I stayed here in a mini suite last week. I lucked out and got the fold out bed in the front room (lucked out because my Dad was snoring away all night every night in the other room) which was actually very comfortable. At first, I was totally against that fold out bed but after the first night I was won over. Embassy Suites also has the super comfy pillows that I love, not too soft and not too hard.
There was a free happy hour every night and free breakfast every morning. The happy hour was great, complete with popcorn and cheese and other goodies. The daily breakfast was pretty amazing, with a full omlette bar! And GOOD bacon, not the crappy Vegas buffet dried out bacon, tasty and perfectly done.
The view of NJ across the Hudson was gorgeous from the huge 15-story window. We got in pretty late the first night there and there were a couple of chain restaurants located in the same building that were still open so that was nice as a back up. I'd stay here again.

Free made-to-order breakfast every morning and free open bar and appetizers every night... enough said!

Ok, ok.. more details if you must :)

My sister, her hubby and I stayed here over Memorial Day back in May. So the fact that I'm writing a review now should say a lot, lol!

The hotel is great, very clean with a super friendly staff. We were only there for one night, so I don't have too many stories to tell. But we were greeted by a staff member at our room door on the 11th floor with bottled water and a welcome note and snacks. We asked one of the doormen about parking recommendations because my Mother was driving in the next morning to pick us up when we checked out, but wanted to come a few hours early to hang out in the city (we were spending the rest of the trip in Queens, so can't blame her) and he told us he would let her park in front of the hotel for a few hours so we could avoid the crazy parking fee.. think it was somewhere near $60 per night, no in and out. So of course we took care of him and that worked out really well :)

Room was super spacious, and thank goodness because with the 3 of us it was perfect as my sis and her hubby got the bedroom -- which has an actual door that closes and everything!!! -- and I got the living room with the pull out sofa. There's a flat screen in both areas, a nice sized mini bar area with sink, bathroom was more on the ok side, but really the room was much bigger than we imagined so no complaints honestly. You could easily have 10 people in here comfortably enough, as we did before we went out for the night, and it was great!

Location is not ideal if you are a first time visitor or if you really want to be closer to all the "action" so to speak. It's the Financial District, which on the weekends and holidays is fairly deserted, by NYC standards. Subway is not super close, but doorman was always quick to get us a cab, so it really wasn't a problem for us.

New York Sports Club!!! Loved it, and it was included in the rate. I cannot stand when hotels try to charge extra to use the gym.. such bullshit) and for this kind of gym they could easily get away with it! We were hungover and past our check out time, but we made sure we got a work out in before we left.. take advantage people!

OH! And there is a movie theatre and a huge DSW Shoe store inside the hotel!! I actually wish we had stayed longer just for those reasons, lol!

I definitely recommend this hotel, it's worth the price and worth the more relaxing vibe it gives you in comparison to staying in other parts of the city. Just cab it into the hot spots, it'll be worth it!

We got an embarrassingly good deal around memorial day weekend, and to top it off our runty little bodies were even upgraded into one of the corner King Executive suites, where so much square footage was wasted on us, that we could make carpet angels, no two alike, every hour on the hour. It even had a conference table and a dedicated AV team should we get the urge to propound power point of the microsoftian variety at a moment's whim.

The free breakfast with made to order omlettes aswum in ladles of oil, and pancakes as corrugated as they were fluffy, orange juice hardly not from concentrated, and a decent cup of coffee, et al. The free happy hour, was actually two, where we immediately honed in on grand sauza doused tequila sunrises as "our drink".

Such as we were spoiled by all this, hoofing it to the nearest subway took a bit longer, and the subway lines (particularly with the downtown F putting on the fritz during the weekend) led to minor bouts of discombobulation. Getting to the more quintessential city spots was a bit more difficult from this part of town, but with such digs, overall this was dugworthy. Service was spot on.

It's your basic Embassy Suites with the 2 room approach.  Works out well, although the bedroom portion is small when you cram 2 beds in there.  And PS:  why were we not given a King?  The bathroom is very worn, that's why I didn't give it 4 stars.  Combine that with the fact it is in the middle of nowhere due to construction work at WTC.  Subway service is non-existent unless you walk about 15-20 minutes.

