I really like this hotel, but it does have it's cons:
1. You have to pay for velvet parking.
2. It's always over priced.
3. If you end up with a room over looking I-5, be ready for a sleepless night. The noise from the freeway is terrible.
Other than what I mentioned, it's a really nice hotel with a really good food selection.

Hey! If it's good enough for the National Livestock Producers Association it's good enough for me. They were holding their national convention here and there were ranchers all over the place.
We had a lovely "suite" on the sixth floor overlooking the American River. Or was it the Sacramento River? I dunno. It was definitely some river anyway. For $140/night you get two double beds and a hide-a -bed so there was enough room for my wife and me as well as our three kids. They serve complimentary breakfast from 0630-0930 everyday that includes made-to-order omelets, eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, waffles, juice, coffee and tea. No, it isn't Waterfront but what can you expect for complimentary? In the evenings they serve pretzels and FREE booze. (There, that ought to get their attention).
WARNING- there are lots of people out there who like free booze so you may have to wait in line to get your drinky.
There were myriad frazzled parents standing around the pool with a free drink in each hand watching their children swim.
The pool was a bit small and overcrowded with kids. It reeked of chlorine yet the water was kind of murky. It was an indoor pool so I doubt the problem was sunscreen if you know what I mean. The jets in the jacuzzi didn't work:-(
The only other glitch was the valet at $25/day seems a bit pricey but then again parking in any major city downtown seems to cost about that. We asked them to get our car for us last night well in advance so we could make our dinner reservation and they seemed to forget about us. My wife complained and they took off the parking charge for yesterday.
If you have kids and are coming to Sacramento, this hotel is not a bad choice. It's right next to Old Sacramento and the Railroad Museum which the kids will love. The room prices are reasonable enough that if you are flush you can get two "suites" Otherwise, the whole family can fit into one room and you can save money. Who can argue with complimentary breakfast-especially when you have picky eaters like I do. Finally, if your kids are driving you nuts, the complimentary happy hour will be therapeutic.

Stayed over the weekend and booked a standard suite. Parking is very limited since the only option is to use valet for a whoppin 25 bucks per nite. Nope, they do not have a parking lot for self parking. The room is spacious and clean with 3 star ammenities, and the beds were comfortable. I booked a king bed, got two full size beds instead, I asked for foam pillows and got the feathered ones.
Valet staff were friendly with about a 5-10 minute wait. Housekeeping did a good job and were attentive, the front desk was a mixed review since upon departure, one of the front desk ladies I talked to was unattentive and looks like she missed some much needed sleep.
Not to sure if I'll stay at this particular hotel when visiting sac again, might try something else.
Hotel is gorgeous! ESP 7th floor. The managers complimentary reception is soo awesome. Free drinks! Rooms are beautiful and comfy.
We tend to stay at mostly Hilton chain hotels due to the Hilton Hhonors points. This one was pretty nice, remodelled, and we had a great view of the Sacramento river. They new what they were doing as we didn't hear any river or train noise. Downside was the window didn't open very much. Was nice being able to walk across the street and sit next to the rivers edge. Hotel was typical Embassy suites, managers reception and free breakfast. Worth it for those two points. Complaints were that our room was not cleaned by 3:30 PM even though we were gone all day long and that we had asked for our car to be brought up a half hour before check out and waited over 1/2 hour. Other than that, all was fine. Would recommend.
Whenever we go on vacations we usually always stay at the Embassy Suites. So you could say I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Embassy hotels.
I was really shocked to see that the parking was $25/ night. But the location is great because you are right across the street from Old Town Sac and could just walk across the street if you want to do some shopping or dining.
The lobby was ok, it had the usual water features, but nothing comparable to the Embassy in the Burlingame area. This Embassy is actually pretty small in comparison. The room was pretty small too and the decor was ok. The rooms in the Embassy Monterey are way better.
Our room had a view of the noisy I-5 and the Sacramento River. The freeway was pretty noisy at night, so next time we'll know to ask for the river view only.
We went down to the manager's reception that every Embassy has. It's at 5:30pm and they serve FREE cocktails and snacks. I had a cosmopolitan and a long island iced tea. The cosmo was a little too sweet for me and the long island iced tea was ok, but it's all good because it was all FREE!. The snacks were chips & salsa, chex mix, goldfish crackers, broccoli, carrots with ranch dipping sauce. My hubby ordered a clam chowder and grilled cheese sandwich at their restaurant Marketplace Cafe and it was so good. I ordered the french onion soup that was served inside a real onion on top of rock salt. The presentation was super cute and the soup was really good too. Breakfast at every Embassy is great, it's one of the reasons we always choose to stay Embassy. You can wake up, go downstairs eat breakfast and go back up to your room and get ready.
We also enjoyed the heated indoor swimming pool, though it is kind of small. I would definitely stay here again because of the location. Joe's Crab Shack is literally across the street!

