Review from Michael S.
Flushing, NY
This is my favorite salumeria in the city. Some of the best tasting Italian meats and cheeses in the city fairly priced. Authentic southern Italian flavors Brooklyn style. Family run. Friendly people. I haven't been back since I moved from the area five years ago. Back then it was part of my weekly grocery routine, nowadays I don't make it out there often and miss the food. There are some small brands imported from Italy that you won't find anywhere else. Some of the basic good deals are the chunks of Pecorino, mozzarella di bufala(ask what day it arrives from Italy), and salsiccia with broccoli rabe inside. You may find coniglio here occasionally around Easter time. Fai la cacciatore.

Basically a small gourmet grocery store specializing in Italian products, however not limited to Italian products. Jarred beans imported from Spain, fresh Gruyere cheese, dried pasta, etc! Lots of great products for a reasonable price!

One of the reasons I like Williamsburg and miss the fact that my bf doesn't live there anymore.
1) the store smells delicious - maybe that's because I'm an Italian girl who was raised in a bakery in Bensonhurst or maybe because it just smells delicious
2) great selection of Italian ingredients and brands that you cannot find in your local grocery store, or even most supermarket chains for that matter. Big selection of cheeses. I could come into this store stuffed and walk out drooling.
3) fresh, delicious pork. My bf got a few cuts of meat from here and made pulled pork that was out of this world and a very big hit at a bbq
I would definitely take the trip out to Williamsburg to visit this pork store. -

Great quality, friendly staff, and authentic Italian cuisine.
Emily's Pork Store is one of my favorite places to go when I'm preparing an authentic Italian dinner. Whether you're shopping for homemade sausage (delish!) or fresh Burrata (I was educated on this cheesy delicacy), you will not be dissapointed. Be sure to try their seafood salad. Unreal! -

I go in here quite a bit, sometimes just to look around. It's that kind of place. I'll get everything I need to make tiramisu, fresh and dried meats, cheeses, pasta, as well as cheese curds to make my own mozzarella at home. The owner and rest of the staff is super nice and helpful - they even delivered something I needed when I was running late and couldn't get to the store. I love that there are still old-school joints like this around and am so glad I found it.
I can't wait to try the Burrata!Listed in: My Neighborhood

My various standby Italian recipes (sausage & peppers, pappardelle with sausage ragu, lasagna, etc.) are nothing without the sweet fennel and hot sausages from Emily's.
Also, burrata. BURRATA! I LOVE BURRATA! And, they have it.
If you go early on a Saturday and see the loaf of bread with the prosciutto bread (I affectionately refer to as piggie bread), grab one. They will not be there later in the day. They will probably still be warm. Eat it. So. yummy.
When I lived in Chelsea, I used to go to Buon Italia all the time inside Chelsea Market. I have found a new home in Williamsburg (that is significantly cheaper) with fantastic products.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Drinking Game: Take a shot every time I mention "Pork" in this review.
*Sniff sniff*
"You smell like pork." After a spontaneous trip to Emily's Pork Store we both did. I had been aching to visit the shop since visiting Motorino (they use pork products from this joint). Walking in was like traveling through time. It's a Brooklyn that I had thought was pretty much gone from the area. An ancient gentleman and a much younger man were behind the counter (I am 99% sure they are related), and behind them were yellowing, curling photographs from earlier days. Shirtless men flexing, pictures of people with pork, baby photos. It felt homey.
The store is small, but it's packed with fresh Italian delicacies and a ton of imported goods. There were at least 20 different cheeses, aged and fresh. 4 kinds of fresh mozzarella that day (smoked, unsalted, salted celigne, and marinated celigne) all for just $5.99/lb. The Broccoli Rabe pork sausage that I was visiting for was also $5.99/lb. While the mozzarella wasn't AMAZING, the sausage was, and I really can't complain. It's a pork store, not a cheese store.
For my next visit I plan on buying some of their fresh pappardelle...perhaps I will serve it with a pork ragout!Listed in: I hate you when you call it…

Excellent selection of marinated HOMEMADE goodies - olives, mozzarella... oh my. Not to mention the barrels of dried beans for less than $1/lb.
Biggest Awesome Points? One time, the Number One and I needed a small chunk of pancetta, and the butcher just GAVE it to us - didn't charge us a cent! -

The Barata is the ice cream of cheeses. One nice pear, one nice apple sliced. Open the Barata out of its special package and cut it in half. Save the licquid put it on 2 plates with your favorite beer or wine and have dinner. Dinner in heaven that is. Wonderful place to start any fine cooking.

Walking into this place is heaven for your nose. The owner/butcher (Jerry, I think?) was super helpful -- we called ahead for a large quantity of ribs, which he set aside, and then listened to our cooking plans and offered some helpful suggestions. I even learned a few new things from him about cuts of meat/porcine anatomy!
They have KILLER burrata that I promptly took home and demolished with their fresh bread and some tomatoes. It's a really wonderful little place to have in your neighborhood if you love food and supporting your local businesses. -

Everything about this place is tip top. The burrata cheese is flow in from Italy every thursday, the sausage is always juicy and delicious and the chops are perfect. All those cured sausages hanging behind the counter are not to be passed up. Jerry and the whole staff are super nice and treat you the same if you're and amateur or a connoisseur. I feel lucky to live close by.
