Go to the Embassy Suites - 12520 Westport Parkway La Vista, Nebraska

The Omaha suites were fuly booked so we went to the nearest Embassy Suits available - La Vista.  Its about 10 mile away but new and the service/staff are great.  We missed breakfast after the alarm clock time was an hour slow, but the chef was still there and made up some omelets for us.  We had to check out so the front office staff also put together fruit cups and snacks to finish eating on the road.

Excellent & fully recommended.

Lobby is nice--fountains with streams that have real fish (some of the fish are huge!).

The primary reason for staying here is location. It is right across the street from the Old Market area. It's probably the only one of the nicer hotels in the downtown area that is within an easy, safe walking distance. Maybe it's fine walking to/from the other hotels but since I don't know the city at all, I wouldn't want to be walking alone at night for more than 5-10 mins.

My only major complaint about the hotel is that the furnishings are a bit dated. The tables/chairs, couches, cabinets and TVs could use a refresh. Also, it kinda sucks that you have to pay for parking and wifi. I could understand having to pay for parking in the downtown area of a major city. But downtown Omaha is basically a ghost town and land must be dirt cheap around here; I shouldn't have to pay for parking.

Very nice lobby.  Friendly service.  Most of what you'd expect from a Hilton brand: shuttle to the Omaha airport, 2 free drinks at happy hour, great lobby (with waterfalls and a small stream).

The downside: $10/day for wireless internet access in your room?! Where's the love?  When did it become cool to charge for WiFi?

The happy hour bar is pretty stale: they have exactly 8 bottles of well liquor and maybe 2 beers on tap.  Not exactly a cool place to hang out: it's just a counter where the bar keep pours up your drinks.