I made the mistake of booking a boardroom meeting space for our executive team building camp at this ES. I had been to this particular ES on several occasions for cocktails, and various events and it always seemed okay.
Prior to the event, I toured the facility and gave very concise direction to the catering staff as to our needs and requirements. We looked to be on track and they had even allowed us to negotiate a reduced parking fee for our team members (8x$25.00 x 2 = $400.00 in parking alone otherwise).
What we got: Two days trapped in a dank boardroom with the loudest air conditioning unit ever. It was so bad, we seriously couldn't concentrate. When requesting assistance in repairing the unit or moving us, we were basically told there was nothng they could do for us. Each day our food orders were completely wrong, and when they did come to correct the issue, the staff was loud, disruptive and rude.
The speaker blasting elevator music just outside of the meeting room's door was so loud I felt like the ghost of Lawrence Welk was haunting the room, and of course, let's not forget the 2 HOURS it took our group of 8 served lunch in the cafe (we were literally the only folks in the place). Then the server actually had the nerve to approach me and complain about her reduced tip.
Additionally, they charged us $25.00 per car even though we'd contracted for $12.00...and the final capper. We were over-charged $237.00 for food we never recieved, when I had been assured they would actually be volunteering a reduction of $400.00 for all the trouble we'd been put through. For weeks after the fact, I couldn't get the catering manager or general manager to follow-up on their promises to correct the billing. Thank God we charged it on the Corp. Card; I had to disput it with our card company.
Avoid this place like the plague for any special events you may have in mind. There are far too many business' who will treat their customers with respect and professional curtesy.

Always stay here when I'm in Sacramento as it's close to where I work downtown and within walking distance of most area venues, including Old Sacramento. I usually like to go out to eat but if I'm feeling lazy room service is always consistently good. Breakfast is also good. Parking can be a problem if you choose not to valet as it's a bit confusing. Fear not as there's parking garage across the street.
I am staying here now after checking out from a hideous mid town motel. ES is like Shangri La after my recent lodging woes.
Nice room with two beds seperated from a living room. 2 42" plasmas. Free breakfast 6-9AM in the lobby area included a full breakfast.
My complaints here are pretty relevant. Parking is Valet only $25.00 day. I have guests coming to see me and I cannot ask them to pay $25.00 and there is almost no other parking nearby.
My room is over a freeway and I swear to god I dreamed of driving trucks all night long. IT IS LOUD!
Hotels should provide white noise machines in every room.

Its an Embassy Suites what you expect?
Free drinks at the managers reception (make sure you get there before 7:30pm) all drinks are free.
Nice cook to order breakfast (Before 10am)
Clean rooms (the staff has a tendency to not clean your room if you are there while they knock) make sure you ask them to clean to room.
What is not expected is the $25 per night for parking! what a ripoff.
Maybe I just needed a night away but this place rocked. I had a suite - was supposed to share with a friend for a concert but she couldn't go so I went on my own.
Imagine a suite! Like a a mini-apartment, beds, tv, frig, and so on. I could have found a cheaper place closer but why ...
Some things they could improve - charging $9.95 for wifi in the room - it should be free. $25 valet parking - could be less.
Room service was great too.
Would stay again for sure. Everyone was SUPER friendly or maybe I was just happy? I liked all the people I encountered who worked there - but I'm not that demanding.
Did get the shuttle to the Arco Arena as well - sweet! ROCK ON NIN!

This is NOT a great place to have your wedding reception or company party. The ballrooms are cramped and claustrophobic. Sound insulation is non-existent, and the hotel guests complain about the noise so they will make you turn down the volume, ruining your party!
On the night of December 6, 2008--- some genius had booked California International Marathon runners in the Hotel Rooms directly above the ballroom where a Holiday Party for "WalkerComm" was taking place. Even though a very small DJ system was being used (two small speakers and a tiny sub-woofer), the Hotel Staff said they were getting complaints.
This is one banquet facility you want to avoid, unless you enjoy mediocre "hotel rubber chicken" and want to have your party end early because they won't let your guests dance and have a good time!

