I love this place. I was traveling from LA and staying at the Eliot (note: if you book your massage via the Eliot's online/TV system, it's a good idea to confirm w/the spa that what you booked is the same.) I had originally booked a craniosacral but ended up getting a Swedish but it was my to my benefit, because I got the amazing Pat Meyer, who specializes in whiplash treatment, which is why I booked the cranio in the first place! Pat gave me one of the best massage of my life. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is intuitive, professional, and asks just the right amount of questions so you can relax but be worked on in the right way. The facilities are top notch - ultra-clean, relaxing, and an attentive staff. Too cold for the roof deck but sat and chilled (warmed up) by the fireplace for a while. I could have stayed there all day if I didn't have things to do.

    Nice new clean salon.
    Typical newbury salon prices
I've only gone for mani/ pedis and there was nothing extraodinary about it but its still a good mani/pedi.
The only complaint is that the staff was gossiping a LOT in front of a room full of clients. tsk tsk

Been here once to get a Mani/Pedi with a gift card my friend got me for my birthday last summer. It wasn't that great. I figured it would be a little bit more relaxing since it was an actual spa but i felt like my Pedicure was rushed, and i hate that.
The ladies doing my Mani/Pedi were super cute though but i still  felt like i was in a regular Nail Salon.
Ehh, it just wasn't my cup of tea but i'll probaby take another sip for a massage service. I may have a better experience.

The men's lounge is dope!  I got a manicure and a pedicure by Natasha (not sure if she is at a different salon now now.). She was great, the vibe of the place was smooth, and I do not think any man would feel out of place.

I went as a gift and I will be back, yeah I clip my own nails most of the time (lol), but every once and awhile I like to have it done right.

I mean I could watch tv in a massage chair while my nails get situated... That beats me doing it.

It is not cheap, but it is not ridiculous either. Check it out fellas!

    I am going back soon.

I used the other part of the Emerge gift card I got for Christmas the other day for 30-minute targeted massage and a 30-minute thermal spa bath. I went on the the Tuesday after New Year's, and had the entire top three floors to myself. That's one benefit of no real job -- you get any appointments when you want them.

The sandals here are much more comfortable than the skimpy ones they give you to wear at G2O. I don't know why they're different. Anyway, the locker/dressing room is also much smaller. I went in for my bath and was surprised that I had an attendant, and a super-annoying one at that. Another thing that really irked me was that she announced that my bath would be 20 minutes, rather than the 30 listed in the brochure. REALLY?! Presumably, this is for someone to get the bath and the room ready for you for five minutes, and another five to clean afterward. But for the price, I'm really pissed to have had a third of the appointment taken from me. You might also think since I was the ONLY customer they might not have rushed me so much. UGH! I don't have a tub at home, and so this was a great luxury for my poor little soul.

Said attendant also wished me a Happy New Year twice, fun, but pushed some bath salts on me, again, don't have a tub, and kept telling me all about how she did waxing and facials, and to come see her. Sorry, but no. I need someone not so pushy and irritating. I also felt obligated to tip.

The bath itself was really nice, a hydro-tub with lots of jets for lymphatic drainage pulsing up my legs. A dvd/projector played images of a beach in Abaco (an island in The Bahamas) which was really lovely. The room was dimly lit, and soothing music played.

The massage was great. Lucy was very chill in comparison to the other woman, and even showed me a stretch for my pecs, which are apparently tight and pulling on my shoulders.

The fireplace lounge had no fireplace going or tea maker on. I had to figure out how to work these myself (there's a light switch on the left wall of the fireplace that turns it on), because no one was around and there were no other clients. I read a magazine, had some tea, then showered and went on my merry way.

I'd really like to come back and relax in that tub, but holy hell.... You would do good to revise the time policy on this one, Emerge.

This place is amazing....such an experience.  Everything is lux and fabulous!  Manicures are fantastic and everyone who works there is pleasant and polite.  Had a massage and it was to die for....spent some time on the roof deck, so relaxing!  You forget you are in the hustle and bustle of Newbury Street!  A little pricey but totally worth it!

