Mid-City's with more features on the vehicle).  John in their legal department was also very patient and helpful in explaining our financing, warranty options, etc.  I never felt pressured throughout the entire process, which was a relief.

I especially appreciate their responsiveness even after I bought the car.  I had to get a copy of my new registration, and I had it in my hands a couple hours after I asked.  Evan also called to check in and see how I liked my new car.  I think it's gestures like those that make customers come back to the dealership when they're in the market for a new car again....although I'm hoping that it will be many years for me!

I can't imagine a better car buying experience.  My salesman, Evan Paddur, was beyond low pressure - he was no pressure - as well as helpful, thoroughly informed on all his vehicles and packages, even competing models, a decent and genuine guy.  In fact of the half a dozen people I came across during my time at Evanston Subaru, not one was unpleasant or unhelpful.

At the end of October last year (2011) I began visiting dealerships hoping to get a better feel for and more information on the vehicles my husband and I were interested in.  I should not have started at Evanston Subaru in Skokie because my experience elsewhere paled in comparison.  As I entered the dealership a salesman offered assistance.  I explained that I only wanted to see interiors and take some brochures home for my husband who was not able to accompany me.  Evan didn't need to be told twice.  I wasn't sure how much help to expect once I declared my intentions but to my surprise he was just as willing to help me, spend time, and answer questions as if I had my checkbook out.  He even encouraged me to contact him with any questions, and I did about sales tax, title & licensing fees, which he freely answered with no commitment.

In contrast, the next dealership I visited was pure stereotype.  I was pounced on by a cologne-drenched, "shiny"-haired, smiling, smooth operator as soon as I stepped in the door.  Even though I stated my desires to view interiors and pick up brochures as clearly as before, somehow the message was not received.  I spent the better part of my day there - trapped - due in part to my own naivete.  Having been thrown off by the common courtesy of the Evanston Subaru dealership, I was ill-prepared for this type of salesman.  Trained to push his own agenda, even if it meant ignoring mine.  I can't say the salesman was rude or even unhelpful, nothing so blatant; however I can say that by the end of my visit he was calling me "Sweetie," had multiple times touted that some pregnant women just get better looking... and while walking me to my car, literally made me promise to call him that night after I'd talked to my husband about the offer on the table.  Yes, there was an offer on the table because, again, I didn't realize that politeness won't cut it with some people.  He had my car in the garage to estimate it's trade in value, found me a car that met my preferences, and haggled with his "manager" several times on an offer.  Frankly, the only way I was able to escape this, in retrospect, laughable incarceration was because of my husband.  The one thing my salesman did finally understand was that I was not going to buy a car without my husband at least SEEING it...  As that visit was only supposed to give me a better idea of the vehicles, my later livid husband and I had a very hard time planning to go back.

Luckily, in the end we made our choice a Subaru.  Interesting tidbit: Evan actually remembered me - nearly 2 months later, with no paperwork in front of him.  How's that for personal service?  The purchase process was ...  in a word, pleasant.  We planned to buy, not lease, so apart from the unease we felt preparing to drop a bunch of money and lock ourselves into a monthly payment for the remainder of the financing, my husband and I both felt satisfied by the quality of the car and that we had not been taken advantage of, a great comfort looking back wondering and hoping that we made the right decision.

We had something added to our car and thus far, I can say the service team is also topnotch.  I found a few smudges on the interior once we got home (the car we purchased was a test-drive model) and upon pointing them out, they not only cleaned them but gave me tips on how I can keep the lovely light interior clean as well.

This is a great dealership.  I highly recommend you find out for yourself if you're in the market for a new car.

We have gotten our car serviced at Evanston Subaru since we purchased it from Evanston Subaru and every time the experience is fine...

    And here comes the exception.

Today I went in for service and told Scott (Service Advisor) the front left headlight was out in addition to the oil change and general "going on a summer road-trip" checkup we had scheduled. After about forty minutes Scott pulled me aside and said our tech, Chris noted that we had "clutch slippage" and should replace the clutch (to the tune of $2400 which is a pretty penny for a clutch). I haven't noticed any issues with the clutch slipping and we only have 40,000 miles on our vehicle so I declined the service. Scott also recommended vent service ($150) and again I declined so he said the car will be "ready shortly."

