Probably closer to 1.5.
Came here on business, and our host took us out to this place for lunch. I was hoping for some good Mexican food, and this place missed the mark.
AMBIANCE- The place is pretty big. It looks like they have a place for a band to play, but we came for lunch and there was no band. This was also during world cup time, and they had a few tvs. Other than that, nothing much stood out about this place.
SERVICE- our server seemed kind of aloof as we came a little bit later for lunch (1:30-2ish). Still, considering we were only one of 4 tables, they could've done a better job.
MENU- standard mexican fare applies. They also have a lunch buffet, which is what I ended up getting. My co-worker got fajitas, and the other got enchiladas.
FOOD- again, I know we came late, but that buffet looked all kinds of unkept. And what was there, was not that great. The mole was decent, but after sitting there for what looked to be a few hours, it tasted like it looked. My co-worker enjoyed their fajitas, and my other co-worker ended up getting them as her enchiladas had some hair in them (kinda nasty).
OVERALL- much better places to go. Skip this one.

I was so disappointed in this restaurant! After a long, trying, flight from Florida to South Texas, I was very much in it for the authentic Mexican food. I was quickly disappointed.
I will add that this was on a carry out order.
I perused the menu; struggling to identify what I was familiar with and what I wanted to try. I decided (after about 10 minutes of indecisiveness) to just order the combination plate. I also ordered some chips and guacamole and some VERY DESIRED fried ice cream. I quickly scurried back to my hotel room to break the bag open (in hopes to find that my fried ice cream had not melted). I spread the contents of the bag on the coffee table in front of me and began guessing at which container had my fried ice cream. Wait. There was no fried ice cream. I was a little peeved, but I was even more hungry. I decided to suck it up and head for my chips and guacamole. Wait. No chips, no guacamole. By this time I was really looking forward to the authentic tortillas to make my fajitas that (according to the menu) came with my combination plate. Yeah, those were nowhere to be found.
Needless to say; I sat disappointed and pissed off as I ate skirt steak, a *side* of guacamole, rice, and beans.
I really thought I had found something special in Brownsville, Texas; but I was wrong.
I will admit that I should have called back to the restaurant, but I was too tired, and was too pissed.
