I'm so sick of reading reviews for places where the person says they had a terrible time because drinks were expensive or they were hassled for attire or had to pay a cover.  This is effing Los Angeles, not Omaha, Nebraska okay?
I don't care if you are a guy or girl, if you are going out for a night of drinks and dancing, dress the part.  It is your own fault if you don't.  For guys - button up shirt and dress shoes.  It's not that hard.  And yes, expect to pay $14+ for a drink.  That's life.  And expect to pay to get in, even if you are a "hot girl."  Being attractive doesn't make you Jesus, these places are businesses that need to make money.
Okay, now on to my review of Elevate: awesome!  The view is second to none except maybe Rooftop Bar at the Standard.  It was also nice that there is like an open air patio built into the 21st floor.  We got bottle service (2 bottles of Goose for $500 = NOT BAD AT ALL).  We got right in, no problems at the door.  Crowd was excellent.  Music was good, we danced all night.  Overall, I can't find one thing to complain about this place.  Went with a group of about 20 and everybody had the time of their life.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This is the WORST place to go to. The only good thing that Elevate has to offer is the view. The view of the city is beautiful...but that is all that I would say is good.

Where should I begin?!? The drinks are expensive, the bouncers and managers are rude, the crowd is not diverse @ all, the music is NO good, and the drinks are expensive. They make the majority of the crowd wait downstairs FOREVER and ONLY want to let people in if they buy bottle service. The wait is NOT necessary at all!

There are so many great places in LA to visit, please do not waste  your time at Elevate Lounge. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Straight up? The three stars are for the view. The view is awesome.  My favorite thing about LA clubs so far has been that they're primarily high up with great city views.

As far as the food, the crowd, the price etc, I was just there for a private Microsof event, so I knew the crowd.  The food was acceptable- definitely not delicious (but free, since it was an event). Probably because they were doing the large event the sushi wasn't of the same quality as it would've been in the restaurant next door.

On the upside the volume is actually pretty low, which made talking easier, and the bar wasn't interrupting the middle of everything.

Really....whoever thought of the idea of taking pictures inside of a night club should be shot!

What LOSER wants their picture taken in a night club.....!?

View was nice and drinks were okay no complaints but I can't stand the flash going off inside of a night club F***ING annoying!

Admittedly, I haven't gone out in a while, especially in LA, so I kind of forgot awful (and fun!) it can be. Fortunately, we had no problems getting in, since we just had dinner at Takami Sushi. I'm not sure if there's usually a cover, but we had entry tickets so we didn't have to pay anything. The place is laid out in an awkward L shape and the dance floor is about the size of my living room. There were also people with video cameras filming which was kind of weird.

Of course, drinks were pricey - on par with all LA clubs, so no surprises there. The music was good pop/hip hop and the crowd was pretty mixed and on the older side the night we went. I guess that's a good thing, since I'm sadly closer to 30 than 21 these days. Despite the name, there weren't many places to lounge since most of the tables were reserved.

It's doubtful that I would go back especially when there are so many other great places downtown.

I've been to Elevate on 3 other occasions about a yr back and I've never had a very good time there.  This last time around prompted me to write as they kept me outside for 30-40 minutes when there was a grand total of 5 people waiting outside.  They hassled me over shoes.  They made me wait when no one else was around.  I stood patiently and after that, they tried to charge me a $20 cover (even though i was on the guestlist) when there was only a little over a hr left before the bar closed.  Not to mention that while I stood outside, I saw the regular crowd and I was NOT going to pay a cent for cover to hang out there.  Lastly, they need to recognize this is downtown still...they can't get away with charging $10+ drinks and $20 cover.  If this is what downtown offers, stay in Hollywood.

I can't decide if Elevate should be 3 or more stars.  While it isn't the greatest club scene, it wins major points for being unique.  I used this venue to celebrate a special occassion by starting at Takami, then making our way over to Elevate a few months back.

