Been here a bunch of times for brunch (esp. when I used to live here) but had no idea the ownership had changed hands and dinner would be served.
Such a fun little neighborhood place and a great way to say "bon voyage" to Katie S and hello to the new Katy (same as the old Katy, but no, not really).
The food was pretty inspired, honestly - and I had no idea what to expect (again, this is only a brunch place, in my mind). And interestingly enough, I know the new owner (hi Alcena!). The servers were able to get the noshes out really quickly, and the Halloween-themed candies were a really nice touch.
My wife and I even met some new Yelp-friends (like Facebook friends, only tastier). So no complaints here.
I'll definitely be back to try this place out for a "real" dinner sometime.
Loved it! Would like to thank the following 37 people for the name tags:
Eduardo ("Who invited you?" hahahaha j/k, Cuban fries), Danielle (no last initial, perhaps a spy?), Laura L, Ian M, Alyson L, Meredith K, Derek W, Taylor D, David A, Helen W, Gavin N, Norri (two name tags, for some reason), Rylee O, Dan S, Matt K, Jen L, Gabe A, Ron M, Shirley Y, Liz (spy?), Calvin Y, Eugen C, Alli D, John S, Inna, Julie B, Tony G, Carly L, Rachel A, Anne (spy?), Alison R, CHARLOTTEG. (Charlotte G needs to learn spaces are your friend), Sam Z, Roy (spy?), the indescribably rad Matt R, one obviously fake name Super McAwesome, and some person who sounds very familiar named Katy H.
Great event. I kept getting accused of "not being drunk enough" to be the night's name tag person. Which is true, but that's the way the ball crumbles sometimes.
Amazing food, great company, cozy location, fantastic event for Katie S to go out on! Katy has some serious shoes to fill.
As fun as an event gets.
People kept bringing out food, and all of us kept devouring it.
I could have kept on going, too, but I had another thing to get to last night.
There was a shit-ton of wine and the servers and owner were SO nice.
I will totally be returning to Louisa's. For real.
Like the chocolate in the Brownie Bite dessert, this was very bittersweet since this elite event marks Katie S's last event as Seattle's Community Manager (and WHAT A CM SHE WAS!), but also serves as a great big welcome for Katy H as our new CM.
Overall, this event was superb and classy! Very nice selection of food --- mango bacon crab cake, fennel/leek salad, green tomatoes and steak, and brownie bites and an ice cream tart! And plus, never ending wine! Of course, I must add the company was absolutely fantastic!
BIG BIG thanks to Katie S. once again and Louisa's!!!
WE WILL MISS YOU KATIE!
OOOH WHAT A NIGHT!! (sing it with me)
So - first - a big giant PROPS to Katie S. Ugh ... I'm sad to see her go. If only she could stay and be my partner in crime, er Yelp! :)
What to talk about ... ?
-Drinks - awesome
-Food - awsomer
-Service - even more awesomer
-People - awesomest!
Ok - let's speak REAL English. It was a great event. So well organized, so tasteful, and so much fun. Everyone was in a cheery mood despite the recent transition from great to not-so-great Seattle weather.
Great to see everyone I knew, great to meet everyone I hadn't met in person, and just as great to meet and make new friends.
Louisa's really prepared a lovely menu and I'm stoked to go back and experience it again.
'Till next time!
The food was delicious (and never scarce), the wine kept pouring, we met our new CM (Hi Katy H!), Yelpers were in their fall finest, and even the pumpkins were dressed up! This evening far exceeded my expectations!!
Great job, Katie S, Louisa's staff and everyone who made this a stellar event!! This is the kind of evening that deserves several exclamation points!!
I'm no longer a Yelp Elite Event Virgin.
After almost two years of Yelping I finally made it to a Yelp event (Julie B. thank you for letting me be your +1).
Wow---I finally got to meet Katie S, too!! Better late than never. You threw it down! I had an awesome time. It was also cool to meet the NEW Katy.
