18 reviews for Euro Spa & Inn
My boyfriend and i needed to get away, we wanted to go somewhere to relax. I thought of peaceful calistoga and immediately started looking for hotels/inns to stay at. After doing a google search for the best hotels in calistoga, i came across the eurospa & inn. What a great find. This place is just what we needed. It is far enough away from Lincoln st to be away from the busy-ness but still close enough to it to walk there for meals and window shopping. It is nice and small..only like 13 or 14 rooms here. Unfortunately the first night we were joined by like 5 different couples driving through with their super loud old time hotrods...and they decided to leave at 8 am... waking us up...but no biggie. The first day was great because we were the only ones at the pool. we had a nice time relaxing.
They have an outdoor dining area where they serve breakfast and an afternoon snack. The breakfast is a bit better than the typical continental breakfast...coffee, hot/cold cereals, croissants, english muffins, danishes, yogurt, frest cut fruit, ... forgot what else... the afternoon snack was cute...apple cider, watermelon, crackers, cheese... varies sometimes daily.
The rooms are cute too. they each have a patio with a table and chairs to enjoy the warmth of the day. We stayed in a king bedroom, it had a smaller jacuzzi tub, a small kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave and a coffee pot. the bed was comfortable and the free wifi was very convinent. It was awesome to have digital cable in a hotel room...never happened before.
I really loved this place and my boyfriend and i will definitely stay here again next time.
My suggestions: fix the deck outside the room because you can hear every foot step of the passer-byes...add another mirror in the room because the 1 is not enough...improve the spa services (there wasn't enough of a variety...i went elsewhere for my spa relaxation...roman spa...shhh..)... i think thats it.
I really enjoyed my stay here, the staff was very nice too.
*** Two and a Half Stars***
This review is for Spa services only.
We booked a couples massage here, after yelping several other places and learning that massages in this area are exorbinantly priced. Euro Spa offered a 1 hour couples massage for $150. Extremely great price in this area, and they were pretty flexible with their times. But here's why their prices are low:
1. Location- If it were not but for our GPS we may not ever have found this place, it is definitely off the beaten path. When you pull in, it is reminiscent of a motel parking lot, and the ambiance (or lack thereof) carries on into the spa.
2. Spa- Like I said absolutely no ambiance or even an effort to have some sort of ambiance. When we got into the massage room, I was shocked. It's a room, with the windows wide open, and 2 beds. They have a little boom box playing music, and that's it for any sort of serene atmosphere. Most spa places have heated blankets, and candles going, nope not here.
3. Masseusse- My masseusse's hands were ice cold. Have you ever had a massage by someone with ice cold hands?? It is not pleasant. Warm or hot hands are indicative of their healing abilities. I think her hands finally warmed up the last 10 minutes of the masage. Aside from that it's hard to judge because I just kept thinking of how unpleasant her touch was.
4. Price- like I said previously, the prices are below every other spa in the area. However, price and quality are hand-in-hand . So if you are looking for the whole package, go somewhere else. If you are looking to just get a massage with no frills, then euro spa is the place to be.
This place is ok. The room was pretty nice and clean for a inn type of hotel. Don't look for anything fancy. It's a cute place for couples.
Pros: Clean, convenient, reasonably priced, great breakfast and afternoon snacks, quiet
Cons: Not super fancy, small pool, and bad spa
If it wasn't for the massage experience I would have given it a 3 star. My massage was pretty bad. My girlfriend liked hers. My masseuse just didn't know what she was doing. At first she was too soft and then when I told her to go a little harder, she started to tear away at my back. One part I completely despised was when they put a hot towel on your back to wipe off the oil. But they don't just do that, they grab your fat and muscle and pull upwards! It was extremely painful! In the end it was not a good massage at all! i've had massages at various places: some of the better ones in Vegas at the venetian spa.
I recommend just to stay at the hotel and do not get the massage! They don't know what they're doing and save your money!
First, let me say that I think some of the other negative reviews of Eurospa are unfair. This is a bed 'n breakfast type of inn, not a five-star resort. Yes, it is in a residential neighborhood, but so are the other B&Bs and inns in Calistoga (e.g., Washington Street Lodging; Golden Haven; Calistoga Inn). Calistoga is a sleepy town where people go to relax. It's not a busy, resort-oriented town with nightclubs and entertainment.
Eurospa used to be a roadside motel, and the rooms have been renovated to resemble individual cottages. You can tell that the owners put a lot into giving this place a face lift. It is in a quiet neighborhood, just two right turns off the main drag (Lincoln Avenue); it is simple to find if you look it up on google or yahoo maps. Even better, it is within walking distance to several good restaurants. Let the front desk attendant know you're dining out, and they have discounts available for most local restaurants.
