Yesterday I went for the first time to Enrique V for Hair, inside the Frange Blue salon. Enrique did a great job with my hair cut and highlights. He knew exactly what would look good on me and my hair turned out really nice!

He was on time and very professional, and had comparable prices to other salons, as far as I can tell.

The salon was convenient, clean and was stocked with lots of good mags, coffee/wine/water and had good music.

I had a great experience and would highly recommend Enrique!

I need a shoulder to cry on!  Cause yesterday I wanted to cry and today after the first wash I am crying!

It started with a deal I found on Bloomspot last week and decided what the heck, I only need a trim to even out my A-line Bob that is growing out  (I have straight, typical Asian hair).  So yesterday I arrived shortly before the appointment but waited around while Enrique was chitchatting with another coworker.  We started with a consult and then a wash.  The wash in itself should have been a warning sign.  It was literally a wash; no scalp or neck massage where you normally expect from a salon with these listed prices.  But not a big deal cause I'm really here for a cut right?

Second warning sign, before he starts with my hair cut he tells me that I'm his last appointment and he can't wait to go home to sleep.  Good god it isn't even 6pm yet.

Enrique spends about 5 minutes (seriously) cutting my wet hair and another 5-10 minutes blow drying my hair after the initial cut.  And then guess what, he was done!  He styled my hair or attempted to fix it and then took the scissors and just took a chunk of the back left part and called it a day.  My appointment was for 5:30pm and we didn't start a minute before then but when I looked at my phone when he was done it was 6:05pm.  Yes, it is not a typo, he spent a full 35 minutes for consulting, wash, cut, and style!

After the first wash this morning, my hair length is uneven and the hair cut is choppy.  The left side poufs up because it is shorter than the right side.  I had to flat iron the left side so it would look slightly more even.  I'm weeping as I'm writing this review......

I'm not sure if this is a case of you pay for what you get since I did tell him of the Bloomspot purchase when I booked my appointment.  But this hair cut is going to cost me so much more; another hair cut, time, and that is not including the emotion damage.

I am one of the many that bought a coupon, however, I am not a fan. He showed up about fifteen minutes late. During the consultation I explained I wanted at the most 2 inches off my long hair, just to clean it up. I showed him a few spots that needed help. He kept trying to convince me to get really short layers and cut off four inches. I really hate when hair dressers do this. Unless I ask for your opinion, I know what I want. And I do not want four inches off. Well that is what I got. He cut my hair wet (including my bangs, big NO NO!) which I am not used to & proceeded to take what seemed like an hour to dry my hair. My hair is really thick but it has never taken that long to dry. The cut was fast, I didn't feel the "10 pounds off" relief I usually do after a haircut. After it was dry I could see the damage. Totally cut my bangs uneven to the point that one of my eyebrows was showing. The part of my hair that I mentioned needed fixing he totally screwed up. He said he was done and I was shocked. My bangs were flopping around and uneven; I felt embarrassed to be seen. I asked him to curl my bangs under with a flat iron and he brushed them with a circle brush. I sort of laughed and explained again to take a flat iron and curl them under. He took a blow dryer to my already dry bangs and brushed them with a circle brush. It was a lost cause. He apparently does not own a hair straightener. I left literally embarrassed. At the end there seemed to be a mutual look at my hair with a mutual unsaid "Wow that was not a good cut." I went home and had to try to fix my bangs. Went today, a few months later to a new stylist who agreed that this was terribly screwed up hair, especially for something so simple. I will say, however, that my sister went to him and loved him. Also, he was a really nice guy. But man my hair was effed up.

Enrique was great! He gave me a great layered cut. I have long, black hair, and he spent a lot of time washing, cutting, and styling my hair. I had the Trubates deal, and it was totally worth it.

I really loved our conversation, and he's a really respectful, talented stylist.

    **** UPDATE ****
Enrique has replied to me and says his prices were updated in "early January." His validation is that the date on the Google cache was December 23rd, 2010. Thankfully, Google isn't the only search engine that caches. See this cache from Bing (dated 2-18). Does this prove that Enrique changed his prices the day before/of/after the Homerun? No. But it does prove that he changed them very near the Homerun (I maintain the day of or the day after, considering my experiences outlined below) and that he is either a liar or very misinformed about the management of his web properties.

    Bing cache:
    http://cc.bingj.com/ca...