Very nice hotel.  Unfortunately, the construction around the area made it a pain to get a cab to pick you up or drop you off.  The congestion because of the detours they had to take definitely upped the cab fare.  When we checked out on Sun, it was raining and we had to walk 2 blocks to catch a cab because they wouldn't come to the hotel.  Also, there was some sort of race going on that weekend which amounted to a very loud band waking us up at 8 am because our room overlooked the street.  Again, it was a very nice establishment but consider a different location if you want to get around easier and quicker.

This is an extremely nice hotel.  On it's own merit it's a four or five star hotel.  It's in lower Manhattan so you would think it would be well located.  Well... this hotel is located on the Battery Park landfill that they made from the dirt that they excavated from building the World Trade Center.  It's not even close to the subway.  So unless your business is in the Mercantile Exchange, American Express or Merril Lynch it'll be a hike ANYWHERE!  In fact this was my only trip to NYC that I didn't use the subway.

great hotel...my stay was very pleasant... located next to the hudson river, so its great place to do your run/jog/walk in the morning... the staff was extremely nice, the rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was better then what you would get at Denny's... my only complaints was the availabilities of taxi's around the area late at night and my walks to the chamber street station..

Highly recconmended for the family or business traveler!!!! I would give it 4.5 stars!

Very chic, great location- close to all the downtown attractions (empire state, battery park, NYU, Little Italy etc).

Comes with free breakfast AND cocktail hour!!! Total DEAL!!
Huge hotel- big atrium, has a sports club key, great views of Hoboken and the ocean. Nice and peaceful locale for NYC. Clean, friendly, tourists were from all over the world. Spacious suites!

...the travel bug that i am, i have my fav spots to crash... usually being the hyatt...

....embassy suites lives up to the feeling of royalty...
the staff was exceptionally friendly and always greeting or helping out with out a stink ass shit face.. i guess you can call it genuine service...

we booked through hot wire so our rate was cheap... 2 full beds, a living room with a fold out couch and a wet bar...located a couple blocks from the chambers st station and a couple blocks from the WTC area, if you can get a room on the top floors, the views are amazing...

after walking all around NY, switching from multiple subways, and cab'n it.. the embassy suites is a great final destination to kick yer shoes off and relax....

...they also have room service that delivers 6packs of beer...for a hefty price of course..

...SHUT THA LIGHTS!!!...

The hotel amenities are on par for most embassy suites.  There's a full complimentary breakfast every morning with many many options, a free cocktail hour :), and so on...  The room was great, considering we didn't spend the majority of our time in it, I don't have much to say about it but certainly I have no complaints at all!  Also, the price is right, especially by NYC standards.

There's a theatre and a shoe store in the same building which made me happy!  The views of the river and jersey were amazing.  And the concierge was pretty helpful.

As far as location goes, it's walking distance to soho, little italy, battery park.  The nearest subway is a little ways away and it may take you a little while longer to get anywhere else in town.  The Irish hunger memorial across the street instantly endeared this locale to me.. I'm Irish ;).

But really, there's basically nothing going on down here after all the suits go home after happy hour...  so if you're looking for a nightlife, or even a nice little cafe or restaurant grab a cab to another part of the city or walk but I guess that all depends on the weather.

Stayed for 4 nights, loved it. Quiet, comfy, excellent location. Gotta love free breakfast -- not bad. Love the Sol LeWit mural in the atrium -- we had a view of it from our room.

My only complaint was the beds were a bit saggy and my bed hurt. I was traveling with my spouse, and we asked for an upgrade to a queen or king, and were not given it. 2 double beds is a little uncomfortable for a couple.

My family and I spent a couple nights here.  The hotel is very nice (esp. when you get upgraded to a suite w/a Statue of Liberty view).  The accommodations are quality and the staff here is very friendly.  Depending on when you're in town, you can get a lot of room for the money here.

If you're taking breakfast at the hotel, which is very good BTW, scout the buffet and split-up.  You'll avoid standing on line forever.

The hotel has a movie theater attached if you want to stay in.  We are seldom in the room when we're in NYC so that didn't really matter to us.

The location here is not ideal, but you are close to the Red Line, which we used quite a bit to head uptown.  A reasonable walk will get you to WTC site, Tribeca, Civic Center, Little Italy, Five Points, Chinatown, Soho and the Brooklyn Bridge.

A very good 2 room hotel room in NYC for less than $200, wow! I almost don't want to write this review as the prices will go up!

It's a little out of the way, and I wouldn't stay here in the winter as the area is too exposed and windy. But, when I stayed here in late spring, it was a good location for exploring downtown, and for walking along the attractive Battery Park waterfront.

