Review from Megan M.
St Helena, CA
I've been going to Susan for over a year and she's absolutely excellent. Every time I step in to Emerald Day Spa, I'm welcomed with a clean environment and warm smiles.
Susan is professional, caring, thorough, and speedy. I usually have waxings done by Susan, although Megan is also very thorough and sweet.
They also have a dermatologist, Dr. Chang, who is available once a week. Dr. Chang met with me for a free consultation and literally turned my skin care routine around. My skin looks and feels so much better and I've received many compliments, so friends are noticing too!
I take in issues of which I harbor crazy insecurities and Emerald Day Spa melts them away. I love them for that. -

This place had me FUMING RED... in two different places!!
Today was my 2nd visit and after today, I will not return again. I have to admit that I didn't really want to try the new girl out, but since Susan was completely booked, I figured the new girl couldn't be bad (plus, Susan did a fantastic gig on me last time, how could she go wrong in hiring?).
I guessed wrong. She must have been fresh from cosmo school.
I got the waxing today and I won't go into much details into it, but this is what I observed:
1) Double dipping stick
2) Sticky wax (supposedly "soothing wax!" HA!)
3) Aloe "soothing lotion" burned me in the aftermath. It must have had alcohol in it.
While I was happy to "help" the newbie, she plucked a few after the wax and then left the room when she was done. Never did I get anything to help clean my hands/fingers afterwards (HELLO WET handi-wipe please!) and I had to "finish the job" with the tweezers she left behind. Now if only I could take pictures (GROSS). I found the wax upin there if you get my drift. I had to go out in the hallway where the sink is and I helped myself to their supplies. I found some kind of essential oil to use to soothe myself and to get the wax off back in the room.
I've had plenty of wax gigs and here's my advice...
1) Do not double dip the stick
2) Try not to get the customers to help
3) Use a cream, rather than Aloe gel
4) Give custys a handi-wipe for their hands
5) Give custys a mirror afterwards (I know, weird, but whatever)
To top things off, the employees (4 or so?) all crowded around the register when I was paying and I could not have said what was on my mind to save the embarrassment for all of us. So I wrote on my cc slip that I would not be returning in lieu of my signature.
I'm sure this was a very rare occurrence as my first trip wasn't like that, but I felt it rather personal to discuss a private matter about my private matter!!!!!
If you need to get some stuff done, I would recommend seeing Susan only, but DUH... she is so booked, but it might be worth the wait.
OH... and btw, the best gigs I've ever had was from a Vietnamese woman in SF on Polk St. In and out in 15 minutes. After each strip, she would massage that area for about 5 seconds with her fingers to camouflage the sting and when she was done, she lather me with Neosporin so I would not be in pain for long. Now if only everyone could that.... I'd be visiting once a month like I'm suppose to! -

There is nothing like getting great service in a friendly, owner operated day spa. I booked a Back Treatment and received a very pleasant treatment from the owner, Susan.
It's alot of work operating a business and providing customers with quality service and trust me, I know what I am talking about. However, Susan turned out to be a blessing in disguise. She is knowledgeable, friendly, professional and just the sweetest person.
Her spa is small and not jammed with unnecessary things trying to make it something it's not. Her staff makes it easy for you to book appointments and follow-up with product recommendations to help you maintain all the great work and results at home.
I never re-book appointments within a week of one another but I did and will be back Monday for a skin care treatment/facial. -

Nothing fancy or flashy here... but I had a great experience! I came in to pamper myself a week before my wedding Susan was so attentive and addressed all my concerns and is so sweet. :)
The waxing services I got here were fairly painless.. and so were the prices lol...
I will deffinetly be coming back in the near future. -

This is one of my favorite day spas!
Extremely reasonable prices with great customer service.
Appts are easy to come by so I can swing by on my lunch and get what I need done. Staff is very friendly. It's not a swanky type of day spa, but it's clean with a great value. -

Susan, the owner, is very meticulous and does a great job. Whenever I have gone in for a waxing she has been thorough, professional, and has kept her rates at an affordable price. I have been burned at other salons before and she assured me that the wax is kept on a low level heat all day to prevent problems like this. She is as good as it gets, rest assured that you're in good hands!