Janine is AWESOME! Ive been seeing her for almost a year now for pedicures and my tootsies always look great! She is super nice.  I will say we don't talk that much, just because I'm a hair stylist and i talk to people all the live long day. so that's my "chill" time. she never pushes conversation and she gives amazing massages at the end of the pedi:)

i definitely recommend to my clients

Emerge was nice enough to contact me and offer me a free massage based on my prior experience.  Not only did they give me one free massage.... they gave me two!  I just used the second my of two gift cards, and am pleased to report back a positive experience.  In total I have had three massages.  See previous review on 1st one.  2nd one was better, but not the best.  3rd massage was fabulous!  I had Rachael and she really gave me a fabulous massage.  Given that the 2nd massage was pretty blah, I"m unsure how frequently I'd come to Emerge.  If I do go back I'll be sure to request Rachael.  I

So I have been going to G20/Emerge starting in 2003 and kept going back to G20 because I had the most amazing stylist Sean and the a wonderful massage therapist. I followed my stylist over to Emerge when he moved to the sister spa. The place is clean and beautiful and the staff was always friendly. I called one day late last year to book with Sean and received a very curt -'He no longer works here" When I tried to get more info about where he went the were not very helpful.. :( So I decided to go back over to G20 and see if Sean's old assistant was still there because I know he would be familiar with what I wanted and I would be comfortable there. Was able to see him about 3 times before the same thing happened and I got the ' He no longer works here' response.

So went back to Emerge because I had one of those great Rue la la coupons that I got as a gift. Got my hair done by a woman stylist ( Do not remember her name) and she was very social and friendly and the experience was overall a good one until I got the bill. I usually spend a ridiculous amount of money getting my hair done and I do not mind doing so for quality work and if you tell me what you are going to do and what I am paying for. She added extra treatments during the conditioning process that were not discussed or requested. I guess she felt because I had a history of getting certain services with Sean that she could just add them to that days service without talking to me about them first. I won't be going back to Emerge get my hair done. It was good but but not great and I only kept spending as much as I did because Sean was truly worth it. Since he is no longer there I will try to find somewhere else to go.

With all that said I must say that G20 still offers amazing massages and I like the VIP area. My old massage therapist is no longer at G20 but when I recently went for a couples massage it was just as amazing as the service has always been.

I had a gift card to G2O/Emerge. I saw that they offer a tooth whitening service called "BRIGHTSPA," decided to try it. Came out with whiter teeth and burned gums. Have yet to decide whether these balance each other out.

I called to make sure that I could use my gift card for this, and the woman who answered simply didn't know what "BRIGHTSPA" was.  I explained that it's the teeth whitening service listed on the G2O/Emerge sites. She then confirmed that yes, using my gift card would be fine, so I booked the appointment.

The rep did not say there was anything I needed to do to prepare, so I called a week before to make sure. They said I should not eat before the treatment, and if I had to eat (really?), to brush my teeth before the appt. I also made double-sure to check that I could use my gift card. She said yes (keep this in mind).

Jane Weatherby is the clinician who does the whitening. She is very positive, very sweet, almost whimsical in her words and actions, just a doll.

I went up three shades, which brings my teeth (in theory) to the highest level of brightness possible without getting veneers. I say "in theory" because that's just what Jane said she found on her shade scale (a bunch of plastic teeth of different shades that she compares your teeth to in order to gauge your whitening progress). She was careful NOT to show the shade scale at the same time as the hand mirror. She'd hold a bright light to my mouth, hold the scale to my teeth, make a decision as to their shade, show me that shade on the scale, put the scale down, and then hand me the mirror. The room is so dim that I could not see the result which, a few days later, is definitely whiter than before.

She mentioned the color would blend so that teeth that were different shades would even out; my incisors are darker than my front teeth, and remain so. So I don't see the blending she speaks of.

    Side effects:

    1) Jane DID NOT USE A LIGHT BARRIER! My gums are purple and peeling. I have since read that dentists will paint your gums with a "barrier" to prevent this; I wasn't so fortunate, and am paying the price. I have a chemical burn on my lower front gums. NOT attractive!!!

    2) It hurts. They call it "tingling." It feels more like... if you brush your teeth too hard and then use Listerine, only for 15 straight minutes.

    3) My bottom front gums were white afterward (really freaky). She said it would go away in 20 minutes. It's two days later, and they're certainly not normal yet, but bleeding and peeling and gross looking.

    3) The inside of my lower lip (visible if I pout) is also burned.

    4) Jane did call me after I attempted to contact her, and told me it was all very normal, and that I have sensitive gums. But according to things I've since read online, I have second degree burns that are a direct result of lack of protection before exposing the soft tissue to UV rays and hydrogen peroxide.