I understand that "prices for everything have gone up." That isn't the issue. The issue is that I determined a coupon was a good value based on the prices I saw on Enrique's site the morning I bought a coupon. Raising them immediately afterward is unethical - and maybe illegal.

But I do appreciate the offer of a "shampoo, conditioning and blow dry - - an additional value of $85" at no extra charge, Enrique, particularly because your website's new prices lists those services at $60. Another price hike on the horizon?

    ****************

I bought a "homerun" (similar to a groupon for those of you not familiar with the plethora of coupon-websites available in the world) for Enrique V. yesterday, and I am already not a fan.

The deal advertised was $35 for $80 worth of hair services. I went to their website to review the cost of the services I wanted to get - a haircut ($75) and a one-color partial highlight ($95). Minus the savings from the coupon, I would have been paying $125 plus tax, tip and whatever else for these services. Not a bad price - and I'd rather save a little money when going to a stylist I don't really know anything about. I went to this yelp site and read the reviews (including the "filtered" one-star reviews), but decided that I would give Enrique a shot. I bought the deal.

HOWEVER, the day after this homerun, Enrique broke every law in the retailer Bible and JACKED HIS PRICES the day after he posted his services on a major coupon website. See his old prices here (may need to copy/paste): http://webcache.google...

If you visit his new site you'll see that in one day he jacked his cuts by $10 and his partial highlights by.... $55?!? What the heck???

In short... not cool. In fact, downright shady, man. Come on!

I met Enrique just last week after purchasing a deal from Bloomspot. It was $35 (plus tip on original price of $80 or so) for a full wash, style, and blow-out, and it was definitely worth it.

First, he's a very nice guy, and the conversation made the hour I sat in his chair fly by. I didn't give him a lot of direction with what I wanted, but I do think he chose a haircut based on my own style and personaltiy, rather than giving a cookie-cutter solution.

I'm pretty conservative and he gave me a nice, professional but stylish layered look--like a modern version of the Rachel. It's only slightly edgier than I was expecting, but it's a welcome push as I wanted to makeover my boring hair. In addition, I know he cut it, but he honestly did it in such a way that it doesn't seem any shorter, which is perfect since I'm growing it out. When he was done, he showed me how he had cut it so that I could part it down the right, left, or middle--a nice touch. I haven't been able to blowdry it exactly how he did, but it falls back into place pretty naturally, curving the way I expect it to. That is always a good sign!

I normally don't get $80 haircuts which is why I sprung for the deal, but if I want a reliable cut and all-around nice experience that I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for I will definitely treat myself to a full-price cut with Enrique.

I went in today for a haircut & style, and walked out knowing I'd return very soon. Enrique managed to give my long hair the body & bounce I've been looking for! He was super easy going and such a sweetheart.
I came across a Trubates deal, $38 for a $85 value, haircut & style. Although his regular prices are expensive for me as a student, the experience and results make it well worth it!

    Thanks Enrique!

A good haircut is at the top of my priority list. A good haircut can make you go from looking average to looking great. I have long hair and get a haircut every 6-7 weeks. After a few bad experiences, I am now one of those people that is very careful about who they let around their hair.
That being said, I am so glad that I found Enrique.

Conveniently located near major Muni and Bart stops, Enrique's hair salon is easy to get to. After explaining to him what I wanted he went on to work his magic. He cut my hair with precision, did not hurry and gave me quite a few hair tips (+ natural remedy hair tips!). I left the place feeling like a a diva! BTW, did I mention he used to cut hair for the Versace shows and was an instructor for Bumble & Bumble? This man knows hair!

I rate my haircuts by how good they look and by how easy they are to style a couple of days after I get them. While some stylists leave you looking great when you leave the hair salon, that is no use if I can't get the same style on my own the next morning. Days and weeks after getting a haircut with Enrique, I still have that same hair that I did when I first get the haircut. I still get compliments too!

This man will listen to you and give you a great haircut that fits YOUR needs!

Enrique is wonderful. I got a Homerun deal and came in last Saturday after work to get my hair cut. Although I just wanted the ends cut and some layers around my face (relatively basic) he did a great job. I could tell by watching him he was deeply invested in giving me a great cut and style. He eyed my hair like he was mesmerized by it!

Enrique also gave me some GREAT tips about hair care and told me some new products to use for coloring my hair. Although we did chit-chat it wasn't forced in any way and it wasn't too much...salon time is for relaxing and I hate when stylists try to fill every minute with talking.