Cab rides to mid-town are about $12, subway is 7 minutes walk, buses uptown go right past the hotel; so it's easy to get out of here. Albeit, at rush hour you might not find any cabs outside the hotel, just walk over to the West Side Hwy and flag one down there. If you need supplies, there's a Duane Ready nearby (exit the hotel and head left about 1.5 blocks).

They include a free breakie buffet, which I never tried (NYC deserves late nighs and sleeping in!). In the evening there's a manager's reception w/ 2 free drinks, which is good if your stuck there with kids, but otherwise it's a bit lame. There's also a cinema, Applebees restaurant, some bar, a sushi restaurant, and a DSW shoe store in the same building. If you get stuck here on a bad night or don't feel like moving far, there's still something to do.

If you here in the good weather, walk over to the water and head left you'll discover a few outdoor restaurants.

4 stars just because it's not a 5 star place, staff are friendly, rooms are decent (walls might be a bit thin, but the German neighbours didn't bother me). I'd stay here again, especially in the summer as you'll get a nice cool breeze off the water. I'd stay here again.

I stayed her for a friends b'day, and i was pretty sweet! The room was clean nice, and the pull out sofa was comfy!

Also they was like a bar, within the hotel that had a great happy hour and free nachos and popcorn.

In the moring there is a free breakfast buffet, it was really good, u would think it would just be muffins and crap, but there were eggs, bacon, pancakes, and muffins and other crap lol.

I love this place, one becasue it was pretty, two because i didn't pay for it. You do get  a lot of bang for you buck, but  its a LOT of buck.
Also there is nothing down here, and no public transportation stops, so you'll have to cab it.

The Embassy Suites is a comfortable but not inexpensive ($479+ / night) place for longer stays.  I just wish it was closer to the parts of Manhattan that I regularly visit.  Or that more conferences would be held at Bridgewaters, so I would have more occasion to stay here.

2 good things and one somewhat annoying thing:

- Huge rooms.  The two-room suites have a lot of room and a homey layout.  Feels a little bit more like an apartment than a hotel room.

- Excellent gym.  Free access included with your stay.  Facility is large with a plenty of free weights and cardio equipment.

- Mini-bar with weight sensors.  First, this is annoying because you can't use it as a fridge by swapping some of their stuff out and stocking it with your own stuff.  But what's worse is the calibration on these things can be squirrelly.  I was doubled charged for some cashews, but caught it at check out.  If you do use the mini-bar, keep track of what you take and scan your bill so you don't get randomly dinged above and beyond.

Star scoring scale:

5 = Spectacular
4 = Better than average, really enjoyed it
3 = Average, don't regret it
2 = Disappointing
1 = Abysmal

The good and bad of being in an out-of-the-way location:

Bad
- it's a freakin' hike to Wall Street if you're in town on business
- not much in the immediate vicinity in terms of eating/drinking
- not very close to subway/buses/Path train

Good
- it's quiet!
- proximity to Hudson River park
- the sidewalks are vacant by Manhattan standards
- fairly short walk to Tribeca (lots of restaurants and bars)

The hotel is built into a facility that could be a blimp hanger - a vast open space, which the hotel's design exploits nicely. The place feels airy and spacious. The rooms are large too, and if you're lucky you'll get a nice view of the Hudson and Jersey City on the other side (especially spectacular at night).

Just wish they had a nice bar on the premises (and, that grimy Chevvy's around the corner isn't what I'm talking about).

Now this is a classy hotel.  Huge, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, a huge bathroom, and separate living room with a couch and dining table.  The place was set up very cozy and home like -- art on the walls, relaxing colors, etc.

There are several perks -- the 'Managers Reception' (free drinks) from 5-7 nightly, an amazing breakfast buffet with food cooked to order in the morning, as well as a nice hotel style gym.

The service was phenomenal.  One time, the hotel lost some forms I had faxed down.  No problem.  Or the minibar charge that 'magically' appeared on my bill.  Wiped, with no problem.

Ask for a harborview room -- they are relaxing, plus farthest away from the construction (very close proximity to Ground Zero).

The only thing that's going to keep me from coming back is the cost.  I was here on company tab, and the room was running $500 per night plus taxes.  Definitely out of my range, but if I could, I would.

