Oh dear God.  The sheer fact that this is an Indian Casino is the only thing that keeps me from utter blasting it.  I'll keep it short in the interests of reviewing more interesting things:

Goods:
* Table games (yes, I love craps)
* They have Ketel One and Soda
* Boxmen/women are pretty cool and make gaming fun
* Easy comps

Bads:
* Only double odds (are they that scared of 3-4-5x?)
* Plastic cups
* Salty old men who come in and try to fuck up your game by betting the 'Don't Pass' line.  ALL NIGHT.
* The buffet is no better than a high school cafeteria.  Seriously.

Yeah, I'm not going to back to these properties unless I'm either:

1.  Seriously drunk
2.  Seriously high on something or
3.  Roofied and being dragged over to lose my money

Yes, all three involve some sort of chemical and only #1 is the likely scenario.  But somehow, even in a stupor, I can still pick a good location to dump my cash - but this isn't one of them.

If you're ever feeling depressed and thinking about writing into http://fmylife.com I suggest stopping by Emerald Queen Casino for a little reality check.

Once you leave their warren of smoky hallways, get away from the constant buzzing of electric gambling machines, and escape the oppression of their low ceilings...you'll be free! Free as a bird! You'll realize your life is not that bad at all. You don't have a gambling addiction, you don't live in Fife, you have good teeth, and you can breathe all the clean air you want all day long.

Thanks to EQC we can all love life a little bit more...as soon as we leave.

What does one do for fun during business trip?  Well, what better way to kill some time than at a casino?

This casino is about 18 miles from where I was staying at Southcenter Mall.  I was really surprised at how big it was.  Unlike my last trip to its sister casino a couple of miles away, this one has good variety of slot machines, most of them penny slots.  According to the website, it has around 1500 slots.  It even has a hotel with it.

On a Tuesday night, this place was pretty busy.  Easy freeway access probably helped.  The casino has low ceiling so it was pretty smoky.  People were very friendly.

Since I was on business trip, I played very conservatively.  After 3 hours, I left with a gain of $120.  Not too bad if you ask me.

This is about the EQ casino just off of I-5.

Casinos filled with cigarette smoke I imagine might be a sort of Native Am. revenge.  Make them choke on sacred  tobacco fumes and shake them free of their wampum at the same time.

I grew up with a chain smoking mother, when smoking was considered cool, so places like this bring back memories of my childhood home, which I don't miss.

I also once lived in Mexico City for a year, where breathing the air was supposedly like smoking 5 packs a day.  The EQC air  is actually worse than Mexico City's.  They really could use a new HVAC system, one that works, at least.

I like to play Baccarat, because it's easy and because it has the best odds for the player - this is why most casinos keep Baccarat tables to a minimum.  I lived in Asia long term, and got used to playing Bacarrat and Pachinko, both of which are popular there, probably because  neither game takes any skill whatsoever.  The only secret to playing Bacarrat is to play on a tie as often as possible, because ties pay 8 to 1, and they happen more often than you think.

The Indian casinos usually have a couple of Baccarat tables for the Asian crowds, but now most of these places have a minimum bet of $25 or more.  I liked it better when you could do $5 at a time, but I suppose they wanted to shake more money out of their Asian clientele.  That's mostly who you see at Baccarat tables - and me, sometimes.

It's interesting to sit at one of these tables and watch these people drop literally thousands of dollars at a time, lose it, and in a drunken frenzy lose even more.  Where the hell do they get all that money?  And there I am with my lousy $5 chips, trying to turn $100 into $500.  No wonder the casinos lost interest in low-rollers like me.  I can't even pay to keep a lightbulb on in that place.  Back to the penny slots, I guess.

A note - if you do a table game at this place, and are considered a "slow player" - e.g. you do not bet every round,  or often enough to satisfy the house, you will get called on it.  You will get pointed out.  People are watching.  Especially through those ceiling cameras.

I liked the casino when it was housed in a Mississippi style paddle boat on a nearby river.  Is it still there?  At least you could breathe there.  On top of that, enough light came in that it was light and airy.  Much better aesthetics.

At the EC on I-5, I feel like I'm in some sort of shadowy fuming purgatory surrounded by wheezing diabetics in wheelchairs.  Not glam at all.  I'd hate to see what most of their patrons look like in natural daylight.

