So pleasantly surprised by this little place!! Today was the first time going in there despite the fact that I have been a student at Chabot for a few years now ;)

I only wanted a coffee, but the menu looked great! The sandwiches, smoothies, and health-nut choices seem so tasty.  I ordered a Creme de Caramel espresso and it was delish!! I ENJOYED IT BETTER THAN THE SAME KIND OF DRINKS I ORDER AT STARBUCKS AND CAFFINO!  Price wise, though, it's about a dollar more.  But to me, that extra dollar is worth it because Eon is a small business and it feels great to be in a little place that is homey and satisfying, without it being a big corporation.

Yummy coffee + well run small business = 5 stars for Eon!!!

Cute, not-too-hipster college student hangout with lots of snug little corners in which to do your work. The cafe overlooks the main street but is located just far enough so you're not disturbed by the sound of traffic. I had driven up to Hayward for jury duty (and wasn't selected, huzzah!) and wanted to check out the local cafe scene while I was there. It was a cold day, nice for sitting at the window seat with my latte and watching the world go by, even as I was procrastinating on my to-dos. The interior was warmly lit and decorated with artwork, the staff super friendly and laidback; it's the kind of place that feels comfortable even when it's practically empty (I was there in the late morning on a weekday), though I suspect it does get crowded, being located across from a college campus.

My one complaint is that my green tea latte tasted oddly soapy; I don't know whether that's because I've lost my taste for green tea, but upon closer examination the bubbles did appear disturbingly colorful. Wish I'd taken a picture! Overall though, this place has good atmosphere and plenty of character; just stay away from the green tea lattes.

Staff is very nice, great spot for studying.  I haven't tried any of their smoothies yet, but I had a chai latte which was really good, and a couple of different teas which were good too.  I wish the teas came in a small and large size, because I usually can't drink that much tea and I get this HUGE cup for $2.25.  Wish I could get a small cup for like $1.50, but whatever.  It's worth it to sit here and use their wifi and study.  I also had their everything bagel once and it was good, but I was starving so maybe anything would have tasted good at that point. ;)

Anyway, I'll definitely be coming here to study and I'll have to try some of their sandwiches that other yelpers keep raving about!

When I was a student at Chabot, I spent most of my days here with my partner in crime "studying". When I moved away to SoCal, I didn't realize how much I would miss it. Upon my return, I had a Green Energy smoothie.  I didn't see Yoshi behind the counter and began to panic a bit.  My smoothie took longer than usual, but I was content just being there.  I would have grabbed a bite to eat, but my favorite Omega-3 Tuna Greenoodle Salad was nowhere to be seen.  I guess I could have had a Turkey Pesto on foccacia, which is also very tasty.  Mulberry tea is the bomb dizzle. Maybe I  need to make one more trip out here before I scat.

When you're only competition is a shoddy Starbucks and whatever the hell is in Southland Mall (I'd rather not check), Eon Coffee seems pretty damn appealing. I mean, they even have palm trees, a parking lot, and their own logo!

But riddle me this: How can you fuck up drip coffee? These guys end up making big batches and leave it sitting around for a while. Made exclusively for the starving college student who craves a cuppa (burnt) joe or a dry pastry! Mmmm-mmmm good!

Sandwich anyone? Paired with a vanilla latte? Don't mind if I do!
Before the cafe that was next to my house was opened, this was def. my fav. spot to go to! Especially because it was across the street from Chabot. After class, I would swing by and grab a nice vanilla latte and a nice turkey avocado sandwich!

Food: I recently (meaning today) drove over just to grab their yummy sandwich! I don't know what it is....if it's their bread (which I ADORE! cause it's a sesame bread and I'm def. a sucker for anything that has sesame on it!) or their yummy ripe avocado. It's def. my fav. sandwich.  I think it's one of their most popular items because every time I go there, they're almost all gone (they're pre-made sandwiches so if you want to try it, go early!) it' also a rather hard sandwich to eat because when you take a bite, all the yummy goodness of the contents inside the sandwich will slip out from the bottom.  My friend tried this sandwich once and everything spilled out from the bottom...causing a fatty mess along with the killing of a bunch of napkins.