Sacramento, CA
I called 2x's at last minute for various waxes and brow and lash coloring, they were able to fit me in and were very accomidating. Both times I walked away extremely happy. Most places I break out after waxing and am in discomofort for the first 3 days after waxes (I have VERY sensative skin) but not when I go to Emerald Day Spa! The enviorment is relaxing and both people who assisted me each time were WONDERFUL! Megan and Susan, both great people who know what they're doing. I highly recommend!

Napa, CA
I'm not really one of them girly-girls, don't like fou-fou stuff, and am not super comfortable being nekkie around, basically, strangers. However, I do appreciate cleanliness, and am just fed up dealing with razors and whatnot, so I called Susan. She made me feel totally at ease right away. The atmosphere of the entire spa is relaxing and soothing, without being over the top. I've been in twice, and am making another appointment as soon as I finish this review. The staff is quite friendly and inviting as well; It's always a pleasure to talk with them. And to top it off, their prices are astounding. A+ for Emerald.

Review from Katie M.
Sparks, NV
I'm visiting from Nevada and was pleased to find a salon that could get me and 2 others in for a pedicure really quickly the same day. The manicurist was very nice but I felt the pedicures were extremely mediocre. 2 of us were supposed to get the deluxe pedicures but she only did the basic ones which was very disappointing. The pedicures I get back home at the upscale salons in Nevada are wonderful so I expected a lot more from this seemingly upscale spa in Napa. Very disappointed. =(

Cynthia has been my esthetician for the last few years. I used to have acne, with scarring. I now have completely clear and glowing skin. Over the years, she has introduced to me the latest procedures and products, and always follows up the next day. I would highly recommend her services!

Napa, CA
I never go anywhere else in Napa for bikini waxes. It is the best value by far. The waxes are good- they get the job done. For a bikini wax, I don't need anything fancy. The place is nice enough, clean, and everyone has always been pleasant. Susan is probably the best aesthetician there but I usually just get whoever is available when I can make it and I've never had a bad experience. As a Napa local, I appreciate places that are targeted and priced more for the local than the tourist.

The owner very generously contacted me and offered to fix my brows - very nice. Unfortunately, she didn't do a better job. I also had her perm my eyelashes - but It was not successful. I would not go back.

Review from Patti Q.
Napa, CA
This spa is great. I've had a massage and also three glycolic peels. The staff is wonderful and the prices are very reasonable. I also enjoy that the spa is on a smaller scale and it's located in a nice downtown area. It always smell's so great in there! They are very good at scheduling appointments also. I would recommend this spa to everyone and have already told several of my friend's about it.

Review from Brenda G.
Santa Clara, CA
What only two stars? Yes, sadly. However, there is a shining star here and that is the owner Susan George. She is very professional and knows what good customer service is. I was able to get a massage appointment with only a 2 day notice-unheard of from where I come from. The front office staff is courteous and greeted me warmly. I was lead into the massage room and I immediately noticed another table piled high with a hodge podge of extra furniture. Extra furniture??....not very restful. My table was next to the wall on the other side. As I lay there on the table, I could hear Marie having to squeeze in between the table and the wall in order to reach my left side. At one point Marie pulled out my left arm in order to get a full extension stretch. This couldn't happen because my left hand was bent askew touching the wall. The "oil" that was used was cold and every time she applied it to me, it reminded me of Crisco. Then the massage became a little weird. I was balancing up on the table doing "yoga" like stretches for my lower back. I have never had that happen before. That was definitely not relaxing for me. During one of these poses, I was on my side with my knees drown up to my chest and my heiny was hanging out because Marie had pulled the sheet down to massage my lower back. I just could not relax and couldn't wait to get off that table. I don't think I will go back for a massage, but I might try some of their other services like facials etc. Susan George was very professional and she was very apologetic about my experience. She is top notch!