So yeah, my first Elite Event. Ummm...it was a bit surreal. I've see all these Seattle Yelpers from afar (I'm always peaking over the Cascades with my nose hanging over and watching all the coolness going on over here). It was a treat to see finally see & hang with the Seattle Yelp crew in the real (vs. virtual) world! I need to get to more of these Events.
On to Louisa's
*****************
What a cool little spot. I've never really tried anything in East Lake before, but it's a cool neighborhood. Louisa's offered a nice and homey space for a cool event. The staff were super nice---the woman weaving around with a wine bottle offering info on her pours was hella cool.
APPETIZER: The crab cakes were totally yummy---I fought the urge to grab about 7 plates.
SALAD: Ummm....not much of a salad person. The bread was decent.
MAIN COURSE: the flank steak was scrumptious & the hidden sweet potato was a choice compliment to the meat.
DESSERT: the brownie bite and ice cream was a ying yang of rich darkness, and light creaminess.
WINE: I had a white & two reds (something from Oregon and Italy)--I'm not a connoisseur but I was down.
Such a cool experience. You Elites rock the house, and I can't wait to crash another Event sometime!
THANK YOU KATIE S.!
I'm still tipsy from the delicious wine that was served (and might I add, the perfect compliment to the extraordinarily creative dishes). Can we say yummy? Mmmm.
Rolling out the carpet for Katy H. was awesome, but saying goodbye to Katie S. was sad.
What a perfect event to showcase what Louisa's has to offer. I'm definitely intrigued, and surely coming back on my own!
Katie S rolls out the red carpet for us one last time (as Seattle CM) and, as expected, she does a fantastic job once again.
The hosts? Great! The waitress made sure my wine glass wasn't empty until I decided I'd had enough wine. They were very much on top of everything (and the venue was great, too). It made me wonder if they had read previous Elite Event reviews so they'd know what to do!
The food? Delicious! Perfectly sized servings. I liked it all, but my favorite plates were definitely the steak and the salad.
This event was extra special because it felt intimate and we all got to sit down at tables (if we wanted to) when we were working through the different courses. I only expected small samples, so I was very happy to have gotten a full meal!
Oh, and a big warm welcome to the new Seattle CM Katy H!
Matt woke up in the middle of the night worried that we didn't pay for dinner at the event last night! Luckily, I assured him that yelp events are awesome like that.
The food was GREAT! I am actually getting my hair done next door today and will head over to Louisa's for a nibble after. The service was fantastic (I mean, never any empty wine glass) and my table was awesome. We played with playdough like crazy and Matt's stay puft head was our centerpiece.
Bravo to Michelle, Katie (sniff.... sniff :() and new Katy. Per usual, it was awesome ladies.
:)
as sad it was to see this as an event for Katie's departure, it really was wonderful meeting the new CM. that said, i loved the use of space and the dining experience for this event. It felt intimate and cozy, just like the yelp community.
great job Katie. you're loved and will be missed.
Dear Katie S.,
You're awesome. This event was amazing. We'll miss you.
That's all.
Err.... oops, that's not all. Thank you!
-Aaron E.
p.s. FEED ME MORE CRAB CAKES!!!
First, very sad to see Katie leaving but happy to meet Katy!
I went in with mediocre expectations. I had only ever been to Louisa's a few times for breakfast and had mixed experiences. However, tonight was amazing!!! The wine was quite yummy. The hosts were fabulous. They did an amazing job of brining out the food in good intervals and props to the kitchen for keeping up with a group of hungry yelpers!
The food itself was amazing. Kudos to the chef for delicious food. I'm not a big crab fan but the crab cake with the bacon mango topping was quite yummy. The fennel/leek salad was great too! That steak and fried green tomatoes with butternut squash puree was heavenly. I was happy that a dining companion was vegetarian so she let me share her plate with her - she took those tomatoes and I took the steak. I want more! And then dessert. The brownie was perfect consistency with a nice topping. The ice cream was your standard stuff (or so I thought), but that little pastry it was served in made the entire dessert heavenly. And the mint just added a bit of kick to it.