Stayed here several times for business as it's adjacent to the World Financial Center, but would otherwise lodge elsewhere to really explore New York from a more central location.  Yeah, a couple busses go by the hotel, but the subways are a bit of a hike (by Manhattan standards) in cold or hot weather. Clientele is primarily the WFC business customer and families with kids looking to hit the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Wall St, etc.

Service is uniformly courteous and housekeeping's top notch , although it seems we've had more than our share of mixups with the front desk (ie roomkeys not activated, wrong amenity packages, check in/check out time misunderstandings) over the past decade - nothing major, just a fairly steady stream of minor annoyances at upwards of $400 a night.  New condos sprouting to the west and the Shearson tower to the east have made finding a room with any kind of a view much more difficult.

The complimentary breakfast buffet, featuring excellent made to order omelets,  can easily fuel most guests thru til dinner and is a nice perk - however it's kind of a zoo after 7:30AM.  You'll get a seat, but it's the antithesis of relaxing and can be a bit of an issue if you're pressed for time.

The second floor "business center" features half a dozen monitors for internet access, but the printer was broken during the entirety of our recent 4 day stay. The lobby spans two floors and is contemporary and attractive and has plenty of diverse seating options.

Either the soundproofing or wall thickness is inadequate. I recently called security to have a neighbor turn down the volume on their TV because my wife couldnt sleep. At first we thought it was the TV in our own suite, but it was next door. It's not the neighbor's fault - they werent having a wild party or anything - he could've just as easily "reported" us the following night. Just poor construction, I guess.

Finally, if Ground Zero depresses you or creeps you out, bear in mind that walking to the subway lines pretty much requires extended strolls past the site.

Some Pros:

Right across the street, between the skyscrapers, is the peculiar Irish Famine park - not something you see every day and worth a quick visit. Farther west is a grassy pocket park for kids with gorgeous riverside views.  One can follow the esplanade south to the tip of the island on your way to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, etc - a lovely walk in nice weather.

In addition to the AMC Theatre and Applebees, the property houses a  pizzeria, Chevy's (ugh), Bagel shop and Lillis, a noodle/sushi place that is expensive but quite good. The shrimp and broccoli I took back to my room was pricey ($15), but boy, it was perfectly cooked and really hit the spot after a long day. There's also a host of lunch spots within the WFC - chains mostly, but bustling, upscale and fun.

I really enjoyed our stay here - the rooms were roomy and they offered free breakfast (hot! not just continental) and free happy hour drinks.  The area was a bit of a trek from most Manhattan action, but it was nice to be in such a peaceful area on the water.  Perfect hotel for families, not so great for party-goers.

My stay was very comfortable.  My only complaint is the front desk lady.  I have never had to wait long to check in early at a hotel.  The front desk person announced that I purchased through priceline and told me that she would call us when a room was available.  She never called us.  After a couple of hours of waiting, I walked up to the young man instead at the front counter and he was happy to help us and got us situated right away.  He did not mention anything about priceline.  The room was really comfortable with the sitting area.  Everything was clean and really spacious.  The hotel is a great location for the view off Battery Park, but is not centrally located for the subway stops.  We ended up catching the cab a lot.  Another plus is that they have a complimentary breakfast buffet.  I highly recommend this hotel for families.

Nice hotel. Comfortable beds. Free breakfast-and I mean FREE. The breakfast options are great as well-fruit, omelettes, (made before your eyes), pancakes, eggs, fruit juices, cereals, pastries. It is walking distance to a subway station and you can walk along NY's waterfront with a great view of Jersey City, NJ. Clean, well kept. The only con was laundry service which basically consists of you vying against the rest of the hotel for one washer and one dryer. Be prepared if you need to use the washer and dryer to stake out the laundry room and guard your clothes with your life. That's the only bad thing I can think of.

This place is not too bad! We got a 2 bedroom suite that fit 5 gals! It was very spacious and comfortable - not bad for the price. They also have free breakfast every morning and also free happy hour! good deal! My only complaint is that that the concierge gave us a terrible spa recommendation. My girlfriend and I had just ran the NYC marathon and we were soooo looking forward to a massage. When we got off the subway and we walked to our destination, I noticed the area just seemed to get sketchier! When we finally got there, the sign said "Russian-American" spa - it kind of reminded me of one those spas where you get a little more for your money and a skeevy way - EWWW! The place was dirty too. We had to walk down some stairs and in the spa there was a pool table room. I haven never seen that before at a spa. When the guy told us he only has male massage therapists, we left. Don't ask for recommendations at the hotel! You never know where you will end up!
