My wife and I stopped in on a Friday pm on our way  to Buffalo for the weekend and again for lunch Sunday on our way home!  Yes we like it that much!

It had been 8 years since our last trip thru Ellicottville. What a great, quaint little ski town and this brewery/restaurant is on our list of favorites!

Had the onion soup, and steak sandwich terrific!

The BEST $5 bowl of French Onion Soup you will ever find!!  Worth the trip itself!!

The return trip we repeated the onion soup and I splurged ($18) for the Kobe Beef burger with truffle and I was not disappointed. Very good!  Service was fast and friendly and menu is diverse.

As far as the beer we enjoyed the seasonal Winter Witte. A very drinkable beer that is not too hoppy or bitter.  Just right!  Brought a six pack home!

We may try to learn to ski so we can get back more often!!

Good beer. Had a few pints - the Black Hops, Chocolate Cherry Bomb, Blueberry, and the Witte. Black Hops and Chocolate Cherry Bomb were 4 stars, the Witte was completely stylistically off the mark, and the Blueberry was tasty, refreshing, but not mind-blowing. $5 a pint, reasonable for the area we were in (little ski town). Do a sampler though - this was a steal, $6 or so and you can do some of the higher ABV pours.

Unfortunately, the service was completely sub-par. It seemed we got better service standing than we did once we got seats at the bar. At one point, we had our glasses removed and didn't get recognition from any of the three bartenders for ~10 minutes. I would have considered ordering food, as my sidekick was literally famished, but was concerned that we might never see it.

Overall good vibe, menu looked decent, but it was packed and service suffered. Will definitely go back at a less-peak time and hopefully re-evaluate.

Love this brewery! We got the Chocolate Cherry Stout last time, which isn't a regular beer and OMG- go get it right now. It's so so so good that I was willing to drive another hour before a six-hour drive just to taste it again. I also wanted to give the mussels a shot because they sounded delicious and I've had good experiences with  mussels at breweries. Alas, we drank our lunch instead. Def. made a good choice :)

The brewers here seem friendlier and more hands-on than any brewery I've been to so far. They do special tours/tastings for about $15 a head (I think that's what I overheard) and you can see it all going down, so you know what you're getting in to beforehand.

Let's just say go for the beer and some snacks. The beer was great and there was plenty of variety. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Especially our waiter and the barkeep who would let us sample until we found something to our taste. However we made the mistake of ordering dinners and it was a flop in a very big way. Salads and misc small items were fine; the management should have been ashamed of putting that brisket on the plate. It looked like gray bacon, not like any BBQ I have ever had before. Drink some beer, have some fun with the ski crowd, but eat before you go.

The folks and I make the 40-minute drive from Orchard Park just to have lunch here -- mostly in the off-season -- so perhaps my experience differs from other Yelpers'.

I find the food menu to be pretty thoughtful for a brew pub, and the ingredients to be unusually fresh. Every time I go, I wind up having (sharing) the loaded brewer's fries (french fries covered with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and cheese [much, much better than it sounds], $9). For a main, I've gotten the falafel burger ($9) a couple of times, as well as the pastrami reuben ($12). The reuben was decent -- A-for-effort, just not magical -- but I really like the falafel burger. Opt for the salad over the fries as a side -- the lettuce is crisp and fresh every time (not bagged, iceberg nonsense), and the house tomato-vinaigrette is the bomb.

As for the suds, I've had most of their range, and my favorite (at the moment) is the cherry bomb stout. It's like an alcoholic chocolate shake. And by that, I mean it's awwwsome.

Service is spotty-to-decent (but never indifferent). Come for the food and the beer.

    EBC!

The food is OK.  Be aware during ski season the menu prices sky rocket!  We actually walked out last year after seeing a burger was 16 dollars.  I'm here to talk about the beer which they are known for.  It is a very cool brewery that has all the equipment behind glass so you can observe.  The blueberry beer is amazing.

Five stars for the beer, two stars for the food

I can't believe this is my hometown and I've never been to EBC until recently.  Maybe it's because it's always been wall to wall people in there and now I know that I can get a much better meal elsewhere.

