The discoveries i find biking!!  I've been dying to eat at Eriks after a glowing review from a co-worker and who knew! it's right around the corner from home!
It was fairly quiet when we entered, i'm assuming because it was a pretty hidden location. We got our sandwhiches and parked our tushes across the way in Central Park to people watch. After getting comfy, I ripped open my sandwhich and devoured it; I  got  turkey walnut pesto and my friend tried Abotts Habbot. We did a trade off, so i had a chance to try both.  I was not dissappointed!!
BOTH were AMAZING!!! I could confirm that this is one of the best deli's i've tried yet.

Just went to this cafe for the first time and my fiancee and I were impressed, very impressed. I had the farmer's market sandwich, and he had the speedwagon. He said it was the best sandwich he had ever had and mine was spectacular. The pasta salad was perfect, with that nice tang of vinegar. We also had a side of chili...not perfect, but better than most places.

As a treat we took home a slice of the carrot cake...divine. Moist, good frosting, and tons of carrot and walnut.

All that, plus two drinks for under 24 dollars for both of us. Not bad at all. We are going back.

Yay Erik's!!

I love the REO speedwagon.  Bread is always fresh and they pack the meat in like no other.  OH, and sprouts are a staple on their wiches!  I think I ate about a hundred REO's when I was pregnant and requested it as my first meal after delivering my baby.  That damn special sauce.

those onions.
go there.

It's tasty indeed.  I love the tomato soup too!  Two problems -- 1.  pretty expensive for a sandwich 2.  it always upsets my stomach no matter what i end up getting.
Not sure why that is.  It could be the soup?  Who knows.  I used to eat here quite a bit ... but now it's few an far between due to the fact of how it makes me feel afterward.
A few other things to mention ...
I am always left wanting more flavor on my sandwich - which leads me to asking for mustard after the first bite.
Some of the employees aren't the friendliest but they are quick.

Andy, how your joy for life filled my soul and my belly.  andy was the guy working behind the register today when my wife and i came into this erik's deli.  he was so happy, energetic, and just darn pleasant.

i ordered a turkey walnut pesto sandwich and kathy got a pilgrim's progress with a cup of soup.  the food came out quickly, brought by mr. happy go lucky himself.

the food was fresh and healthy.  i quickly realized the only difference between my sandwich and kathy's was just some walnut pesto sauce.  next time, i'm going to try the pastrami or roast beef.

as mentioned by amy o., the parking is kinda tight, and i don't mean that in the cool slang way.  all the spots are compact, so if you have a whale of a car, maybe try parking across the street at the wachovia.

eating here brought me back to last year when i was living in santa clara.  it was / is so much nicer than where i live now.  i'm so moving back when i get a chance.

Went here with the kids for lunch, what a great break from high fat fast food.  PB&J sandwiches for the kids and a tuna sandwich and clam chowder for me, all under $18!  Deal!

The service is great, Andy was very nice even with the lady in front of me who got all upset because he didn't give her a receipt when she paid for her food, like 2 hours ago!  He kept his cool and didn't seemed annoyed one bit.  The food came out fast.

Finally a lunch place that satifies the kids and adults alike!

Parking -- Eck. All compact spots, which my car isn't wide, but usually a big ordeal...and there is limited parking here as well.

I love that they always have five soups...and the Tomato Basil Bisque is so good. I usually have to add a little pepper, but that's just because I like it spicey. Sandwiches are yummy as well, and most often, I get confused on what I want. But, I like to that I can do the half sandwich / soup combo and with a drink for $9!

If you like to eat outside, there are two tables.

I love Erik's Deli Cafe.  When I first moved here from Southern California, I thought it was just a mom and pop type of place.  It is next to the hospital I work at, so it's easy and convenient and I loved the different types of sandwiches they offer.  They offer things that are a bit different than the average sub sandwich place.

Which is why I was surprised when I found out it was a chain. I didn't know there were a lot of them all over the place.

The quality of food and ingredients are always very good and I think that's what makes the sandwiches so tasty. The soups are also very good as well.

My favorite sandwich is the Natural High.  I'm not a vegetarian, but this sandwich always makes me super happy.

I love this place.  The REO Speedwagon is my favorite and I like their macaroni salad too.    Andy is the best.  I called in a order today and when I went to pick it up they were so busy that it wasn't done yet, usually its ready by the time I get there, but because I had to wait they gave me a free cookie.  I didn't even wait that long but how you going to say no to a free cookie.  I also like to take my kids because it's right across the street from Central Park. So we get a good lunch and then cross the street to play.

Went here for a bite when awaiting the birth of my cousin at nearby Kaiser...talk about bad timing for hunger pangs!

I've never been one to get excited over sandwiches but the 'Raging Bull' sandwich here was exactly what a sandwich should be. I was too consumed at the time with the impending birth of said cousin and realizations of just how old her birth made me...lol..fickle yes, but who isn't! so the exact ingredients of the sandwich escape me.

It's out of the way & the old Kaiser is being closed so finding an excuse to go to Erik's won't be happening for me. I'd recommend it to the South Bay crowd though.

I'm not sure what Erik's boner for cheese is all about. And it seems like every single sandwich involves cheese, even the tuna fish. I'm not cheese averse, just trying to avoid the unnecessary calories. In addition to the cheese thing, every time I'd look at the menu nothing at all appealed to be. I'm just not a turkey and cheese or ham and cheese kind of girl.

But I finally went and I'm glad I did. The bread is good, the tomatoes and sprouts and onions are good. My grilled pesto chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about (I did have to ask for no cheese though). My vegetarian vegetable soup wasn't groundbreaking, but was about what you'd expect of soup in a sandwich shop. The employees were as nice as can be and said goodbye as I left.

My office always calls in our order and its ready in 5 minutes.
I get the REO Speedwagon and my mom loves their salads. Their food is great and my family and friends who have tried it agree.

Yummy large sanwiches, and salds, love the tomato soup (portions are too small) but prices keep going up. Service is always quick. Staff is cordial but not overtly friendly, normal walk up counter service. And they bring your food to your table.

I am continually impressed with the quality of Erik's food.  The excellence is consistent with every location I've visited.  If you want sandwiches, this is the place to go...  The Square Meal deal will give you a little cup of soup with your sandwich.  The soups are fabulous.  The owner of this particular location is especially nice, offering you a drink while you wait for a take out order.

This used to be my old lunch spot for a while---mmm....tasty R.E.O. Speedwagon!  Parking is really limited at this location and it's, eh, just kinda there.  But if you're needing a sandwich it's probably one of the better places to go in this area!
