BEST CHEESECAKE EVER [well besides the one my boyfriend's aunt makes].
When you first walk in this place may look a little shabby but thats because they not only sell their cheesecakes and desserts there but they also make them in the same building! You can even watch them through the glass. They also sell other goodies, so it's kind of like a 3 in 1 building. Lol.
I will tell you that honestly everything tastes so fresh you would be surprised why this little gem is so hidden! I had the strawberry cheesecake and my boyfriend had the turtle pecan cheesecake. They were both to die for! We also got a red velvet cupcake but unfortunately I threw it out by mistake. But man, oh man, their prices were ridiculous [in a good way]!!! For those three things we got we paid less than $10 including the couple dollars tip.... I mean.... can you ask for more?
Check this place out! It's definitely a Chicago original, and I'm very proud to have that around. I hope it becomes as famous as it was before! -

I don't know how to describe how amazing this tiramisu is. I haven't tried tiramisu from many places (only from whole foods, at a friend's house, and also my own recipe) but this was incredible -- I didn't like tiramisu before trying this. The tiramisu's I've had in the past were all more cake-like, whereas this was more soggy in texture, which might sound a little gross in concept but I promise that it's actually super delicious. I guess they're most well known for their cheesecake so I need to try it eventually too, but if you're looking to order a tiramisu, you can't go wrong with this.

As part of our visit to Chicago, we went on their tour. Weekdays only. No reservations - you just show up a while before and buy a ticket.
The tour consists of a promotional video ( the President of the company gave a short welcome afterwards, in person, which was neat ). Afterwards, you don hair nets and get to go onto a cordoned-off section of the factory floor for a short while, where you see one of the workers decorate a custom cheesecake which is raffled off. As visitors, we were keen not to win the cheesecake raffle ( what are we going to do with a *whole* cheesecake? ). We luckily lost. But then they decided for some reason to do a second one. Which we won.
So there we were, on our way to see the Frank Lloyd Wright home, on a very hot day, with a whole cheesecake. They were very nice about it and offered to box it up and hold it in their freezer until we could come back and pick it up on the way back to our hotel.
Anyway, the factory floor tour is not all that great because you can only see the decorating and packing area, not the baking or mixing areas, and you can't take any photos back there, and the tour group is basically standing in a passageway that the factory workers like to use on their breaks. The day we were there, the workers were on lunch break for most of the tour time anyway.
So - you do get a slice of cheesecake with the tour, and you might win more than that. I really didn't think it was all that great as a factory tour, it was difficult to plan for since it was not reservable, and we ended up with more than we bargained for. But the cheesecake was pretty darn good.Listed in: A Week in Chicago

Disappointingly, I came up here with my parents for their tasting event at 1pm on Father's Day and for some reason they didn't have it. The lady at the counter just said "No, we're not doing that today."
BUT, I give them three stars because 1. after tweeting about my sad experience, the President of Eli's sent me an email that same afternoon and apologized. Now that's classy. And 2. their "Sweet Imperfections" section is amazing. Slightly quirky cheesecakes at amazing prices that all taste great.
I would try them again...but I'll definitely call first. -

This is a great place to get a great deal on cheesecakes and various desserts. One great buy are the sheets of bite-sized cheescake squares for $10. On another note, stay away from the coffee it is awful!!!