Now, the spa. The rep on my way in said she would check me out when I was done. Jane said pay upstairs. But when I said I had a gift card, she sent me to the desk, who said the gift card cannot be used to cover this treatment. I explained that I made sure it would twice before I got there. She asked whether I knew who I talked to (no). She then called up to Jane, then called G2O, then the manager, then had ME on the phone with the manager. At first told me I would have to basically eat the cost and hold onto my gift card for a "different service." Really?

I calmly explained that this was my first experience with Emerge, and that I wouldn't have booked the service if I couldn't use the card. He put me on hold, came back, said he still couldn't help me. I said, "so, you're going to cost me an extra $120 dollars." He legit said "yes." Then he questioned whether I was making it up (direct quote: "I *want* to believe you!"), because I couldn't name anyone I talked to, and his desk people are "well versed" in their policies.

This isn't Bank of America, it's a spa.

He called the owner, came back on the phone, and suddenly was able to accommodate my initial request to charge a gift card. He wanted my experience at Emerge to be "human" (I suspect this is his boss' language).

Would I recommend BRIGHTSPA to others? Nope. Unless they graduate to giving a crap about gum tissue. This is scary stuff. But to be fair, it did whiten my teeth! And for under $200. I might go back if she'd agree to incorporate some protective film to prevent the burning from really screwing with my gums.

Would I recommend Emerge? Like many reviews, and as evidenced by this post, the customer service is more like that of, say, the returns desk at TJMaxx than even a mid-level spa. The fact that they tried to make me foot the bill for what was essentially (according to the manager) a "bookkeeping issue" and, from my experience, a quite dangerously flawed procedure, well. This is just not something I saw coming from a salon on Newbury Street that has its own elevator in it.

This actually hovers between 3.5 / 4. Strong sense of interior decor, tech staff cares about clients, in a scenic, accessible location. Spa is spread out over 4 floors with a roof relaxation area and a fireside lounge and cafe inside on the top floor. Treatment rooms are on the 2nd floor, changing area is on the 3rd (I may have mixed that up).

There is a 20+ person VIP suite and a couple's VIP suite. Latter has a whirlpool hydrotherapy tub, private toilet, mini kitchen, and treatment rooms. I booked the couples suite, which is on the top floor.

These are booked through Christine, who was very professional, on her game, helpful, thoughtful, and made sure everything ran smoothly for me. Although the VIP suite is supposedly private, you end up moving up and down between the locker room floor and the suite floor. You basically pay to rent an area for your treatment separate from where others are, but if you're moving between floors you might as well just get a typical treatment room.

I preferred the suite whirlpool tub to the separate hydrotherapy tub they offer. The suite treatment rooms are not well sound-proofed, particularly the one street-side. I could hear street noise very clearly during my treatments.

Hydrotherapy - this option is rare on the east coast and was my main reason for picking this place. The room is Japanese-inspired with a nice looped "beach scene" projection on the wall - the video was a little short and the tub wasn't as powerful as it could have been.

Facial was VERY good - Tricia, the technician, was charming, friendly, well-versed in her techniques, and made me feel well-taken care of. I think she even left the room at one point to tell a person loudly cleaning in the next room to quiet down (I didn't ask her to!).

I had a mix up with my massage - I ordered a deep tissue and got a Swedish. I prompted my masseur to feel free to go deeper, which he did not, so I asked as I checked out and learned what happened. It was a pleasant enough massage, just not what my body needed.

The spa likes a particular brand of beauty/body care line that is, compared to other lines I've used and had used on me, fairly mediocre, but they swear by it and use heaps of it, especially the lotion.

The spa's changing area has automatic locking doors (no key required!), average amenities, and two private showers. Showers are aesthetically clever, with imbedded rocks in the floor for you to stand on. They also (big plus) have quality plus size robes.

There is only one restroom (that I know of) on this floor, and that's in the changing area. It has no sink of its own and the door's lock was broken, with a sign to knock before entering.

The waiting room has coffee/tea, and a few magazines. It's very small and has no clock, which may prove confusing if you have more than one treatment.

I was left forgotten for 20 minutes in the waiting room although I was told to arrive 15 minutes early to start my day. The technician who fetched me apologized and made an effort to fix this.

One major kink is the front desk service. Run your spa like a fine hotel - the front desk is the first and last thing people see and engage with. The best spas emulate the finest - Four Seasons, etc.

First call to set up the VIP Suite, I got a guy who put me on hold for long periods (not knowing how to arrange this), then a woman who said "Um" a lot. After I finally got set up, the night before one called me and left me a complex message about needing to change treatments and times. When I called back, I got more "Ums," no real interest in being sure and solving things, and a few "you should be fine" comments. Are we in high school? Then I got a follow-up call from Christine, which resolved everything (go Christine!).

