Review from Erin K.
New York, NY
This winery was suggested to us by a restaurant in Cannon Beach (thank you to the Wine Bar at Sweet Basil's). What a beautiful winery and Cassandra was a delight in the tasting room. The wines were wonderful, so wonderful I joined their wine club. It's a delight receiving 2 wines every month that help remind me of my last vacation. I was so excited to find Elk Cove at my local wine shop (Gnarly Vines) in Brooklyn, NY. Cheers!

Perched on a ridge, this winery sits in a wonderful location. We arrived in the afternoon on a bright wintery Friday. The tasting room has white floor tiles, filled with merchandise, and fairly large. We tasted their range of wines including: a Pinot Gris, a couple Pinot Noirs, Syrah, and white dessert wine. The wines were decent, some I liked others I did not. We bought a wonderful Syrah but none of the other wines were in consideration. Service was decent

We got married here at Elk Cove in July and it was a beautiful wedding location. We had a destination wedding and Martha was helpful, responsive and a joy to work with. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The vineyards are picturesque and the view from the banquet hall and its balcony are spectacular. The wine is really good and the facilities overall are good. The gazebo is a nice setting for the ceremony itself, as long as you have a manageable number of guests. We were quite pleased with all of our vendors and would also recommend the catering done by Voila at this event. Our guests were very happy as were we with our choice. The reason for 4/5 stars is that we did have a small amount of cash stolen from the dressing room, but we got assurances that Elk Cove would work on improving safety at the venue and that this was a one-off occurrence. Highly recommended.

I'd heard great things about Elk Cove, but my expectations were blown out of the water as soon as we turned the corner into the vineyard.
I must first pay homage to the BYOF concept. A day of wine tasting can lead to more oyster crackers than I'd like to admit to devouring, but at Elk Cove, you can taste five wines for $5 and then pick your favourite for a full glass and take a stroll down to the gazebo with a bucket of chicken if you so choose. Basically, they encourage folks to lounge around and enjoy not only the wine but the scenery as well - and sitting outside on a patio overlooking the vineyard with a mouthful of cheese and a glass full of wine was ace.
I quite enjoyed the single vineyard Windhill Pinot Noir, but the reisling was surprisingly nice, and that's coming from a lover of spicy ass-kicking reds.
As for the view... I recommend using the trusty ol' thesaurus and inserting the word "stunning" or "breathtaking" or perhaps "omgholycrapthisplaceisfreakingbeautiful" to give yourself a good idea of what you're in store for.Listed in: Oregon Wine Tasting

I got married here in August and people are still talking about how beautiful everything was!
When I was looking for a venue, I just fell in love with the beauty of the vineyard (and this was on a frosty February day). The wedding package included use of the gazebo (after 5pm, once the tasting room closed) and their banquet room. There is also a small bridal room available to use. Though they only allow beer and wine (Elk Cove, of course, which is wonderful) purchased through them, you can bring in your own caterer and other vendors.
All of the staff, with the exception of one of the event coordinators, were a delight to work with and helped with a few odd requests. The only reason this isn't a five star review is that the gazebo setup (where the ceremony would take place if you choose to get married there) is a bit strange and the fore mentioned event coordinator (thankfully she was NOT working my wedding). This is something they don't mention to you but it's still manageable. The views more than make up for it though!
This is also a fun place to come wine tasting, which I've done on several occasions! -

The views are unbeliveable here. The deck overlooking the vineyard is spectacular, but sit at the picnic tables across from the parking lot and you get a wonderful view of the Cascade Mountains.
The wines are excellent. Pinot Noir's are the big thing in Oregon, but I love their Pinot Gris here. Really wonderful. I have enjoyed a very nice dessert wine made from Viogner grapes called Utilma. -

Absolutely, beautiful vineyard with complementary wine tastings. The late harvest reisling is a great wine and their pinot's are definitely worth tasting.
The only criticism is that the wine selection is a little bit pricier than one would expect of oregon wines, but the place has class and its craftsmanship shows in the wines they produce.
The tasting room is open from 10 am so its definitely a great way to start the day.Listed in: Wine Tasting in the Northwest

I have to qualify this review by saying I've only been to one wine tasting - this one - and I grew up in the town of Gaston.
But, I don't think that changes the fact that the views from this tasting room are stunning. Robert Parker says it's the best view of all the Oregon wineries, so who am I to disagree?
The wine is quite good. I left town at 18, so I'd never actually tasted their product before, even though the son who runs the place now is only a couple years older than me. Their late-harvest riesling isn't famous, but it's quite good. It's sweet, but has a bit of acid that make it that rare sweet wine that actually has structure and could do more than just accompany super-sweet desserts.
The pinot gris is also very nice - it fits the mold well and I bought some to give as gifts because wine lovers can enjoy it, and wine novices won't be intimidated by it.
Their pinot noirs are also really great - I was actually surprised how much I liked them.
They have a new pinot noir rose that I got to try, and it's very, very dry, which I personally would have liked better accompanying food instead of just straight tasting.
Overall experience, though, is wonderful. Beautiful drive, beautiful views, very enjoyable wine, and friendly staff. -

Love, Love, Love their wine... This vineyard is definitely worth the trip. Amazing Pinot Noir and my favorite pinot gris. We took a trip up there and brought our dog with us, there were a bunch of other groups that we mingled with and had a great time! I would recommend taking the back-road scenic wine country highway... the most amazing scenery, even on cloudy days! I would definitely go back and I agree with bringing food, this would be a great spot to have a picnic... there isn't much in Gaston.

I found the 2008 Pinot Gris decent, but I wouldn't buy it again, because I've had much better (try the Arcane cellars pinot gris, haven't had a better Pinot Gris in Oregon yet!!!!!!!!!). The 2007 Viognier falls flat. All their Pinot Noirs are as intriguing as the personality of the lady minding the bar (terrible, dry and flat). The 2008 Riesling was not bad, but I've had many better Oregonian Rieslings (try LaVelle vineyards or Hillcrest etc). "Wine-wise", this was a pretty forgettable experience. See my other Oregonian wine reviews!!!!!!!!!!!