I drive off pleased until I notice the front left headlight is still out. I'm a bit frustrated but whatever, I can replace it myself. The problem I have is that I was recommended $2550 worth of repairs I don't feel I need and of the two services I requested (new light, oil change) one was neglected/missed in a full inspection which should check for it.

Around noon I called and talked to Ray who said everyone was at lunch and he'd call me back after talking to Chris. About 2pm I got a voicemail from Scott (who is not Ray) about "some questions about [my] vehicle." I called him back and tried, in two different ways, to explain that the problem I have is not with the headlight but with having $2550 worth of repairs recommended and one easy-to-spot-and-fix problem ignored/missed.

While they did offer to fix the headlight, again, the issue isn't the headlight. The issue is that I don't know about cars, I expect you guys to advise me, and I feel like you're not recommending things with my best interests at heart.

So now I have lost faith in Evanston Subaru and that sucks. I really wanted to like you guys but now I'm writing you a bad Yelp review instead.

I went in this past Spring to get my car serviced and ended up having to do a clutch replacement.  The quote I got was pretty high, but as my car was already being serviced for other things and I had a long trip to go on in a few days, I said to go ahead.

Later I called around to other Subaru dealers (Mid-City) and got a quote for a LOT less, like $600 less.  This place is not competitive with similar service in the area.  I cannot recommend.

While it is easier to get an appointment now, and their facilities are beautiful, I'd rather pay less and go to Starbucks myself.

I just have to say that these guys are fantastic.  It's not just the buying of the Subaru, but the consistent service that continues to be provided by Ray Eichenlaub and his staff.  These guys really will go the extra mile and get things done in a manner that continually improves an already solid customer service relationship.  Every service experience I have there reinforces my good choice of having purchased from them in 2005, and makes me want to continue to have a life-long business relationship with them.  They rock!

I've been eyeing the Subaru Forester for years, and the time had finally come where I was in a position to buy one.  This would've been my third new car purchase.  My first experiences buying a new car were fun and exciting.  The dealerships treated me with respect, were friendly and worked with me.  This is what I expected to experience now. I was wrong. I started shopping online and left several inquiries with different dealerships. Most weren't willing to negotiate and didn't seem to even want my business.  One dealership seemed promising but after being lured there, I found that I was completely mislead.  I also felt pressured and insulted.  I had just about come to my wits end working with different salesmen from different dealerships.  I was honestly going to give up and wait a few more months to try again.

Then the sky opened and the heavens sang "Evanston Subaru".   Well, not exactly.  But what really happened was Evan from Evanston Subaru called me in response to my online inquiry.  I was so sick of poor salesmanship I told him immediately, "Evan, I've been negotiating for days with different dealerships.  I'm been getting the run around and I'm exhausted.  These are the offers I'm considering, what can do you for me."  Evan was kind, respectful, and frank.  When I asked him for more, he didn't make false promises, he gave me honest answers.  And though his offer wasn't the best I received (only by $40 though), I chose him because of the way he treated me.

I met Evan that night.  He was busy helping other people when I arrived, but he still got up to greet me and had a colleague of his escort me on a test drive.  When we returned, Evan was ready for me.  He had his sales manager take a look at my trade in and they gave me a great value.  I was whisked away to John, who worked his magic on my financing and got me a very low APR.

It was now well after hours, but Evan continued to help me.  He helped transfer my things from my old car to my new car, he connected my phone to the car's Bluetooth option, he answered all the questions I had, and at nearly 11pm he was waving good-bye and wishing me luck as I drove off in my new Forester.

This was the best experience I've ever had purchasing a car.  The teamwork at Evanston Subaru was seamless.  Every person I worked with there was friendly and helpful.  The first Mike answered all my rookie questions during the test drive. The second Mike not only gave me a fine rate on my trade-in but he also educated me on options that saved me time and money.  John worked with the bank to get me the best interest rate.  And dear Evan...I can't say enough about that guy.  The man stayed 2 hours after closing to help me, what more can I say?  No one questioned my intelligence at this place.  I was treated with dignity and respect.  I'd love to take all these guys out for beers.  From here on out, I am a loyal customer of Evanston Subaru and I will refer everyone I know to them.