Deeeeelicious and yet another great event!
At training this morning, my trainer asked me, "What's that stamp on your hand?"
I actually never knew that the nametags were stamped by hand. When I saw the stamps, I naturally assumed that they were for stamping your hand. Thus - my hand is now Yelp Elite. Please welcome it to the Yelp Elite squad next time you see it.
Louisa's put on quite a show last night!! The food was all delicious - and even though I tend to stay away from steak, I didn't stop with the main course until every bite was gone from my plate. This was a chill dinner party atmosphere, which was great for meeting new people. (Shout out to new people I met last night!)
Congrats to Nori for the best pumpkin!! I liked hers, but a close second was the one who created a new Halloween-themed Yelp compliment. If you missed it, you missed out - it was super creative!!
Best wishes to Katie S on her next steps - we're going to miss you lots! But we know you're going to greater things...
... And you're leaving us in good hands! Congrats (again) to Katy H / 2.0 for the big unveiling. You milked the suspense just long enough, but not *too* long that the suspense caused me to do the fake-out stand up.
Thanks to everyone who put this on, including the fab folks at Louisa's! Another great event!
Good lord this event was a buffet of awesome! (And I wish I could have typed the "awesome" in italics just to provide the right emphasis into just how awesome it was.)
Walked in the door and BAM! Wine glass was thrust my way and filled with a lovely, generous pour of some delicious nectar. Mingled a bit, met new people... saw old friends. The food was mesmerizing - perfectly cooked and left a fantastic impression, further solidifying my need to re-visit this location in the future.
But enough about that, the best part of the evening would have to be the bittersweet farewell of Katie and the rise of Katy in her place. I'll see you in San Fran! And anybody who knows where Ukiah, CA is happens to be pretty damn okay in my book...
What more could a girl want? Good wine, tasty food, and fantastic company? It doesn't get much better than that! I was excited to finally meet some of my fellow Yelpers in person as this was my first Elite Event! The food was really good - I'm so sad I had to miss dessert...brownies are one of my favorites too! But the crabcake, fennel salad, and steak were delish! I will have to come back and try their dinner menu. I noticed they had mac'n'cheese on it and doesn't that sound just right for a cold wet fall night? mmm comfort food!
Thank you Katie S and Louisa's for a FABULOUS time last night!
For my first yelp elite event, I think it was awesome!
The event was fairly intimate with your closest 75 friends or so. :) The folks with the wine, kept our glasses full until we told them to stop. The food was small plates, the first course was a crab cake on some mango stuff, and it was good, the salad had fennel and was pretty damn tasty, the main was rare steak slices on some squash and the dessert was a hunk of dense chocolate brownie with a scoop of ice cream in a pastry cup. Yum! Our plates were whisked away in an efficient manner.
It was great to go and meet a couple people I've only exchanged messages with (Calvin, this means YOU), along with some new friends, such as Corrine C. and Joshua/Angie B. And of course it was great to meet Katie S. before her great departure to SF. Thanks Katie!
And Katy H, as new CM, well, we happened to become friended earlier today so I felt it was even more fortuitous that tonight was meant to be.
Thanks all, looking forward to seeing more people at the next event! :)
Another cool event! Saying goodbye to one Katie and welcoming another as our new fearless leader. Salad, steak, sweet potatoe, Pinot Noir, and a tasty rich dessert to top it off. Great company and another nice event. I can't complain.
I gifted my pumpkin to Louisa's. So, if you see a pumpkin with the "Hot Stuff" icon flame a'burning and keeping the Yelp spirit alive. That was me. Thanks Yelp. Thanks Louisa's. Best of luck in SF, Katie. Great event. Bravo!
