this place is the shizzle.

you can't beat the ambiance here.  it's super chill, the folks are nice (even the ghetto ones), and the staff is very personable.

it's like 'cheers'... except they serve ya coffee.  i think, it's owned by some asian dudes, who might i add are very, very, very nice!  the 'non chase-you-down with a broom' type variety.  ya know what i mean. . . .

it's always a pleasure coming here after work to unwind to a cup of their cafe mocha, which by the way is BOMB!

like BOOM BOOM POW!  cause seriously, their coffee is POTENT!  like, it'll keep you awake during the whole entire day/night. . .maybe, for 48 hrs....hell even for the whole entire week!  that's why i like to order the small.  because LORD knows i don't need all that caffeine in my life.

oh and they play awesome music too!  nothing like 'The Space Between' by DMB playing in the background, while i stare outside the window watching the trees blow in the wind. . .

now, that's my personal coffee shop heaven.

Coffee shops. In the Bay Area, they come a dime a dozen. Some are good and some are *meh. So looking for a good cafe anywhere is kind of a hit-or-miss. Fortunately, on a quick stop in Hayward, a gem was found.  Nestled along Hesperian Blvd. next to Chabot College, lies a coffee shoppe. Adorned w/ compliated (looking) coffee making contraptions, delish looking pastries, photography, and laptop-toting patrons - Eon Coffee provides the type of atmosphere different  from what you'd expect in a cafe.  Your ol' cup o' joe may never taste the same again.

Bonus(!):

- Free Wi-Fi
- Great Atmosphere
- Super-friendly staff
- Clean Facility!

Tips:

- sit outside during Sunny Days. Its bee-yoot. Trust
- Need to study? This is a great place PLUS they've got Wi-fi!
- the Homemade pastries are good for you and are OHSOGOOD!

My only gripe? Would LOVE it More if:

- There were one near me!

All in all, this place has that local cafe feel with an atmosphere that will keep you coming back. Cups up for Eon Coffee and Yay for Yoshi!

I havent been in a couple years but only because I forgot how good this place is (and the last time I went I was broke).

A little expensive but a delicious treat when you are looking for that extra delicious mocha, their coffee is the bomb here.

Oh yea thats why I havent gone in a while, I started drinking straight espresso a year and a half ago (bought a machine!) so I guess Im a dufuss.

Dufuss aside: their coffee is the bomb!

I would say four stars out of five because I support local business growth. Their coffee is not for me, but perhaps their food is... I will be heading back for the food items mentioned in other people's ratings because I would rather support their business than the jack in the box three buildings away. Perhaps the cafe latte i had ordered was made incorrectly, or I am too used to Peets coffee being so strong. Eon coffee is an amazing area to relax and socialize, I totally recommend it for others. I will be returning in the future to try other stuff. :)

Support local businesses!!!

This place is great.  Love their food and drinks.  The staff is friendly. My favorite is their green noodle salad.  Taste great and is healthy for you.  Their smoothies are usually pretty good. I only had 1 bad experience with their smoothie. It was one Saturday when a older fellow there made the smoothie. It tasted too watery.   But usually their smoothie is the best!  Yoshii is also great.  He's very helpful in helping to make a selection.  I love their krill wraps too.  Their prices are better than Starbucks.

A cafe strangely named after Germany's national electric utility. It has the standard modern coffee house ambiance though furniture is a bit frayed. Where they shine though is their coffee beans which make for a highly aromatic coffee. Although pricier than Peets, the flavor seems worth the money even considering generally poor foam work by the baristas.

Mysteriously, there is a lot of propaganda throughout the cafe shilling the benefits of mulberry. Yes, the stuff silkworms chew to make silk! I find this detracts from the credibility of a serious coffee place.

Went here for lunch with a co-worker. They have an outside patio to sit and the inside had a very chill atmosphere. It was a slow day since I only saw no more than 10 customers.  I tried the chicken chipotle panini with a strawberry smoothie. The total price was $12.00, pretty much average price for a lunch. The panini was good but the cheese didn't melt all the way. The smoothie was good but a little bit watery. I'll come back and try their salads next time and try their different types of tea.

I'm really between 3 and 4 stars and I'd love to give them 3.5 stars but Yelp does allow that (yet).  I've been there twice and the first time to get that krill/tuna sandwich but unfortunately I went there later in the evening (about 8PM) and they were out of it. Booo!