We stayed here on our wedding night and they treated us very very well. Since we walked in wearing our wedding attire, they immediately upgraded us to a corner suite (the most expensive room). All of the staff that we encountered (valets, bellhops, front desk, manager, room service) were very friendly and personable. We would definitely come back here!!!
It snowed a bit in the sierra on friday and I decided that rather then taking a chance driving in yuck weather, why not get a room at Embassy in Sac?
I phoned up around 830am and got a room reserved. I was going to be picking up my 2 year old son in Stockton and wanted to check in early. They were very accommodating and I appreciated that.
it isn't the Burlingame location, but I do love Embassy suites. This one was situated in downtown Sacramento. Which was convenient.
The guy who helped me with our luggage was very friendly, and the staff who checked me in were nice also.
The room was clean and roomy, but unfortunately I ended up with a view of I-5. (I will make it a point to request a non freeway room next time) It wasn't noisy really, until I was trying to go to sleep, then I had to let the sound of passing motorists lull me to sleep.
The food was decent. A little pricey, but that's to be expected in a hotel. The managers reception hosted nice snacks (veggies w/ ranch, chips and salsa and various other goodies) My rum and cokes were tasty...although, I almost always appreciate a free beverage.
valet parking is pricey, at 25.00 per day. You could park in the self parking lot across for 24.00, but that doesnt make much sense...
I would stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights while on business and was pretty impressed. The rooms are very spacious, new, clean, mini fridge, microwave, almost everything you'd want in a hotel room. They also give you free made-to-order breakfast each morning in the downstairs restaurant.
Of course, the room service is way overpriced, but that's pretty normal. I ordered the onion soup (for like $8 plus $5 service fee and 19% gratuity) and they sent me a giant onion that was hallowed out (kind of like a bread bowl, but with a big onion), full of delicious onion soup and croutons, covered with baked-on cheese, and served on a dinner-sized plate on top of about half an inch of rock salt. (like the "sprinkle on my frozen sidewalk to melt the ice and snow rock salt, pretty, but rock salt) So, of course, I ate the soup and the cheese that hadn't bonded to the rock salt and they threw away everything else. If I ever go back, I'll ask for just the soup in a regular bowl, save the waste and don't contaminate my cheese with so much salt.
But other than the weird soup, this place was great. I think we paid a prepay rate of about $209 per night. They have a shuttle that picked us up from the airport, took us to our meetings and picked us up each day, and took us back to the airport. Since my flight wasn't until late, it was easy to check out, store my luggage with them, do my day's work, and then take the shuttle in the evening. They even gave me a card key so I could use the business center after I had technically checked out but was hanging around until later.
Bottom line: If I ever have to go back to Sacramento, I'll stay here.
Got a free river-view upgrade, drinks at the bar were alright, and the room was spotless and comfy. Some of the employees, such as the bartender and the manager, were really helpful and their customer service skills were fantastic. Others, such as the check-in desk guys, were not so friendly.
We're definately coming back!

You know what was surprisingly good about this hotel? The food of all things! When traveling for work, I tend not to expect anything special from room service and just go out if I want a nice meal. However, when staying in Sac this week for work, I uncharacteristically wanted to just hibernate in my suite with some room service and a movie. I had a wonderful, fresh spinach salad with goat cheese and a salmon entree with awesome veggies, which was actually served warm. Paying for typical overpriced room service doesn't hurt as bad when the food is this good!
Complimentary breakfast in the cafe (not the same chef as the bistro/room service) was generic but extensive--made to order omelets, and my favorite, oatmeal.
The gym was small but decent, with an adjacent pool and hot tub. The staff were all very courteous. You can send me to meetings in Sacramento any old time now that I know where to stay!

I had to stay hear overnight earlier this year and I felt so underdressed when I walked in with my jeans.
Room was very nice with a view of the riverwalk. Too bad it was a short visit. Room was separate from the living room area, a feature I always like.
Their pool must be a well guarded secret (LOL) because all of the windows were frosted and you couldn't look in. Good thing for the guests I guess (who wants to feel like they're in an aquarium).
Lobby was huge and very nice looking. Staff was friendly.
Would like to stay here again, but not as close as a Hampton that's near one of our locations.
BTW: Use their valet parking. The public parking lot is across the street, but it's rumored to be a little unsafe.
Embassy Suites is Embassy Suites. The room was very big- 2 double sized beds and a separate room with a pullout couch. Nothing fancy but very accomodating and comfortable.
Was here for a financial planning training conference. Embassy Suites provides a variety of board rooms ranging from rooms that fit 12-100+ people conference style. We used 4 rooms for all of our training segments. A/V was decent and the staff was helpful. Food was mediocre. I will best describe the meals as budget meals for a business budget. We were able to eat out in the atrium which was a nice and sunny break from being cooped up in the conference rooms. Breakfast was delicious with pancakes and bacon hot off of the grill and in the afternoon drinks and snacks are available in bistro area.
The nice thing about this Embassy Suites location is that it is in walking distance to Old Sacramento. For people who are not familiar with the area, its a nice little treat to experience what the old west was like sans cowboys and guns. The dust is still here though and for locals it is a tad bit overrated, but for a business trip when all you get is an hour break, that's about all you need in Old Sacramento before you want dinner and to retire in your hotel room.