Just rolled away with a new Subaru, second from this dealership. Even though my husband and I had moved from the far northside, to the far southside last year, I still return the Evanston Subaru in Skokie. The staff is wonderful, knowledgeable and always accommodating. There are never any of those high-pressure sales. Service on the car is always professional and on-time. The dealership atmosphere is bright, friendly and comfortable. And best of all, they are always willing to work with your budget. They have a customer in me for life!

Seems like a lot of people have had some terrible experiences with Evanston Subaru (of Skokie) so I just wanted to chime in with what I've experienced at both the old building and the new building.

I will preface this by saying that I have not purchased a car from the staff in the new location, but I did purchase 2 Subaru's from the staff in the old location. I'm not sure if most of the old staff came over when they moved, but I can't comment on the sales staff in the new location.

When I turned 21 I was in the market for my first new car. I had been driving a 1992 Jeep Wrangler since I turned 16 and it was falling apart so I figured a brand new 2003 WRX would be a nice birthday present to myself. I did a lot of research before finding the deal at Evanston Subaru and when I finally found that deal it was a cake walk. The price was significantly lower than a lot of the other prices I had seen (possibly because the new models were about to get released, which was good for me because I didn't like the new style), so I shot off an email to the salesman. Less than an hour later I had a response answering the questions I had and me and my dad were in the dealership that night in anticipation of picking up the car... and that's exactly what we did. Everyone was extremely helpful and courteous.

I took my car back to the dealer for all the oil changes and service and never had any issues. My biggest regret is selling that car to buy a 2003 Infiniti G35...

After bouncing between a few cars for a couple years I found myself back at Evanston Subaru following up a lead for a used 2008 Subaru Legacy. The price was good, got a few bucks knocked off the price for a few dings in the car and they even brought in a paintless dent removal guy to pull out the dings that they could... Even got a full tank of gas out of them as I almost left there with the gas meter showing 0 gallons left.

My only complaint with purchasing the cars is a personal issue I have with Harris Bank. Mainly I refuse to give them any of my money, ever again after dealing with them for the car loan on the Infiniti mentioned above. So seeing as how Evanston Subaru uses Harris unless you buy the extended warranty (in which case they use Chase) I chose to take the basic extended warranty for the sole reason of having my money go to Chase instead of Harris.... ok, and the convenience factor since all my other accounts are with Chase and the fact that they give you enough free oil change to basically cover the cost of the warranty.

And as for service, I've never had any issues with these guys at both the new and old locations. I love the fact that I can setup an appointment via the website and usually get a response within a few hours confirming or letting me know that they have no available slots for my requested day. I've never felt pressured into having to have any service done, I just politely refuse and that's that.

The new facilities are nice, much nicer than the tiny waiting room in the old place, obviously they don't compare to the Infiniti's waiting room, but you can't expect every dealership to have a movie theater! haha. So overall, I will continue to take my car in for service at Evanston Subaru and if I chose to go the Subaru route in the future, they will be the first place I look.

Just bought my second car from these guys. They are the best to deal with and I will continue to buy cars from them in the future. I worked with Ethan this time around and would say he made the entire experience very easy, I walked in expecting to buy a used 2010 outback and walked out with a 2012 for a few dollars more. I checked out three other Subaru dealers in the area and Evanston's pricing where considerably better.

If buying new, get in contact with them by submitting an inquiry using their Internet site and get in contact with Derek Bogdan. Had I purchased from Evanston Sub, I would've gone with Derek's pricing. Derek had a lot of product knowledge and He's probably one of the forces behind my ultimate choice in a Subaru. In the end when it was all "said and done" I ended up going with a deal that could not be passed up, plus I got a hook up which could not be beaten.

Up until then, Derek was the salesman I had intended to purchase from. He didn't rush to my every need which is fine because you need a salesman with a backbone. When it comes to negotiating terms for a sale you need someone who knows their product and can speak about it with knowledge. After meeting many Subaru salesmen across the Chicago-land area as well as many test drives through many cars, only a few salesmen stood out. Derek was one of them. Even though I did not purchase from here, I'd still tell friends about him or my experience here and I'll go one further and say that I'll probably bring my new Forester here for upgrades or service one day. That is if they can handle it. I learned this past weekend that appointments must be made in advance due to having a small number of available mechanics. That might be a given, but when you have a service warranty issue you try to go to your closest location first.