Their beer is fantastic.  I don't think I've had a single one that I've disliked.  I really don't like their bottled beer; it's completely different on tap.  I've had their Blueberry Wheat in the past, loved it, picked up a six pack at the store and didn't even finish it because it didn't taste remotely the same as it did on tap.  During our most recent visit I tried the Winter Witte, Chocolate Cherry Bomb and the Catt County Cuvee. The witte tasted more like a lager, but was still good, the stout was great and the cuvee was amazing.

The food wasn't anything to write home about.  My boyfriend had the chicken quesadilla.  As far as we could tell, there wasn't any cheese in it except for the little bit melted on top.  He said it was bland.  I was pretty happy with my half order of Belgian mussels.  There were about 20 in a half order and the broth that they were in was really good.  The one thing that I didn't like was the bread that was served with it.  There wasn't nearly enough of it, but I didn't really care because it was pretty awful.  It's advertised as toasted French bread, but it appeared to be a skinny store bought baguette that disintegrated when I dipped it in the broth.  I'm looking forward to trying their Thai Chile Mussels some time.  The small house salad that I had was pretty good with greens, cherry tomatoes and shaved parmesan.  My mom and her boyfriend each had a barbeque brisket sandwich that was the special that day.  I had a bite and it was good.

I'll be back for the beer, but I'll skip the food.  I'm looking forward to coming back in the summer when there aren't quite so many tourists and relaxing in the beer garden.

Traveling through and had some dinner and tried most of their beers on tap on a sampler. The place is clean, staff were attentive and friendly, and the place has a sky lodge feel.

For food, I had a pork sandwich that was average, not bad though. my friend's steak sandwich was cooked nicely and was tasty! For beer, the Chocolate Cherry Bomb Imperial Stout tastes and smells exactly like it's name suggests. Very good in a small quantity and end of meal as desert  (unless you have a major sweet tooth and love chocolate and cherries, then you might like it anytime and in any quantity!). Mowmasters Pale Ale was hardly hoppy with little bitterness. Malts were nice and light but had strong flavors. You'll like this, especially if you don't like ipa's. The Pantius Droppus (HAHA!) double ipa was average. If you like ipa's you might like this, but the hop aroma and taste was nothing to write home about and it also had some tart/sourness to it that I didn't like very much. pretty boozy at 10.0% abv. The Cuveé was good for the style. Finally, the 2 Brothers Pale Ale was very good! good balance between malt and hops, light and not very bitter so most people would probably enjoy it, and some taste of orange and citrus is nice!

Lastly, there is a great arboretum near by the brewery that was free and not too big, but had great stuff inside and was good for an after-dinner walk!

This is where I escape to when I need some time away from my in-laws who live nearby.  This place is great anytime of the year but I suppose I tend to avoid it during the ski season because of the crowds.  At least at meal times.

I always sit at the bar-the bartenders are helpful and patient as you choose your brew.  I know I have eaten here, but I honestly can't remember what I've had so I guess it wasn't too memorable.  However, I find myself here during non-eating times of the day so food usually isn't a thought.  That's not a bad thing, the beers are fantastic and worth a visit on their own-even if you don't have in-laws to hide from.  i recommend the sampler so you can try them all. Otherwise, the seasonal and limited-editions are usually what I'm drawn to drinking.

Excellent selection of beer, brewed on premise. Great food, the staff is friendly if a bit rushed. In the summer, the patio out back is the best in town.

As for the wait, what do you expect? You are in a ski town on a weekend, EVERYTHING is busy and there is a wait EVERYWHERE. Suck it up, saddle up to the bar and enjoy a few of the pints that they are known for.

My only complaint is that it is very loud. Everything in there seems to reflect sound, so it is very noisy and hard to hold a conversation, especially in the bar area.

If you like the beer, you can grab a growler and fill it up with your favourite and take it home. Refills are also pretty cheap, so it is a great way to enjoy!

So lots of reviews below state that the wait is ridiculous... I would agree but will also throw out there that it is probably one of 3-4 good bars in a ski-town that houses maybe 3,000 residents but brings in another 500 visitors a day on weekends. Which also means parking is difficult, just use your head when looking for a spot, there are plenty around. Yes, there's a bit of a wait. But the solution awaited us 6 feet from the hostess stand who told me it was an hour wait.

The bar. Taps of microbrews. Bottles of varying flavors. I could wait here another couple hours if needed. You can also order at the bar, in fact we decided to get an appetizer of Tuna Tataki won-tons. Our table was freed up and the waitstaff kindly asked if I wanted to close my bar tab and forward everything to my table. Yes, please!