It's an Embassy Suites, folks. Not the St. Regis. So it is what it is - good sized rooms with vanilla decor. I like the location for its walking proximity to Old Sac and the minutes drive from Downtown. I guess the freeway facing rooms could be a noise issue, but hey - the more you know. Just request a room not on that side. (Luckily my room was facing the water.)
The concierge was helpful in finding a couple of establishments for me: balloons and a cake for a birthday. Valet service was very prompt. I didn't partake in the breakfast buffet but it's a standard Embassy touch. Also, I had called from the airport to see if my room was ready and it wasn't. By the time I arrived 20 minutes later, they made sure to have a room available - 5 hours before check-in. Nice!
If you don't want to splurge on a spacious room with a good location, I'd go with Embassy Suites.

I think this hotel has a good location and the property appears to be pretty new. However, the front end staff and the hotel manager leave a lot to be desired. I hosted a party here Sat night for 35 people that was a great success. However, several guest had problems with their rooms and with parking. I understand that it is the holiday time and the hotel was full, but I do not understand the women at the front desk yelling at me to use the self check-in machine. I also had problems the next day trying to get our car from the valet. Perhaps they need to work on their customer service skills?

For the price, location and services offered this place is easily a 5 stars. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed linings are comfortable as well as the mattress. The bathrooms are big and the tub is well sized too. Because there rooms are suites they have a living room portion and sleeping area. Both have TVs. The hallway between the rooms has a wet bar area including a refrigerator and a door leading to the bathroom. I have stayed here many times with my partner and we both enjoyed it very much. The hotel is quite and as with all Embassy Suites it has an expansive atrium off the lobby. There is also a workout area and pool/ spa. Every room includes complementary full bar happy hour beginning at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and full American breakfast until 10:00 am (verify times when you arrive). USA Today is also delivered each morning to your door. No matter what side you are located on you will have a nice view of the Sacramento Skyline or Sacramento River.
The location is prefect adjacent to Old Sacramento along the river front. The River Front Promenade is a nice place to take a stole and read about some Sacramento history and get a great view of the Tower Bridge. You can also walk down the docks to the water's edge. The Promenade leads over to the Crocker Art Gallery at one end and Old Sacramento at the other. Downtown is a short walk away either through Old Sac on K Street or over the freeway via Capitol Mall. If you like Baseball the River Cats ballpark is within walking distance and on game day there is a free River Cats shuttle for ticket holders across the street from the main hotel entrance. I would stay here over the Sheraton Grand or the Hyatt Regency any day (unless you need direct access to the convention center). My rating is hands down 5 stars.
The night staff at the front desk sucks a$%#@$@#$!
A couple of weeks ago, my best friend was married. The happy couple had reserved a block of rooms through the Embassy Suites online system. AND the groom's father had set up the rehearsal dinner (for ~50) at the hotel as well. The night before the wedding, one of the rooms reserved within the block, was to be used by the bride and her bridesmaids. The plan was to get ready together the next morning.
Fast forward to 1AM the night/morning before the wedding. I'm at the Embassy Suites front desk to pay for the valet parking. I was part of the bridal party spending the night in the aforementioned room, but I also volunteered to drive some out-of-towners back to where they were staying. I'm standing behind a couple who had placed their reservations 3 months prior, had called to confirm that they would be checking in late due to a late flight arrival and were now being told that their reservations "weren't in the system". They were also told, "Several of our guests have decided to extend their stay, so we are out of rooms!" The attitude and tone of the staff helping them was along the lines of "oh well", or better yet, "sucks to be you". The couple are furious, and go back and forth with the manager helping them. In the meantime, I'm waiting to pay for the valet parking. A couple of other people at the front desk look at me, but then look away; apparently too busy to help a customer waiting in line. I finally catch the eye of the manager helping the hotel-less couple, and he asks one of his cohorts to help me. I pay up, but the last thing I hear from the gentleman trying to check in is, "Someone is going to get fired over this".
About 30-40 minutes later, I come back to the Embassy Suites to quietly sneak into the room where all the other bridesmaids are - but the key isn't working. I try several times, but no go. I go to the front desk, and explain that I'm the Maid of Honor in my friend's wedding, the name the block of rooms is under, and ask to confirm if I have the right room. It's way too late to call random rooms or knock on doors. I tell them the room number I was told to go to, 616. The woman at the front desk looks it up in their "system" and tells me, "It's definitely not room 616. Go try 615." This was in the same, "Oh well" tone that the couple just an hour ago received. I go back up to the 6th floor, dragging all my bags with me, and no go. I went through every room on the 6th floor - and I couldn't open a single door. I go back to the front desk, and explain what had just happened. The same woman, just looks at me blankly. No response. No sympathy. She didn't even bother to pretend to care. No customer service. I finally forget it and ended up spending the night at the groom's house. (Good thing I had a key to their house.)
6AM the next morning the bride calls the house looking for her Maid of Honor. Turns out - they were in room 616 the whole time. And they were all having problems with their keys. (I know, I shoulda knocked!)
Fast forward to the night after the wedding. I was lucky enough to be able to stay in room 616 (armed with a key that worked this time!) and the happy couple had reserved a honeymoon suite. Earlier that day, the groom called to confirm the reservation and that they would be checking in late. I bring the bride and groom back to Embassy Suites and guess what? Their reservation is not "in the system" and there are no open suites for them. It was deja vu - same thing that happened to that poor couple the night before. The most the hotel offered to do was to call a cab for them to gamble their luck at another hotel. The same attitude and tone as the night before - "sucks to be you". Thankfully, room 616 was still reserved under the wedding block and we had a key that worked. Unfortunately, the bride and groom had to spend their wedding night in that room with me!
Oh, and did I mention, as the groom was trying to sort out the missing honeymoon suite reservation, there were some other bridesmaids from another wedding party whose reservations also went "missing" and weren't in the system. They received the same rude, unsympathetic, ghastly treatment.
Just one more thing, the poor couple who had a late night check in while I was waiting to pay for the valet - turned out it was the groom's aunt and uncle. They didn't reserve a room within the block, but it figures.
All that said, I heard that the day staff was very nice and helpful. The single star is for them, and them alone.