Cheesecake paradise! This is one of the hidden gems located outside of Chicago that is a perfect experience for couples and families alike. They offer a tour of the bakery on the weekday for $3 dollars which includes a slide show, Q/A, a walk into the main decorating area. In addition your 3 dollars will get you a ticket for the raffle that occurs during the tour where one lucky individual will win a free 9 inch cheesecake that will be decorated with 4 toppings for free, a chance to win a free slice of individual cheesecake by answering questions during the slide show, and a free slice of cheesecake based on what they bring out after the tour. The whole experience last about 1 hour. The tour itself is limited to the main decorating area. Call ahead to ensure they are doing the tour. On the day we went, the workers were given a day off after preparing the giant cheesecake at taste of chicago so no production was being done. The actual baking area is off limits though. No cameras in the production area.
For the cheesecakes, the sweet imperfections are a bargain price. We bought a 9 inch first quality cheese cake and 2 smaller cheesecakes for 20 dollars (sweet imperfection ones). You can't get better than these prices. Also on there is a cafe where you can eat if you are hungry with okay prices and dessert items.
On the weekends, they do not have the tour, but a free sampling event. I have not been to this, but I believe that it probably a good experience nevertheless
Pros- wide selection of cheesecake, cheap tour, friendly staff
Cons- none
Hidden deals- 10% off on all items after the tour. Also frequent savings which add up. Check the calender for the warehouse sale which is heavily discounted cheesecakes even compared to normal. Make sure you go on the tour!Listed in: Fun Things to Do in Chicago

Delivery across the nation? Hell yeah!
I am in sunny CA and just enjoyed my first ever Eli's Cheesecake! Got the sampler pack, which comes with 3 slices each of turtle, original, white chocolate raspberry, and apple. My fave by far is apple, which comes with this delicious crumble topping and chunks of apple in the cheesecake center.
My fiance enjoyed the original and the turtle best. Neither of us are really white chocolate fans per se, so the raspberry came last.
Did I mention they ship across the nation?Listed in: Cupcakes! Pastries! Donuts!

I can't tell you how disappointed in myself I truly am for having lived MINUTES from this gem for years and not stepping foot in it until today. In my defense, I did believe it was only a factory for a while--since it's set a bit further back from the roadside, I didn't see the "Cafe and Bakery" lettering along the side.
I went here using a Groupon (Are you sensing a pattern here? My profile told you that I live off discount websites, and it wasn't lying). Even though they're in on the deal, many businesses do not seem receptive to their Groupon clientele. I used to think that this might be due to the fact that the coupons could be difficult to process, but since my own employer struck a deal with Groupon, I know that is not the case. The coupons are a cinch to process and manage, and Groupon customers are great!
Not only is this place polite to discounted customers...they actually rewarded me for participating in their 'deal' by offering me 15% off coupons for my next visit!
I went for their lunch special, which was a turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich on ciabatta. The sandwich was ok--the ingredients were fresh and tasted good, but as another reviewer mentioned, there was no mayo or sauce of any kind which was a bit odd. What made it worth it was that it came with a free dessert of my choice--chocolate chip cheesecake, yum! In addition, I purchased some more desserts, exceeding my Groupon limit, and leaving a satisfied customer.
Oh, and has there EVER been a sweeter, more accommodating service person than the girl who works behind this counter??? She was fantastic and made my experience as a newbie that much better. She will make me a repeat customer!
So why not 5 stars? I already mentioned the sauceless sandwich...fine, I can deal, it's a cheesecake cafe. But there was some kind of trivia game going on that was taking up the entire dining area, eliminating my option to lunch there. My observation was that Eli's could have consolidated their audience a bit (there were many tables with just 1-2 people sitting at them) and made room for customers. I unexpectedly had to take my lunch to go since they hadn't done so. -

Eli's is surprisingly a lot more than just cheesecake. They have a wide variety of desserts as well as breakfast and lunch items.
I work nearby so it's actually a favorite lunch spot for me. Their Cuban sandwich is delicious and after getting chips and a free slice of cheesecake or a big cookie, I easily get two meals out of the sandwich. The carved turkey sandwich is tender and juicy and, while I've never had it, my friend loves the three cheese melt. Their cheesecakes are smooth and creamy and I find them to be a bit lighter than one might think. If you like shortbread, definitely try theirs--it's rich and buttery, just like it should be.
While I've seen the variety of treats in their display cases, I had no idea how much variety was in their cheesecake coolers until tonight. I stopped by after work to get a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving--turns out they had at least 5 types of pumpkin ones to choose from (I got pumpkin pie). Those alone took up one out of like 8 upright cases and there's still a bunch of chest coolers filled with even more cheesecakes. And compare the prices of said cheesecakes in store to those online--they're half the price. Practically a steal if you can make it here.
The only qualm I have is that if you try to eat there during lunch, expect to have your your meal interrupted around 1pm by the factory tour starting up. The place is never busy for lunch, but I'm disappointed they don't have a conference room or somewhere else for tour participants to go to instead of the cafe, where people might be trying to eat and carry on conversations with their companions. -

