"Great sandwich! Had the roast beef and jalapeno jack on crunchy sourdough roll and seriously, I have no complaints. Huge sando, great…" read more »
Thought I'd try something new...so got the all-veggie FARMER'S MARKET sandwich. It comes with avocado, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, carrots, pickles, red bell peppers, red onions, tomatoes, sprouts and lettuce...topped with sweet hot mustard on sweet molasses wheat bread. Yeah, it's a lot of VEGGIES, very fresh and sweet.
BUT the sweet hot mustard is a little too sweet & creamy for me, so next time I'll ask them to go easy on it.
Still, really great service. Fast and friendly.

I told Carol L. that for lunch I had a "turkey sandwich with avocado and sprouts." Amazingly, she… Read more »
After reading reviews, I knew I had to try the infamous Pilgrim's Progress. I was so sure of this that I didn't even look over the entire menu. And I'm a fan.... turkey, avocade, sprouts on 9-grain bread. And when I say sprouts, I mean SPROUTS. It came out perfectly though.
It's kind of dark inside, but tables are available outside as well. Great place for a quality sandwich on a nice day. And the water glasses are mason jars which always adds to the fun factor.
Erik's Delicafe chain is definitely better than Subway, but I still prefer Togos. I like the different choices on Erik's menu and their use of sprouts in their sandwiches. However, I don't like the huge amount of meat they put in their sandwiches. I guess it isn't that big of a deal since you can take some out, but I rather have more of the other veggies on there besides the meat. The potato, pasta, and macaroni salads in the refridgerated section looked a bit old. :(
When I was younger, my dad used to bring home Erik's sandwiches every week and I thought it was delicious. Since then, I've been exposed to places like California Sourdough and other yummy delis...so I wouldn't go out of my way to go here unless it was just for convenience.

Erik's Deli is like one step up from a Togo's. Their sandwiches are very "California" to me, which basically translates to a lot of sprouts and veggies. I guess that's what they're going for since they were started in Santa Cruz. Don't get me wrong, their sandwiches are good, but nothing special. Definitely don't go in expecting a New York style deli where they pack on a lot of delicious meat.

Too expensive for small portions. I've been eating at Erik's for the last 15 years, but it seems like their quality has been dropping. I don't especially enjoy the fact that they use microwaves to heat up their sandwiches. I ordered lasagna the other day and it was soggy and worse than microwavable lasagnas.
I really do like the character of this sandwich chain and of all their sandiwches with funny names and unique combinations. But their sandwiches always seem so dinky and small. Maybe I've gotten used to expecting the big-assed sandwiches from places like Togo's, Little Lucca, Bonne Sante, etc.
Got the Marrakech Express (Pastrami and Monterey Jack Cheese, heated in our White Pocket Bread with Red Onions,Tomatoes and Sprouts). That was just okay, their pastrami is the flat kind that's packed like sandwich meat. Not even close to the ass-kicking pastrami sandwich that Togo's makes.
Bottom line: Lots of interesting sandwich choices, but if size does matter to you, you'll be gravely disappointed and yearning for more. And what's with Erik's calling their sauce Erik's "Secret Goo" - that just sounds wrong and nasty...

Hi Stacie! *waves downward* I was part of that group. The clam chowder I had was okay.. but the sandwich was delicious! Big portions and customer service was excellent. I usually get something with avocado, bacon and something else on sourdough and they've never failed to disappoint with a tasty sandwich. The service is extremely fast between ordering and paying, we weren't done paying when two sandwiches and soups were ready to go!
They're not skimpy, dry sandwiches either. :) Great place for lunch or dinner or soup for days when you're not feeling so well.
It had been such a long time since I had been to Erik's.
I usually go to the one in Milpitas.
Both of which are pretty much exactly the same
Everything was fresh and crisp but I didn't like the bread
It just kinda seemed to fall apart on me when I was eating my turkey sandwich
Overall its not a bad place to eat but I just don't see my self craving this place any time soon

