I've walked by this place a dozen or so times but haven't ever actually eaten or drank here...

Tonight as Erica P and I walked by for 13th or so time, one of the the chefs was standing out front talking loudly on his cellphone in his left hand, while his right hand held a spatula which he used to scratch his butt cheek.

Yeah, I don't think we'll be having a panini here anytime soon...but if anyone wants to share a $12 happy hour bottle of wine with me, message me.  ;-)

*****UPDATE 2-8-12: The owner just messaged me...this spatula is just a fob for the garage keys so that they don't get lost...its not actually used for cooking.  The Paninis are Butt-Free :) *****

I liked the look of this place, which I had full, uniterrupted views of...given that I was the ONLY person there while waiting for friends for happy hour. Suuuuper quiet the whole time we were there.

The happy hour deals were good, the paninis were tasty, but the service was inexplicably slow given we were the only customers. At one point it seemed like they were hiding out, watching the clock waiting for happy hour to end before helping us, which was really frustrating. We're your only customers...treat us right.

Can't say we've been clamoring to go back, but it wasn't all bad. Maybe just an off day with the service.

Loved this place! Had a big group birthday party on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate all of us. The food was good and the wine was great! The atmosphere was perfect for me and my friends... And I would highly recommend this place to chill and enjoy small bites and good wine!

Stormy and I fell in love with Enotecas (basically wine merchants that serve complimenting food to go with the beverage) when we visited Italy and Spain. It was great to find a nice little place in San Diego that lived up to the style.
We had an amazing bottle of wine along with some killer dishes.

Fresh tasting food, chill atmosphere, and a huge wine and beer list. Enoteca Style has Jazz music from the legendary Joe Marillo on Thursday night too. Definitely check this place out if you are in Little Italy and looking for a unique vibe.

The paninis are great.  Elm is a good bet for lunch -Turkey with Brie.  If you are looking for something a little different for dinner (and a little heavier), try the Cedar.  Its a roast beef panini with some unique flavoring that I haven't tried anywhere else.  I had to take a few bites before I knew if I liked it or not.  Then a couple more bites and I LOVED it.  Part of what I love about this place is the work that they put into creating unique dishes with fresh ingredients.

Also, don't forget 1/2 off wine night on Wednesdays.   For you social media people, if you Check-In on Yelp or Foursquare they have 15%/20% off for your first time.

Loved this place! It's quaint yet nicely decorated! They have some good deals via yelp or just certain days of the week! We came on a Monday night for some wine and it was wonderful! Our server was very sweet and helpful! I didn't have any food- but the menu looked yummy! I definitely will be back!

Enoteca is my favorite place for casual dining in San Diego.  Love the Paninis; the bread is that italian crusty bread which "makes" the paninis. I've had them all and they are all wonderful.  Although they are a "wine bar", don't expect to get some exotic, high-end wine.  The selection does offer nice wines at a fair price.  Enoteca is simply a nice place to relax, get some good eats, and hang out with some friends.  I've seen some complaints about the service on other reviews, but  I've never had a bad experience.  I know they get very busy on Wed because they have 1/2 off on bottles of wines so maybe thats when things get backed up (I usually don't go on Wed but have seen the crowd).

The huge salads make lunch time sharing easy peasy Japanesy. Despite having a full house our waiter/bartender Kevin managed to give our large group plenty of good customer service. Also, the beer selection rocks! Come thirsty and prepare to be surprised by how cozy this Little Italy jaunt is, day and night.

Came here before a Christmas concert on the Star of India with a friend and her husband--wanted a place that would allow us to walk to the Embarcadero.  We ordered three different paninis, which we shared, and the spinach and pear salad.  The salad was terrific.  Shared with one friend it was a nice starter portion.
Of the paninis, the Kettner was my favorite--didn't get enough of it so if I go back I'll have one to myself!   All were grilled to perfection with really nice bread and sufficient fillings--not so much that things are spilling out as you try to eat, which is a plus.
Quiet, chill atmosphere (we were there around 6:30 or 7) allowed us to chat and each others' company.

Went for the first time last night and the trio of bruschetta and the panini were just wonderful!

Also, we did not have to wait long for anything.

Or server, whose name I have forgotten - but he is a cutie - has been there only a month and directed me to a great wine.