I was there for about an hour and 15 mins and it was great. My hair looked perfect afterwards and even though he took off 3 inches of hair, it was still long, as I requested.

I would definitely come back to Enrique again and am grateful for his wonderful services!!

Enrique is everything I want in a stylist:  he gave me a great haircut, he listened to what I wanted,  and he paid a fantastic amount of detail to making sure the cut was just right.  This guy really knows what he's doing.

My hair looks fantastic.  I feel really awesome about how I look, and its a really great feeling.  I went in with scraggly, unkempt hair that hadn't seen a stylist in years.  I walked out with a cut that looks great on me  - I mean, it isn't just a cute haircut, its a cute haircut that makes me look good.  I've got super, super fine hair and its rare to find a stylist that can really rock it - I was hella pleased to see the results.

I was also really pleased with his color skills.  He was quick, neat, careful, and painless with the foils and the overall result turned out great.  The red he picked looks perfect on me.  Enrique was clearly interested in making me look good, rather than just doing a standard haircut/color.  He listened to what I wanted and the cut/color fits my personality perfectly.  I'm always worried a stylist is going to try to make me look like a soccer mom, but Enrique paid attention to what I wanted and totally delivered.

On top of that, Enrique is fun.  (Really, I just want a stylist for their skill, but when you are trapped in their chair for a few hours, it's nice to not be bored out of your mind.)  He's got a fun latin flare, knows the city well, and is just generally pleasant to talk to.  He also didn't make any form of negative comment about the state of my hair when I arrived.

In short, I left Enrique feeling like a goddess.  Woo hoo!

Okay, I admit I had my doubts initially, but I walked out of the salon yesterday totally pleased with the magic that Enrique worked on my hair.  This man is a genius when it comes to color.  I haven't had color in my hair for over 10 years and my last haircut was almost a year ago.

After our initial consultation, we agreed that I'd get my black hair lightened and have some highlights added.  Enrique was very eager to get started and worked with confidence.  Turns out this man used to be an educator for Bumble and Bumble and has styled hair for Versace and Macy's fashion shows.  He knows what he is doing technically, but beyond that, he's an artist with a good eye for color.

Halfway through my coloring session, Enrique suggested a bright violet shade for my bangs.  I was hesitant, worried it would be too much to pull off for work at an office environment.  He reassured me it would be awesome and would wash out after a few shampoos.  I sat back, fingers crossed.  The initial bleaching was a little too strong for the highlights, so he was quick to tone it down.  And the violet streak - I love it!  Coworkers at my office have been giving me compliments.  Even the CEO I support approves!

Enrique is meticulous when it comes to details.  He's patient and easy to work with.  I highly recommend him!

WOW!  I am so happy with my hair, the style, the color.  I found Enrique right here on YELP - thank you.  My first visit I sat with Enrique and explained what I wanted, he offered some suggestions, took my ideas into consideration and then went to work.  It is always difficult changing to a new hair stylist, but Enrique made the transition so smooth I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

What a wonderful stylist - Enrique thank you.  :)

I'm brand new to San Francisco (only been here 2 weeks!) and I found Enrique through Yelp.  Thanks, Yelpers!

I visited him for the first time yesterday to take advantage of his Yelp special ($75 for cut and highlights or color) and I can safely say it won't be my last time seeing him.  Awesome deal, great stylist.  The highlights he put in were natural looking and exactly what I was hoping for.  The cut was perfect, bringing a ton of much-needed style and body to my hair.  Basically, I LOVE my new style.

He's great!  Do yourself a favor and go to Enrique!

My hair was becoming unruly and annoying, so I thought it was time for a hair cut. Since my office moved, it's too far for me to walk to my old stylist, so I looked around and found Enrique located just a block away. I was nervous when I went to see him, even though he had good reviews on yelp. Everything about Enrique is cute and welcoming. I felt at ease right away. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, and he gave me a fantastic hair cut. I love it. He is so fun to chat with and very down to earth. I will come back and see him again for my next hair cut.

I found Enrique through a HomeRun deal for $35.  I am very happy with my haircut!  I have thick, somewhat wavy, asian hair that can be hard to manage.  He gave me a sleek, precision-cut bob.  Enrique was very meticulous, but not too slow (he spent 1 hour and 15 minutes on my hair).  I think he did a great job.  Even after washing, it falls well and is easy to take care of.  I would like to keep seeing Enrique, but his regular price is $85, so maybe just a couple times per year.