So I went back another time to try it (I hear about it on a local bay area news show) and even though I have never tasted krill before, I was expecting more and the krill really didn't taste like much.  I tasted more of the tuna and it was a nice novelty panini nevertheless.  What was really to die for is their mango/raspberry cheesecakes for $3.50.  Very tasty and you can tell they make it homemade.

Eon seems like a great place for Chabot college kids to study and hang out at since it's right across from the campus and it has that nice coffee shop ambiance.  You can even come here on certain evenings (Friday I think) and they have live music going on.  Plenty of cafe style food to go around and you should find something you like here.

The first time I went there was during the summer. I ordered the famous "MULBERRY ICE TEA" and it was great and very refreshing drink!! The staff are friendly. It's a great spot for the students to hang out or study. I love it because their product is HEALTHY and one-of-a-kind!! It's a little pricey for me to go there like everyday. Thanks to "THE BEST OF THE BAY" show, If it wasn't for them, then I wouldn't have gone to this place. After hearing all the GREAT RAVES about this place, I decided to go check it out for myself.

Came here to study with my good friend yesterday. Really really cute place! I love how they don't over charge you on food, very reasonably priced I must say. Plugs line the wall. However it is dimly lit, leading to drowsy studying.

They have all these new top secret ingredients that have endured lots of research from Japan that is supposed to help you lose weight, fix all your ailments and is the ultimate miracle cure. Ummm...very funny. As a biology major I can say that the digestive tract does NOT look like that nor is that how sugar is really digested or blocked. My friend and I had a good nerdy chuckle at the pamphlet.

Warning also...my friend got hit on with a very cheesy line...so beware of creepy chabot doodes that lurk about the coffee shop to holler at girls.  What was it... "may you read my essay and tell me what you think"...then followed by "wow i'm so happy a pretty girl offered her help, may I take you to lunch"...very very very werid...

Def a much appreciated area to go and do homework.  It's a great escape from over hyped and crowded Starbucks.  The staff has always been nice and I usually get hot tea and carrot cake.  It offers free wifi and is a hot spot for college students to come and study.  Also has a TV which can distract you when you are writing a paper on a Sunday afternoon with the playoff game on right in front of you.
Only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because it can get packed early on and sometimes it sucks to find a seat.

This cafe is super awesome. Small, but definitely cozy. It makes you feel like this is your home away from home. How much like home? Enough to the point where if you order your coffee for there, they give you a mug for your drink. I think this cafe is eons ahead of most other cafes and coffee houses in terms of being enviro-friendly.

I like coming here for a coffee and using their free WiFi to do my work and browse the internet. Sometimes I'll even catch some live bands playing music, which is always a plus.

One of my favorite things about life and going to school at UC Davis was being able to stroll to a non chain coffee shop with super nice people, sit around and study with free Wi-Fi and run into people I know.

While I didn't run into anyone I know at Eon, it definitely passes the test in my book as a great coffee shop and place to study, people watch, or listen to LIVE BANDS (another one of my favorite things about small mom and pop establishments in Davis!)

+ The staff here is super friendly.
+ If you say your drink is for "here," they give it to you in a MUG instead of a paper cup... Hurrah for being cute/cozy AND environmentally friendly.
+ One side: tables w/ more lighting and lots of plugs for laptops.
+ Loungeish area on the other side to read or meet with friends
+ Cutest outdoor area EVER! Why am I so obsessed with coffeeshops?
+ LIVE BANDS? Hell yesssss! It was good music to study to too.

Side note: I usually get soya lattes, and my friend warned me that the ones here are not as sweet as those at Starbies, so I decided to get a VANILLA soya latte. O.M.G.... ask for them to go LIGHT on the syrup!!!

This place definitely gives off the small town feel - love it!!

Free wi-fi is good...

But you know what was NOT good?
- Absence of outlets for laptops (what good is the free wi-fi if customers' computers are dead?)
- The red blueberry lemonade... it tasted like medicine

The first time I went into the coffee house was in 2007. I was turned off by this place because it was so darn small and crowded. It was a nice summer-like day in May. But the air conditioner was barely on. I was going to write a review back then, but I just forgot.

I didn't go back until the second week of school this semester, (Spring 2009).
I usually go to Starbucks or the new Peet's on Ast. But I was running late and needed coffee. Eon Cafe came to mind. So I stopped there. I ordered a cafe bianco, extra hot nonfat no whip. it was great! tasted like real coffee.
There chai tea is great too. They sell these green cookies they call mulberry cookies. I am addicted! The staff is really friendly. When I come in, it's usually in and out. I would come here to study, it's just I think it's a hit and miss to find a place to sit.