This is one of my favorite places for lunch.  It is a simple menu of mostly salads and paninis, but there is a large and colorful variation of the salads and paninis.  The people are always friendly, and more than once the chef has come out to talk with us.

The salads are always super fresh and cold and the portions are very large.

They have a large wine selection and great happy hours.  Its a nice place to go with a couple of friends or by yourself.

I will definitely be back!  I always like the Moroccan salad and the ahi noodle salad, the paninis are always good!

You know when you see pictures of places on Yelp, and you're like "aw that's cute," and you show up and the place is tiny and the photos were taken from a corner with a fish eye lens, and you're totally disappointed? Not here!! I looked at the pictures and they looked a little too good to be true, but it's perfectly represented.

A friend and I showed up on a Saturday night at 8pm. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't packed. We grabbed a comfy corner seat, and a server popped up instantly with menu's and a wine list.

We both ordered Red Wine, and split the Cous cous Salad. I adore their over sized glasses! The salad was great, really different and flavorful.

We were able to chat and have a nice conversation, no loud music or crowds. Its a great place to go for a lighter meal- they have salads, paninis and cheese boards. Wonderful atmosphere. I'd love to come back here and try their happy hour, or Wednesday for half off bottles.

Enoteca Style is one of the only desirable places in Little Italy to grab a drink - and even a bite!

Their simple avocado, EVOO, citrus & salt bruschetta. I usually do not want to interfere with people's dining choices, however - because it is so amazing AND vegetarian friendly, I immediately order it for the table no matter who I am with. The best discovery after this gem of an app - is that they have HALF off bottle Wednesdays. When I do actually have time for happy hours/drinks with girlfriends, I demand we go here. On a Wednesday. Try the Malbec, despite using the creepy word "jammy" to describe it, it's pretty great.

Also to note - good service and their house salad is robust and super delicious - totally unsuspecting on the menu, but if you are in the mood for a salad, go right ahead!

I love coming here.  The staff is absolutely wonderful - great service, they always remember your name and when it's busy (Wednesday, half price bottle night - woo hoo!) the staff really hustles.  I was in there one night when they got unexpected really busy and the server (Erin?) was like flying around the place, taking care of everyone, like a Super Hero then Regina came in on her night off to help.  And, Todd?  Bartender extraordinaire and all round great guy.  And, last but by no means least, there's Manager Gi aka Mr. Wonderful.  He's put together an excellent team who give excellent service and are truly wonderful people.

The wine selection and food is unbelievable.  The food list is simple and very high quality.  Try the savory cheeseboard will make you want to get up on the table and roll in it!  Mr. Wonderful may have a problem with that, but I kinda doubt it.  The spinach and pear salad is yummy, but I still think my absolute fav is the avocado & lime bruschetta!

Treat yourself to a wonderful experience and go to Enoteca Style in Little Italy.  You'll keep coming back!

My boyfriend and I are talkative types. I'm thrilled by his vast knowledge of internet memes, and he is equally enthralled by my observations on moisturizers. We had to pass by a few of the other wine bars in favor of a quieter spot. These conversations are just too good to pass up.

I don't know how it usually is, but last night at around 8:30-ish to 9:30-ish, there was a small crowd and the saxophone stylings of Joe Marillo at Enoteca Style. It was like stepping in off the street in France into a little unknown oasis. It was a great atmosphere and we didn't have to scream at each other across the table about our respective expertise.

The wine menu had a great variety with a few of the more uncommon wines on the list. I had the Primaterra Primitivo, which was a step below sweet. Very good. They have a lot of other Argentinian and Spanish wines that I can't wait to try. We each had the "Laurel" panini: albacore tuna, tomato, arugula, avocado, pepper jack cheese, garlic aioli. The bread was crispy on the outside, still soft when bitten into. The garlic aioli stood out and was a perfect spread to the tuna and avocado. There were some spinach greens in there too, but I could have done without them. They started to wilt too much and just tasted bit old. I think they were in there while the panini cooked. Might be better if they were placed in there after cooking?

The service was very nice and never intrusive. We got waters immediately, wine and food orders with a quickness and no attitude at all. Our waiter seemed like a warm and friendly guy.