Just went last week with a large group for dinner. The food was great! I had the Pilgrim's Progress and tomato bisque soup. The soup was excellent. The customer service was top notch. They didn't rush us out at closing and allowed us to linger as they cleaned up which prompted me to leave a nice tip at the table. Will definitely go back.
I love me some Erik's when I need a sandwich...I will frequent Panera's or Le Bou when necessary, but Erik's is always my top quick pick. I love that there aren't that many of them in the area...you kind of have to search to find them or even better, know where they are.
My fave sandwiches are the Sweet Liberty and the Pilgrim's Progress. Sure the names are kind of cheesy, but that's part of the fun of Erik's! It has character!! I big puffy heart their breads, especially their nine-grain. Also, this sounds silly but I LOVE their root beer. I think it's just Mug or something but I don't have sodas very often, so I love filling up one of their old fashioned glass jelly mug things with a bunch of ice and some sweet cold root beer...mmmmm. Too bad there's no scoop of ice cream to drop in as well. That would be ideal.
In any case, love this place..the service is SUPER fast...you can be in and out with your sandwich in 5 minutes even if there is a line. The guys there are fast and efficient and decently friendly. I ask for my sandwich minus the 'Goo' because basically it's just some secret mayo sauce which I can leave behind. I do love their sweet mustard which comes on the Sweet Liberty but is not calorie low either, oh well, gotta live sometimes right.

I love, love LOVE Erik's. I love it so much I married it! Well, ok...they just catered the wedding, but still...(BTW, they did a great job)
My usual is the Pot Belly (Turkey, Pastrami, Monterey Jack,Sourdough) and a pickle on the side. Always awesome. It feels like I'm eating healthy when I dine here..maybe it's the sprouts on the sandwich..
They have several locations that are all really great; but I hit this one up the most often since it's on the way to work.

It's so funny how I go here all the time, but have yet to write a review for it. I really like Erik's deli. On a cold day I can go get a bowl of clam chowder here, or if I need a quick lunch before going into work on a Saturday, for some reason my mind gravitates to this place.
I always get the half sandwich half soup combo with the aforementioned clam chowder and the turkey walnut pesto sandwich, mostly because they are generous with the avocado and seriously what is a turkey sandwich without the avocado? It's just two slices of plain bread, that's what it is...
I love love love the lemonade here too. I'm sure it's probably like koolaid or something, but the taste is tangy and delightful, and how I do enjoy my jar glasses. Makes me feel like I'm on the Oregon trail or something.
And on a nice summer's day it's nice to sit outside and chat.
Good customer service and good prices. I've gone to most of the Erik's Delicafe in the San Jose area. I usually order their half sandwich and half salad or half soup and half salad. The other night, I ordered a half salad and half soup (clam chowder). The soup was good and the salad was mediocre. A little bit too much alfalfa for my taste in the salad and the lettuce was going brown. I think I'm just picky when it comes to veggies.

Super-nice customer service! They know me by name there. :)
The sandwiches are my fav, soups are good, not a huge fan of the salads. I usually get the 'Pot Belly' sandwich with avocado added and a cup of tomato basil bisque (combo called a 'Square Meal').
Their assumedly mayo-based 'secret goo' is good and they use sprouts instead of lettuce, which I love. If you want pickles or mustard, remember to ask because they don't come standard.

I really like this place and come here a lot. The atmosphere is casual, it's great for a quick but tasty lunch. The bread is always fresh, and they offer a large selection of meats and poultry to choose from. The service is very fast - great if you are on the go. Sandwiches come with a pickle and chips. The interior reminds of a log cabin in the wild West. Really, really cool lunch place!
This was a very pleasant surprise! For a little deli across the street from my former highschool, I sure took a long time to sample the wares.
I had the sandwich and salad combo- a plentiful portion of each for the price. The veggies were fresh, and the bread was nice and chewy. Fresca likes.
jej: they have lemons for their water!
nej: nothing to nej about
Erik's is a great little sandwich shop. Their sandwiches far surpass Subway and Togo's in terms of freshness and variety. My favorites are the Pilgrims Progress and the Pot Belly. I like that they use sprouts as a topping instead of the usual watery lettuce.
They also get huge kudo's for the Holiday Sandwich they put out this last year: turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing served hot on bread.
It brought me back to being a little kid and grandma fixing me leftovers after Thanksgiving.
I come here for lunch every once in a while. The breads they use for their sandwiches are so soft that it just melts in your mouth. I find that their ingredients are very fresh and it shows every time I take a bite into the sandwiches. My favorites are the Del Monte special and the Pilgrim's Progress.
I've just recently started ordering their soups. So far, I've had the Tomato Bisque and the Chicken Vegetable with wild rice. Both are very tasty and fulfilling, especially on a cold autumn day.
I also I like people here, they are really friendly and helpful.
I used to love their soups. I think Erik's sandwiches are way better than Subway and Togo's, but personally, me likes alfalfa sprouts.
I usually get the tuna sandwich (the sea dog). I just wish they would toast their hot sandwiches instead of microwaving them.