Wait -- let's get back to business here. The beer. Very tasty. Famous for their Blueberry Wheat ale. Let me tell you, I am not a fan of fruity beers. However - this had the perfect blueberry undertone and tasted like a crisp, well brewed wheat ale. They put fresh blueberries in your draught too! I tried EBC's Oak Aged Stout that was smooth and smoky, as well as the Nut Brown Ale, brown and full of oaty flavor. In fact it made me want to try the Oatmeal Stout but I didn't get a chance to.

EBC's menu was eclectic to say the least. I would call it comfort food with an asian flair. The tuna tataki over crispy won-tons were delicious. Tuna was prepared well. Garnished with scallions, wasabi sauce, and teryaki sauce. We then proceeded to order the African Peanut Soup, Crab Cakes, and Shepherd's Pie to share. Peanut soup was to die for! Tasted like a spicy, pad thai soup. Very full peanut flavor. Crab cakes were so-so. In fact I've had better. They were too dense and too full of cornmeal / filling. I'm a crab cake snob but these honestly tasted like fish sticks from a box to me. The shepherd's pie was really tasty. The eiptome of comfort food. However -- in my opinion -- too much potato and not enough meat inside.

All in all a good, filling meal after a long day of snowboarding and skiing. The bar and beers were great. Yes, it was busy but I'll deal. Just plan ahead for an hour wait if you're going to stop by during dinner hours on the weekend.

Family friendly atmosphere. The Steelers fans were cheerful and loud as would any be in a bar during a playoff game.

Dresscode is very casual. However--if you had been on the slopes all day at least change into jeans. I felt quite out of place with my snow pants still on.

We also left with two 6-packs to-go of the Blueberry Wheat and Nut Brown! By the way -- the tab at the end of the night was not bad at all! Very fairly priced!

I went to Ellicotville Brewing Co because it had pretty good reviews on Yelp but I was still nervous being from the Cleveland area and having no idea what was around Holiday Valley. Let me tell you how happy I was with this choice!

The crab cakes and perogies were awesome as appetizers :)

Also I got their signiture burger, which was awesome as well and my boyfriend had the pulled pork (amazing)!

The pale ale was good, but $5...

Anyways, it's about 2 minutes from the slopes and I totally will go back next time :)

Stumbled in here after a long day of skiing and had a great time! It was a busy night but we did not seem to wait too long. We met some great locals and others who were visiting the area also. We tasted several different beers and ended up bringing some back to the hotel with us. The environment was extremely loud but it goes with the atmosphere!
    See you next winter!

It did appear as if everyone below was correct - the wait was very long, but what do they expect in a skiing village!  We didn't find the wait as a problem, and just popped up to the bar and started sampling some beer!

We didn't know which to start with, and they let us sample quite a few - very friendly and helpful.

I settled on the Blueberry beer - and they add fresh blueberries to the pint.  It was very yummy - and not too sweet!

don't really care about the long wait times if they keep serving that African Peanut Soup!!

mad props to Kris P. for the heads up on that soup, we wound up coming twice on an overnight trip to have it, no sharing of bowls either....keep it up, it's the best thing on the menu other than the fine selection of beer (we also left with a Growler!).  I have dreams about that peanut soup.....*sigh*

Our party of 10 hungry folks were seated quickly.  The menu was quite small for a pub place as they usually feature pages of offerings.  A good sign I thought, as a kitchen that has to crank out dozens and dozens of items usually can't do it very well.

For our size group, service was swift and gracious.  Beer samplers and other refreshments arrived promptly.  We only ordered two appetizers, the calamari and the seared tuna on sesame won tons.

I was a bit disappointed with the calamari as I can guarantee they came out of a bag.  Boo hoo. Only perfectly formed rings and no crispy delicate tentacles.  They came glazed with a peanut sauce of sorts, and then had a mayo based dip on the side.  The flavor was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary.  I really enjoyed the tuna, however, and thought that the choice of using crunchy won tons was wise as it was a tasty way in which to transport the tuna to my mouth.

We opted to split a burger, and I was thrilled to hear them ask how I like my meat done.  I prefer a bit of pink, as it usually guarantees a jucier patty.  When the entree came out, I was in charge of slicing the 1/2 pounder and  I immediately noticed the bun was hard and cold.  Major bummer.

