When I first discovered Euro Market I was as happy as little kid on Christmas Eve!
I used to live in Flushing aka Residental China Town (since Chinatown manhattan is where their businesses are & flushing is where they live). All the supermarkets, signs and everything were all in CHINESE! Everyone spoke N O T H I N G but chinese! Even if they spoke english they spoke to you in CHINESE! SO I'd shop here.
I don't always understand most of the products but as far as foreign supermarkets at least the staff explains everything in great detail and let's you know all the different ways of using the products they sell unlike my ex neighborhood. Sometimes they even have a sticker in with an American English translation of the ingredients, purpose of use, & even a nutritional list.
Some of the staff isn't great at english but they try their best and that still counts.
They have a veryyyy large variety of Everything! I love this supermarket because they sell all of Europe's best & most popular products. In Europe mostly everything is made which natural ingredients and even if the other half of the products are made with natural ingredients it's a lot less than what most consumers use.
I always buy tea, meat, cheese, juice, beer, cookies, baking ingredients, lentils, soups, water, sparkling water, etc.... here.
Euro Market is incredible they have a variety of all that I've listed above. I love their products! The teas that they sell are for a variety of things! Their prices aren't bad, they're pretty moderate for imports.
No other store could replace Euro Market & Rio Bonito! Those are my two favorite supermarkets!
as for flushing...i will never return there ever again, even if you paid me!
Amazing beer selection.
There are lots of interesting other imported products, like jams, grains, and candies. One could explore the aisles over and over again...
I wish this place was a little closer to me, 'cause I'd come here all the time. Good products!
the best place to get beer!!!!
i only come here for their enormous selection of beers.
i know they sell other things but the beer is the most important to me.
also the prices are reasonable.
This place gets five stars for beer selection alone. Everything else is icing on the cake.
Good place to take mushrooms, I mean buy mushroom gnocci, my bad. Anyways, went there for first time and felt like I was in a dream supermarket with things I have only thought up of or imagined while incapacitated. A full isle of javhar (pardon the spelling) and I somehow didn't buy any? Coffee Flavored syrup and Honey from New Zealand, not to mention any type of gravy that could be made from a sea or land mamal. I was temped to get the jerk seasoning there, but i break out like a geek from that stuff even though I love it. One of the best beer Isles ever. And ever with all the great beers the item that caught my attention was a a six pack of Amstel Light tall boy cans!!! That is like the cure for the guy who hangs out at the horse track betting but wants to look stylish and loose weight at the same time (yes I am describing myself). The deli guy was tops, I could of gotten a rack of ribs at 11:30 am cut into pieces and this guy would have been cool about it. The guy at the counter was tops! A real mans man, and he even let me know that I dropped my credit card on the sidewalk. I owe him many thanks. I am a sucker for Olive bars and this one was great. Next time I am going to get the Irish smoked pork loin and some plum butter. I'll go to OTB and show them a thing or two.
Since yelping the first time I have literally stopped here every day after work for beer or bread or whatever. This is the kind of place I would fight for. You can quote me.
By the way, here's something fun you can do. Buy something, pay, and then ask what it is. People in this city think you are kinda crazy if you buy something without knowing what it is.

I'm just going to say it. I love Astoria. Loving Astoria means loving the Euromarket. Disagree?… Read more »
blah blah blah yeah whatever they have cheese and olives and specialty foods in languages I can't read. There is one language that is made universal by colorful packaging and funky shapes/colors. This, my friend, is the language of love, the language of SUGAR!!!!
*in my best Cornholio voice*
SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!
THEY HAVE FLAVORS AND VARIETIES OF HARIBO SNACKS I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fizzy Cola, Chamallows, Micro Mix, Milky Mix, Yogi Frutti, Sour Cherries, Horror Mix, Jelly Babies, Fruity Frogs, RHUBARB AND CUSTARD, Rotella, Jolly Joggers, Piratos
And they have Kinder Eggs
While I drool over the candy, Hubby drools over the beer. I have been known to circle the candy display so much that I get dizzy. Nobody is ever in here when I go, so I have the store allllllllllllll too myself. Horraaaaaay for candy!!!!
*Swoon* Euro Market, I love you. This is where I go to get great food for not a lot of money, where I go to get everything I need for a picnic and where I stare longingly at the beer selection.