Great location, right off I5 and if you are coming from the Bay Area, off of I80, it is literally right in front of you as soon as you get off the bridge on Capitol Mall. We had a huge family reunion here right before NYE and the food I would say was pretty good. My husband said the steak was awesome, I on the other hand enjoyed the grilled chicken. The staff were very accomodating and although our crowd were getting rowdy later on, the security folks were very nice and courteous in letting us know. The rooms are nice and clean - it seems pretty new. Ours overlooked 15 and the Sacramento River. But the rooms get pretty stuffy --- even if you turn down the thermostat and opening the windows - you are better off shutting the heater off! The continental breakfast was pretty lame, though. The buffet tables were pretty small so if you ever get stuck with the rest of the crowd, your food will be cold.
UPDATE: I thought I lost my makeup bag at the hotel so I called and spoke to housekeeping....well, I was placed on the speakerphone and several times, it seemed like the line would be dead so I would say "Hello?' and the manager would snap at me saying, "I'm still here, hon." And she was quick to say, "I have not seen it" then cut herself short to say "Oh wait let me check on one thing..." So I just deducted one star from a four to a three....
Overall, for a gathering, the dinner, the halls and the room - they are great! 4 stars
For staff (except for valet and security) and the continental breakfast --- ehhh!

Definitely ask for a room away from I-5! I couldn't believe how loud our room overlooking the freeway was, and I usually can sleep through all kinds of road noise.

The quest ion here is when do I not have a great time at the Embassy Suites. The front desk agents were extremely nice to me, they even mentioned I had a cute last name cuz it means Flowers in English!
The room were exceptionally clean, and the view of the Sacramento River , and that building in the shape of a Pyramid were priceless.
I was up real late with a couple of friends and no one complained, I guess it pays to be part of the Hilton HHonors program and they can put you in a room with no neighbors.
Now for the bad:
1. Hotel parking is $18.00, valet parking per night, with all the in and out privileges you want.
2. The draw bridges and the sirens that start up every time a large boat passes by. ( I only heard it twice during my whole stay)
3. The steam powered tourist train that passed by, personally I didn't mind it because every time it passed by I had my head pressed against the window looking at it in awe.

Our family has stayed here twice and love it. The rooms are always clean and we enjoy the extra space. It has a very family friendly environment. Guests are treated to a manager's reception each night in the Bistro, where they serve light snacks with complimentary wine, beer and soda. It's a great place to relax before heading out to Old Sac for dinner- which is just a short walk across the street. Their indoor pool and hot tub is open late- til 11PM so even if you choose not to venture out, there is plenty for the kids to do. Cook to order omelets and buffet breakfast is served each morning- so very easy for Mom & Dad!