I would of gave this place 5 stars if... the cafe had more seats and tables and if they were open late night at least till 11pm or 12.

Over the holiday season, why did I discover so many good wi-fi shops (outside of the area that I was staying in the Bay Area), in addition to the multitude of them (with the exception of People's Cafe in Berkeley, Ca.) To be open barely late night, to cater to wi-fi moochers, grad students, and cafe goers such as myself.

Well this place would have been a better experience, but due to the holiday season and lack of customers (locals and Chabot College students) there was no need for them. It would have been a nice place to play cards, catch up with friends, and maybe spend more than the Cafe Latte, and White Chocolate Macademia Latte' (which was pretty delicious), costing me about $8.00 with tax to really take in the atmosphere.

But we were booted out immediately, since it was closing time. Hence the three star rating, making me only moan and groan because, one I wish you were closer and two that you would have been more accommodating to stay open later since you had myself and my friends as last call customers. Oh well better luck next time, I suppose.

When I had empty blocks between classes, I would come here to study.  Although, its noisy, I found the place to be ideal for studying.  I enjoy the fact that the food they have to offer is fresh and good for you. Filled with omega vitamins, and offering different alternatives like their Pi water, or their Mulberry tea (that seems popular) and Mulberry cookies, and sandwiches with Krill in them.  They have booklets that inform you about these new items, and the benefits you reap from ingesting said items.

The place is cosy, and very comfortable.  The fact that they remember recurring customers is a plus, and I also like that they use real coffee mugs when they know that you're going to be hanging around--makes you feel at home.

They have these special holiday flavors.  My all-time favorite is the "White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Latte".  Its a mouthful to say, but anything with White Chocolate in it I'm there to try it. LOL.

Oh and their "strawberries and cream" smoothie thing is really damn good.  I prefer theirs over Starbucks, only because its a lot sweeter :)  And their Turkey Avocado sandwiches are my absolute fave, very fresh ingredients.

i LOVE this place!!!

Never been here before, but always wanted to try.  I walked in, asked for a medium cup of coffee, and they made me a freshly ground, freshly brewed cup straight from the espresso machine.  I didn't have to drink some swill that's supposed to be thrown out after an hour.

It was freaking delicious.

There wasn't a whole lot of room to sit and enjoy a late, late lunch with my sister and her boyfriend, but we were able to complete a few rounds of AdventureQuest before we decided it was too warm to be sitting there while I drank hot, tasty coffee.  Maybe it won't be as crowded next time.

But yeah, that cuppa joe was just what I needed.

I love this place! A perfect cozy spot to study in between classes =)
The mulberry cookies and mulberry tea (nonsweetened) is my favorite thing ever. I never get sick of it.
Eons also makes a great soy Chai. It's not pale or watery like the ones at Peets or Starbucks!
Plus, Yoshi always has a smile on his face. Everyone is so friendly, you just feel good being in the little oasis in an otherwise dud area.

Finally decided to come to this place after passing it NUMEROUS times. I was in need of a new study spot... and this ALMOST fit the bill.

Cons:
1. Coffee was okay... and overpriced for being just okay - but b/c it's an independent spot I'm willing to pay and keep trying different things til I find one that fits.
2. The food selection was NOT to my liking. I'll bring my own snacks next time.
3. There was loud banging in the back room for most of the time I was there... not very pleasant.

Pros:
1. Plenty of seats.... I did see it start to get busy in the later evening time. So I'm glad I was there relatively early (3pm) to score a prime spot.
2. PLENTY of electrical outlets... yes, that is a MUST for students with laptops and will probably be a deciding factor in study locations.
3. Free Wi-fi.. hey. we're in a recession, right?!
4. Friendly staff... I was a newbie and the Batista was VERY patient with me while I was making my order.

Long story short, I'll be back... but I'm not running around telling everyone it's THE place to be... but it works. =)

I've worked at three coffee shops throughout college, (not this one ever) and I know the inner workings of your basic coffee shop. I'm passionate about coffee and I must say this coffee house is absolutely exceptional. Everyone should experience Eon! The quality product, the hardworking friendly staff, and the overall relaxing, cozy ambience amidst busy, industrial downtown hayward.

This is an exceptional place. I've been to the uk, japan, canada, and several other states besides california, and I'll go to a cafe each place I visit if one is available; and I've never been to a coffee house as good as Eon. I would apply for a job but I wouldn't want working there to interfere with the pleasure of spending time there as a customer. I enjoy too much the privilege of having Eon as purely a retreat when I have some down time.