Both Takami and Elevate are located high atop an office building, so the view alone sets an ambience.  Takami has good sushi, and Elevate keeps decent DJ's.  You won't be unhappy you came, but everyone I know feels the place is nothing to write home about.  All in all, I think it's worth checking out just to do something different.  It works as a date spot, there is usually no over that I know of, and the open air, high above the city vibe really feels sexy.  Nice date spot.

never. ever. again. my friends decided to head to this club a month or so ago because a friend of theirs happens to be a bartender there.

let's just say I was less than enthused to go in the first place. I've heard abut the vibe of this place and ive heard how the patrons tend to be on the less than classy i.e. ghetto side.

well, myself, two girls, and two guys approach the bouncer and the bouncer rudely tells a guy friend of mine that he "cannot be letting people in dressed like that," suggesting his t-shirt was not up to par to the "classiness" of this joint.  Ok, fine.  but unfortunately not a minute later a group of people, black, come up to the bouncer. I once the exchange among them and it is obvious they are not friends with the bouncer nor are they getting a table, or whatever...HOWEVER, the bouncer lets them in without a blink of an eye, despite the fact that two, yes two guys are wearing t-shirts.

fuck that.

racism, or preference for a race, or whatever u want to call it is fucked up regardless of which race is singled out.  do not go here.

We had blast the first time we came to Elevate Lounge. Came here right after the laker game during the western conference finals. No problems entering this nice spot. Intimate rooftop lounge with a amazing view of downtown. Good size dance floor so you can get your dance on. Diverse crowd. Great vibes from everyone. Expensive drinks.

I was totally enjoying myself before my friend started to look sick.. I didn't really pay much attention to him at first because he seemed like he was cooool, chit chattin', drinking, dancing , walking around the place with a smile on his face! Until he sat down and was just silent. You know the look. Sitting down, eyes closed, hands folded, mouth slightly open looking like puffy daddy, with a serious face telling people to "sssshhhhhhh"!

me:  "You can't tell people to sshhh in a club setting like this. Its party time!

Drunk homie:  "Shhhh Chris. Just Shhhh"

me to other homie:  "This ain't gooood Tino!

buzzed me to drunk homie: "Let me know if you wanna go to the bafffvrooom and throw up, ok? Just don't throw up here in the open, ok?

puffy daddy look alike: "yes"

.. Moments later... Yackity yack action all over the flooooor.. YUCK!

Bouncer: "BOUNCE!"

Out the door we goooooo. Fun times!

My first time going out in downtown LA.. The view from the 21st floor was definitely unique for the club compared to other ones I've been to!  I enjoyed the spacious air coming through the open windows of the city view.  It was just gorgeous and amazing!

Venue: Definitely not as big as a club can be but it is a lounge.. Dark atmosphere and lighting of course.  Bouncer at the front telling you, you need a stamp if you are coming from Takama Restaurant across the hall or you need to go back downstairs to get a wristband...couches and tables around the club. Bathroom has 3 stalls with a cleaner up front. very friendly..

Line: If you don't want to wait in line. why don't you just say you want to go to the restaurant side, grab some drinks and get a stamp/wristband to hop onto the lounge.. easy breezy!  That's what we did when it was 5 minutes before restaurant closing!

Drinks: average city-like prices.. pretty strong especially for the shots amount.. bartenders are very friendly *wink* just work it girls.. haha

Valet: available for around $20 though! Quick and convenient

Music: top notch = r&b/ hip hop/ top billboards.. kept me pumping throughout the whole night that's for sure! You will hear the tremendous bass going on in the hallway and bathroom though. It seems like the place was about to explode.

People: Very diverse.. Not your usual SF/SJ crowd.. everyone was dressed up more.. just like out of The Hills or something! but there were no pretty fishes for me to look at :/ haha

Can't wait to go back to downtown LA nightlife!

Came here quite often last year usually on Thursday nights and always had a fun time - no cover, drinks were made well, DJ was good, big enough dance floor, and crowd would be alright (about half of them coming out of work or some work activity).  Then this year I came on a Friday after a work event (no cover) and it was much more crowded and random with people dressed like their going out to the clubs in Hollywood (I'd like to think downtown crowds would be classier... at least not that night)!  On another night I took some girlfriends on a Thursday night and the dancefloor was empty but still had fun taking it over and having the DJ play all of our requests.

Now, I hear this place has closed off over 50% of their dance floor (which wasn't big to begin with) and some patio area due to the slow down in the economy and to make the place look more crowded!?  One of the reasons I enjoyed this place was it being on the top floor of the highrise and you'd get nice views of downtown.  If they're going to block off the venue to make it look like a more happening place, no thanks - I'll go elsewhere.  Based on the recent change I would give this place a lower rating, but it still gets a 3 from the several good times I've had.