The olive selection alone is enough to make you never want to leave. Then you look at the deli counter and have them make you a sandwich. Amazing. I'm partial to smoked gouda with ANYTHING on a roll here. The sandwiches are huge and mine usually end up being under $4! Make sure to get one of the $1 creme brulee flavored croissants in a package. Super sweet but super delicious. Yummmm.
They sell stuff other than beer here? Interesting.
Two Fridays ago I had the perfect idea. Ignore all of my friends, go to Euro Market, buy a 6 pack of beer I had never heard of before and drink it by myself while watching the Yankees.
The beer section (section doesn't even really do it justice) is truly awe-inspiring. I was the proverbial kid in a candy store, or perhaps more accurately, the proverbial 30 year old beer drinker staring at row upon row of beer.
I ended up going with something called Kostritzer Schwarzbier, the description on the bottle, "the black beer with the blond soul" convinced me. Good stuff, and well worth the price ($10 or so). I will always go here for my obscure beer needs, whether or not I am feeling anti-social.
Note: I did notice the price tags on the individual bottles while I was searching/drooling, but I didn't even think of making my own 6 packs as is mentioned in an earlier review. The next time I go back to Euromarket to make my own 6 pack of beers I've never had before, it may take me so long that they start charging rent. I cannot wait.
If you buy grocery items with labels on them in foreign languages,
and calories given in metrics and servings listed with obscure symbols
Then it's not that bad for ya.
As a matter of fact, it's good for ya.
It's essentially health food.
Nutella, Marzipan, Haribo, Milka.....
Go Ahead.
Knock yourself out.
This is my happy place. For a while I thought it was the beach in Brazil, or for a short time in 2006 the back of Brandy Library, but no, it's really EuroMarket. I just smile when I walk by the aisle with the Hungarian Beef Stew cans that have a big picture of a cow on the front.
I like to mix & match random beers with a theme. This week is pumpkin. I managed to find 6 varieties to make myself a pack. The tasting is scheduled to commence shortly.
Breathtaking micro/import brew selection. Wall-of-beer. Maybe 200 various breweries represented (and all cold). Prices very reasonable. Specialty meats as well, cut to order. Fresh olives by the pound.
Why review a grocery store? Because it's fabulous:
Exhibit A: This one factor alone should convince a number of people to stop in. Beer. A whole wall of it. Organized by some inscrutably divine system which means you will stand and stare at it for at least thirty seconds before being able to start the decision making process. Domestic and international brews and microbrews, priced by the bottle to encourage making your own six pack. Everything you ever dreamed of.
Exhibit B: Candy. The enormous display in the front is only a teaser, because you're bound to find more hidden gems for your sweet tooth down every aisle. Irish, German, Turkish, and all other European and Mediterranean varieties, many of which contain ingredients you will only be able to guess at based on the picture.
Exhibit C: Everything else. The store is arranged haphazardly (if there's a system, I haven't yet figured it out,) with different ethnicities, flavors, and countries of origin stacked beside and atop one another down the aisles. There's no "cookie" aisle, and there's no "Greek" section, instead you may find Italian olive tappenade alongside Turkish delight, a shelf above Irish digestive biscuits. It's amazing.
I love going into grocery stores where I can't understand any of the packaging. Normally this language barrier occurs in some of the major Asian and So. Asian communities in the city. However in Astoria's EuroMart you are confronted by product descriptions in Russian/French/German and Greek rather than Chinese/Korean/ and Hindi.
The Market itself is a full size Super Market filled to the brim with imports from Europe. From Spanish Jamon to Turkish Pickles every country gets their due. They have a wide selection of beer, olives, cheeses and smoked meats all organized by country of origin.
Most interesting are some of the more mundane comfort foods from these regions, like baked beans from Ireland and Canned Soda from Russia. These products are there not because they are gourmet imports but because they are a piece of home to so many in the community. They all serve as a reminder of the depth of the cultural diversity that exists in New York, and especially western Queens.
I dont know why I was expecting something better...bigger...
Not bad, and some very cool imports. Beer selection is very good, but there are several stores in Greenpoint and W-burg with just as good if not better. If it's in your neighborhood, great, otherwise not worth traveling for.
beer, beer, and more beer.
if you love beer, you love this store.
and i love that i live across the street.
if only it gave me more reasons (fresh produce?) not to go to key foods, i'd give it 5 stars.
This is a fantastic place to go for specialty beers from Belgium, U.K. and domestic craft brews.