Also, if you do eat this sandwich, make sure you check your teeth before smiling at people....the sandwich has poppy seed and sesame.  So, if you want to smile at people with black dots in your teeth..go for it =]. But, I've def had my fair shares of embarrassing "poppy seeds in between my teeth" moments. x_x

As for their hot sandwiches, I've only had (being as I always get the turkey avocado) the Turkey pesto. Nummy! I love paninis let alone one with pesto and turkey!

The coffee? Super good! Before the cafe next to my house changed owners, I would talk to her often.  I ran into her at the cafe and she told me that the owner of Eon would roast their coffee beans and she gets her supply of coffee beans from them. So delicious! I got a vanilla latte and of course, it's my fave! So good! Although, I always get one shot of espresso cause two shots was too strong for me. One is just right for me.  My other drink that i regularly get is the Mango, mango. It's a yummy smoothie. A mango smoothie is a mango smoothie, I don't think you can really mess it up....so the taste is average but still good. So on a hot day, be sure to try one of their yummy smoothies.

Everything there is very health related.  They even have "omega-3 tuna" sandwiches which had krill in it. How interesting....Lotsa wraps too...be sure to check out Eon cafe. =]

P.s: I love what they wrote on their site in the "about us" area....

"Our name means everlasting. Welcome to Eon Coffee, where everlasting relationships, health and happiness begins!"

As a Chabot student, I hold Eon close to my heart. I have yet to order a drink that I dislike, and I love the atmosphere in there. Great place to study or catch up with an old friend. You do need to hunt a little bit, if you need an outlet to power your laptop, but in most cases, I've been able to find an empty spot with a power source close enough. The service is friendly and helpful, and their sandwiches are SO GOOD. And when I say SO GOOD, I mean SOOOOO GOOODDD. My favorite place to go and study, have a great cup of coffee, and lunch while I'm there.

I was watching my sister play tennis and I decided to go get some mocha. You know I have to have my mocha almost every morning or else my day wont be as productive haha. Anyway, I've passed this cafe many many times but I've never been inside actually. So I did. The place looked really comfortable and cozy and the staff were really nice people. The mocha was not all that, but I did enjoy it. Overall, it was a good experience. This is probably one of those places you could study at.

Definitely a local haunt (for students and locals alike) and most definitely a step up from any Starbucks or Peets... and they don't over-froth your milk or have mountains of dry foam on your latte. In fact, their lattes are top notch! With a strong coffee flavor and even a hint of the espresso's crema on top. Not to mention how pretty they are! Oh, and the drips and smoothies are pretty good too.

Prices are 'ok' for coffee but a little pricey for the food especially. Definitely worth a latte or two if you're in the area. Open mic nights/music on certian occasions. If you're lucky to get Yoshi (co-owner) as your barista, ask him all about the coffee and have him learn you all about coffee.

I came here for the first time when I first moved here and we didn't have internet yet.  I haven't got to try the coffee yet but I have had their smoothies which were pretty damn good.  Their pastries are amazing too.  The cheesecake was really good.  They have a lot of seating and free wifi which is always a plus.  The only drawback would be that there are not enough outlets.

So, let me tell you a background story. I first saw this place on Bay Area TV in 2008, it won the best Coffee shop in the bay area. After that, I told my boy GH and he's been coming ever since. Thanks to CL, I have finally stepped foot into this haven. This nice server, Youngsoon, introduced me to the menu. Great customer service, but 5 stars, is for the product, like I always do. I was tempted to be frugal and go for the double expresso shot, but I decided to risk it and try what YS had to offer.

In the midst, I was distracted by a sales call, and that morning rift too. However after a sip of this creme de caramel; my short memories have dissipated.  Another sip, and I walked back and told them, this is really really good.

The coffee, let me explain, the best since Paris I must say. Perfect blend of caramel, coffee, and creme. The texture is smooth enough but not too whippy. The caramel is strong, and yet you ask, well does it over power the coffee? No, I can still taste the coffee. Amazing. 5 stars for sure. I'd drive here again.