I went here with a bunch of girlfriends for a bachelorette party. We ate at the Sushi joint next door and ended up here soon after. It's a small place but there's room to breathe, a dance floor, a bar, and pretty mixed crowds. They played pretty good music too! Oh and some seating area as well! Normally, at most places its hard finding a place to rest, but you can certainly take a breather if you need to. It's a pretty environment and not overly crowded that you can't walk anywhere or have room to dance.

Racist club, DON'T"T GO!!!The ginger bouncer in the entrance was a total Jerk, my girlfriend and her sister got in before me, so I had to meet them upstairs, but that stupid bouncer on the entrance decided that I had to be accompanied by a girl in order to get in, WTF!!!, I never heard of something like this in m whole life, I guess that they count how many guys and girls get in and don't let have the club overcrowded with guys, I supposed, they were doing the same to a couple of guys behind me, that's so racist, finally my girlfriend had to come down and told the guys that she knew the guy that manages the club and let me get in.
Drinks are overpriced, the dj is ok, and the crowd is mixed but Asians are the majority.
F*** w this place!!!!

I went for a birthday a few weeks ago and I was a little disappointed. I think this place is way over hyped. Don't get me wrong, its not terrible and I had a pretty good time. The only thing that makes this place special is that its well...high up.
When we first arrived, there were bouncers in front of the building. We got in fine...no trouble. When we got up we had to go through another set of bouncers. Everything went smoothly, but I noticed they gave the people behind us a hard time for no reason. I thought that was pretty lame.
However, Elevate does have awesome views. When I looked out the window, I felt like I was in Vegas. Also, there are lots of corners to sit and lounge. The bar area looked okay too. Music wasn't the best but it was bearable. I like how they have sushi right next door, so you can totally do dinner before or after. Overall it wasn't bad so I'd probably go back sometime soon.

I gave this place a great review in the past, but now I take it all back!!  I went to Elevate on Friday, 8/14/09, and reserved two bottles for the VIP area (I'm no fool, I know that guys usually have to wait forever to get in, and I have no problem with that-- who likes a sausage fest anyways).  But, the door man, even knowing that i had ordered two bottles, was clear out rude!  Hey asked me how many guys were in the group and I told him that there would be 3 other guys.  He then asked the outrageous question:  "How do these guys look like"?  Seeing that I was very offended by this question and was about to walk away, he retracted and stated that he was just asking whether these guys were dressed as well as I was.

Okay, I forgive you, you red-headed, minimum-wage-making, over-sized DOOF!

Then, as I was waiting in my lounge area for my friends, another Einstein bouncer walks up to me and tells me that they were having a fashion show that night and they would need my VIP area until 10:30 p.m. for the models.  Okay, it was 10 p.m. so I decided to bite my tongue and wait for another 1/2 hour.   10:30 came and passed and still no fashion show.  This just did it.  I knew that I would be spending over $800 that night on bottle service, but by now I also knew that not even a penny of that money was going to Elevate.  I demanded my credit card back and bottle service lady was very apologetic.  But, the damage was done and I decided to leave this place for good.

BTW, went down to the Edison afterward where my friends and I had a blast!!

For all the hype it's been given, the lounge is really not that great. I've heard so much about elevate, how the view is beautiful and from the way it seems, it's very exclusive...but all that only built up my expectation. I've been to takami, and I honestly can say that takami has a much better decor, and if I were to grab drinks, i'd rather go to takami. The lounge itself was very small, the view was nice, but nothing you can't get in takami. The music was okay, the crowd was okay, the drinks were weak for what I was paying...and man, the bouncers were so arrogant! I don't know what it is about them, they weren't friendly, they weren't smiley, they were rude and somewhat obnoxious.

I probably wouldn't come here again, if I wanted a "lounge" with a nice view, i'd go to the standard, or blue velvet.

Maybe i'm being harsh, I did have a good time there but for all the expectations..I was very disappointed.

So a friend was having a birthday party, we rsvp via the text thing. Show up at 9:55pm, wait in a line that doesn't move at all for about 20 minutes, then the line starts movin pretty fast and the douchey bouncer hands the 3 girls with us full tickets, and me and my guy friend a half ticket. We're like "Wtf?", the guy says "you need to pay cover, $20", and we're like "What? we were totally here before 10pm" and he responds "I use my memory, and I didn't see you", to which I looked at him and tried hard not to insult as I knew that would not get me further. Quickly discussed it with my friends, and decided we weren't going to pay $20 in order to gain entrance to a place that's going to charge $15/drink... So with our $40 saved, we picked up some booze and had a smashing good time.

