8 reviews for Embassy Suites Hotel
I was here perhaps 3 or 4 years ago. Then again after the New Year.
Both times it was pleasant, and i was not there because of a missed flight or anything of that nature. We had a cruise going out, so we flew into LAX and stayed here till we could board the next morning.
The lobby, rooms, and dining facilities were very clean and well kept.
There's free alcohol at happy hour, just show a room key. (too bad i don't drink)
There were some annoying kids there for the rose bowl, but no fault of the hotel.
Free continental breakfast in the morning, same deal, show a room key.
It was a brief stay, but all-in-all, it's been great. The planes aren't very loud after 10ish, view is pretty nice, they're prompt when you call for service, and are very warming.
We'll be back.
I get to come work here now and again. It's boring, bland and gray.
There's nothing great about it. Which is why I was a bit dumbfounded to hear the State of Hawaii education board was having a huge meeting there. Shouldn't they be meeting in, oooh, let me think. . . Hawaii? Huh? And, I mean, if you're like, traveling to the mainland to meet, couldnt you find a better place? Talk about being stupid!
If I lived on the islands I would be very pissed off about my state picking this dump to waste my tax dollars. I mean, did you run out of funds and just the first hotel from the airport?
Anyways, other than that - the restaurant sucks (but that's another review).
The parking is cramped, the bar is ok, the internet 12.95 per night, and the free breakfast is ok. The rooms are pretty nice and spacious, but they have a funky frosted window that lets in the noise but you can't see outside through, and you can't open it, so it's sort of wonky.
Unfortunately I sort of have to work here on occasion, so I won't say more - except: don't pay the full price! go on hotwire or something - $190 for this place is a rip off!

I've always liked Embassy suites because of the happy hour (free drinks) and the free breakfast. But I don't think I've ever seen a line longer for the free breakfast in my whole life of staying at Embassy Suites. And if you park your car in the hotel garage, you pay $21/night....so the whole sidewalk across the street was full of cars (I was wondering that as we pulled in to check in...then I realized why). The bartenders there were soooo nice and the service overall was also good. I'm just glad we were able to get a friends & family discount cuz I wouldn't pay more than $79/night to stay here.

Let's be honest; if you're staying here, it's because you either missed your connection at LAX, or you were bumped from your flight. Either way, hopefully the airline is comping you.
(Note, sometimes they'll suggest that since it's 11pm you should just stay at the airport until the 7am flight; I recommend looking very, very sad. Possibly while mentioning what a horrible birthday this was.)
Now I've stayed at the Embassy Suites under those circumstances, and it's fine; it is in no way an interesting place to stay, but it's a more than sufficient roof over your head. It's clean and decently comfortable, and for those qualities (and with those caveats) it would have gotten a 4 star review.
However. However.
There was this one time when our flight from ZLO-LAX lost an engine, and we did an emergency landing somewhere outside Puerto Vallarta. Naturally, that put us a bit late into LAX when we finally got things worked out, and we missed the connecting flight. The airline kindly put us up at the Embassy Suites; gave us vouchers and instructions on how to get there.
I was tired, and hungry, in the way that someone who's been on a plane that's emergency landed, and who has just cleared customs after midnight in Los Angeles tends to be. I wanted eggs, and toast, dammit.
So we called the hotel -- said we had a voucher, asked if we needed to check in right away, or if we could get dinner/breakfast/1amfood first. No problem, the hotel said, come over after breakfast, we'll get you all checked in.
Tragic to find out when we arrived at the hotel that in the hour and a half since we called, they'd sold out all the rooms.
Fuckers.
Furthermore, they had no suggestions about what one might do in such a situation, since our voucher was clearly marked for their hotel, and the counters at the airport were long closed.
Apatheic fuckers.
Suffice it to say, every decent hotel for miles was booked, and we wound up at a wretched wretched enormo-motel down the street. ( http://www.yelp.com/bi... )
I blame the LAX Airport Embassy suites.

Reliable shuttle service to and from LAX. If your shuttle does not come in 15mins of your arrival, call the front desk and inform them of your airline. One will be sent to you within 15mins.
The suites are large with tons of parking. A very comfortable, peaceful common area.
Capistrano's is good for lunch.

Note to self: BRING EARPLUGS!
Any hotel with a direct view of the airport is bound to be noisy; it's a given. This hotel just seems to be close enough to hear all the planes. I just so happen to get a room that faces LAX, so I could hear the take-offs, the thrust reverser, you name it. Not sure if the opposite side of the hotel gets the same amount of noise.
My company put me up in this hotel since it's really close to their headquarters. In fact it's walking distance convenient.
I must say that I was very pleased with the service, the accommodations, and the complimentary killer breakfast.
Was also disappointed that WIFI is not free. It cost $10 for 24 hours of internet service. If this is a road warrior hotel....why not offer it for free? Even some of the dive motels offer free wifi.
Other than that, very spacious rooms!

Hmmm, I really don't understand how people can complain about hearing planes at an airport hotel. I stayed here the night before an early flight to New York and was not disappointed. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. My room had a sink in the bedroom in addition to the bathroom, classy. I'm definately adding this to my pre flight agenda.

Eh.,...just ok. The people working there were nice and the service was excellent. The reason for the 3 stars was the electrical polls in the back of the hotel. LOUD buzzing all night! If you do stay here, make sure you get a room in front of the hotel.