A couple negatives or annoyances: Car fax information is not available through their website for free; consumers are expected to pick up that cost. (Honestly, EFF that, $35+ for 1 Car facts report ridiculous). There are so many car dealerships willing to eat that cost to supply you with the information in the hopes for your business. Initially when I first came across Evanston Sub I thought they did this because many of their used cars with low mileage might be rental cars. Most people would not want to buy one for obvious reasons. But, if you are willing to give them some of your time, you can request to see the car fax from one of their salesmen. I did find out that a few of the used cars were indeed rentals and or corporate leases. The only other drawback is the inability of the garage and that's due to planning. Since there was only one mechanic he doesn't answer the phone and callers must leave a message. You can't even ask a simple question like, is it worth it to wait for you guys or try to get this done elsewhere.

Evanston Subaru is a laid back atmosphere, no pushy tactics to get you to close on a car immediately. It's professional and their store is inviting. I did find that one or two salesmen hadn't enough Subaru knowledge, but they had the gist down. Price wise, they have competitive deals against the competition. Used car pricing was great and if you're in the market for a new car they have a decent inventory of cars with better than average options for the price. If you're willing to do your homework on your new car purchase you'd realize this dealership falls within maybe five dealerships statewide when it comes to value and pricing.

I just wanted to thank the guys over at Evanston Subaru.  It was the best car buying experience I have ever had.  Ethan was my sales guy and was very informative and not pushy at all.  Mike also helped out with any questions regarding the vehicle that I purchased.  Even my dealings with Dave in finance were excellent, not at all the typical add on purchase pressure that I am used to.  This is the dealer to go to if you are buying a Subaru.

We've just bought our second subaru from Evan and both times we've had a great experience. We took our time to look around and Evan has always been patient and not pushy with us. First time I got multiple quotes and Evan was able to match all of them. When we finally got to the dealership to buy, he was completely transparent, showing us their dealer invoice prices and explaining all of the fees on the bill of sale(there weren't many) He also got us a pretty good deal on our old car which was in few minor accidents and had some really shoddy body work done on it. Basically, he was pretty pleasant to deal with. Not a super funny awesome guy kind of pleasant, but professional and to the point. The guy who did our financing was a lot pushier and ended up selling us an extended warranty(which turned out to be a good decision) but he got us through the process pretty quickly.

After that we showed up few times for service, which was always good, even when we scheduled wrong service. Every time I had to wait for the car and Evan was around, he recognized me and greeted me by name. He also remembered what car I bought and traded in, as well as which one I was interested in. I ended up being in and out few times before finally trading the first car we got from him for the new Outback.\

TL/DR: Had good experience all around, Evan is attentive, pleasant to deal with and not pushy.

I'm a bang for the buck type guy and after surviving a few Chicago winters in a rear wheel drive car, I knew it was time for all wheel drive.

My search for a AWD car started in June of 2001. After looking at countless Jeeps, Rangers and F150s, I looked to the import manufactures. That is when I came to the conclusion that Subaru seemed give its owners the best package when it come to looking for safety, economy and sport.

Shortly after that recollection, I headed over to Evanston Subaru and bought an '02 2.5RS. After a few years of enjoyment in the RS, I came back with a need for more space and more speed. That is when I found my way into an '04 Forester Turbo during the summer of 03. And most recently, with the need for even more space and better fuel consumption without compromising the power, I went with the '10 Outback 3.6r

Evanston Subaru always made Subaru ownership pleasurable. From the free car washes, to the free roadtrip safety inspections and dealership BBQs!

They have made a lifelong customer out of me!

I have no complaints, each purchase went smoothly and we love our 2 new cars.  We are definately a subaru family, and would recommend this dealership to family and friends!

I bought my 2010 Forester from Evanston Subaru in May after a journey through almost every Subaru dealer in the Chicagoland area. I actually started at Evanston in March and just got a bummer Sales guy, who clearly had no clue dealing with a single woman buying her own car all by herself no less (read: a-hole). So once I gave up my dream of this lovely car buying experience I was going for MY price from whoever I could get it. After coming close in Naperville, I went back to Evanston and they just happened to get that day the car I wanted in the color I preferred. (Stars were aligning.) Needless to say, I entered the establishment and made a beeline toward any other salesman than the previously dubbed a-hole. The next sales guy I got wasn't terribly engaged but I knew everything I needed to know and was just ready to deal. I ended up dealing with the owner Rob Paddor. He was delightful and the negotiating was really fun for me (not so  much for him). That be-willing-to-walk-away-and-really-mean-it stuff really works!