I came across this place on Yelp and made the drive from NW Indiana.
I had the smoked honey baked ham sandwich and a slice of pumpkin pie cheese cake. Both were good. The sandwich was complimented by chips.
There was an assortment of cheesecakes and large cookies also.
Besides sandwiches salads are also available! -

Mecca? is that.... is that you?!!?!?
May I present my favorite product from Eli's: Cheesecake on a stick, (called, Dippers) dipped in chocolate. Ay Papi!
This has to rival my other favorite: The Cheesecake Factory.. and secretly, the cheesecake served during my hospital stay in Southern Oregon last year.. Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!. Prices, very reasonable, all kinds of variety of cheesecake but also other baked goods are offered. Now, Vamos!! -

If one of your top 3 favourite desserts happen to be cheesecake, please for the love of god be careful before coming here. You will be so tempted by the ridiculous number of flavours (Blood orange Champagne, Capuccino Hazelnut and Chocolate Caramel Pecan just to name a few) that you will be physically restraining yourself from tearing open a package right there in the store and gnawing on a frozen one. (frozen, of course, being the best way to eat cheesecake IMO).
But, if you happen to be friends with the one or two completely insane people that for some highly suspicious reason say they "dislike" cheesecake (I still think they have one hidden in the back of their freezer, cuz who in their right mind doesnt like it? Thats just crazy talk, yo), they also sell brownies, tiramisu, and cookies.
I just got back from the dock sale and got a full pan of peppermint brownies, A strawberry and 2 Bailey's flavour cheesecakes for office Christmas gifts for the paltry sum of $25. But if you can't or don't want to make the trip out to the store, you can always order online.
And just for the record, I didnt tear open any packages when I was there, but I did see a guy double fisting 2 cheesecakes-on-a-stick while trying to balance 7 whole cakes in line. That was rather impressive.Listed in: Where to go on the FAR…

Scrumptious!! That is how I can sum up Eli's world famous cheesecake...This is what a cheesecake is supposed to taste like! I was in Chicago recently and I made it a point to stop by Eli's factory store and pick up my favorite strawberry cheesecake...But they also have a wide variety of other baked delicacies from cakes to brownies.. Anything to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours! I love it so much I stocked up on several frozen cheesecakes to take back home to Cali to share with my family and friends! They agree, Eli's cheesecakes are OFF THE HOOK!!

Oh god, it's soooooo goooooood!!!! This is definitely one of our hit up places when family and friends come to town for a visit. Their tours are awesome, especially for only $3/person. You don't get to see a whole lot on the tour due to safety issues, but trust me... The tour's DEFINITELY worth it!
So what could be even more awesome than a cheesecake factory with cheap tours? Well, they have tons of desserts (yes, they make more than just cheesecake) with minor cosmetic issues for dirt cheap. I was able to cater an event with dessert for at least 100 hungry people for around $30. I'll definitely be hitting up Eli's for my wedding. -

Why is Eli's not busier? I don't get it. This is like total desert heaven and here's why:
1) Huge variety of cheesecakes available by the slice. Cake, cookie, cupcakes also available. The chocolate hazelnut cupcake is one of the best cupcakes I've ever inhaled.
2) Cheesecake and other deserts w/ slight imperfections (i.e. - I can't see anything) available at a discount.
3) Coffee, salads, sandwiches, free wifi!
4) Quiet spacious area to work.
Eli's is awesome. Check it out if you're in the area! -

