An ego booster for sure!

If you're golf game is in the toilet, go play Encinitas Ranch. I've played some of my best rounds here and it's not because i'm good, it's because the fairways are wide and has very few hazards which makes it nearly impossible to lose a ball. Don't get me wrong, I've lost plenty -- but you'll also find that you'll make up your extra strokes with a birdie here, a birdie there..you get the hint.

Most of the holes are straight up and down - greens are boring on the front nine but FUN on the back with the elevation changes. I've played here countless times and I've have recently written off playing on the weekends. The pace of play is super slow so if you're able to get in a round during the week, do it! Otherwise, prepared to be held up a bit.

A few years back, we had a family golf tournament here with 8 foursomes and the tournament director was very helpful the entire process. It was painless to organize but if I'm ever crazy enough to organize another family golf tournament, i'll be sure to book at Encinitas Ranch.

Oh! If you plan to frequent this course or any other of the JC Players Clubs (Arrowood, Rancho Bernardo Inn, Reidy Creek, Temecula Creek Inn, Twin Oaks or Oaks North) regularly, you should look into purchasing this. The URL is http://www.jcgolf.com/

Hope to see you on the course.....FOOOORRRRRRRRRREEEEEEE!!!

I have lived in Encinitas for 10 years so I have been playing this course over 100 times since it opened.  I have heard every reason under the sun why this track continues to look like a goat pasture.  I have lost my patience.  The fairways are pocked marked with vast tracks of dead grass, and dust bowl looking patches.  The greens don't run true even if you tee off at 6am.  There is something wrong with how this facility is being managed.  Why build a new clubhouse but don't build a single shower in the change rooms???  Makes no sense!  There are lot's of better places to blow $103.

I grew up as a junior playing at Encinitas Ranch pretty much every day during summer.  The JC Junior Player's card was an absolutely incredible deal.  $40 for a year long membership and you could walk any of the JC courses for $15.   I really miss those days.  If you know a junior who is looking to learn to golf, I highly recommend this program (I am not sure if it still exists).

Regarding the course, it is pretty straightforward and easy.  The rough is short, the fairways are wide open (the reason I never learned to hit the ball straight), and the greens are pretty flat.  The course is generally in OK shape, but it seems like they are aerating the greens all the time (probably just seems that way, but who know).  They do not mention this when you are making tee times, so be sure to ask if it is around aerating season if you care.

All in all, this course was a great one to learn to golf on.  The JC Golf program is a reasonable deal, and worth it if you plan on playing at any of the JC courses.

I am a fan, but I am not blown away!

The location is great and the twilight price is reasonable.  The course is pretty basic and almost impossible to lose a ball on.  The back nine is easy on the eyes and has some fun elevation changes, but if you head out at twilight you will probably have to play the last two holes in the dark, which sucks because hole 17 is hard enough as it is.  I will probably be back but not before I checkout some other courses in SD.

Nice course, however, if Encinitas Ranch had a tagline it would have to be, "Welcome to the Ranch, home of the 5+ hour round of golf."

Pace of play here is probably the slowest in San Diego outside of the Coronado muni.  The staff is nice however, the management may want to consider picking up the pace of play or demanding anyone over a 10 handicap to play from the whites.

But, it's location is great and there are ocean view holes.

Get a JC card and book an early time.  The pace of play is just fine if you get out with the early crowd.  Great course for the money (resident or JC member) with some pretty interesting hols on the back 9.  Wide open fairways that don't punish you if you lose the ball right.  Many people like the career low rounds with ocean views.  If you ever need a confidence builder at a pretty nice course, ER is the place.

This is a wonderful course managed by JC Golf.  It's one of the best courses that they manage in San Diego.

It also happens to be on the pricier side of the mid-range daily fee courses.

Very well maintained, the course offers a playable layout for duffers but also more challenging from the tips.  Doesn't offer jawdropping views, but there are a lot of ocean facing holes.

For a public track it is pretty darn nice.  Pace of play is horrific, but value is tops.  Course is usually in great shape.  Challenging enough for solid players.

I'm not a proper golfer as my experience stems from years practicing at my grandparents miniature golf course which was part of their summer business. My putting skills definitely became quite good for getting the ball through dinosaurs, mermaids and wishing wells (without a bottom of course) so I have some idea about the sport I would say. When I decided to branch out and try my skills out at a driving range, I was pleasantly surprised to see how far I could actually send the ball. I also developed an appreciation for how serene golf courses could actually be. This one is no exception. It appears to be a happy place encompassed buy beautiful gardens, ponds and greenery. The driving range is open until dark and the course itself I hear is not bad as far as the complete game goes. If you are a resident of Encinitas it is very affordable as well. For a public course an overall excellent experience. If you drive from the coast up Leucadia Blvd. you will pass right through it.