Another super sweet Yelp Event!! This one was probably my favorite, mostly because I could actually hear what other people were saying and I had the option to sit down if I wanted to.
I missed the crab cakes at the beginning and left before the brownie dessert but I really enjoyed the salad and I ate the green tomatoes that came with my boyfriend's steak course. Now I want to go back to Louisa's and try some of their regular menu items!
All in all, a great night - I'm very sad to see Katie S go but excited for future fun with Katy H!
This was my first Elite Event tagging along as a +1. I wasn't sure what to expect since I didn't find out about these events until a few days ago. Food was delicious: crab cake, fennel salad, steak, brownie bites and vanilla ice cream. Wow. I was stuffed. Not to mention the never ending wine. Oh, and of course great yelpers there.
Thanks Katie S. for organizing a great event! And thanks Wayne K. for letting me tag along :)
I can admit, I was a little apprehensive about attending my first Seattle Yelp Elite Event. I mean I've read the reviews up here and Seattle folks take their Yelp seriously. Way more so than we do down in Houston, lol. Nonetheless, I figured I'd grab my trusty wing(wo)man Sarah B. and head out to see what Seattle Elite Events were like.
I was very impressed. The location was great. I had read in another review that the person didn't know the name tags were hand stamped. I fell victim to this as well, and stamped my hand elite, and wore a +1 name badge for about 10 mins before I realized what was up.
The wine was great. I have to admit, I can not remember the name, but it was definitely one of the smoothest red wines I've ever had. Of course, I had to have about 3 glasses to make sure :-). They served a salad that was great, though I can't remember the dressing. The flank steak and squash was incredible and actually quite filling given the size of the plates. The dessert was a thick chocolate brownie and ice cream with a ice cream cone wafer kind of thing underneath. It was great. I couldn't finish the brownie and had to let go over half of it, much to the dismay of my partner in crime, but oh well.
The location itself was nice. At times I kept asking Sarah if this was a bakery or a restaurant because the line seemed a little blurred if you know what I mean. I could see a sample of the types of items sold in the bakery and I can say that the cookies looked really good.
The staff and owner were very friendly. The chef came around several times and asked us if we were ok and how was everything. The cute waitress came around and made sure our glasses weren't empty for long.
We also had a chance to see who the new Yelp Mod would be and she's awesome. Managed to have a little bit of a convo with her toward the end of the night.
It was good to see all the Yelp Elites and I look forward to the next Yelp event.
I've heard from a much more wiser and most likely older (just kidding) yelp eliter that I can give bad reviews, while giving 5 stars...will I be the first???
HECK NO!!!...this event was awesome! It was better than awesome, it was off da hizzy!!! Do kids still say that?
Anyway, what more can you ask for...free great food, free great wine, and free conversations with great people. I usually have to pay for all these things...especially the conversations.
Although this was my first Elite event, I had a great time. No wonder the reviews for these parties are always so awesome. I'm already wondering if I'll be invited to the next event....I better get my reviews cracking...:) Thanks everyone for a fun time!
A very small and intimate gathering of wonderful people. Not nearly as much debauchery as at some events, which I'm sure the staff appreciated.
Of course the food was fabulous, the crab cakes being my favorite. Or the brownie and ice cream. Or the steak. Or the wine. Whatever. Luisa's chefs know how to serve it up right!
It was awesome to have three lovely ladies in charge, so thanks a million to Katie S., Michelle, and Katy H!
This was my favorite Elite event ever!
Playdough at the tables and candy corn!
There was never ending food and wine. The service was spectacular and friendly.......did I say friendly? Yes! Great timing and delivery on the food.
The crab cakes, salad and steak - all completely amazing. I had one bite of a brownie and it was chocolate bliss.
Although it is bittersweet to lose our Katie, I'm looking forward to ushering in the next events with the new Katy - big shoes to fill but I'm sure she will do great!
I hope y'all tipped because the staff was awesome!
