I read some of the reviews here and felt compelled by some of the ratings and comments to post.
If you're looking for a dental office you can build a relationship with, check out Esthetic Dentistry.
I've been going to Esthetic Dentistry for a few years now . Frankly, I presented them with a bit of a complicated science project- namely implants started by another place years before and never finished (I was a bit traumatized by the treatment of the other office and just couldn't get myself to address getting things finished). When I was finally ready, I was naturally concerned about the possibility of further damage I may have done by waiting so long- not to mention cost and outcome.
Though I knew I was embarking on a journey I have to say Dr. Mirzayan made me feel comfortable and confident in his approach every step of the way- and while I knew he'd make things a lot better, the outcome surpassed even what I'd been hoping for which says a lot (I'm a girl with high expectations!)
I encourage you to experience for yourself:
1. Friendly, accommodating staff
2. Knowledgeable Doctors who take the time to explain EVERYTHING.
3. Technology I've never seen in a dental office before that really saves time.
4. The most gentle hygienist. Ever.
Though the office is not all that close to were I live and work, I continue to make the trek twice a year knowing I'm going to get the best care from friendly, knowledgeable people- and it won't take all day.
I trust them completely.
As for a couple of the comments:
I have never been called repeatedly with appointment reminder- they come to my email. i can choose to email back or call to confirm or change my appointment.
I consider x-rays twice a year to be critical to my dental care- I can't imagine expecting to get the best dental care without them. Maybe the guy who complained about them being required is cool with trusting his own judgment but I've seen enough to know x-rays are just as important as regular cleanings. They should be required for the protection of the patient and the practice. -

I've been going to Dr. Lee for years, and she's the best dentist I've ever been to. She's also the only dentist who never tried to talk me into taking out my old fillings and replacing them with new ones. She's cleaned, drilled, filled, capped, crowned and invisaligned my teeth, and each time, I've been very happy with the results. She's so incredibly thorough and gentle.

This is the best dental office in L.A. The staff is so down to earth and everything is so clean and parking is provided. I love how caring everyone is. I wish I found Esthetic Dentistry along time ago. Out of all my past dental offices in CA, AZ, CO and OR, this one is the best!!

Armen gave me a wrong diagnosis. Said i needed my tooth pulled, saying I could get an infection, and if I did not get it pulled ASAP it could lead to dire consequences. This of course, freaked me out- and his bedside manor was to be desired. By this I mean, he was cold. I took it to another dentist for another opinion and they said my tooth were fine and did not require any surgery.

Recently had a slight falling out with the group. Everyone is as nice as can be, and they do very good dentistry... but I simply don't want xrays every single time I go in, and unfortunately they "require" it. They "let me off" the last time I was in with just a cleaning, but they actually said that the next time I came in, I was required to get an xray. Excuse me? Who's the customer? I know you want to do the best job that you can, and find anything wrong so we can fix it, but I've had my teeth for a long time and I'm pretty confident in their health.
So out of nowhere I get a phantom invoice for $55 stating "periodic oral evaluation" with no other information. I called and left a voicemail with no response, until I called a second time. It was of course a mistake, and the charge was cleared, but I wonder if this happens often.....?

APPOINTMENT PROCESS:
As a small business, i do understand how they need to fill up their appointment book as much as possible. But it has been almost a harassing level where they constantly call you - daily - to confirm the appointment, if i miss their calls. One courtesy call to remind the appointment is standard and i just don't want to deal with this level of frequent calling from a doctor's office.
Even after i confirmed the appointment, they were still calling. The unpleasant thing about it is that they don't leave a message and just continue to call daily.
The main receptionist there seemed professional enough but it was very hard to communicate with her in a short, straight forward manner, as she tends to reiterate and repeat everything over and over without listening to me on exactly what I am asking or requesting.
I had my first appointment on 10/22/09 at 11:30am. And i was on time. But it turned out my appointment was 11am, not 11:30am and of course, they acted like they are right and I took down the info wrong when i made the appointment.
I had my second appointment today, 7/9/10 at 11:30am. And guess what? Once again, they called me around 11:10am to let me know I am late for my supposedly 11am appointment. I just floored. I live 15 minute (walking distance) and I was on my way to the office when i got the call. I was just so perplexed that I canceled my appointment then and ended up taking my daily walk.
I always put the appointment info in my iPhone as i am on the phone with a receptionist so it is almost impossible that i get the info wrong. The bottom line is i do not have this type of experience with any other doctor's office.
OVERAL EXPERIENCE:
My first visit was only for cleaning but we ended up doing some x-rays even though i brought my own copy of x-rays. Apparently my x-rays were not good quality. But it is understandable. When you see a new dentist, they do want to do their own x-rays. So the visit ended up almost 2 hour long.
Dr. Armen M. seems okay but i thought the way he handled my mouth was a bit rough.
I do recognize that they are trying very hard to build their business by being up-to-date in their field and more. But i just didn't have smooth, pleasant experience overall - at all.
I was hoping to find a new dentist here in Downtown but they are not for me. I have to go back to my old dentist in Santa Monica. -