When I showed up and they saw I was black, they would have let me wander unattended if Christine hadn't shown up to grab me. She didn't bat an eye (class!). When I got left for 20 min waiting upstairs and called down for help, I got more "Ums" and "Christina is off doing her VIP concierge thing."

At the end of the night, they stared openly while I set about arranging tips for all the technicians like they'd never seen such a thing. Their ignorance boggled. Maybe they ought to come to California, where plenty of other brown people have Ivy League educations and can afford to travel the world. Not only do we have class and manners - we tip. The 4th star here is only because of Christine and Tricia's quality of service. Christine even made me a gift baggy with some neat products and samples.

For the price that I paid, I think i'd be happier with better services.  The decor of the place is so-so..the waiting room is quite small and one could easily feel claustrophobic in there.

My deep-tissue massage was very nice.  Deb was very professional and her massage was heavenly.

I also tried the hydro-shower-steam thingy and I didn't like it.  It was too confusing and too much water were coming out from every directions.  I thought i'd drown in that 15 minutes of what was supposed to be pure sensation and bliss or whatever that they advertised it to be.

Overall, I think that the place could use more work and a better customer service.  Everything was overpriced for the advertised level of service and facility.

I have been going to Emerge for a couple of years, and love all of their services.  In the summer, it's so cool, after a massage or facial you can lay in the sun on their terrace, and they will order lunch for you from the great restaurants downstairs.

I am writing the review though, specifically for Anna, who has been cutting and coloring my hair for a year now.  I have been foiling my hair for 10 years now, consistently.  I have lived in 4 countries and 5 cities, including NYC and London, and noone has been as great as Anna.  This is the first time, actually, that I have been loyal to one person for so long!

    Amazing!

My boyfriend sent me to Emerge spa for a massage for my birthday. The experience was just perfect for my birthday present. I've never felt more pampered and although this was my first time at a spa, they took me through the steps so that I didn't feel uncomfortable or rushed. The atmosphere was relaxing and the massage by Karen was amazing! Afterward, I felt like I was walking on clouds and I had no tension in my body. I was even a happier person due to the experience.

Included with the services is a sauna and the ability to go to their fireplace lounge along with a roof deck. Although I wasn't interested in frequenting the roof deck in the middle of March, I think it'd be fabulous in the middle of summer with some girlfriends.

Definitely a great place to go if you want to get pampered.

If you're going to charge the highest price for a massage in Boston, your service better deliver & Emerge fell waaaay flat on service.

The building is gorgeous & they've created a physical environment of elegance & indulgence.  But the customer service is terrible from start to finish.  The front desk staff is horribly rude & I'm a really friendly person!  I was dressed nicely & had a designer bag, & didn't exactly look like some tart who got a gift certificate from her boss & would never come back.

The massage was very average, and the locker room was underwhelming.  I'm spending my spa dollars elsewhere.

The front desk is ridiculously rude.

My friend and I were strolling down Newberry Street after a long week of working our butts off.  We're 3000 miles away from home and just looking for a good haircut!

We came across this place, squealed a little, and went inside.  Having forgotten decent shampoo on this trip, I had been using hotel shampoo and it was ripping apart my hair.  The front desk ended up being extremely rude to me and I was not happy.  I made an appointment anyway.. i needed the therapy.

I came back for my appointment that afternoon and I waited for almost 45 minutes before they took me in.   WTH?  The front desk did not tell the stylist that he had an appointment.

They finally took me upstairs and here is where they earned 4 stars.  They took me in, listened to me vent, and got infuriated with the front desk.  They told the manager about what happened and took care of it for me (I think).  Thank you for listening Greg & team! :)

I walked out with silky hair, repaired and vibrant chocolate color and a new big $220 hole in my wallet (cut, conditioning and color).

I wish I had come  little earlier so I could have enjoyed the fireplace and the roof-top sun deck.  I am sure I could have spent all day here.

Come for the service in the salon, not the front desk.

    What a terrible experience...
This is my 2nd time at the spa.  The 1st time was great.  My gf & I went there for a couples massage and hair cuts.  What should have been a nice relaxing time, ended up stressing me up more than had I not gone.

The massage was great except that the woman's nails were too long and I felt like my back was getting cut up.  I asked for a deep tissue sports massage, so imagine the amount of pressure she was using with those nails.

