1065 Washington AveStill the best place for a quick lunch or a relaxed Sunday breakfast before the beach. Still a pain to park on Washington at the 'guarded' meters. Burger platter is my fav. for lunch and a good burger, reasonably priced. We go for Sun. Brkfast except in the tourist season when it is packed with hung over, pasty faced, Canadian tourists! Ok. Sorry. We love Canadians...sorta..
TIP: Pancakes, burgers and very good fried chicken is my recommendation!

Speaking as a local, the 11th Street Diner is a great place to get your first meal of the day when you're battling a massive hangover. That is, if you don't mind being surrounded by tourists and having to deal with spotty-service. But then again, it's a diner, so as long as the food is greasy and good, then what do you have to worry about?
That's the case at the 11th St. Diner. The food is good and greasy, and of course, you can get breakfast anytime. Don't be fooled - the place is busy. And full of tourists. But then again, it's at 11th & Washington - prime SoBe tourist central.
The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've had since I left the midwest. Their fried chicken is crunchy and moist, and very yummy. Their mac & cheese is very cheesy and yummy. They also have chicken and waffles - but be warned - the chicken is only wings, which seemed to offend the table behind me on a recent visit who got up and left when told that was what they ordered, since that's exactly what the menu described...
The prices are more tourist-oriented than classic diner, but for the people-watching alone, it might be worth it. Last time I was there, an entire tour group paraded through, complete with matching stickers to show their group pride.
Just a note - this place was just recently featured on "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" on the Food Network - so it may draw even more people than it already does...

This is a REAL diner, basic greasy spoon style. Nothing fancy and no surprises. I like these kind of places because you really can't go wrong. Their french toast was good, not great, but their corned beef hash was great! We got a couple of poached eggs & slapped those babies on top...mmmmm.

Total diner experience, but you can't go wrong. Been here a million times. Almost everything is consistently good. Try to sit on the back patio.

Something's happened and the 11th Street Diner isn't nearly as good as it used to be. For one thing, the menu seems to have been edited, and the service is still horrible, but there wasn't the usual melange of locals, club kids, workers, tourists, and Europeans the last time I was in attendance. As usual, the outdoor patio is buggy with no-see-ums or some other type of biting insect. There are now seats out on the sidewalk on 11th Street if you want to be that close to the action.
One thing I do not like about the 11th Street diner: the omelettes are "folded," with the fillings unmelted and sometimes unheated inside a great frisbee of a omelette. If I wanted a plain omlette with some ingredients piled on it, I'd order that, but I prefer my omlette ingredients integrated into the dish. Anyway, fries are decent, but inconsistent. Wings, both BBQ and Honey, are very good.
The milkshakes are a little on the watery side, but they're decent. Burgers are good here, but not orgasmic. Salads are hit or miss. Basically you can never be sure if the food will be great diner fare or very mediocre, but most people come to 11th Street for the experience, convenience, and late-night hours.

Great place for brunch, where my boyfriend could have breakfast and I could have a BLT. And not a everyday, run-of-the-mill BLT either -- it was loaded with applewood smoked bacon and large fresh slices of avocado (a little extra) on toasted rye. It was stacked so high that my boyfriend didn't think I would be able to take a bite.
Sit inside the authentic shiny diner car or on the outside covered patio with ceiling fans. It's a good bet for a satisfying breakfast the morning (or afternoon) after.

Excellent food. Horrible service. Unfortunately so typical for South Beach.
So close to our hotel; therefore, we ended up grabbing a couple of meals here this past week AND taking food to-go for the plane ride home (note the take out fee of 75-cents). Great swiss and mushroom burger, though a tad greasy. The crinkle cut fries were excellent (we added salt to taste, but they were golden and perfect otherwise). I also liked the turkey club (we added swiss and avocado to their basic version). The mac 'n cheese as a side dish was creamy and yummy. Good iced tea, too. The reason I didn't give a perfect rating? Simply: the service. The waiters on each visit were slow and not motivated by the prospect of a high tip since, in true South Beach style, 18% tip is automatically tacked onto the bill. Great decor and atmosphere. Typical diner menu with all of the favorites. Definitely worth a visit. Open late-night (for an after-the-clubs-stop).

Nice little classic diner. Good food, excellent breakfast burrito served with fresh salsa, got a side of hash browns as well that were very good. Coffee was good. Service was a little slow, but apparently they were short a server the morning we went.

You tell me what could be more heavenly and downright lifesaving than a tuna melt and beer at 6 am after dancing til your feet are throbbing stubs and your ears are ringing with tinnitus? Miami, you spoil me!

across from our hotel, SUPER friendly wait staff ( even gave me extra placemats take home) ...
+ best breakfast, cheap, just the right amount of greasy.
note: try MALT PANCAKES.

Great fried chicken - you literally get 1/2 chicken on your plate + sides. This place offers thanksgiving dinner special as well... just like most diners. I dont eat much sweats so i cant say if their desserts are good or not.
This place rocks! I had the Lasagna Special and my daughter had their award winning Southern Fried Chicken with a side of macroni and cheese; strawberries and bananas. They have a full 24/7 comfort food menu that includes breakfast at any time; sandwiches and dinner entrees which you can pick from a list of sides (macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, sweet potato fries, a small salad and many others). However, I must admit the waiter walked buy with someone's burgers and fries and the burger looked very good.
There is a main dining room, outside patio and a side dinning room. It's very casual as most diners are. You can enter either through the front entrance on 11th, the patio or the side dinning room door on Washington. You're on your own for parking on the South Beach meters. Be sure and feed the meter! The service on the weekdays was excellent and the tip is automatically added to the bill like most SOBE restaurants.
Lastly, this is on my repeat list because we had the chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. This was the best chocolate cake I've had in Miami. The frosting was so thick it felt like I was eating straight from the bowl!

Built in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1948, it served the local populace there until 1992, when two New Yorkers dismantled it, moved it south, reassembled it, and opened for business. This is as authentic as a diner gets, and the menu is the real deal - roast turkey with stuffing, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, club sandwiches, burgers and fries, and shakes. Open 24 hours a day and - not surprisingly, being it's in South Beach - it's busiest from midnight to 6:00am. Surprisingly - being it's in South Beach - it's very inexpensive.