A tasty soup and sandwich shop - perfect for the winter days! They have an excellent gumbo soup and their chicken pesto sandwich is very tasty and not dry.
I was wanting something fresh ie sandwich/salad since I didn't want anything heavy or greasy. So we went here. I ordered the Merrakesh (however you spell it) since it was the only non-meat item here and it was so not good! The side pasta salad was dry and just plain bad. After two bites, I covered it with a napkin and threw it away. I just couldn't eat it and nothing else in this place looked satisfying either...

It's a deli, so there isn't much to say about the place. In case you've never been to an Erik's Deli, they are all done up in an old mining theme. Don't get why they do the Old Mining Theme (especially since the original Erik's came out of Santa Cruz) but none the less it is something different than your traditional Delis.
Most of their sandwiches here are reasonable priced around the $6. They have a full compliment of both hot and cold sandwiches which is always nice. Looking at the menu the best deal is the half sandwich and soup/salad for about $6.50. I got the Pot Belly Sandwich and it went well with the Clam Chowder. I like sprouts on my sandwich so the amount I got was fine and the Clam Chowder didn't taste like it came from a can, so that was a bonus. The vegetarian GF got the vegetable soup in the sourdough bowl. The vegetable soup taste good though it was a bit too tomatoie for my taste.
Overall for a chain deli store, not too bad and they offer vegitarian choices so I will come back if I'm in the area and looking for something simple and reasonably priced.
Erik's is absolutely great. The sandwiches are way better than other competitors, including Quizno's or Togo's (both of which are also good). I like the Secret Goo, I like the sandwich names with personality.
The price is not super, but reasonable. My favorite is probably the Raging Bull which is a Roast Beef with Chili Peppers. Add Sun Chips and a Coke, and I'm good...
I do recommend the hot sandwiches over cold, but I've liked them both.
Their soups are also solid, if you want to add that in the mix.
This place feels a bit weird. I go in only on weekends and it's deserted, but apparently it's pretty busy during the week. The sandwiches are ordinary, but apparently they think that alfafa sprouts liven up anything. To be quite honest, I've never seen a pastrami reuben with alfafa sprouts. And now I know why. The sandwiches themselves are a decent deal, as well as the combos, but the salads are ridiculously expensive. Am I really going to pay $2.25 for a half cup of day-old potato salad? Blecch.
For $6, you get an ordinary sandwich. Just fine for most days, but you'll be wanting more if you're famished. I guess to try to be unique, they serve their drinks in mason jars. Personally I don't like that, because the unsmooth rim of it can lend to dribbling, and I ain't talking basketball.
Passable food, decent price, but stick to the sandwiches.
Soup, salad and sandwiches is basically what Erik's Delicafe offers. I haven't tired their soups, but their salad and sanwiches are pretty good. They tend to use sprouts in almost all their sandwiches, which some people may not like, but it kinda enhances the texture and taste.
Prices are comparable with other local sandwiches places in the area.
Erik's Deli Cafe is a bustling lunch spot located in Cupertino California. Their soups are perfect on a cold rainy day. I like the chili and the clam chowder, my coworkers prefer the vegetable soup. Their salads are fresh, the chinese chicken with mandarin oranges is delicious and almonds is delicious. Their sandwiches are nothing special, I try to stick to the turkey and avocado with no sprouts. Erik's offers soda and ice tea served out of mason jars. I would suggest getting their early during the lunch crowd and wear a jacket. This Erik's is kept at an unusual cold temperature.