Great staff and you're really in and out in an hour. Very convenient when you want to go on your lunch break. Both doctors are friendly and knowledgeable, along w/ all the staff. They use technology to their advantage in all that they do. When they take your x-rays, the images show up instantly on the flat screen in front of you. Also, their new office is larger and very chic. Thanks for keeping my smile healthy!

I am writing this review three days after I visited Esthetic Dentistry to get a crown done with the Cerec (one day crown) method.
I am very impressed with this office and the staff. From the time I called to book my appointment I felt reassured and taken care of by the staff. (Dee is so helpful and on top of everything!) Which is a nice feeling when you know you're going in for a major procedure.
The main reason I chose ED was because of the good reviews I read on Yelp and because Dr. Mirzayan is an expert in the Cerec method. I did not want to do a traditional crown where you go in and then have to return 2 weeks later for the permanent. And when i found out doing a crown with Cerec was about the same price as a traditional crown I was even more excited. Plus ED is so easy to get to from Koreatown, where I live. A lot of plusses!
The staff are all very courteous and go out of their way to welcome you and explain everything. The technology in the office blows me away. It was impressive and it made me feel that yes, I had chosen the right place!
Dr. Mirzayan himself is a real pro. He's calm and very focussed and clearly a great dentist. The whole procedure took about 4 hours! It was a long one (I also got xrays, a cleaning and watched a Woody Allen movie while it was all happening!)
I feel really good about my experience here. At this moment, as I write this, I do have a fair amount of pain around the gums of the tooth I had the work on, and I wonder if this is normal or if I may have a wee infection. I'm sure I will be able to talk to the doctor tomorrow about this.
Also, one other minor concern was that I was told parking was free and that they validated. That is true but it is only for 3 hours maximum and that one extra hour cost me $17 at the parking garage! I was in shock that I had to pay anything let alone that much.
Thank goodness I had such a good experience at the dentist...so I forgave the fact that this information (the 3 hour maximum) was not relayed to me ahead of time.
In the end, I highly recommend this dentist to anyone who wants to get a crown by a pro and in one day. I will update as I see fit...I am hoping to get a night guard made with them next (to protect my Cerec crown and other teeth from anymore night time grinding!)
They also seem to be experts in Invisalign if that tickles your fancy. If I was interested in that I would definitely go here.
Oh yes, and Dr. Mirzayan is the dentist to the Dodgers...how cool is that?? -

Yes, I'm reviewing a dental office! I'm sure all of you hate the dentist but this place is really great! The staff is wonderful and very friendly! They have a beautiful office in downtown Los Angeles. I work in downtown LA, so this place is very convenient for me!
I have the best dentist! Dr. Jean Lee-Mirzayan and her husband, Dr. Mirzayan run this place. They try to make you feel as comfortable as you possibly can while your teeth are getting drilled away. They even put a movie on for you while getting your procedure done.
Its bad enough going to the dentist, so choosing the right one is key. I highly recommend this place! -

Just kidding, but really though, I am kinda vain and you do have to go to a dentist regularly to keep a great smile. That's why I thought I'd tell ya'll about my dentist at Esthetic Dentistry in Downtown LA cause I looove them!
First of all, Dr. Armen Mirzayan and his wife, Jean Lee-Mirzayan are true experts in their field, which is critical when people are putting drills in your mouth, you know? Dr. Armen (as I call him) has been performing (and training other dentists) some of the most advanced procedures in dentistry longer than most in his field (like Cerec, where he does a complete crown in ONE visit...meaning...I don't have to go back again and get drilled to replace a temp w/ the real crown!). His wife, Jean Lee-Mirzayan, has a very gentle and informative approach, which set me at ease. Plus, she's an Invisalign expert, so I was able to pick her brain about how that might work for me and what it would cost. I passed on invisalign for now, but I go regularly for the 'ole cleaning/check-up and the Zoom One Hour Teeth Whitening. I even get to watch a movie the whole time!
Esthetic Dentistry is located right in downtown LA in one of the few buildings w/ easy parking and they validate (7th and Fig Shopping Center). The office is zen-like and super clean, and the staff is friendly and nurturing. They really made me feel comfortable, so I'm sure they'll do the same for you! -