YS , make me another one! : )

The Product: Mulberry Tea using their special "Pi Water," which is used in all of their drinks and is supposed to be healthier than regular ol' tap water (the science behind this is on their website under the "Health" tab). I come here just for the Mulberry Tea - I don't know where else you can get this. They serve it both hot and cold. I'm not sure how to describe the taste. I guess it's like an earthy/fruity green tea? Describing it may be futile - definitely go try it out if you're big on trying different teas.

The Venue: For a study cafe there isn't a whole lot of seating here, though I have not had a problem finding a space for myself. Indoors, there is enough room to comfortably sit maybe 14-18 people, though there is plenty of outdoor patio seating available. For the space they do have, they certainly do make the most of it, but a cafe situated across the street from the community college across the street should definitely try to accomodate for more.

Overall: Friendly service, great Mulberry Tea, and an obvious effort to do the best they can with what they have makes for a good cafe.

I like coming here when I'm meeting up with friends that live in Hayward or attend Chabot College or CSUEB. It's a cool little spot, but its changed a lot since I use to go there. I stopped by awhile back and the original owners don't run the coffee shop anymore. Also the food selection seemed a bit pricey to me yet the price a drink was good for me. I also found out that they haven't done any open mics or had live performers come by in awhile now. It's still a good place to go and even though it may get crowded, you'll see a familiar face and stay to talk.

Oh, Eon...  How I've spent many a day here when I stupidly gave myself breaks that were too long in-between classes. The reason I started going here was not just because it was right across the street from Chabot, but I decided to give a new place a chance (yes, about five years ago). I didn't drink coffee back then, so I tried a hot chocolate. It tasted much better than the chocolate flavored water I was getting at Starbucks, so Eon became an almost daily thing.

Fast-forward about five years and not much has changed. I'm back at Chabot and back spending my free time at Eon enjoying their still-delicious beverages and food. I'm assuming the older fella that works there owns the place, and, while not mean per se, he always seems impatient and I've yet to see him smile. The other people that work there are always friendly and chatty, though.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to get away from businesses that have locations nearly every two blocks. The Black Forest Mocha will leave you foaming at the crotch.

Stumbled upon this place while visiting the Chabot College campus area. The coffee shop was spacious upon entrance and wasn't packed with people at 5 in the afternoon on a Sunday night, which is how a coffee shop should be in the bay area. There is a nice calm vibe to the place. Definitely a place to chill, study or have a chat. The service was very friendly. I noticed an interesting apparatus after placing a few orders of cappuccino and mocha. This apparatus appears to be a dutch style cold drip coffee. Perhaps, I'll try the cold drip coffee next time. This place is a must try for all coffee enthusiasts!

So I'm giving it three stars...  Why?  Well, when it opened about ~5 years ago, it certainly *was* the best place to study, have coffee, and grab a bite to eat.  However, sad to say, I have witnessed the declivity of the quality in the overall decorum of this place.

Example:  five years ago, they used to offer smoked salmon (lox) with a lemon cream cheese but then about two years ago, they downgraded to only offering lox and cream cheese spread, and now they only offer lox-flavored cream cheese.  They used to offer real crab sandwiches on rosemary ciabatta and a dill aioli, but I have yet to understand why they took that off the menu.  Whatever they do still serve is just a tad over-priced. *shrugs*

Their coffee is still pretty bomb and off course the free wifi is a sheer necessity but since college is over, I no longer have a real compelling reason to go there;  a Peet's, or Tully's will do just as well.

Nice local coffee shop outside of your normal franchises!  Hard to find these now unless you go to a major metropolitan area (ie: Sf, SJ, OAK).  Wonderful location!! Walking distance from the community college across the street and has enough parking to accommodate an entire lecture class.  Though, good luck with seating.  Place has an array of seats and tables available, but not nearly enough to fit a study group comfortably.  Outdoor seating is available for the nice sunny days.

I never really tried their food selection here, so I can't really comment on it just yet.  Not much of a coffee drinker now, but instead turn to different blends of iced tea's available.  Staff is always nice and friendly.  It's like they get paid extra to always have a smile on their face! Can't really help but be in a good mood after studying a few hours in here.