Two words: Dock Sale!!
But if you can't make it to that, keep in mind that their prices here are extremely reasonable anyway.. compared to the nasty-tasting cheesecake that is found at most supermarket freezers or 'bakeries.' Some supermarkets do carry Eli's but they charge an arm and a leg! It's worth it because it's delicious, but save yourself some money and come here!! The Sweet Imperfections are in great shape and don't have slices missing... buy it, you'll thank me later! There's also different pastries, sandwiches, drinks.. It's a great place to try for lunch.Listed in: How to Get Fat

It's all about the cheesecake.
I'd buy this cheesecake if it was doubled in price. The fact that you can get the "Sweet Imperfections" at sometimes half price just doesn't make any sense. Why are they taunting me??
The little cafe at the front of the store has world-class coffee, free samples and a nice display of slices of cheesecake. Oh, then go shopping for the deals. Yum. -

I honestly can't say that I've dined at this location, but I have had cheesecake from Eli's.
Though nothing spectacularly memorable in taste, I am a definite fan of their holiday promotion in gaining donations (monetary and food) for the Chicago Food bank. Being there during the Chicago Lights Festival, Eli's did a promotion of either getting a free slice of cheesecake in exchange for a food donation or get a whole 7in cheesecake for a $10 donation to the Food Bank.
Of course I gave up my $10. And though I definitely had tastier cheesecake treats, what I also liked about Eli's was that their 7inch cheesecake came pre-cut. Great bonus for us as it made it easier to open that bad boy up and take a bite. We really didn't need any utensils...just napkins!Listed in: CHI-town Yelpin'

A great place for cheesecake (duh) or just having a casual lunch with friends.
The place has table sets for customers who wants just stay there rela and have a nice, tasteful chocolate moose cheesecake with a cup of coffee.
I usually go there to buy Cheesecakes (they offer 50% for the ones that are damaged). It is one of the places I would like to show my friends when they visit. -

Did someone say Cheesecake? I sure hope so! Eli's is already well know as a brilliant maker of cheesecakes and their local factory is no exception. I happen to be lucky (or unlucky) enough to live down the street from here and let me tell you this is the first place I go for cheesecake. While location is more similar to a factory outlet type store that sit-down restaurant but, they do have a small cafe next to the actual factory. It's pretty cool, as you can see the workers making actual cheesecakes and desserts. The cafe portion has some sandwiches and stuff, but the real attraction is the dessert. With so many types of cheesecakes to choose from it's a wonder I'm not getting fatter by the second.
Pros: Huge Variety of Cheesecakes, Lots of parking
Cons: Eating too much cheesecake
Cost: $$ of 5
Overall Rating: 4.25 of 5
Recommendation: Highly Recommended -

Well first, it is near my house and second, the magic of dock sales.
Mark Shulman loves what he does and the staff loves to watch people love their products. I don't eat rich stuff like this except if it comes from Eli's.
You can stop for a sandwich, cookies, cheesecake and coffee in the front, which is a really nice place to hang. you can buy first quality and seconds. They host our local farmers market and have parties for local groups (Kiwanis, schools) and wine tastings. But sign up for the dock sales; you'll be such a hit it ain't funny. But DO sign up.
The area around Eli's is booming. almost recession-proof, realty is high and NOT coming down in the area, and you can see why (well yeah: you're near my place, for one).
One last nudge: you'll be very near Maurice Lenell cookies on Harlem. Visit the factory store and sample it all. -

this place is a factory. you can go on a tour. but we missed it, you have to come at the right time, or book ahead.
as for their cheesecake, its better than Cheesecake Factory in Cali.
try their cheesecake one a stick. one of my favorite is their tiramisu
would have given it 5 stars, but the service was pretty bad.
you dont have to come here, there are grocery stores that carry their products, like Dominick's & Jewel-Osco, that way, you don't have to deal with the crappy workers. -

This is a great place for a quick snack. The menu has salads, sandwiches and lots and lots of pastries to choose from. I was surprised to find that they serve blueberry scones for only $2.00 and Might Leaf Tea for $1.50.
The best part is buying Eli's Cheesecake baked goods at a discount. I have found a few items here that most retail stores do not carry.

