Review from Ernest P.
Ellicott City, MD
Would have been a solid 4 star review but must be bumped up to 5 stars for BYOB!! It is truly like eating home cooked food as if you were actually in the cook'sr home. Just a few tables, just a few items on the menu but everything really tasty.
The vegetarian option that night was the sampler. We tried to order two (at only $10 each) but our hostess/waitress/owner/cook told us to only get one. How sweet! It came out quickly and we devoured the whole thing. Perhaps thinking that we might still be hungry she brought out a bit more tomato salad for us. Nice gesture.
We lingered over our bottle of wine (offering our hostess a glass, which she politely declined) watching BET on the large flatscreen and enjoying this unique dining experience in a somewhat forgotten stretch of Baltimore (long live Pigtown!)
Call ahead might be recommended as the menu is limited at times, depending on time and day of the week. -

Home cooked Ethiopian served up generously as if you were family. Just be sure to check their hours.
Stand alone, it might be viewed as a hit-or-miss family-owned hole in the wall. In context however, your Pigtown neighbors will tell you that vacant store fronts have been the norm, and after the loss of a few much loved coffee shops and restaurants, little Elfegne fills us with more than food.
Try their vegetarian platter with a friend or bring a few more and sample from a couple dishes. If you're a fan of strong coffee, be sure to have them brew you up some.
delicious food, a warm and friendly owner in a cozy little house. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop in. -

Decent Ethiopian food, a friendly owner, and prices you can't beat say it all. I ordered the vegetarian platter for a little over $10, and there was enough food for me and my friend. Great deal. Plus, she ordered the ginger iced tea was a big fan. I'll be going back.

Review from alexander M.
Austin, TX
My only exposure to Ethiopian has been in Austin texas so consider that a caveat. But I thought this place was tasty. I had the veg plate which, while not everything was to my taste, had enough options to keep me satisfied. The funky bread was milder and in my opinion better than what is served at the place in Austin. Coffee was great and the woman working there was lovely and pleasant and didn't mind that I was lugging around an enormou suitcase with me.

Review from Jeff S.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. Don't get me wrong the food was good and there was plenty of it. The reviews here and the ones I have seen elsewhere mention how friendly the owner is. She wasn't rude, but I did come in at an off hour and she was sitting at one of the tables on a laptop, presumably doing paperwork for the restaurant. I got the impression I interrupted her. This is a one person operation and so she had to stop what she was doing, take my order go to the back and cook it and then work the register when I was done. Perhaps it was just a bad time.
Anyway, the food was certainly good. It came out on a pizza sheet size plate with dollops of various vegetable and meat concoctions. All were good if somewhat bland. The meat was less tasty. I assume that tougher cuts are used in Ethiopian cooking, because it was not tender. Also, be warned bones are not always removed so don't just bite indiscriminately into things.
The neighborhood may be a bit sketchy and at a busier time, I'm not sure where one would park.
Overall, I would go back at a more "normal" eating time and see if the food is better then.
