A friend recommended ET Surf after talking about my desire to get my own gear this second season of snowboarding. I showed up today with a board I bought to get it tuned/waxed. One guy (the receipt says Trevor so I'll call him that for now :) showed up as I was approaching the back end of the store. He carried the board to the back and told me that I didn't even need the "full tune up" for the board (just one level down at around $25 This might be simple but I really appreciated the fact that I wasn't sold on spending more money i.e. "you need to get this thing overhauled". Honesty goes a long way.
After going over some snowboard info/tips, I asked him if I could try on some boots. Trevor made some recommendations and gave me tips on sizing and such. I brought my snowboarding socks to make sure I could find something that fit. While I was trying them on, another staffer noticed and mentioned that there were some older boots (from the past season) that fit me on sale. I tried those on and was sold.
The shop wasn't too busy (just before lunch on a Sunday), but I don't think that'd make a difference. There are two stores separated by a tiny parking lot. The skate/surf/snow side has decent snowboard/clothing/gear stock. I didn't look around at the clothes this time around but there were racks of clothes at discounted rates. I'd say the pricing is pretty decent - but I'm a snowboarding noob :)
So.... I saved money and I was provided with really awesome service. The staff is really knowledgeable. Since I'm new to the world of snowboarding still, I'm easily intimidated but I really liked going into ET Surf. I bought my Burton boots at 40% off and have all my gear this season! This is my new shop to go to from now on.
Keven Anderson just helped me out with a new wetsuit. Best place to shop ever, anywhere! Since I was 9 years old, ET Surf has treated me like I was a special person, not just a customer. I am very grateful for the decades of kindness and great service.
What can I say about ET, I got my first skateboard here. That said they are one of the few things in hermosa beach that have not changed. They haven't changed since the Circle Jerks claimed they were a Fleetwood mac cover band and almost started a riot at Pollywog park in Manhattan Beach. The staff is knowledgeable and a great selection of stuff. If your in the South Bay and need a new board or wetsuit, hit up ET you won't be disappointed.
I've known Eddie 4 only 7 yrs. I know huge amount of folks who've known HIM and his staff since He & they were teenAGERS. ETsurf is like a BLACK hole , there is a event horizon that will SUCK U in . He will make U a surfer , a skakeBOADER or a snowBOADER if it anyWAY possible. THEY take NO prisoners HANDS down the class ACT of the SURFin SOUTH BAY 4 over 30 yrs. YES EDDIE is a hundred yrs OLD.

This place is a great one to buy a board as a gift. I don't surf but my significant other does. Check in and see Mikey, he's loads of fun. guy that you can tell has spent lots of time in the water and loves boards.
they've got a bunch to choose from and a good trade in policy.
they sell some girl clothes and shoes.
there's a bathroom with the toilet up on this big slab so you feel like you're tiny cause you can't really put your feet on the floor. i"d go there just for the bathroom experience if you're not into surfing.
and as a perk there's a dog that hangs out there, his name is "buddy' and he chases this little ball.

updates: My husband and I have been back a few times ...including a trip that got us a board, sold back a board, got me a wetsuit, him a thicker wetsuit , me a cute little skirt , him 4 pairs of board shorts and then down the line got his wetsuit fixed due to some stitching coming out. The staff is consistently helpful. ET surf is a great place to shop!
