I loved the Rolando Morales cruise a few weeks ago. Now Capt. Gerry is promising a super-memorable Fleet Week out on the Bay on his Yacht. I've always had great experiences with Empress Events, and this year's Fleet Week will be spectacular...I'm hoping to get out there when the Blue Angels are flying. I'm sure he'll have a few weddings he's doing as well. But as always, great music, great food, great sights.
What a hell of a way to end a weekend.
Bay and Delta Charters cater to wedding receptions, but every so often, they have live bands and this afternoon/evening it was Edguardo Cambon and Candela (salsa band).
The boat docked at 4 pm and took off around 4:20 or so. As soon as my friend and I stepped on the boat, we noticed one thing - we were the youngest people there. 90% of the people were 40 -75. Well that just mean we'd have more room to dance on the 8x9 dance floor upstairs which is fine by me. The ceiling was about 7 feet high which made some of my moves a little tougher to perform, but not impossible.
Salsa dancing can be a challenge for the average person, but when you couple it with a rocking boat and dodging the drunken elderly (who had way to much wine to drink) well let's just say if you manage to stay on your feet and not knock anyone over, you're lucky.
Tickets were $49/person and it included dinner (buffet), appetizers and live music. The food was surprisingly good (but small portions). They had a cash bar on board (the drinks were stiff but moderately priced). All in all, it was worth it - we had a blast (but then again, who doesn't when I'm around?). How often can you dance the evening away with such spectacular views?