Next I took a shower to get the oil off.  The door to the locker room was closed while I was in showering, etc.  To my amazement, as I was pulling my underwear up my bumm, the door opens and the cleaning lady pops in.  She said sorry and leaves, but wtf?  No knock first???

Now for the hair cut...it has to get better right?  Not.

Someone else in Yelp mentioned the the negligent front desk girls.  Well...So I went to the front desk to tell them I'm ready for my hair cut.  One of the girls tells me to wait up there.  I was there 10 mins early for my cut.  26 mins later, yes 26 mins, I was staring at the time at that point, some girl came down to get the only other person in the waiting area because she had color goop in her hair.  She said, "umm,  are you mark? you can come up too'.  Are you kidding me, I'm an effing after thought and 16 mins late at that?   I was fuuuuming.  My gf, who's hair appt was 30 mins after min was already in the salon getting waited on.

I'm sorry, but at $400 dollars for the 2 of us.  That is unacceptable!

There was no monetary tip for them.   I did however leave them some tips on their comment card.

After getting a good look and studying my Emerge Newbury St, hair doo, I feel even more ripped off.

I usually get my hair cut at Leeba Salon, by a fairly new hair stylist for $25.  It kills me that the $25 cut is WAY better than what the snob at Emerge did for me.  That stylist at Emerge should be ashamed of herself.  I don't have a difficult style.  It's pretty simple, but she was able to effe it all up.  My side burns are all hacked up.  I had to fix it myself.  I feel embarrassed to go to Leeba and have them fix it.  The sides of my hair is all uneven on 1 side and close to even on the other.

I wonder if I can get my money back....

    6/22/11
Emerge contacted me to try and correct my issues with their spa.  For the most part, they kissed my a$$, but I dunno.  The second time around I received a swedish massage and a haircut.  The massage was great and the haircut was great, but everything else about the salon was frustrating.

It's the front desk girls...  They are horrible.  They really really are.

Booked seasonal lavender pedicures, and we received the classic. The staff was friendly in person, on the phone, and online. So I was disappointed when we received the wrong service. However, I was charged appropriately.

I love that they have a men's lounge/floor. I was the only one there while I got my massage and pedicure. The lounge opens up onto Newbury St. and it was a great view to have while getting my pedicure.

With construction going on next door the massage was not as quite as I would have liked, but still a very nice and relaxing massage.

I have an appointment for a haircut at thier sister salon G2O this week.

I just moved from Boston to NY and I swear I miss my hairdresser more than anyone.

Being a super picky hair snob, I won't let just anyone touch my locks. I've been blonde and brunette in the past, and I always like it to look natural and glossy. Thanks to Linda, my hair is still in great shape (even 2 months after the last appointment!)

They always spend a lot of time consulting with you, and each cut/style/color is tailored to the client. You get to look out onto Newbury St., as the salon is a floor up from the Spa.

Everyone who I see here always has great hair; a nice sign! Although it is a bit pricey, they do a fabulous job at Emerge. Plus, the decor is so regal and lovely, it is relaxing in and of itself. Well done!

Do you want a real luxury experience of a mani/pedi? Well Emerge is the place to go. Unfort I'm not loaded (well not yet at least) - so I can't make this a monthly place to get mani/pedis, but its nice for a special occasion.

I would agree with other reviews that the front desk staff is a little rude, but never so bad that I wouldn't go back. I've also booked a few appointments for an ex at the men's club that he really enjoyed. So if you're looking to get some services for a male friend who might be a little apprehensive about getting some "girly" services done- I would suggest here since they have the men's club.

As any female can attest to, finding the perfect hair stylist can take years, especially when you change your hair color as often as your nail polish.  I've been a loyal Emerge customer for over a year now and after years of struggling to find my perfect hair stylist, I stumbled across Linda who has proven to be a godsend.  She is a hands down must if you're looking for the perfect cut, color, and styling in Boston.

As a whole, the staff and facilities at Emerge are far superior to those of their competitors.  The spa and salon are top notch and the knowledgeable staff are always friendly and attentive.  In addition, they carry Trish McEvoy's full line of makeup - reason alone for one to love them.

To sum things up, go to Emerge, ask for Linda...ohhh, and Trish McEvoy is awesome.