A bad bun can ruin even the best burger.  I decided against even using the top of the roll and just opted for the old knife and fork method of eating it.  The beef had a decent charbroiled flavor, but it was dry and over cooked.  My guilty pleasure turned into a diet plate.   Yuck.

The fries were ok.  McDonald's are far better.  Other entrees that were ordered seemed to be hit and miss.  The special of the day "taco salad", arrived looking so ordinary - no crispy tortilla shell to hold all the goodies just a plain bowl.   It resembled a dinner salad with ground beef and shredded cheese.  It just didn't look appetizing and the presentation was  dismal.  It seemed they put more effort into the appetizers then the main meals.

An open faced turkey reuben was hidden under an avalanche of Russian Dressing.  The diner didn't seem to mind, but I know I would have been doing some scraping.

All in all the service was great, the atmosphere decent, but the food was just so so.  If I was to return, I would opt for some suds and tuna, but stay away from the rest of the offerings.

I enjoy coming to EBC. It's a nice place to unwind after hitting the slopes all day at Holiday Valley.

I like their Nut Brown or Toasted Lager beer. They offer a wide selection of dark and light beers to try and enjoy.

The food is good. It can be a bit pricey but it tastes delicious and you get a decent amount. I tried the Sheppard's Pie on my most recent visit. It was very good. It was nice to have to warm up and fill up. Previously I had the Pulled Pork sandwich which is also very good.

EBC is a great microbrew/grill. I will forgive their expensive prices based on the tourist location.

The food is great, the most upscale bar food in the area, and the beer makes it even better (make sure you get some to go!). We tried the french onion soup, great just as it should be, a vegan salad with fresh goat cheese, and a charred steak sandwich (great smoky flavor, although could have been a better cut of meat for $11).

This place is usually PACKED in the wintertime, so either catch an early dinner or a late one as seating from 5-8 is generally wall to wall.

Thanks to Rob T for the tip on the African peanut soup!

Came here with my parents after hiking around the lake at Allegany State Park on a brisk, chilly day.  We were hungry and the aforementioned peanut soup hit the spot.  I also had (and was unable to finish because it was so big) the chicken pot pie, which was delicious.  EBC serves high quality food that's all too rare in the western half of New York State.  Their beers are good too -- I had the blueberry wheat beer and my dad had one of their special seasonal brews, a chocolate cherry stout.

If EBC were in Boston or New York, it would probably merit four stars.  The fact that it's in a small town in the Southern Tier means that EBC is truly as good as it gets!  Woohoo!  I challenge you to find better food anywhere in Cattaraugus County, and possibly further than that.

So I had to travel to West Valley, NY for business.  Being south of Buffalo in rural western NY in the middle of winter isn't really my idea of a good time but I was really surprised to find such a great place to eat in this little ski town.

First off you absolutely must have the African Peanut Soup.  Sort of a cream of chicken with a thai peanut twist.  Very flavorful and not too spicy.  The Shepherd's Pie was phenomenal once I got past burning the interior of my mouth.  Very tasty with a great mix of veal and veggies in a flaky crust.  Top that off with some excellent micro brew (Blizzard was my favorite, the Nut Brown was quite good too) made right there in the building.  You can smell them brewing all over the quaint little downtown area.

I enjoy EBC they have a nice atmosphere and the beer is pretty good.

The food, on the other hand, is not worth the price.  I have eaten here many times and never really felt that I got quite what I wanted.

The service is okay.  Its a bit slow.

As for the clientele, that depends...it varies so greatly.  During a festival week-end, it is crowded and loud.  During a normal winter week-end it is  pretentious.  During the summer...dead.

    Bottom line.  I'll be back.

I generally judge pubs on their burgers, but EBC has Kobi burgers and just don't see the point of a $20 cheeseburger. I got the fish and chips, which was excellent.

ECB is a typical Gastro Pub offering an eclectic menu and a good selection of beers (7 regulars on tap and 1 seasonal).  This is a great place to get dinner.

I would rate their beers just as "average", but they do have very intriguing seasonal brews on their menu/website that I  would be interested in trying.

The setting is great - rustic micro pub in a small ski village, and overall great place.  Though not a negative, I would rate their food and eclectic menu above their beer, and  I would highly recommend it if you are visiting Ellicottville/Holiday Valley.