Great service. Long overdue cleaning and free whitening with amazing results. Dr. Mirzaya was very nice and helpful ( I was a bit scared). Very clean and staff was very courteous. And best of all, I got to watch a movie! What a great distraction! I did have an issue with being charged for a service I didn't receive but it was immediately taken care of. I would definitely recommend.

HOLY. CRAP. This dentist is freakin' AMAZING.
I'm gushing.
I knew I was overdue to see the dentist, but when I found all the great reviews for these guys, I got interested. Then I saw the offer for FREE Zoom Whitening ($450 value), and I couldn't resist. Most places try to skirt around an intro offer, but they actually reminded me about it when I got there!
I can't say enough about how nice everyone in this office is - and beautiful to boot! (They're seriously a nice looking bunch, but not in an intimidating A&F kinda way). Everyone there made me smile, clearly explained every detail, and made everything effortless. I didn't even have to deal with explaining my insurance situation - they checked it all out for me.
If it's been a while since you've been - go here. It's a little weird in the 7th & Fig plaza, but it's a quick walk from the garage and they fully validate your parking.
And did they try to bribe me into writing this review by mailing a free Starbucks card? Yes - AND IT WORKED! :) (Odd choice for a dentist to encourage coffee drinking, but I'll take it none-the-less.)
It's rare that I write reviews. I'm more of a reader (I'm working on it), but it's worth noting when someone's this good. -

Great dentists!
I'm one of those many people who freak out when it comes to dentists. Literally - I cry in the chair, I'm so scared.
My first visit to Drs Mirzayan (husband & wife) was about 4 years ago when my wisdom teeth were coming in and I was in SO MUCH pain. (Of course, it took me being in awful pain for me to make the call!) They referred me to an oral surgeon who, by the way, did an amazing job.
After the wisdom teeth, I kept coming back to Esthetic Dentistry. I was really impressed by their clean, modern & high-tech office. I also really felt comfortable with Dr Lee-Mirzayan. She has such a calm way about her.
In the past 4 years, I'm happy to say that I've returned at least every 6 months for cleanings. I've also had a few cavities filled here, and the experience has been as pleasant as getting a cavity filled can be. The first time, I was able to choose some music to listen to. I chose Shade. Biiiig mistake. Now whenever I hear a Shade song, I think of getting cavities filled!
Anyway - great gentle dentists, very convienient location for those of us who work downtown, and friendly office. I only had one marginal experience related to billing, which is why they lost 1 star. I owed $3.00 and they sent me a bill. I called to pay over the phone and they wouldn't take my credit card because the fee would be more than my payment, or something like that. I had to actually mail a check for $3. Kind of ridiculous, but I guess I get it (????) -

Esthetic Dentristry tries to revamp the dental experience for the patient and they definetely succeed in this regard. The moment you step in as a first-time patient, they take the time to show you around the office and introduce the staff. They have state-of-the art dental tools and technology; I was very impressed when the digital x-rays popped up instantaneously on the screen in front of me. But I think what tops this dental office is the unparalleled patient service. Before I even had a finger laid on a tooth, Dr. Mirzayan (who insisted I call him Armen) spent a few minutes talking with me on my dental concerns and preferences. Throughout the examination, he remained patient and through.
I really appreciate how the staff and Dr. Mirzayan go the extra step. If I have to go to a dentist, I'll happily keep coming here. -

This is by far the best dentist's office I have ever been to. They are courteous, clean, on-time, and efficient. I hate going to the dentist and stopped going for several years until I found Esthetic Dentistry. I work in the building they are in downtown and it could not be more convenient. Staff and both dentists are great. I read some of the other negative quotes about the confirming calls and appointment miscues. I have been going here for probably 4 or 5 years and have never once had an issue. Highest recommendation!!