I learned a lot from that negotiating and kinda got addicted so went with my friend on her I'm-gonna-buy-an-Audi journey. If you need help negotiating a car deal, let me know. I still have the monkey on my back. Here's a few tips:

    - Your trade-in is worth just about whatever it needs to be worth (being reasonable) for the dealer to seal the deal. My dad's Buick with 247,000 miles on it that we traded in went from $500 to $1,500 (at Evanston and to $2,000 at Naperville). Trust me the wholesaler (or whatever the junk car guy is called) is a freakin leprechaun that just keeps popping up, particularly if you are about to leave. This was true with the Subaru and Audi dealers...so I'm guessing it is just true.

    - Include the warranty in your dealing. If you want an extended warranty or maintenance package, as you get close to your number (or better you ideal monthly car payment), start talking about the warranty stuff and get that factored into your monthly car payment. I didn't realize there was room to deal on that stuff until we were dealing on the Audi.

So enough with the car buying, I just went in for my first oil change and whatever else they were suppose to check per the maintenance package. I made my service appointment two days in advance and showed up 30 minutes early. They told me it would take an hour and bang on - after an hour I was out of there. There is WiFi throughout the facility and two lounge areas so I was easily able to telecommute (read: still work). I had a laptop with me. They do have public computers with internet access as well.

We had a fantastic experience buying a new car from Subaru. They were very helpful without being at all pushy. The sales people were extremely knowledgable and were able to answer all of our questions.

We first went to Subaru to test drive the Forester. After we decided we wanted something a little larger, we went back to Subaru because we had had such a great experience. We ended up purchasing an Outback and have been very happy with our decision. Since we bought our Outback, the staff at Subaru has continued to treat us well and have consistently reached out in order to ensure our happiness.

We're on our fourth Subaru, so apparently we're sold on them. The first buying experience was with a Subaru dealer near us in the west suburbs in January, 2001 and was less than pleasant. When we bought our second Subaru, we used Subaru's internet email-the-dealer(s)-facility and emailed three dealers with identical emails.

One dealer emailed back right away and said that someone would contact us shortly; never heard any more from them. The second never responded in any way. The third was Evanston Subaru (then in Evanston) which responded immediately with information and we ended up going to them and buying an auto.

As an aside, I can't imagine a more stupid reaction from dealers than not responding at all to purchase inquiries. How can you sell anything if you don't contact potential customers that take the time to contact you?

Anyway, Evanston's response was helpful and reasonable (read: not pushy or obnoxious). Even though they're an inconvenient trip for me, passing probably 8 closer Subaru dealers, I went, had a pleasant dealing and, I thought, fair deal with the salesperson, Derek Bogdan.

The proof of the pudding is in the buying and I've been back to Derek and Evanston Subaru two more times to buy a Subaru, the last being a purchase of a new Outback last year.

I tend not to use dealer service departments, so I can't comment on that aspect of Evanston Subaru. Suffice it to say that service is often the real money making department of new auto dealers in general.

Their new dealership building in Skokie is bright and shining and a considerable upgrade from the dated, cramped facility they had in Evanston.

I had what I thought was a clunker for a trade-in and they gave me more than I thought. I am a first time Subaru buyer and  I have been watching the brand for a long time. The 2010 redesign of the Outback was the car we drove off with. I see these cars on the road for many years and in all sorts of different conditions. Superior dependability and I think they really have cleaned up design is what sold me in the long run. The fact that Evanston Subaru in Skokie is a big supporter of the community also helps!

The new dealership in Skokie is a very nice facility and everyone there so far has really done their best to make sure we are happy campers. I am so happy with my purchase that after hearing me brag and a drive of my car he went and bought a Outback himself.

I had talked to this dealer owner when I came back and he did apologize for the incident. To claim it did not happen is misleading though to the readers on yelp. It did very much happen. And I do not want to call him bc why should I? The damage was done. My review is not a "plant." Yelp can get in touch with me to verify. I work for a bank and have completely no interest in bad mouthing for my own gain. Surprisingly, I also got an email from another yelp reviewer with no reviews saying that I am stupid. I plan to report this to yelp bc I feel like I am being bullied to take my review off yelp. This defeats the purpose of yelp bc it is a medium to empower consumers, not merchants. Go Yelp!!!!!