The booths were comfortable, and I loved the decor. The ambiance was very romantic, as I gazed into my sweetheart's eyes as he spoke of photobombs and youtube videos.

I will definitely be coming back here, with friends or even by myself. It's such a place where it wouldn't be awkward to sit alone and just relax after a long day.

I have many more wines to try, and I keep kicking myself for not tasting the cheese plate. Thankfully, this is easily remedied.

Looking forward to another not-too-loud and enchanting evening with jammy and slightly less than jammy wines, great flavors and whispers of lolcats.

The pace of the weekday lunch is probably okay if you have limitless time and want to sit around tasting wine.  I have a job.

Before I start bitching, I do want to compliment this restaurant for it's ambiance and decor.  It's upscale without feeling stuffy.  Nicely done.

We stopped in at around 12:15 pm.  I was disappointed with the selection: choose a bruschetta, panini or a salad, and like it.

OK, I'll try the date panini, which is inaptly named because there are no dates involved.  In looking more closely, I noticed that the paninis were all named after a neighborhood street (which, east-west, share their names with trees).  LK ordered a salad.

The food took forever to come.  Once it landed it was on the high side of average.  I had to rush through it to finish eating before I had to join a 1:00 conference call.  I suggested to LK that she order dessert to go, and left my credit card.

Then we waited, and waited, and waited, while I took my conference call from the sidewalk.  By the time the check was settled and the to-go CAKE was presented it was almost 1:30.

I asked about the cake over Instant Messenger today and got the following response:
    ______________________

    horrible

first the cake was packed ridiculously and it was all over the place

    looked like sh&t

    second it was obviously reheated

and tasted like an easy bake oven cupcake

they did give me two small scoops of gelato

    that was good

    it was vanilla

    cake was tasteless though

    ______________________

    A repeat visit is unlikely.

If it weren't for Todd and the proximity to my house I wouldn't come here nearly as often as I do. I really like the wine selection and Todd is always ah-may-zing at helping me pick something that will fancy my taste buds that day (and without breaking the bank)!

As for meals, I wish they had more than salads and sandwiches on their menu-they are tasty, but I'd like more selection. The cheese plate is really really good (entertaining/hosting tip: order it to go, re-plate at home, serve to your guests, voila! instant tasty appetizer with very little effort!)!

cute place. good wine selection. reasonable prices. friendly staff & fellow patrons. great food!

I started with a glass of the Tempranillo blend and the trio of bruchetta.  outstanding!  the wine paired well with all three of them.  Then I switched to the Pinot Noir...clearly an inferior wine, which he bartender did try to steer me away from, but I already had my mind made up.  I should have taken his advice.
If I lived here, I'd definitely be there often.

Welcome to casual power lunch spot of Little Italy.

This clearly is a spot for meeting someone for a quick, quiet, lunch date. Each table is perfect for a pair of two, and everyone here at the lunch hour was doing some bid-ness.  Because portfolios were out, and there were some seriousness going on.

Luckily for me, I was there just meeting a friend.  The menu was pretty standard lunch spots, nothing super great.  But enough on the menu to appeal to many palates.  The service was good, considering there was only one server and each table was full.  She hustled as best as she could, so bueno to her.

    - Tuna Sandwich Panini:  This was good. No sides.  Just the sandwich.  It was a fancy pants panini with like an aioli of sorts. It was good.  The panini seemed a bit oily.
    - Chicken Salad: Lots of lettuce, little protein.  My luncher friend who ordered seemed to enjoy it.  It was nothing spectacular, and he left a lot of lettuce behind.

This seems like a hip place for vino definitely, but for a lunch spot, it meets the mark.

I live in the neighborhood, and this is my favorite spot to go.  It has a simple menu of paninis and salads. As well as some cheese and meat boards and Bruschetta.  Nothing fancy just tasty food with good ingredients.

My favorite is the Morrocan Couscous Salad, followed closely by the Soba Noodle Sashimi salad.

Nice good value wine list - and even better value on a Wednesday when everything is half price.

They just added outside tables - so I am looking forward to some summer evenings watching the world go by.

Stylish little place with a good vibe.  The centerpiece is the bar/kitchen with tables around the perimeter.  There was a good crowd in there, but not too crowded.

