I've been there twice and both times they were amazing! As a woman, I am often treated like an idiot when it comes to dealing with my car, but the guys at Ellis & Salazar were an amazing help
...and they didnt treat me like an idiot...

I got in an accident on Lamar way before I ever moved here (1997), and a friend recommended this body shop. They were fast, really easy to work with, and since they are a "service first" shop, State Farm paid them directly so I didn't have to deal with an insurance adjuster. I trust this shop, which is not something I say about many automotive businesses. I hope you don't need to go here, but if you do have an accident, this is the place to get your car fixed.

I went in to get an estimate on some damage I had to my car and I have never dealt with a repair shop that was so candid and honest with what my options were, what the cost would be, and what they thought I should do. I would suggest this place highly.
Okay, this is an updated review. I am no longer a customer at this shop. One bad interaction can really rub you the wrong way. Today, the frontman, Eddy was not at his desk to great me. Instead I had to deal with the incapable mechanics. I say that, not just to be mean. They have tried to fix my check engine light so many times and failed. Then, they don't even know the first thing about interacting with customers. I just had a realization that I may have been wasting alot of money there....so it's over.....anyone know of a good mechanic in South Austin, preferrably not a chain?

These guys really are on it, they take great pride in the work they do and you can track your repair online! With updated pictures!
Al Ernst was the guy I used, and I'll come back to him. He made my car's situation seem more humorous than serious when he got a look at the car, was always enthusiastic and accessible, in fact called me more than I called him.
The best part: when I was picking up my car and paying the deductible, the fun lady at the desk seemed to really feel my pain. I love that.
Since my neighbor knicked my car last week, I'm taking my car here tomorrow.