Got my Outback at Evanston Subaru in April of '09. The experience was about as good as a car-buying experience can be. They gave us a reasonable price and were polite and not too pushy. Maybe the finance guy was a tad pushy, but nothing over what I was expecting. Overall a positive experience. I've been to the service department at the new location a few times for routine maintenance and the experience there was also generally positive. The waiting room is really comfortable and it has WiFi and very good coffee. So far, so good. If something changes, I'll let you know.

I just bought my '05 Hinda Civic here and couldn't have been happier.

I test drove three cars though already had my eye on the Honda after finding it on http://Edmunds.com.  I felt the car pulling a little to the right when I drove it, which I mentioned to the sales guy helping me, Ron. I had to leave and come back the next day and instead of giving me the hard sell, they offered to hold it for me if I could put a fully refundable deposit on the car, which I happily did.

By the time I came back, they had put new tires on the car for me (which fixed the pulling-to-the-right problem). I asked if I could take the car to my mechanic and they happily agreed.  My mechanic looked it over, said the car looked great except the battery didn't look like it'd make it through the winter.  So I mentioned it to Ron and the manager, Bill, and they replaced the battery for me, free of charge.  When it came to negotiating, they couldn't budge on the price (which actually, I understood.  They were asking only $11,900 for a great car with 42,000 miles on it and had already thrown in all new tires and a brand new battery).  I asked about the price of a 3 year warranty and that put me over my budget, so they worked with me to bring it down another $180.  I was able to drive the car home that day, confident I'd gotten a great deal for a GREAT car, and truly was able to relax and ACTUALLY ENJOY the car purchasing process.

Sales folks here are mostly decent, and I've had generally positive experiences with their service department, some years ago they did a recall of Subarus for an issue with the cruise control, I dropped my car in for scheduled maintenance and they fixed the cruise problem (for free) before the recall had even been announced to the general public.  That was nice.  Their dealership is not as big and spacious as you might find in the outlying suburbs, but I like this location because it is right along the Purple Line, very convenient for coordinating service drop-offs & pick-ups.

Love the new location!  They finally offer shuttle service for those who have to leave their car for a lengthy period of time.  They also have computers/internet available in the waiting room as well as a fabulous coffee machine that makes mochas, hot cocoa etc.  It uses Starbucks Coffee too.  The new location definitely makes it easier for you to pass the time while you are waiting for an oil change or any other kind of service.  On top of that, everyone that works there is really nice too!

I recently purchased a new Forester from Evanston Subaru. My salesmen were Evan and Benny. Both were great salesmen, and I wish more dealerships had people like them.

I got a good price on the car, but due to my research beforehand.

Facility is new, clean, and comfortable.

The only reason I'm giving this review 4/5 stars is because of service costs.

While the dealership mechanics do a great job, their prices are considerably higher then the other Subaru dealerships or my local mechanic. Now I'm talking about up to 200% markup on certain services.

I'd love to develop a better working relationship with this dealership so that I can get all my maintenance/repair done there in return for lower prices, however they have proven quite unyielding on service costs.

The car buying/leasing experience can be less than fun, especially as a woman in the "know it all" salesman environment. Usually when I go to a dealership the salesmen proceed to speak only to my husband and when I ask any questions they look at me like, "silly woman". Not at Subaru of Evanston. I was recently there to lease a car and Omar Aziz had to be the most pleasant salesman I have ever encountered. He answered every question I had and treated me as an individual instead of the man's wife. The test drive was fun and we spoke to each other in a conversational manner that made the whole experience more enjoyable. Mike, the sales manager, is straight to the point and hospitable. They make sure you are taken care of and are more than happy to offer you something to drink or some of the candy at the front desk. If Omar isn't around talk to Derek. He's very knowledgeable and will be happy to help you out. I wouldn't think twice about coming back.