Wifi is available here, so get your study on.  Not a lot of loiterers here as found at your nearest starbucks, which is also a plus!  Who can study when people are playing chess and playing WOW at the table near you?!

Stopped by for a post lunch caffeine kick with a girlfriend. Ordered a single mocha to go and it was really yummy. It had the right amount of cocoa and espresso for that perfect blend. I liked it. It was my first time there today and I glanced over to my right and saw the wall of "Customers of the Month" -- I wonder how they nominate their favorite and beloved patrons.

Heard they were on TV and decided to stop by. Glad I did, now I know where to go for those yummy mochas!

This is a nice alternative to the big coffee chains.  It's small and quiet when not busy: a bit sparse with not a whole lot of character.  It can get noisy really easily.

The easy parking is great, as well as the wi-fi.  I've tried several of their seasonal drinks and all were wonderful.  I'll surely go back and try it out more than the few times I've been.

Yes, I came back again... with my uncle.

We were both running low on fuel... and since I've been avoiding this place like a plague, I figured now or never.

I came in after 1ish and Yoshi, the owner... saw me and gave out a big smile. In my head... awww...

He asked me how I was... I told him life was good. He smiled. I saw Martin... he asked how I was... I said the same thing.

Onto the coffee: I ordered the usual... medium iced soy mocha. Uncle ordered a regular coffee.

My uncle asked me if this was the spot where ... I said yes.

Before leaving... Yoshi told me he appreciated me coming back and he hopes to see me again. I said definitely... and I will... this place is too good to not come back despite the past.

When the "Coming Soon" signs were up before this place opened a few years back, I remember thinking to myself, "Yeah, good luck with all the Starbucks around."  It wasn't until Eon opened that I realized just how much different -- and better -- it was.

I attribute the demise of the independent coffee shop largely to a lack of offerings and the commercial hype and ubiquity of Starbucks and Peets.  But with Eon, you can still get almost any drink that you can get from one of those chains -- for about the same price, and in REAL sizes, like MEDIUM -- but with much higher quality.  In fact, everyone I've brought here has generally been amazed at how much better their drinks taste than what they're used to from the chain coffee shops.

What you also get is an attention to detail -- like a pine tree design in your latte foam, or a cookie with your cappucino -- that you won't get elsewhere.  You can also get your drink in a real mug if you want, which is much more environmentally friendly.

The atmosphere is good, too.  While it can sometimes be packed with college students from Chabot, the seating is pretty ample, and the wifi is free.  Occasionally they have open mics here, too, and -- though it's hit or miss -- I've largely enjoyed being here for those.

Overall, then, this is a welcome alternative to the big chains, while not sacrificing the items that big chains offer.  They even have some unique items on their food and drinks menu, like mulberry and krill.  Try finding those at Starbucks.

If you're in the Hayward area, they're definitely worth a stop.

Walking distance from Chabot college soccer fields
    Clean facility, actually very inviting
friendly service I mean its pretty hard not to smile back when the guy taking your order is so darn sweet and friendly!
tasty latte which helps gets me back to something resembling a human

Walking into Eon is more like walking into a little cafe. It felt far more intimate than the crowded chain stores.  You could actually have a coffee date there comfortably.

I would certainly go back - only hopefully when I do not have to get my butt out of bed so darn early!

They have well trained baristas.  Always love their regular latte or soy latte.  They make good sandwiches too.  I like the roast beef panini.  Not  bad environment if you want to be there to study (also offers free wifi) or just want to sit outside to chat with a friend.  I always leave and come back there.  )

This place is perfect for me to study or get some homework done. I have been here many times and always manage to snag a seat regardless of their minimal seating. This is a great spot for a quick early morning meal and coffee/tea run. I have had their bagels with homemade cream cheese (salmon and dried tomato) and they were both flavorful and tasty. Since I recently quit drinking coffee, I always grab a Blueberry Red hot tea. Very strong fruity flavor and hits the spot. The service is excellent. The staff is always very welcoming and happy. Great way to start my morning. My only wish for this place is: more seating and plugs!