I ordered the chicken Caesar, which was amazing.  Hearts of palm and avocado in the salad are a nice touch.  The paninis are also good.

The service is good, but not very fast.  Perfect place to visit on your lunch break.

Perfect place for drinks and light eats. Stylish atmosphere. Great selection of wines (not overpriced), plus a good selection of beers too. As it's mostly a wine bar, I didn't expect much of the food, but the portobello panini was delicious, as was the generously sized couscous salad. And the staff was charming and helpful. All-around thumbs-up. And much better than most of what's on offer in Little Italy.

Of course, the wines are top notch.  Great selection and not the usually ho-hum stuff.  Wine Wednesdays = 1/2 bottles.

Nice vibe.  Usually friendly staff.  Sometimes they can get a bit busy b/c the place is becoming more and more popular.

Sometimes they have the fireplace going...  well, the fake fire on the flat screen TV.  Very cozy.  haha!

Cool wine bar in Little Italy. I came here for the happy hour which is everyday from 3-6pm, $4 wine glasses on house choice wines, $2 off drafts and $2 off paninis.

They also have a Wednesday learning class special, 1/2 off on wine glasses.

So I tried one of their house choice wines, New Gewurtz, Mendocino County 2008. It's a Gewurztraminer wine. First time having this type of wine. Very good, not to sweet. I also tried the Kasteel Rouge from Belgium made with real cherries. It's kinda like a framboise, but the fruit is added after the brewing process. Also, the Kasteel was much sweeter than the Framboise.

Had a great conversation with the bartender. He knows his stuff on wine. He gave some good recommendations in the area to get some quality wines.

I like the decor here. They have a couple of tv's devoted to just fish. It's like looking at a screen saver. Bathrooms were clean as well.  Small bar area that sit 7 or 8 people at the most. A few tables/lounges on the side, and a few tables towards the window area. Customer service was superb.

Great ambiance, great food, great service, and great wine and beer list!  My two girlfriends and I came here on a Thursday night for some "girl time" while our men where out doing their man-thing.

Even though we came here for a girls night, don't get me wrong...this place is definitely for any crowd....couples' date night, adult gathering, business dinner, and even guys' night.  I told my husband all about it, and we already have planned to go back this week!  I'm very excited!

I was under the impression I would order some interesting vino, given it is a wine library.  However, I was completely lured in by their fantastic beer selection!  Our server, I think his name was John (I am really bad with names), recommended a Belgium...Tripel Karmaliet, which I had never tried before....and, oh was it delicious!  Just beware, after 3, you'll be feeling pretty good:-)

To accompany this lovely well-balanced, bubbly beer, we ordered the avocado & lime bruschetta and the Fruity Artisan Cheese plate.  Wow!  The avocado & lime is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, like butter with tremendous flavor and character.  I want some now just thinking about it....The cheese plate did not disappoint, and for a single, it was very plentiful and such a wonderful assortment.  I've had many cheese plates and most are similar, and this one did not stray too far away from your common cheese plate, but it definitely was heartier (plenty on the plate for three hungry, talkative, & tipsy gals).

I give it 4 stars because I ordered the peppered steak salad, and I was a bit disappointed.  I had this grand image of a beautifully prepared steak salad...but, it was just kinda "eh".  I am a steak and potato type of gal, so it just didn't hit my meat-eater taste buds like I had hoped.  But, I guess that's why you don't order a salad excepting a big juicy steak on top :-)...it was a bit boring in appearance and the flavor just wasn't there like I had envisioned.  Sorry.  Just being honest.

My friends LOVED their food...one ordered the CEDAR panini, and my bite was delicious!  The other ordered the Moroccan Couscous, which was light and savory, but a bit underwhelming.   But, with all this said, it's definitely all very well prepared with great ingredients...all comes down to if you order the right thing on the menu....just go and I promise you'll love this place and the food, and of course, the wine and beer list!

Overall, it was a wonderful experience at this quaint, splendid, & stylist enoteca!  Like I said, I'll be coming back....more than once!

    Cheers.

    What a great find!

We found this place by accident. Let me tell you, what a pleasant accident it was!

Love the decor, and the mood lighting. Also, they had a good choice of wines and beer.

