Review from Mano S.
San Francisco, CA
I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I've visited this place many times and never seen any of this extreme comments.
Not very clean? Are you expecting immaculate carpets, polished hand rails, buffed floors, etc? Then yes it's pretty filthy by those standards. Sure it's not spotless, but in all honesty it's not a dump either. Floors are clean, plenty of garbage can's in the play areas which are regularly emptied out and the only complaint I have is that the wet sauna needs to be cleaned more regularly. Again, it's not dirty, but needs to be spruced up since it's showing its age. Also, there may be a used bed, but guess what, there are *lots* of them up there. You can always find one that's not soaked in.
The staff are far from rude or have any attitude. Even when there is a long line at the counters, they are polite and personable. They answer first timer's questions and explain the policy in detail to them. Really, there's not much more than that besides giving you a lock and towel.
Their lockers are ok and are banged up a bit and a few have coat hooks missing, but still serviceable and it's not like they can't be locked. They do have a safe-sex policy, but they can't baby monitor everyone having sex. They provide condoms EVERYWHERE so there is no excuse for YOU not to use protection. It takes 2 to do it and only 1 of you to put the rubber on. It's not that complex.
Lastly for the comments about down rating because Eros doesn't supply models with amazing bodies when they visit.... you've got bigger issues bud. Eros is a safe place to have sex irregardless of who visits. Many times that I went, I didn't find anyone to connect with and well, that's the way the world works. I'm not going to rant and put low marks because *I* didn't see Mr-Right-Now to get laid. You are probably better off at a bar and just flirting with everyone there.
It's a hit or miss at clubs like these where ever you go. I actually found that the best times are right around 7PM and that's where the most variety of men stop by. As strange as it sounds, sometimes the late crowd (past 10) isn't all that great even though you think it would be jumping at that time slot.
Overall, this is a good place to relax, whether you chill at the saunas, watch other folks or even get lucky. The one caveat is that there are no private rooms in the play area. It's a large open room with bunk beds all over the place. If the thought of people staring at you while you make out (or whatever) creeps you out, then this is not place for you.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Guy h.

Not a pleasant place. It's not very clean for starters, and the sauna/steam rooms work very ifffily. It touts a safe-sex policy that , though appealing, no one seems to care about enforcing. (Signs on the club walls categorically forbid poppers, but their real meaning is: Hide your poppers under your towel.) And finally, the staff gives more attitude than any thing about them warrants.

Review from Mark S.
My boyfriend and I went last night and had an enjoyable time. The facility is clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I was happy to find out how trans friendly the staff is so that i could recommend it to a trans friend of mine.
There is a steamroom, sauna, and then a maze upstairs with beds and areas to have sex . This was our first experience in a space like this, and I'm glad to report it's not as scary or intimidating as I thought it would be.
We went on under 30 night (thursdays) but most of the guys were over thirty. I would have appreciated a few more younger people there, but I refuse to be one of those young people who bashes the older gentlemen. We all get old people, and frankly the older guys are usually the friendliest and most respectful if you are nice to them.
As soon as we would start fooling around with someone, a large group would gather to watch or get involved. Sometimes that was f un, sometimes it was a buzz kill. A few guys didn't know what "no" meant on the first try, but no one was too pushy.
Everyone was very smiley and friendly and respectful. I found that if i stayed covered with my towell it meant I was taking a break or not interested, and people respected that. -

Three of the reviews here were written by people who have never been inside the place and one by someone who works there. Geez!
I went to this place the night they opened many years ago and figured it would be an extremely popular place since there is no competition in this part of town. I visit a few times a year and it hasn't changed much. The sauna and steam room are great on a cold night and you can get a good massage for a decent price.
However, somehow this place never caught on. I wonder how they stay in business with only 20 guys or so there on a Saturday night when you would expect the place to be hopping.
The place smells terrible. The carpet on the stairs is rotted and they don't enforce the "no poppers" rule. There is no privacy and the upstairs part is usually limited to a few guys touching themselves as they watch porn. There are no private rooms. The same people who ignored you earlier will stand around and watch you having sex when you hook up with someone.
The exception is the steam room. The steam provides some privacy and the small space prevents the roaming that goes on in the rest of the place. This is where most of the action is.
When you just need to be around naked guys or want sex without having to hang out in a bar or sit through dinner with someone, Eros is there for you. -

What a dump! I left about 10 minutes after I got there.I wasn't able to handle the cadavers walking around in the 'sex club', the bad lighting, and the cheap/old furniture. Needless to say, I threw away the 'frequent fucker' card they gave me. That is my first and last time there.

Review from Jere K.
San Francisco, CA
Yeah, I've checked it out a few times... always on the weekend when I've gotten tired of the endless games at the bars. On the weekends, there's a pretty good mix of men and I've definately had some fun.
I wish that they had private rooms, but SF politics don't allow that, so I usually just try to find a quiet corner or area. I have to admit, though, I get a bit of a thrill from the voyeurs who inevitable gather whenever something interesting starts to happen.
Anyway, I haven't taken advantage of the sauna or steamroom, I usually just hang out on the second floor or the smoking patio until it's time to take a shower and clean up.
The staff is friendly and the place is a lot cleaner than many sex clubs I've been in over my life. -
Review from John G.

Owner/management were very responsive to comments on how to improve the place.
Would definitely go back by myself or with friends again. They are trying to make it a clean, safe, fun place for all.
When you go definitely enjoy yourself and let them know if you would like to see different video genres, music, etc.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Jason D.
San Francisco, CA
Though Eros is supposed to be the hotspot for gay men to get together for sexual experiences, the only day it's actually worth while going is on a Sunday afternoon. If you go during the weekday, you'll find older trolls. I've been several times and only 1 time have I had an encounter that was totally mind blowing. Can't reprise it, can't duplicate it. The staff are perfectly helpful.

Review from Gourmet G.
San Francisco, CA
I used to own a business adjacent to Eros, and one afternoon an ambulance pulled up and two EMTs ran in to assist a patron who apparently had suffered an attack of some sort while engaged in an activity that required he wear nothing more than a towel. As they wheeled out the gurney, on which he was sprawled nearly naked for all the passing world to see, I whispered a prayer that I'd never find myself in that embarassing a situation. The only time I was inside, I was bringing them mail that been delivered with mine in error. The lobby appeared to be cleaner and more appealing than the crowd I'd see going in and out on a daily basis. It wins three stars because it provided me with entertainment late in the work day. Those actually participating in it might award it more.

Review from Jason F.
San Francisco, CA
1-star for affordability! If you have membership, you can go spa yourself for $12!
1-star for location. Does not require plotting a course to San Jose's Water Garden or Berkeley's Steamworks
1-star for mostly playful clientele.
-1-star for no privacy. If you find a playmate, you will, undoubtedly, have a swarm of pesky guys move in. Apparently "no" isn't as universal as you'd think!
-1-star for the decor, music, and ambiance. I swear this place is so tragically behind the times. In fact, it is so funky and archaic that it can be totally unsexy!
Final tally = 1-star. -

I usually wind up here each time I'm in town and should review it. first its fairly clean, the rules don't seem overly inforced It seemed half the guys I hooked up with had poppers. But condoms seemed to be used which was nice. Quite a mix of types but few under 30 or over 60 Id say(I haven't been to the thursday under 30 night) hint if you are there before 7 dont buy the 1 time use fee membership is 10 and entry 12 same money and if you like it you may be back....also they do massage(non sexual duh thats accross the hall for free) the one I had was good and prices good for SF. Anyway I always seem to find someone I like.