The rooms/units are small. You have two choices: Either a larger bedroom with a smaller bathroom with tub/shower unit; or a smaller bedroom with a large bathroom that has a jacuzzi tub for two and a separate shower. (That was our choice). The small bedroom did not bother us. We were there to relax.
We started our stay with a couples massage at the spa on the premises. We were greeted by Brian and Isabel and taken to a nice room with two beds, and we had our choice who would massage whom. The massage therapists are very accommodating. If you want more pressure, just tell them. As with anything, if you don't like what they are doing, you should communicate your likes and dislikes. The spa facility looked adequate. However, if you want a wider range of choices, there are several other spas within walking distance. I have been to Lincoln Avenue Spa several times, so I booked the next day's treatments there.
Eurospa has a small, but nice, pool and outdoor jacuzzi. There is a cabana, and you can get your massage poolside, if you wish. WiFi is available free of charge. There is cable tv, a microwave, fridge with small freezer, and a coffee maker with whole-bean grinder. Take plates & utensils if you want to "cook" in your room.
Afternoon snacks and sparkling cider are served every afternoon at 4pm. A continental breakfast is available between 8 and 10 and includes freshly made pastries, breads, english muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, coffee and tea. If you want a full, hearty breakfast, there are a couple of diners/cafes located a few blocks away ... an easy walk.
If you are looking for a quiet, romantic, relaxing get-away, then I highly recommend Eurospa. On the other hand, if you want room service, night life, and a resort type of hotel, then stay in Napa proper because you won't find many places like that once you head north on Highway 29.
If I owned Eurospa, one thing I would invest in would be replacing the mattresses and upgrading the linens. The bed was OK, but I'm spoiled by having a sleep-number bed at home, so that might just be my preference. And the towels were adequate but not fluffy enough for me. Everything else was nice, and we would definitely go back ! :)
Cute, intimate, friendly and very Calistoga.
I love the relaxed and comfortable vibe of this inn, which was perfect for our short best friend's wedding weekend getaway. Continental breakfast and afternoon snacks served complimentary every day, and the rooms/bathrooms are clean and warm.
It's not a luxurious spa, but perfect for those who don't want to spend a ton for a couple of nights in the Valley.

We stayed at the Inn and got a couples massage in their spa. I'm only giving it two stars because "Meh. I've experienced better." explains my sentiments exactly. It really is not much more than a motel tucked in an otherwise residential neighborhood about 2 blocks off the main drag in downtown. We were surprised to be able to get a last minute reservation. The biggest plus is simply the location. But I thought it was expensive for what it is. And considering what we paid I was disappointed by the sandpaper-like toilet paper that chafes your ass, and they have a little sign instructing you to "hold down the handle" on the toilet rather than spending the $10 in parts to just get the thing fixed. There is no safe to lock up your belongings, like your computer, but the wifi is at least free!
The massage I found to be particularly unrewarding. I didn't know what to expect from the couples massage but since you're too far apart to even hold hands it's nothing more than two people getting a massage in the same room at the same time. The masseuses would whisper in our ear as to not disturb the other person getting a massage...like anything is a secret?? But my masseuse kept putting her hands underneath me and rocking me back and forth. It really didn't feel good and I wished she would stop. They make a point of showing you the envelopes to leave a tip, which we did because it is the polite thing to do, not because we felt it was well deserved. (I can get a better massage in the south bay for $30 less)
All in all not a terrible experience, just overpriced because of the location.
Definitely a solid choice if you get a room with a two person jacuzzi tub. I think I used that tub at least once a day during my stay. The rooms are a little cramped except for the bath room - which really didn't matter to us, as we were not in the room that much.
the free breakfast was quite good.
I spoke to a friend who stayed here but doesn't yelp. It can be summed up thusly:
"There's nothing European about this place, but it was available last minute".

[REVIEW IS FOR THEIR SPA]
Eurospa's website only has stock photos, and when a website only has stock photography, you get a little suspicious of what it is hiding.
So I came to Eurospa admittedly a little skeptical.
Ultra-luxurious and sleek it is not. But it is small and cute (rather than clinical and dingy, which is what I was concerned about).
Had a great spa experience here. Although due to a scheduling mix up, they didn't have time for my massage. BAH. In its stead, the owner offered to let me skinny dip in the jacuzzi in the back, just me and the rolling vineyards. Not too shabby.
I don't know about the hotel, which it is connected to, but with separate entrances. It seemed like a simple roadside motel - nothing more than that.

This is a really charming place to stay in Calistoga. It is off the main street so it is really quiet but you can walk down a block for shopping and restaurants. The rooms are in bungalows that are nicely appointed with a large bathroom. Ours had a 2-person jacuzzi in it! There were no vacancies but the place was very quiet since there is no one above you and the walls seem well-insulated.