These guys are excellent. I was in search of a dentist not too long ago. I work near Esthetic Dentistry, and my boss was always going down there to get his teeth done, so I decided to check it out and get my teeth cleaned. I have to say, they are very thorough at this office. They X-ray and take pictures of every single one of your teeth. They don't miss a thing. They also sent me a $5.00 gift card to Starbucks to thank me for coming in. That was really sweet!
I went again the other day to get a deep cleaning done, and they offered a movie or music to listen to to take my mind off the uncomfortable picking sounds from the cleaning. It was really helpful and left me more at ease.
Anyway, they are extremely top-notch here, and I will forever continue to go to them as my dentist. -

Esthetic Dentistry is truly an amazing place. No one likes to go to the dentist but somehow the team at Esthetic Dentistry makes it all worthwhile. My husband and I have been going for years. They do amazing work, have a very pleasant office environment and are reasonably priced. Very high-tech and high-touch as far as making you feel comfortable. The Mirzayans are a husband and wife team -- truly lovely and capable people. The staff (all of them) are super efficient. Melanie gets special mention ... she's very pleasant to work with and explains billing and billing options well. I wholeheartedly give Esthetic Dentistry an A+ and highly recommend them to all. They are conveniently located in Downtown Los Angeles and validate too!

Great staff, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and wonderful "chair side" manner by everyone involved.
Dr. Mirzayan was great and I never felt pressured purchase any of the cosmetic packages. Whether your dental needs are serious or you just need a cleaning-I definitely recommend. -

Found this place through yelp. First visit, they felt pushy with whole invisiline thing. But they did a decent cleaning, so I went back. the next cleaning was not impressive. After the hygenist did the cleaning, the dentist came is for a second, literally. She barely acknowledge me and left. I wanted to ask about my sensitivity issue but she was so rushed that I didn't get even a chance to say anything. So on to looking for another dentist.

heidi l. said it all - concur! esthetic dentistry sweeps you away to a peaceful place and immediately dispels the negative stigma associated with "dental" visits. i feel like I'm in a spa and not a dental office. the dentist's expertise, education and chairside manner is unparalelled. i recommend them to the most dentist phobic people out there. comfort and customer service is key! and as for their general manager - she's amazing! the most accommodating, warm hearted person i've ever met. try esthetic for yourself, you won't forget it!

I found this dentist on line and so I decided to go in about 2 weeks ago. The office is zen like with up to date technology which is a plus. After filling out paperwork I was given a short tour which was also nice. I had X-rays done and it was cool to see them come up right in front of your face on the LCD screen so you could actually see what's going on. So why the 3 stars???.....well, I was there for almost 2 hours for full mouth X-rays and they only cleaned the bottom portion of my mouth and wanted to schedule me to come back in to get the top part cleaned and the 1st phase of my work done (out of 6 phases). I was quoted $6000 in work and mind you I just wanted the necessary work done before I get my braces put on, so I got a second opinion from my ortho dentist and he stated all I needed was a good cleaning and fillings if I needed any. I wanted to get a second opinion so I want to a dentist (within my network) and was told that my teeth were actually not too bad and that all I needed was a good cleaning and some minor details done before I the braces go on and after the braces come off I can have the major work (caps, etc) put on. A good office but no for me.

I have been a patient for several years and love both denstists. They are amazing. The only reason I am giving one star is because of Nadia Vasquez who has been very rude several times. She seemed nice at first, then she turned on me. I made complaints to inform Dr. Mirzayan, but I think she screened the letters, as I have not heard from him or his wife. I hope both dentists can read this so they know that sometimes she is very unprofessional, making assumptions, then reacts in poor judgement.

Dr. Mirzayan is the best dentist I've ever had in LA. It's surprisingly hard to find a place that actually treats you nicely when you have mouth pain when they advertise they will. He really tries his best for you, and I don't think you can ask for more from a dentist. Plus, they have nifty gadgets.

I would recommend this dentist to anyone = ) He is very patient and I am a complete scaredy cat with a super low pain threshold so defn can be a tough customer. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. He has a beautiful space and office in addition to a cozy family feel amongst the staff. I will defn go back and can tell you they provide every service you will ever need for your dental care.

Esthetic Dentistry has got to be one of the BEST dental offices in Los Angeles. Both doctors (Dr. Lee-Mirzayan and Dr. Mirzayan) are extremely professional, knowledgeable and kind. Their staff is so friendly and helpful. The office is absolutely beautiful and they have all of the latest technology. There are so many dentists in LA to choose from that I thought it was worth writing a review about them as they're an exceptional find.