I'll be honest - my expectations weren't high when I walked into this event, but I prepared my virgin +1 Super McAwesome to at least have a good time meeting new people.
I was pleasantly surprised and we definitely didn't fail in the "good time meeting new people" category (yay for approaching strangers in a friendly manner - take THAT Seattle Freeze).
After receiving our nametags we stepped over to Adam's Table O' Wine for our adult beverages, which were served promptly with a friendly smile, though Super was a bit bummed not to have a beer option (the lovely owner remedied that shortly after with no hassle, thus ensuring Super's undying devotion).
I didn't actually touch any of the food until they came out with a round of brownies at the end of the evening, though everything else *smelled* amazing!
Thanks to our fantastic soon-to-be-gone CM Katie S. and the rest of the yelp crew AND the wonderful staff who worked last night, this Elite event was cozy, fun and renewed my love for Yelp (in addition to inspiring future trips to check out Louisa's.)
As for our new CM Katy H - welcome! I can't wait to see the fabulous future events you have up your sleeve.
Mmm... delicious munchies, lots of wine, good peoples wearing name tags that may or may not have been theirs-- what's not to love? Whoever did the yelp-logo pumpkin-- that was my personal favorite. :)
Unfortunately, I am now mildly addicted to Louisa's bread. The owner and staff were friendly and awesome, especially when refilling our wine glasses and helping us stash our motorcycle helmets out of the way of the party.
Katie, thanks for all your amazing work at Yelp in Seattle!
This could be my favorite elite event thus far. It was nice to mingle at a smaller venue for sure.
Got to chat with some of the Book Club homies without the pressure of having to read a book first :) And everybody was very sweet to my +1 Liz who was a total Yelp newbie.
The food was delicious... crab cakes, a lovely fennel salad, and I love it when places know how to cook a rare steak! I'll have to bring my hubby for date night so he can check it out too.
This may seem strange, but this was my FAVORITE ELITE EVENT OF ALL TIME!
I love a cozy friendly atmosphere where everyone can just mix and mingle and it feels all homey and comfortable. Plus, whoever thought of putting play doh on the tables is a GENIOUS. I love spontaneous opportunities for creativity!
The wine was excellent, a very smooth white white wine. The crab cakes were flavorful and yummy. The salad was excellent, I loved the dressing. Lastly, that Brownie a la mode with the crispy, almost but not quite waffle-cone tasting flakey stuff under the icecream was sooooooo fantastic. I love a place that knows how to do desserts... looking forward to coming back here!
I attended this event as a plus one, and I'd never attended a Yelp event! I had an amazing time! I was skeptical at first, as anyone would be walking into an event knowing one person, but man! You Yelp elites and Mod's are super friendly! I enjoyed that there was free wine, the white was amazing, but that red one ( I never caught the name ) was unlike anything I had ever tried before! Ran into some people I actually did know which was crazy, and got to eat some amazing flank steak with fried green tomatoes, and butternut squash puree. Which, I gladly gave to my veggie pal. The desert was SO awesome! Brownie bites with vanilla ice cream packaged into this cute little puff pastry piece of goodness. On a blustery fall evening, there was nothing better than new friends, good food, and awesome venue :)
My first Yelp event! And definitely not the last. Super fun. Met some Elites and some Plus Ones. All you Yelpers are really friendly!
This was my first time as an 'Eliter' and I had so much fun, I didn't want the good times to end. Louisa's was a cool place with good food. The wine, which was flowing like water, wasn't half bad either! ;) I have to admit I was eager to meet Katie S. but sad to hear that she's moving on to more San Francisco-ier things. Fear not though, she's still going to be in the Yelp family. ;) We got to meet her replacement, and they made it real easy for us to remember her, as she's a Katy too. I am really looking forward to the next Yelp event, Elite or not. The people are fun, they care about food & adventuring to wild new places in search of the next great (or not-so-great) review. I love it. Keep it coming, y'all.