Last time I was there, I won $40 on the penny slots, but hell, it took me all day.  Must have breathed in at least 6 packs by the time I left.

There is a $1 shuttle to the EQC from Chinatown in Seattle - as I recall it leaves around 6th and Weller most days around noon.  Mostly older Asians.  Last time I used the shuttle I was the only white person outside of the driver.  On the ride back some Vietnamese guy kept bugging me to loan him some money because he'd lost all of his money gambling.

The best part of the gambling experience was watching the woman next to me talk to the slots.  "I'll see you tomorrow" she whispers to the machine she's been sitting at all day as she gets up to leave.  It's times like these that I wish I knew ventriloquism.

Pretty much all my Fife reviews are gonna start with Oh. Dear. God.

Though we were totally confused by the TWO Emerald Queen Casinos mere yards (okay, miles) from each other off the 5, we obviously chose the worst of the two (but not for lack of trying because we missed the Tacoma one and when we tried to double back, we found out you can't really do that without getting back on the freeway, which I think is Fife's way of saying "HA!!! We got you now!!!!"

So our plan was .... ill-conceived from the beginning, but we were going to stop into the casino for dinner on a lark. Ha ha ha. No, not so much. I seriously thought I was going to barf from the cigarette smoke and there was no way I could eat in that kind of atmosphere. I'm not trying to be an elitist snob, I'll eat almost ANYWHERE, I just get really really ill, like insta-migraine, around that much cigarette smoke.

So we played one ticket - nickel slots, so sad - and we bugged out of there with an extra 15 cents in our pockets. Seriously, slots for pennies, nickels or dimes is just pathetic. And the machines don't even explain what you're rooting for so what is the point?

It's all bad. The extra star is for the nice assortment of flavored creamers they leave out for your coffee.

I sure wish there was a negative star option!  It is old, ugly and stinks!  Add that to the rude staff and I will never step back in that hole.  My hubby and I stopped by yesterday to waste some time and money and he had a 2 or 3 inch PLIERS on his hip.  You'd have thought he was a terrorist.  He was standing in line to get a ticket when some one asked him what ie was.  He told her and she said no "tools" allowed in here!  He said okay and got out of line to take it back to our car.  She litterally screamed "STOP!  You have to be escorted out the nearest door."  WHAT?  He was told to leave his beer too!  No refund offered. He ended up casually strolling to the door  he had came in and finished his beer as he strolled with his escort right behind him, I guess because they were afraid he'd stop and pull a nose hair out of someone with those pliers.  Oh, by the by, my husband is 63 years old and has never caused a problem anywhere.  The way they treated him was just plain RUDE!  I HATE THE PLACE!

i don't live far from the fife EQC, so i've had a few experiences there.  oddly enough, the one time i really enjoyed a meal there was when i ordered something from the specials menu, which is usually a gamble!

the interesting (or odd?) thing about this restaurant (the one past the round column fish tanks) is that they have a full chinese menu along with the usual american fare.  my boyfriend's mom ordered this cashew shrimp dish that was orgasmic! i kid you not, i kinda wish i'd ordered it myself.  however, my dish was DELISH!  of all things, on their specials menu, they had this crazy good salmon with polenta! when made well, i LOVE polenta, and this was no exception.  it was SO GOOD.  the salmon was seasoned to perfection, peppered and loaded with pico de gallo.  it was a very satisfying and well made dish.

my only reason for giving this restaurant three stars is because of the ambiance.  i don't like the seating layout in there.  and also, the service is not consistent.  i don't know if three stars is too harsh for that alone, but for me it made a big difference.

This is the hotel site in Fife and is a lot smaller than the larger casino just down the road.  My first trip to the EQC ended up here and I wasn't too impressed until I found out that this is where the senior bus tours came to stay and play.  We got better directions and headed south on I-5 to the large casino and entertainment venue which was more to my expectations.

I like this casino because they have great games. One side has more of the newer games, the other side all the older ones. I wished their change ticket machines would work because the lines can get long at the cashier. All the machines take cash which is a plus. They need better air ventilation though because all you smell is cigarette smoke.