Try a latte (with perfect foam) or for something non-caffeinated the honey plum  lemonade might sound strange but it's my favorite. Another thing I appreciate is all the information about health benefits of their products. For example mulberry tea can aid people who are trying to control diabetes.
Give it a try, you'll be impressed.

When I needed a place to work on a Sunday afternoon I turned to yelp to help me out (hard to find a non-chain coffee shop sometimes). Eon Coffee was close so I packed my laptop and headed out. I had passed this coffee shop a few times but did not have a reason to stop.

The store was inviting with lots of windows and umbrellaed tables in the front. Upon entering I was asked what I would like and if it was for here to to go. Believe it or not, I was actually given a real, cup and saucer for my cappuccino and not some cup with a plastic top. Oh, there was even a cute design on the top and a cookie with my drink, nice touch.

To the right of the counter is a lounge area with a couple of tables, a fireplace and a couch. It's a bit dark and very comfy and cozy.  To the left of the counter is a bright and airy "work" area. There are many tables from small two seater to larger four seater and a booth covers the back wall.

I sat with my drink at one of the tables, took out my laptop (just to fit in with the other 4 people there) and set to  work. I drank my coffee, worked  and sat in the wonderful sunshine while the sounds of the coffee shop rustled around me. Ahhh....reminded me of .... well ... that is a story for another day.

After about an hour I had finished up what I needed to do. Yes, that doesn't seem long but it would have taken me 3x as long at home with the cats on the lap and the dogs begging for attention. I packed up and went about my day.

The coffee shop was clean and the service was professional and efficient and my capp was really good. Thanks yelp for directing me to Eon Coffee. I'll be back!

Not too big on cafes, but this one stands out. It has a nice atmosphere where you can just go get a drink and chill. No matter if your studying or just passing by or even just need a java fix.
I ordered the Honey Plum Lemonade and that was real good. Tasted very refreshing. I didnt want to get on a caffine high so i ordered that instead. Sat outside under the big umbrellas and watched the cars go by, on a saturday afternoon with some friends. The place felt very relaxing.
Service was good, took our order and made our drinks with no delay.

With my luck on cappuccinos and lattes lately, I was afraid that the English Toffe Latte Love would be too short, too sweet, and un-inspiringly bland.  To my pleasant surprise, the medium latte I got was just perfect:  the cup was properly full and the latte was lightly sweetened.  As for the cafe, the place wasn't distractingly busy and the tables were comfortably large enough for three friends to relax and chit-chat.

The Eon coffee house is right across the street from Chabot College and since this is where I go to school I have had a few chances to stop by. Not to mention that I have had a 7:45AM math class this semester and an occasional need for caffeine. With that being said, there is no reason for anyone from the school or nearbye would need  to go to the Eon cafe. None. The coffee at the school taco truck is way better and costs 50 cents! There is an entire cafeteria full of smoothies and froo froo fake coffee as well. We have lots of wifi, t1 connections in the science halls.

However, if you like their overpriced bad coffee, then that's your bag. It's just a pet peeve of mine. The atmosphere is awful as well, since this place seems to host socially awkward people who compensate for this fact by hoarding themselves inside the cafe. This place is like a halfway house for those too intimidated or unwilling to mix with others from the school, (I hope you're reading between the lines here). The bottom line is, the coffee is bad, the people are not social with all people and I don't think there is any reason to go here.

This is one of my favorite places to have a mocha. They even have a Mexican mocha which I would give five stars to, except that I have to request to have only half of the syrup that they add. It's just waaay too sweet. So as long as I remember to ask for half of the sweet, it's perfect. They also have a lot of health foods and the Mulberry Cookies melt in your mouth. Quadruple YUMS! I always stop here on my way to work after my orthodontist appointments.

I used to go here all the time with my friend. We go to "study" but in reality we just go to catch up and talk about our problems. This was when Eon first opened...now that time has changed and people has moved on I don't go here as much. I'd stop by with other friends to "study" every now and then but I'm not a usual anymore. Since I haven't been here for a while it's always nice to go back and visit.

Now every time I go to Eon to "study" it's always so packed! There aren't enough seats to sit or there's only the little round tables which doesn't fit nothing! I can't put my laptop + textbooks + drink...so everything ends up being on a chair or on the floor. Kinda sucks...it's mostly crowded by the students from Chabot because the school is right across the street.