We did not try their food but we saw some yummy plates being served for other people. We most likely will be back soon. Atleast, I hope we do even though we are too far.

Recommend it for large groups and small groups.

We have been going to Alchemy for over a year and are never disappointed by the experience. Not only does this place feel like a comfortable, neighborhood bar, their food, wine and beer selections can't be topped. Their avocado bruschetta, paninis, and salad are all some of the best I have had in San Diego.

It is always wonderful to see Todd behind the bar because he knows more about wines and beers than any other bartender I have come across in San Diego. He always knows exactly what to suggest and takes the time to make sure his suggestion is going to be a good fit. I could not be happier to live a few blocks from this great bar. It is a keeper.

This was one of our favorite places to eat in Little Italy. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are good. The atmosphere is great as well. Not too quiet, not too loud.

They have panini's and salads mostly, as well as a good cheese/fruit plate. I personally love the Kettner Panini, and my fiance loves the Peppered Steak Salad.

They also have a nice wine selection, with many unique wines from various regions around the world.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice light meal at a great price. Oh, during happy hour, all panini's are $2 off, and they have wine specials for $4 a glass! Hard to beat that.

This was definitely a popular first date spot as well.

I don't sniff & swirl my wine. I drink it. And when I'm drinkin' it, you can find me here. Especially on them golden Wednesdays. Yeah, I'm so sophisticated. Not.

    Do try:
    Gruner
    The Laurel
    Ahi Tartare

The staff couldn't be any better. They are welcoming, sincere, and incredibly knowledgeable. Sometimes I go here on a womp, womp day and leave smiling. And no, bitches, it's not just the alcohol; I blame the all around awesome Enoteca Style experience.

Enoteca Style is just what the doctor ordered... if you need a relaxing night out, sipping some great wine and eating some great food, that won't leave you feeling greasy and overly full afterwards.  Bring someone with good conversation, an open mind for trying different types of wine, and you will definitely have a good time.

The atmosphere is so laid-back.  The lights, dim.  The music, quiet.  There's TVs that show any sports games playing at the moment.  It's classy without being overly pretentious.  You can walk right in wearing your street clothes and not feel out of place, but the decor is really elegant.  The waitstaff are friendly, patient, and knowledgeable.

I love love love their avocado and lime bruschetta, crunchy warm bread under a cool layer of avocado and a squirt of lime.  I'm a sucker for avocado, and so obviously, I'd be a sucker for this appetizer.  I could eat mouthfuls of this for weeks without getting sick of it.  Yum.

They have a GREAT tuna panini, called the Laurel.  Tuna, avocado (of course), pepperjack cheese, and this great garlic aioli mayo-type sauce.  It makes me melt.  It's warm and creamy, savory and delicious.  I love their paninis, but this is one of my favorites.  I have also tried the Kettner and the India, which are also delicious, but the Laurel is by far the best.

They have daily specials posted on their website, and each day is a great deal.  I always ask the server to recommend a wine, but I like the white wine and they have a great selection to choose from.  I look forward to my next visit here! Yay!

Went to this fabulous little place for girl's night on a Wednesday.  We were immediately drawn in by the half off bottles of wine wednesday but quickly realized we'd found a new little jem! We were immeditately greeted by the owner/manager who was extremely nice and helped us pick out glasses of white wine at the bar while we waited for a table.  The place is extremely small so the wait could potentially be really long.

Once we got a table we ordered the Savory Cheeseboard and a bottle of red wine.  Both were phenomenal! We got the smaller cheesboard and it was more than enough for 3 of us to start off with as an appetizer.  We ordered a panini and two salads.  The portions are a decent size and everything goes well together so its easy to share.  The desserts were so delicious we ended up ordering a second tiramisu (after ordering a tiramisu and a flourless chocolate cake).

The place is small and cozy and perfect for catching up with girlfriends or an intimate date night.  The seating is sooo comfortable, we ended up staying for hours.  From the food and wine to the service and ambiance I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a small intimate environment.

Lunch special: check.  Great food: check.  Service: not so great.  The food is seriously delicious here, and for $10 during lunch you can get a panini, salad or soup, and a drink.  However, if you're hoping or expecting to get outta Enoteca in one hour, think again.  The gals that work here are in no rush.  Definitely keep that in mind!