The staff are very friendly and there is a nice continental breakfast in the morning and refreshments served in the afternoon. Reasonable rates. We'll definitely return.
For my birthday I was treated to a getaway package at this Spa and Inn. The package included a horseback riding trip in Bothe Napa Valley State Park and a spa massage. (I have reviewed the park and the horseback riding trip in separately).
The Inn is conveniently located off the Hwy 29 and is just a 2 block walk to downtown Calistoga. It is also away enough that you do not hear the traffic from the road. The place is small but quaint. The rooms are reasonably sized and ours came with a bath equipped with jets. However, the bath is barely big enough for one. The facilities include a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The area surrounding the pool and jacuzzi were nicely landscaped. We were fortunate enough that we came on a weekday and there were not many people staying at the Inn. I went several times to enjoy swimming in the pool and relaxing my sore muscles in the jacuzzi and was happily the only one there.
The Inn has a few small touches that worth mentioning. They include: a free breakfast and afternoon snack(freshly baked cookies), a small kitchenette with a coffee grinder and pot so you can have fresh coffee brewed in your room, spa type robes to go to the pool and a little deck to enjoy outside your room. Things that they can improve upon include making the room a little less hospital smelling, using fabric softener in their laundry, a seamstress to make sure the robes are in nicer condition and better lighting system.
The spa is really not much of a spa. It consists of several rooms for massages or other "spa like" treatments. Our masseuses were a bit inexperienced and not very good at managing time. I felt that the masseuse spent a lot of time looking for things, I kept hearing the clacking and shuffling of things on the table. Not really what you want to hear when you are trying to feel pampered. He would spend time rubbing my muscles on the right side and then quickly do half the time to the left. The massage ended abruptly, he had me turnover, he worked on my legs (sore from the horseback riding) and started on my neck and then said, oh time's up. In addition, the receptionist, was not very considerate and chatting fairly loudly during the massage session. So you have to either, muzzle her, or invest in sound proofing.
Overall, the staff were nice. Negative spa experience aside, the getaway package was very nice and I had an enjoyable birthday.
This is a review of the spa since we didn't actually stay at the inn. The massage was pretty good (in other words I did not wake up in pain the next day, but wasn't the best massage I've ever had either)
The real issue with this place, besides the pretentious name and the very motel like appearance, is the customer service. We paid for the spa services at the front desk and the receptionist treated us like we were trying to sell her a family of skunks. Then we were directed to the spa where we arrived a few minutes early. While we were waiting for our treatment, I found out that there was a special on the services we had already paid for. Apparently the policy is to not ever mention sales/specials and hope the customers don't find out about them? Since we had paid with a gift certificate, we were given our $20 back as another gift certificate. Considering a 1 hr massage costs $90, $20 does not go a long way. We were given the impression that the $20 would be returned as cash, otherwise we probably would've opted for aromatherapy or some other way to use up this last little bit of the gift certificate.
Very comfy place for a relaxing couple's getaway. It doesn't look like much from the street, but that turns out to be part of this place's charm. EuroSpace is tucked off on a quiet side-street, between the residential section and the vineyards. Although only a short block or two from the main strip, it feels like you're out in the soothing quiet of the country.
The room was neither especially big nor small. Just clean and friendly, with a king sized bed that was attractive and sturdy. My companion noted with amusement that there's room enough underneath to ether hide from an angry husband or permanently lose track of your hairbrush. LOL.
The two-person jacuzzi is not available in every room, but there's a nice 5-6 person hot tub out by the pool. The pool itself is small and kidney-shaped so if you need a morning lap swim, you're out of luck.
The food is a wecome step up from that coffee/donut combo that passes for "continental breakfast" at many of the chain establishments. What a pleasure to browse a buffet of fresh fruit salad (strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, and cantaloupe), yogurt, granola, marvelous french croissants, hard boiled eggs, english muffins, choice of pastries, and more.
The dining area is a covered patio with plenty of skylights and a central gas fireplace, so should be cozy and inviting nearly any time of year. Though during the rainy season, keep in mind that you'll have to cross the parking lot to get there. Bring an umbrella. I didn't inquire about room service, but would be surprised if they offer any. The manager seems to have chosen to sprinkle the place with thoughtful little amenities, to make up for some pretty minimalist staffing. That's fine with me. It's nice to have the majority of your needs already met un-asked, rather than have to call the desk constantly.