They're really big on their mulberry stuff...a little too much, but I like their mulberry tea, unsweetened. Drinks and pastries here are pretty good and the prices are reasonable.

They have open mic and I've only been to one...well technically i was there not knowing that it was open night. Truthfully I didn't really like it. I wanted to enjoy my drink while I converse with my friend but it was way too loud and I did not like what I was hearing. Maybe it was just me. I'm sorry if I'm hurting anyone's feelings...

Unfortunately, I didn't try the coffee this time, but I will next time.  I am anti-Starbucks, not for any reason other than I drink regular coffee and find theirs to be bitter.

I came here with my daughter for lunch after our field trip.  We sat outside and ate our lunches.  I had the turkey pesto, and my little hapa picked the sushi and a fruit salad.

When I asked for the sandwich with cheddar rather than swiss, the server looked at me apologetically and said, "They're pre-made."  Disappointed, I started to review the menu again.  "We can make it", she added, "but it will take 5-10 minutes."  She said this sadly as though it would be a terrible inconvenience for me to have to wait.  "Great, no problem!", I said.  She was really a sweetie.

My sandwich was very nice.  The fruit salad was really good, with both green and red apples, melon, strawberries, grapes and kiwi.  And a little container of a sweet lemon sauce we used for dipping.  The rugrat liked her sushi.

We dined outside, which was lovely (Hesperian view notwithstanding).  The inside was clean and comfortable as well, including the restroom.  If I were a college student, I would certainly frequent this place.  Heck, if it were closer to my home you would probably find me here often doing my work using their wi-fi.

A wonderful, friendly place.

Coffee - Flavorful and refreshing.  I had the coffee, latte, mocha, mulberry. Just about every drink I get, it is tasty.  When you watch the baristas, you can tell they take pride in their work (not like starbucks button monkeys).  The price is just right.

Food - Good but not on the same level as their drinks.  Bit pricey for the portion size.

Atmosphere - Clean, relaxing, comfortable.  I sit here for hours with the free internet.  It's nice to get out of the office and have meetings here, too.

Finally a place in Hayward where you can get "non-corporate" coffee and some pastries.  They have a pretty cool atmosphere inside, very modern and artistic.

The prices for the drinks were a little on the steep side and when I went, the pastries inside seemed to be first come, first serve stock.  I'm happy that a place like this finally opened up across Chabot and suprised no other had been around before.

This place is one of the best cafe in the Bay Area. There is free Wi-Fi, good coffee, decent food and a friendly / warm environment. The last time I went there was a live band outside. Definitely coming back here again.

Yoshi is always smiling...I don't know how he does it working those long hours.  Very friendly staff, too.  What a cool place.  Can get packed with Chabot students during exam time but otherwise very comfortable.  I've gotten consistently very good mochas here.

They used to use beans from Barefoot roasters but now roast their own and quality seems to be just as good.  Decent selection of lunch items (including sushi) as well as bagels and pastries.  Nice to see an emphasis on healthy eating.  I like their organic mulberry iced tea, which is supposed to help prevent sugars from entering the blood stream to a certain extent.

They had problems with their wi-fi before but Yoshi was very serious to get them resolved.  Seems to be really consistent these days.  Many tables with plugs; there are outlets on the ceiling that would make more tables laptop-friendly if they were accessible.  Saw one guy plugged into one of those today...how the heck he get up there?!?

They play satellite radio (it seems like) here through decent speakers and switch it up every now and then.  It was kinda ironic though b/c on a couple occasions, they'd be playing "the Starbucks Radio Network".

I like grabbing a nonfat mocha and sitting outside on a Sunday morning with the paper or a good book.  With the palm trees and comfortable surroundings, it's kinda like an oasis in the middle of effectively nowhere.

I bet you right now, Yoshi is still smiling...

Cute place across the street from Chabot College. I ran across it while running some errands near there. Good spot to get your study on or to grab a bite to eat on your way to work, or at lunchtime. Very clean, friendly service, comfy chairs, and pretty darn good coffee. Free wifi is always a plus. It was pretty spacious, with both indoor/outdoor seating.

I'm a mocha connoisseur, so I love to try out the mocha's at each new spot i go to. I had their nonfat mocha, and i must say, it was one of the best mocha's i've ever had. Very smooth and silky, not at all burnt, and just the right temperature. Although I wish they served the coffee in a mug instead of the paper cup, as i seem to find it taste better in the mugs. Would definitely go back if i was in the area.