This company is truly rude, aggressive, and just plain mean to their customers.   We went in at first, had a nice conversation with salesman, then when we came back to do business, the "closer" (mean guy) came over.   We had a written price quote from another dealership, but he wouldn't budge, reminding us "we've come down $1000 from sticker" (like ANYONE pays sticker price in the world.   He was then rude to us, in countless ways.   FINALLY, he said (arrogantly), "If you can get that price, bring me the car and the receipt and i'll give you $100 cash.   We did, and we did, and then he hemmed and hawed and said that's not what he meant, and found ways not to give us the money he'd promised.   These are the MOST typical, low-brow, tough-sell, stereotypical car dealers we've ever seen.  GO ELSEWHERE, Mid-CIty or even Grand in Bensenville is worth it and much nicer.

We bought a Subaru Forester from Evanston Subaru and couldn't be happier. I was dealing with multiple dealers to try to get a good price and found the other dealers to be unprofessional and prone to the typical tactics that may have worked before the Internet. I sent in a request for quote to Evanston with a list of accessories that I wanted and they gave me a quote that was much lower than the other dealers.

On the way to Evanston Subaru, I was a bit skeptical, thinking it would be a bait-and-switch, but when we arrived, Evan had the car ready for us to inspect, had a detailed list of everything we asked for, and gave us exactly the low price that was quoted. Compared to the other guys, who didn't even know what half the accessories were, this was a very pleasant experience.

Since all the accessories weren't in stock, they gave us a detailed list with a big red "We Owe" on it, which makes you feel better about signing before you have everything installed. After a couple of days, they let us know that the accessories were in and did a great job installing them. Then, they followed up to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
I think they run the place well because it is a family business and they take their reputation seriously.

I bought a new car from Evanston Subaru last month and the process was surprisingly and refreshingly easy.   I felt that the staff was fair, honest and likeable.  I hope the great customer service continues in the future as I'll be going to the dealership for maintenance.  Strongly recommended.

Ok so i went to this place to buy a B9 Tribica. In the paper it claims to be the number one surbaru sales dealership in IL? I highly doubt it since they probably only have a lot thats the size of a small restaurant. Anyways The building is run down and looks old and dirty. And when walking out from the the show room into the "lot" you will probably fall from the ugly cracked conrete steps (which almost happened to me). I was looking at new and used B9's. The used ones were scratched and drity, and obviosuly not in selling condition. In additon, one of them didn't even work, in which the sales person told me he has to "recharge the battery". thats an excellent way to sell a used car right? In additon so i started looking at new ones since the used ones don't seem to be in good shape, no wonder there so cheap. I saw one and sat down about pricing. The guy was nice, but they would not bargin at all. They said they would have to call the owner ect..  They were trying to make it sound like it was a big deal, and that they needed so much approval to even lower the car price by a fair amount. Thus, i walked out! I'm still looking but i may or may not come back. If you try you could for sure get a good deal. However, these guys seem honest, but you get a better deal else where. Mid-City is my next stop, i will update my experience there. Keep Checking.

Oh those pictures are not of this dealership. Whoever posted those, should post correct pictures!

For some reason the very POSITIVE reviews I've attempted to give Evanston Subaru are always deleted. Makes me wonder about Yelp and how they post. Anyway, as I"ve tried to say in previous (unposted) reviews, we had our best car buying experience and have had wonderful experiences with the service department since purchasing our Outback last January. Sure hope they'll post my comment this time!

Nice dealers here.  They are very helpful and assisting in helping you find a car.  They have a wide variety of used and new ISUZU cars.  Although I did not like the cars, I was very impressed with their service.

My car was stolen so I had to find a car fast.  This was my first stop in a long list of Subaru dealerships.  I saw a used car on the lot with low miles and was interested.  I ran in and talked briefly with Evan- he handed me the carfax and showed me what they did to the car when they got it on trade- no nonsense, not pushy, gave me his card and said he was there all day.  I followed this experience with several slimey sales people in the city and the suburbs- I felt like everyone was angling to make a sale "Oh, you are a single mother?  Well you want to keep your little guy safe don't you? We can TRY to do that for that price but it is going to be difficult" (seriously, this was said to me at one place in the suburbs)...  I returned toEvanston Subaru- took the car for a test drive- again, I felt like I wasn't being pushed to look at cars I didn't want, or cars out of my price range- Evan was helpful and made me feel like I was someone that he knew that was coming in to buy a car.  I bought my car that night.  If you are looking for a subaru or in the market for a used car in good condition- go here first...  And don't bother going anywhere else!
