Elm Health is just ok. This coming from someone who lived 14 years in Colorado and knows the REAL DEAL. I find thay lack in the natural health section and do not have near the variety of products of such places as Whole Foods or even your garden variety small health food grocer in Brooklyn. And since they are far from a discount grocer such as Trader Joes I find it incompatable to compare the two. I wished Elm carried a more far reaching selection of produce, snacks and readily prepared items. Since they have the space they could easily aspire to be more like some gems such as Midtowns Westerly Natural Market. I find they do not make as good use of space as some of these smaller health conscience markets that pack em in very tight but seem to have a much more amazing variety. Having said all of that it is by far a better (and cheaper!) market than the neighboring C-Town ect. But thats not saying much since the Upper East side lacks in this arena in general...If you do not mind a little longer walk or commute try A Matter of Health down the street at 77th St and 1st Ave. This is a fine example of where they pack it in and is sure not to dissapoint! If you can get over the crowded and tiny aisles I think you will find it has a much more interesting selection than Elm. But to be fair to Elm Health their neighbor A Matter of Health does not seem to carry as fresh of produce! Nor do their cashiers seem to be all that happy or cheerful most of the time!

Elm rocks my socks!  It's got all the crazy goodness I used to get at my old neighborhood grocery in SF.  They have the essentials that I live on at a resaonble price 1) organic lowfat/nonfat yogurt (Seven Stars is my new favorite - it's delicious, organic, no added crap like corn starch, and the costs the same as Dannon's  2) a full range of organic soups in a box (with a screw top closure!) 3) Nature's Path organic instant oatmeal (Zen and Power are the best!) 4) good selection of Amy's organic frozen pizzas.  Love it!

For the Upper East Siders who just can't justify making it all the way to Trader Joe's only to wait 45 min in line and find Dean and Deluca down the street on the pricy side for daily fare,  Elm is the place.

This store has lots of unusual things - it's worth browsing for this reason alone.  I come here for two items  - Hummus ($2.00) and Zone Balance Protein Bars ($2.29).

A really great store to have in my neighborhood.  They're an awesome resource for organic goodies and have an extensive frozen goods session as well as a nice produce section.  The staff is really very knowledgeable about everything from the herbs and natural remedies they sell to all the foods and their ingredients.

Very highly recommended.

Elm is the best health food/ pharmacy in manhattan BAR NONE!
They have they best: prices, section, quality & service in comparison to all their competitors. As a local resident, I have found myself shopping  there more and more each week and buying less and less from the other stores. I must admit I never expected this from a health food store. But it's true -- That's right it's cheaper! And they are nice, friendly, & happy to help. Gotta Love the Elm!

Elm Health is a great health food store/pharmacy. Prices for organic frozen foods and groceries are cheaper than most Manhattan grocery stores. And they have some prepared foods too. I picked up an awesome tuna sandwich there yesterday.

Pharmacy is very good and can do compounding.  Much better than the Duane Reade nearby.

Health food, drug store and pharmacy in one.  They carry a large selection of organic produce, dairy, frozen food, snacks, sandwiches, and they make fruit and veggie shakes and wraps.  They're pleasant, helpful and know their products.  And they deliver.

This pharmacy has a very inviting scent. It is a mix between lavender and herbs. Either way, It smells wonderful. They have many organic products and prepared foods. They are all fresh and very tastey. Also the pharmacy is excellent. They are fast, friendly, and the delivery is great.