I have been to Emerge a bunch of times. It is a great relaxing place to get a massage or a treatment. I have had a facial, multiple hot stone massages, and a wrap. The wrap was the least favorite, but I typically don't like to feel like I can't move. They have a small locker room , a few showers, and a small steam room.  There is also a nice roof top deck that you can relax on. I have been here for a bachelorette party and they were very accommodating. I have also visited their sister spa G20 across the street. They have a nice spacious locker room, very small steam room, but a nice brine inhalation room to relax in between treatments. I did not love my massage at G20, but the overall ambiance is nice.

I joined yelp just to write a review for this salon, and WARN everyone!

I honestly thought maybe it was me, I am a young professional, and little do they know I actually make very nice living but god forbid I walk into this salon in anything but my head to toe designer clad outfit, I was treated so poorly from the front desk.  The barely legal receptionists, (perhaps still in beauty school?)  were so rude. After reading the other review on this salon I know it is not just me.

Now, I am totally in tuned with what to expect from a Newb's salon, but I have to say for the most part despite where you fall in the social hierarcy of Boston, the salons in this area are quite friendly to anyone that walks through their door (in every class, all women want phenom hair and they'll pay for it!)

I only hope the owners read Yelp to get a feel for how their first line of service is clouding the image of their salon. I am sure they must have outstanding stylists but no one will ever be able to find that out if that can't get past the abrasive, rude gatekeepers.

I went here for a color when I first moved to Boston.  The person I got was ok, but not worth what I paid for.  I had a partial foil and although the placement of the strands was fairly well done, she put the color way, way too far from the root.  When you do that on a partial foil you are basically making the person come back for a touch up far sooner than they would normally have to.

I like Emerge a lot.  I think the staff is really friendly and the facilities are SO clean and nice.  The massages are pretty good although I couldn't tell if I got a deep tissue or a swedish.  I'm bummed that they got rid of the caviar pedicures, though.  WHY!?  Caviar is good on literally everything. Everything.  Anyway, next time I go, I'd like to try their mineral baths.

Except for the front-desk staff, the technical staff is very, very good. The more expensive pedicure is really worth it (ask for Jane) and my feet always feel amazing and soft afterwards. For waxing or facials, ask for Alla. Kristen Lee gives a great haircut! The 4th floor area is really nice and the roof deck is great during the summer. I have not had a massage there, but I am guessing it is of a very high quality.

My boyfriend and I both went for Swedish massages. I thought the masseuse was very professional and extremely knowledgeable.  She did not bother me at all but sure that I was breathing properly and that I was comfortable throughout the entire massage. I've experienced many massages and this is the first time I've ever had someone making sure I was breathing properly. I would go back to Karen  again.  I love the look of the spa you feel as though you are walking out of Boston and into a tropical place. I would go back.

my lovely wife got me a nice gc, for a facial, pedicure, and manicure.
the facial which included a shoulder massage was long, soothing, and so so relaxing. i enjoyed every minute of it.
i'm sorry i can't say the same for the mani/pedi. for the price they charge for those services, it should have been above par from the generic parlors.
looking forward to going back for more therapy.

I've been to Emerge several times and loved it each and every time.  I'm due for a trip back!  My friends took me for my 40th birthday and we had a blast!  Pedi, Facial and Hot Stone Massage.  (I always end up with some combination of those 3 or maybe all 3!)   We ordered lunch in (they have a menu) and my friends brought a birthday cake.  We hung up in the fireplaced lounge for a long time laughing it up and enjoying ourselves.  It was an awesome day!  Everyone I have ever dealt with has been great!  And the building is gorgeous.  It truly is an escape!!

I am unlucky in that my husband's birthday is right after Christmas. I always feel like my bday gift is rather anti climactic after all of his Xmas gifts. I never know what to get him, so this year I decided to spoil him with a spa treatment. After doing some research, I found Emerge Salon and their "gentleman's salon". I was intrigued. After more reading on their very informative website, I decided on a gentleman's facial since it seemed to incorporate a relaxing facial with a massage. Buying the gift certificate online was easy peasy! So last Saturday we showed up at 4:15PM for his 4:30PM appointment. The receptionist was lovely (I had read Yelp reviews that the receptionist was a beotch, but they must have taken care of that situation). She gave us a tour of all 4 floors, and left me to wait in the gorgeous 4th floor lounge area, complete with a roof deck (open in the Summer) and roaring fireplace, water/tea and plenty of magazines. It was the most relaxing 60 minutes of my weekend. My husband called me when he was finished, all sleepy eyed, red faced and relaxed. Brooke had given him a wonderful facial, neck massage, and even gave him the hand warmers. We then topped off the night with drinks at the M bar. What a great experience, I will be booking an appointment for myself soon!
