8 reviews for Embassy Suites Hotel
Most excellent value! The suite was spacious and the made to order breakfast was absolutely scrumptious! Refrigerator! Microwave! Second sink in the living room! TWO flat panel televisions! Balcony!
The staff is SO AWESOME! They are so friendly and bright and smiley that I felt welcome and warm inside. I visited the hotel before booking the room and was taken on the nicest tour from Nancy, who whos at the front desk. During my stay, I complained to the front desk about my ipod accidentally signing onto the wifi (which is $9.99 per night!) and got that refunded.
The manager's reception is a good idea but beware since they are free drinks they use very cheap alcohol and its bound to give you a headache, not a buzz.
A bad thing about my stay was that there was a large group of tiny tot cheerleaders who were raping all the amenities. I couldnt swim in the pool for fear of little girl urine. I had to wait while these girls ordered numerous shirley temples at the managers reception.
Hotels are my second home. I travel for work a LOT...as in, I've spent more time in hotels than in my own home in SF. If you're looking for a hotel to stay for work anywhere around the area, I'd recommend this hotel. Even if it's an extra 10-15 minute commute.
Pros:
- Huge courtyard area is pretty nice. Koi pond included. Granted, you probably only spend about 10 seconds walking by, but it's still a nice little touch. The water fountain noise helps to drown out the people noise a little.
- The upgraded rooms are nice and I don't have any complaints here.
- Free parking.
- The suite setup. Granted, it's an Embassy Suites so this is what's to be expected. But in case you aren't familiar with ES's, fridge, microwave, and sink are included in every room - so much more convenient than having to call to request from the front desk every stay like at other hotels.
- Edible options nearby. There are enough quick food options to hold me over without having to trek across town. That said, don't expect anything out of the ordinary (or really any Yelp worthy restaurants).
- CVS/Walgreens, Raphs, etc. nearby.
- Wireless internet is dependable. And I can video chat to stay in touch with friends and family. Some hotels are a bit on the sketchy side, and I've certainly been blocked by hotels (cough*Marriott*cough) for apparently using too much bandwidth. Note to other hotels: don't advertise on tv that you can video chat if you are just going to block it. Big thumbs-up from me on this.
- Free breakfast and manager's reception.
- Friendly staff.
Cons:
- When sitting in the living room area, you can still hear a good amount of noise from the lobby (even when on one of the top floors). With the suite setup though, unless you are sleeping on the pullout couch, the bedrooms are quiet.
- The manager's reception....leaves something to be desired. I'm not one to argue about free drinks, but the snacks (some paltry looking chips and salsa and popcorn) could use some improvement. Free booze though!
- Breakfast lines can get long. Perhaps that's life's way of telling me I should be heading to work earlier...

I am having a great time here this week on business, they have so many extras and the staff is always very friendly and accomadating. The made-to-order omlette I had this morning (free) helped soothe my stomach after cocktails last night (free).
My room is nice and clean, what more could you want? Actually, a bigger bathroom would be nice (the rooms are huuuge but the bathroom is tiny-what's up with that?) but other than that, beds are comfy, and the mini-fridge is useful.
As mentioned, free parking is wonderful, and it's right next to a Mimi's and across the street from a CVS pharmacy.
Would stay here again if in the area.
Big fan of the seperated living and bedroom style suites. Nice indoor atrium with a koi pond, a few turtles, and a waterfall to drown out the courtyard noise. Parking was lacking especially when getting in late. The free breakfast with cooked to order omelettes and happy hour in the late afternoon was a big plus!
These are the reason why I liked this hotel:
- The rooms are decently priced here compared to the other hotels within the LA area
- Complimentary parking - which is rare, because most places near LA charge $15-$25 a night per car for parking
- Decently convenient location: 20 mins or so away from LAX and within 20-30 mins driving distance for everything else we needed to go (Santa Monica, Hollywood, etc)
- Complimentary made to order hot breakfast: scrambled eggs, omelet, hash browns, sausage, bacon, toast, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, etc
- Indoor pool, whirlpool/hottub, and sauna
- Gym, Complimentary access to the business center
- BIG and comfortable rooms - every room is a suite - so we were able to get a sleeping spot for all 6 of us girls (2 doubles, and 1 pull out couch)
Some cons:
- Not the best area - but hey, its not like we were outside walking around - we only were there to sleep!
- The toilet had some issues - but it was a quick fix every time - all we had to do was push the pump down.
More pros than cons. For what the price was it was def. worth it. Since you are in LA - you have to drive anywhere anyways. Best part of it was that it was off either the I-5 or the 105 freeways - so you avoid the insane 405 freeway!
Embassy Suites usually is my choice of hotel because it seems to be pretty standard with the rest of the hotel chain. I stayed in one in NJ and another one in Anaheim, and they all look very similar to each other. All have a beautiful koi pond in the atrium. Service here was great - esp since we kept calling and asking for extra towels and blankets. When we asked for extra cups they brought us a whole stack of it! Overall, its not a bad hotel - and everyone was really happy.

This is one of our local hotels in Downey. It's been a great location for family members that come from out of town. The rooms are cozy and comfortable.
In the 80's this was our spot. A few years ago it was completely remodeled.
Come stay with us, please I insist !
I'm a huge Embassy Suites fan. I usually stay at this particular location a few times a year just when I want to get out of Long Beach and get some me time. Whenever I travel anywhere else, I always look to see if there is an Embassy Suites that has availability.
For those of you not in the know here is the scoop on Embassy. First as the title implies, every room is a suite. Separate living area, with a pull out sofa bed, table seating for four, bar area (my personal fave) with mini-fridge, microwave and bar sink. Perfect place to mix up a few cocktails and kick back. The beds with the exception of the pull-out are very comfortable and decent bedding.
The decor and furnishings could use an upgrade, which is why I deduct a star, but this is not the Ritz and you should know that going in.
Now the reason I love ES the most is the perks. EVERY night there is a manager's reception, with free booze and snacks. Mixed drinks, beer and wine. Don't expect to get a Cadillac margarita, but the selection is not that bad either. To go along with the free booze every night is the free breakfast EVERY morning. (Did I mention I like free?) Made to order omelette's, bacon, sausage, hash browns, all the good stuff.
Lastly, for this particular location it has an indoor pool and jacuzzi that is open late, and perfect for being naughty.
Sketchy area, but very nice and better than usual public area interior. They are undergoing remodelling of all rooms and are only partially completed, so expect a lot of hammering and noise starting at 8 a.m. Free internet access, free booze and junky snacks in the evening, free breakfast with made to order omelettes in the morning, all these are reasons Embassy Suites are a good deal (if you can get a cheap rate). If youre in the area and need to stay in Downey, first ask yourself what went wrong in life, but then stay here, as you could do much worse.