A cafe strangely named after Germany's national electric utility. It has the standard modern coffee house ambiance though furniture is a bit frayed. Where they shine though is their coffee beans which make for a highly aromatic coffee. Although pricier than Peets, the flavor seems worth the money even considering generally poor foam work by the baristas.

Mysteriously, there is a lot of propaganda throughout the cafe shilling the benefits of mulberry. Yes, the stuff silkworms chew to make silk! I find this detracts from the credibility of a serious coffee place.

Unfortunately, I didn't try the coffee this time, but I will next time.  I am anti-Starbucks, not for any reason other than I drink regular coffee and find theirs to be bitter.

I came here with my daughter for lunch after our field trip.  We sat outside and ate our lunches.  I had the turkey pesto, and my little hapa picked the sushi and a fruit salad.

When I asked for the sandwich with cheddar rather than swiss, the server looked at me apologetically and said, "They're pre-made."  Disappointed, I started to review the menu again.  "We can make it", she added, "but it will take 5-10 minutes."  She said this sadly as though it would be a terrible inconvenience for me to have to wait.  "Great, no problem!", I said.  She was really a sweetie.

My sandwich was very nice.  The fruit salad was really good, with both green and red apples, melon, strawberries, grapes and kiwi.  And a little container of a sweet lemon sauce we used for dipping.  The rugrat liked her sushi.

We dined outside, which was lovely (Hesperian view notwithstanding).  The inside was clean and comfortable as well, including the restroom.  If I were a college student, I would certainly frequent this place.  Heck, if it were closer to my home you would probably find me here often doing my work using their wi-fi.

When I needed a place to work on a Sunday afternoon I turned to yelp to help me out (hard to find a non-chain coffee shop sometimes). Eon Coffee was close so I packed my laptop and headed out. I had passed this coffee shop a few times but did not have a reason to stop.

The store was inviting with lots of windows and umbrellaed tables in the front. Upon entering I was asked what I would like and if it was for here to to go. Believe it or not, I was actually given a real, cup and saucer for my cappuccino and not some cup with a plastic top. Oh, there was even a cute design on the top and a cookie with my drink, nice touch.

To the right of the counter is a lounge area with a couple of tables, a fireplace and a couch. It's a bit dark and very comfy and cozy.  To the left of the counter is a bright and airy "work" area. There are many tables from small two seater to larger four seater and a booth covers the back wall.

I sat with my drink at one of the tables, took out my laptop (just to fit in with the other 4 people there) and set to  work. I drank my coffee, worked  and sat in the wonderful sunshine while the sounds of the coffee shop rustled around me. Ahhh....reminded me of .... well ... that is a story for another day.

After about an hour I had finished up what I needed to do. Yes, that doesn't seem long but it would have taken me 3x as long at home with the cats on the lap and the dogs begging for attention. I packed up and went about my day.

The coffee shop was clean and the service was professional and efficient and my capp was really good. Thanks yelp for directing me to Eon Coffee. I'll be back!

I won't lie; I have had a hard time adjusting to Hayward.

The variety of trash in Hayward, although extensive, make me weep a little inside and I feel my soul asphyxiating.

    Am I snob?  Ok.

I've found a place where a cup of coffee is just that, and not a front seat at the dregs exhibit.

The Eon coffee house is right across the street from Chabot College and since this is where I go to school I have had a few chances to stop by. Not to mention that I have had a 7:45AM math class this semester and an occasional need for caffeine. With that being said, there is no reason for anyone from the school or nearbye would need  to go to the Eon cafe. None. The coffee at the school taco truck is way better and costs 50 cents! There is an entire cafeteria full of smoothies and froo froo fake coffee as well. We have lots of wifi, t1 connections in the science halls.

However, if you like their overpriced bad coffee, then that's your bag. It's just a pet peeve of mine. The atmosphere is awful as well, since this place seems to host socially awkward people who compensate for this fact by hoarding themselves inside the cafe. This place is like a halfway house for those too intimidated or unwilling to mix with others from the school, (I hope you're reading between the lines here). The bottom line is, the coffee is bad, the people are not social with all people and I don't think there is any reason to go here.