Mmm....I had the Turtle Trio Cheescake and it was very good, almost too rich if that is possible for cheesecake. Usually cheesecake in the United States is so botched, but this is pretty good stuff. The cheesecake I have had in Germany, made with quark, is even better though, lighter with all of the same taste. Italian cheesecake, made with ricotta is very good as well. I think German and Italian cheesecake is a little healthier than the American version
Eli's is good for an occasional indulgence, but I couldn't eat it on a regular basis! -

Overall, this is a place that everyone should experience. I came here for a factory tour and it was a great time. There was a farmers market in the parking lot, the artistry on the walls is very entertaining, and best of all, there is cheesecake! The cafeteria is phenomenal and is a place where one could get lost. Make sure, if you are buying something, to check out the stuff in the coolers...its discounted. Anyways, the tour had a ton of interesting facts and trivia and the factory is a marvel to gaze at. Not to mention that as a souvenir, you get a slice of cheesecake and a hair net!

How do I love Eli's Cheesecake World? Let me count the ways:
1) The prices. Really, a 9-inch cheesecake for 7.99? You could pay that much for a slice at some restaurants. The "seconds" section is heaven to me -- the cheesecake might have a crack in it, or be slightly browner on one side. Who cares, it still tastes amazing.
2) The flavors. Usually I'm boring and go for basic chocolate chip, but they have some fun flavors that are worth trying.
3) The variety. If cheesecake is not your thing there are brownies, cakes, and delicacies of almost all types.
4) The atmosphere. Unlike many factory stores, it isn't ugly and scary. There are friendly people working there who like to help you. As a bonus there is a quaint cafe where you can get a meal or just a nosh. The centerpiece is the Cheesecake Cow from Cows on Parade. In the summer there is a farmers market on Thursdays.
5) All their products are certified Kosher. Not a big deal to me under usual circumstances, but if I'm coordinating an event at my temple I can get sweets here and save lots of time and money.
Dang, now I'm craving cheesecake. Fortunately, I have some in the freezer....mmmm. -

A cake serves 12-14 which is good insurance if the recipient's family intercepts it while she is out. I couldn't decide between chocolate caramel pecan, chocolate chip, and Heath bar cheesecakes. My best friend loves cheesecake so I've been buying her one for her birthday for the last couple of years. The chocolate lover's sampler is amazing for someone who loves cheese and chocolate. Too bad the cost of ordering then shipping it from Chicago is almost several times as much as buying one in person.

Review from Jack P.
So I returned for a mid-summer's al fresco lunch. Met a friend from the 'burbs there since it was quite a good equi-distant rendezvous spot. We both had sandwiches. They have a nice, varied sandwich and salad menu. They even have a cuban sandwich, but not on this occasion, since they were out of ham. I ordered the Reuben, which was really quite good. I probably could have passed on the potato chips which looked like the last batch of crumbs from the bottom of the bag that your little brother left in the bag, instead of just finshing them. My friend Steve had the Turkey club which was served on a very fresh large white sub-type roll instead of in the usual wedges. He said it was OK but needed more mayo. I made the same observation about the Reuben-a little dry, could of used of some dressing or a dip. But the sandwiches, which are around $6.75 come with a free serving of dessert! So you get to select a pastry or a piece of the basic cheesecakes-such a deal!
Now if I ever get around to the lists here, this one goes on the where-to-buy-dessert-when-you-are-on-the-dessert committee-for-the-potluck list. While I am a cook, I am not a pastry chef, so I always but a dessert when requested to bring one to a dinner party or pot luck. Besides the cheesecakes (again, as low as $7-8.00 a piece), they have beautiful small cakes, pastries and cookies, which are half the price of some of the neighborhood specialty bakeries such as Sel Marie in Lincoln Square. So, to me, its worth the 20-minute drive out here to find something fun, inexpensive AND delicious to bring as a guest gift. They also carry great little house gifts like Belgian chocolate, and Egyptian vanilla, when you're out to impress a friend who cooks with things exotic.
So make a little road trip out here one fine summer day. You AND your wallet won't regret it.Listed in: Cheap Eats I Have Known and…, Gifting 101, The Url of Sandwich, Great lunch specials, Old Lady Places

