Five minutes before closing time and they still let us shop for breads. Thank you so much Mrs. Worker Lady, whoever you are! $1.99 for a loaf of bread, and if you spend $7.00 or more you get anything free off the rack they have! This place is similar to the Hostess Thrift shop near the San Jose Airport, minus all the sweets and cakes, and it's ALOT smaller. I'm guessing the factory is in the back area with the door that says "EMPLOYEES ONLY".

I heart this bread outlet!  I always come here with the intent of just buying a loaf of bread and maybe some english muffins, but I always end up with 2-3 bags filled with other goodies, like boboli pizza crusts (for half off of what it costs in the supermarket, and just as fresh), entenmann's mini muffins, steel cut oatmeal, and if I'm feeling really naughty, then some chocolate cake :)

Most of the time I spend around $10 for a load of goodies that I either freeze to make last longer, or give some to my in-laws since I realize that there is no way I can eat everything I just bought before it goes bad.

They have a mixture of freshly baked goods, and other goods that are closer to their sell buy/expiration dates, but all of them are cheaper than the supermarket.

I recently spent the weekend with a gentleman more than TWICE my age.

Now, don't get all out of sorts - it was Mr. Fabulous' dad and I was keeping him company on his birthday weekend while his son was in Japan eating his way from one end of the country and back again.  TOTALLY innocuous!

So, what does one do with a 70-something year old man who doesn't drink, or eat sweets, or enjoy going out to eat??  APPARENTLY, you go to the bread outlet for some serious DEALS on sliced bread AND English muffins AND mini doughnuts!

To be honest, I'm not a huge Entenmann's/Oroweat fan.  Too many chemicals make their appearance on the ingredients lists of many of the breads & pastries.  Some of them even have high fructose corn syrup, which gives me the willies just thinking about it.

HOWEVER, I do indulge in some Thomas' English muffins (which DO have HFCS) on occasion and you can't beat the price.  Most items' prices are MORE THAN HALF OFF of Safeway's prices.  They also throw in a FREE Entenmann's pastry box (I got the Cinnamon Popettes, which are kind of cake-textured mini doughnuts, and they're ALL for me b/c as I said, my date doesn't eat sweets) if you spend over $7.00, which sounds easy, but with everything priced around $1.50, it can take an armload of bread and/or pastries to accomplish.

Also, if you're lucky like me, and go with a distinguished gentleman of a certain age, you'll get an ADDITIONAL 10% (20% on Fridays!).  Kind of makes you want to hang out with your SO's dad too, doesn't it?