Though my overall impression was positive, I do have to admit surprise at some fairly obvious details they'd somehow overlooked:
* fresh coffee beans, grinder, and maker -- yet no sugar, creamer, or spoons
* nice soaps, shampoo and conditioner -- but no moisturizer
* the toilet handle had been left unscrewed
* the desk clerk neglected to mention at check-in that a message had arrived for me
* terrificly thick, oh so soft bath robes -- yet total skimped out on the towels. Rough texture, not very absorbant, and too few of them (1 washcloth, 1 hand towel, a pair of hand towels laid down as bathmat, and 2 standard bath towels -- not even a single bathsheet). Do yourself a favor, and just wrap yourself in the robe as soon as you hop out of the tub or pool.
* in 75+ degree weather, the room's gas fireplace (cute!) AND electric heater had been left running. I can't imagine why, since the weather had been in the 70s all week. Wow, had it left the room hot. It took running the noisy a/c all night to get the temp down to something reasonable.
I'd pictured the front porches being a little bigger. It turned out to be one long shared porch, wide enough for a tiny cafe table in front of each room, with space enough for the other guests to brush past you on the way to their own rooms. So while the place has some nice ambience otherwise, it's not conducive to snuggling together on the porch. Oh well.
The porch is also the one achilles heel in regard to sound insulation. We weren't disturbed a bit by neighboring rooms. But the footfalls, the squeak of loose porch boards, and conversation from outside comes in a fair bit, unfortunately. Luckily, it's the kind of place where everyone's feeling pretty mellow to begin with, so the few minor irritations didn't disrupt what was overall a pleasant little getaway.
This is a very cozy and charming little place to stay while enjoying Calistoga and the wine country - and one of the few that allows a "less than 3 nite stay" during the summer. The complimentary continental breakfast was simply delicious; some of the best coffee and pastries I've had. We had to move rooms (due to late booking) during our stay - but the staff took care of it while we were out.
Spa massage was good, not great. I agree with the Yelper who mentioned the spa receptionist needing to be muzzled. She's sweet, but talks SOOO loudly that we heard her voice throughout most of our couples massage. Not overly relaxing, I'm afraid.
Will I go back - most likely yes. I'm already checking it out for a "Girl's Weekend to Napa" as they have two rooms that sleep 4!!
Cuter than you would think!
I don't think their website illustrates really how cute it is. So let me tell you, with words!
The rooms have very sweet shabby-chic bedding on comfy mattresses with just the right amount of pillows, a very sturdy frame, and bedside lamps with crystal accents. The bathrobes are pretty sweet- waffled cotton lined with microfiber, and their mini shampoos are adorable with leaf skeletons (does that make sense?) and the smells of aloe. Mmmm.
The room comes fully equipped with mini-fridge, sink, coffee grinder (& maker), wine key and 2 glasses, and even a tray on the wall to bring it all over to the bed for your romancing and relaxing pleasure.
Oh, was that tray covering the fuse box?
....ok, so this is not the most classiest place in all the Napa Valley. But you should have surmised that when the room was priced below $250 a night, right?
You are literally one block off the main street, which is nice for all the strolling that one is apt to do in Calistoga. Maybe the best part is that the hosts really take care of your snack needs. We missed afternoon snack time, but the continental breakfast here is not your run of the mill crap. Orange juice AND apple. Pastries AND several types of toast. English muffins. FRUIT SALAD. Eggs and yogurt, or in our lucky cases New Years day, cool little bacon and egg sammys! I am a sucker for a sammy!
Gold stars. I will totally stay here again, and check out their spa treatments. Ps, we had room 11. They told us that it was a single, but it was also the last room available with a Jacuzzi. We found it neither cramped nor dank. The end.
Oh, Pss, the guy who checked us in. Is. A. Magician.
You should inquire as to his shows. And tell him to check out Stallion http://www.stallionmag.../

Needed a cheap (cheap being relative for wine country) place to stay in Calistoga. Eurospa is more quirky-charming than the Clarion or Best Western for roughly the same price. Our room was fairly large, with a confortable bed and bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The owners are friendly and offer up a nice continental breakfast in the morning and coffee and fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. While it's not super luxurious, we were comfortable and happy and would stay there again if we're ever in the area.
More a retro- Los Angeles drive in motel than anything this quirky place works as a base for exploring the area up to Lake Sonoma and south to Napa or Sonoma. When booking at Eurospa be sure to avoid room 11. It is cramped, dank and overall unpleasant.
A few good restaurants in Calistoga. We liked Flatiron Grill for its straightforward offerings. Bosko is terrible.
My husband and I had a nice experience. The rooms were reasonably priced, amenities were of good quality, and location was convenient. Complimentary breakfast and wifi is a nice touch. The owner of the inn used to be a former chef, and he will bake some of the items offered for breakfast. Afternoon snack consisted of homemade cookies which were really tasty.