I can't even understand why I have never tried taking advantage of coming to Eli's since wright is nearby. Nonetheless, after taking my math test last Saturday, my sister and I decided to stop by here to pick up some sweets.
Holy Moley! There is such a wide variety of delicious looking desserts upon entering the cafe all the way to the back of the store. I was truly entranced. Wait...then I started rummaging through the fridges and ended up at the sweet imperfections section and went crazy! (Okay, that's when I was truly entraced). Dippers for a dollar?! Are you kidding me, I couldn't pass that up for the world! If my sister wasn't in such a rush I would've persuaded her that the whole crate worth of it was a good investment! I knew I had to contain myself so I grabbed the dippers and went towards the freshly baked decadent desserts counter. Noooo, tiramisu, key lime cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, cupcakes, freshly baked huge cookies (beat that starbuck - you thought I haven't noticed you been skimping on the sizes of your cookies!) ....ah there's so much more. Terri, just get the dippers....Okay..I will, wait, Oh nooo....okay Um, can I please get a slice of the key lime and chocolate mousse. (hehe, why not, it was calling for me).
So...my sister and I ended up with:
Sweet imperfections dippers, a whole sweet imperfection chocolate chip cheesecake, a slice of key lime and chocolate mousse cheesecake, and a carved turkey sandwich (Awesomely delicious sandwich).
Our server Stephanie was the greatest! She was so patient and friendly. She's probably the kindest behind the counter server I have ever met (that fifth star is for her)! The whole place is wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and extremely helpful in making recommendations.
Also, I read that they host farmer's market days and have special events on certain days, they have a tour guide (you can call in to make arrangements), a spacious cafe in the inside and when the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy your food as well and they make birthday cakes (well, cheesecake birthday cake)!
This totally beats spending 5 bucks for a slice of cheesecake at the cheesecake factory. I can't wait to come back with Tony and Tamia. They both have a huge sweet tooth (ahh, the perks of having family members that enjoys desserts!)
Wonderful service, extremely reasonably priced, great food and desserts and a good place to hang out to catch up on your reading/homework, and free wifi! =) -

Come on, admit it. Just hearing the word CHEESECAKE made you drool, right? You will be floating on a cloud when you walk in this place. There is a nice little dining area where you can munch out on the latest rave cheesecake variety, or just enjoy a sandwich or drink. The best thing are the deals - cheesecakes for up to half the price of the grocery stores! Always a nice staff of folks and some great eye candy here. (I was referring to the cheesecake, not the staff. Although they are pretty cute too :)

Best cheesecake you can find is at Eli's. I recommend you go during a dock sale for insanely good prices. If you can't make one of those, you can always go and get some of the "sweet imperfections". Most of the time, you can't even tell what is wrong with them. My personal favorites are the chocolate chip, strawberry, and oreo ones...in no particular order... Well, actually strawberry at the top.

The tour is fantastic,. My second time through the tour as we brought friends and family thi time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Gosh, i don't remmber the tour guide we had yesterday March 25th, but she so informative. More so, than the last tour we went on over a year ago. And hlarious, the groups were in stitches!
We had the lunch. very good and not expensive. However the meatblall sandwich i had was a bit 'watery' this time. Overall, a nice atmosphere to relax, gain some facts about the company and chicago, and watch how a terrifically delicious cheesecake begins! I didn't know egss came without shells! Dod you know Eli's makes 12,000 cheescakes a day! Decorations are all handmade! Put that in perspective, way affordable than what you would buy from a name brand frozen food company. These are made here in Chicago and FRESH!
EVERYONE needs to come here if not for the cheesecake, at least for the tour! -