Go here if:
You're a girl
You have money you'd like to waste (Also, I'm accepting donations)

Don't go there if:
You can think of somewhere better to be.(including at home)

The bouncers didn't even pretend it was happenin inside and just let us all in right away on a Thursday night. Red flag #1. We then enter the elevator and our fellow male riders proceed to group huddle into a Team Testosterone power-up chant, shouting and fist pumping "GO! GO! GO! GOOOOO!" Okay, if you need to artificially pump yourself up THAT much prior to club entrance, it probably means the place is probably NOT that cool on its own. Red flag #2.

Inside, ya the view of Downtown was nice, and the hanging bird decorations were purty, but it was difficult to overlook the fact that there was NO ONE THERE. Red flag numberrr evacuate ASAP. There was definitely some entertainment value in the middle-aged men practicing their sleaziest poses on the circular plush seats and watching the three people awkwardly move about on the dance floor. We also got really excited when the DJ played "I'm on a Boat," but that excitement lasted approximately 2 minutes.

Maybe Thursdays are not the night to go, but Thursday or not, I'm not sure that I will be returning any time soon. Go! Go! Gooo somewhere else!

Last night was their 2 year anniversary. They had complimentary access for everyone before midnight, and Open Grey Goose Vodka bar from 9:30-10:30, and some light snacks.

I love the atmosphere. It was strange since last night it was a big foggy in LA so it made all the tall buildings look eerie. But after 6 vodka drinks in and could care less about the fog.

Music was ok, I felt like the DJ was toying with us at the beginning, running Shuffle like on my CD player.. play only 5 seconds of a song and switch to something else. It was annoying at first, but he eased up as the night went on and played some fun stuff.

The last time I went was also when they had open bar, so to me this venue is fun. I suggest looking for when they have those events and going. Otherwise I wouldn't bother going to downtown LA when there is Hollywood.

First off, if you are a guy, good luck getting in here. They like to fill this place up with women, not necessarily attractive women, but women none the less!

This is the kind of place to go if you want to wait in line and pay $20 to get in OR pay for bottle service and get your own vip lounge (right next to the dance floor).

I went for a friend's birthday and her boyfriend got bottle service. We didn't have to wait in line, and the guy at the door was cool since I guess my friends knew him. The door guy kind of freaked out though when they found out there were a few guys within our group. We had to sign some page with our names and emails ( for who knows what reason) and then a lady escorted us up in the elevator. We had our own little place to sit, which was nice, and the lounge overlooks downtown.

This place isn't too much my scene, it was fun for a one night thing though. I would definitely not have paid $20 bucks to get in. The music and the crowd is lacking. The actual space though is really nice, and I loved the view. I had fun, but I would have had way more fun if I had my boyfriend with me to enjoy it. I'll go back again...if someone else gets bottle service!

So my friends wanted to go to this place because it's in a skyscraper in downtown LA.. aka nice. We got free entrance to this place since we ate at their restaurant Takami. (I reviewed that place btw.) If you eat there, the waiter will pretty much tell you about it and give you a ticket to get free cover.

So, this place is pretty nice looking. There are plenty of seating areas. The view, awesome. But the music, bad. Mostly techno and trance, something I didn't expect at all, especially in downtown LA. Plus you have to pay for parking. If I'm going to pay for parking, my money best be worth it!

I've been here twice in 1 year... I think its Urban-Chic & quite classy - esp the location - Elevate Lounge & Takami Sushi bar are located on the 21st floor of a downtown LA skyscraper - semi-open-air - what a view!!! Even if it gets chill up there, they  have outdoor heaters & blankets to keep you warm. But I'm guessing you'll have good company to keep you warm there! The waiting area is inadequate but classy, so is the bar area! The staff are neat & suave - they blend well with the ambiance! Valet parking is quite handy, for downtown & its $20. What we do to avoid the queue to Elevate is reserve a table at Takami Sushi bar at the same level, for dinner or drinks. After our meal, we get our wrist stamped & flow into the lounge area w/o a cover, say 10ish. They'll keep your coats/bags in a vault so you don't have to carry them around. White suede sofas & large round/square seats border the slightly-scarce dance floor, but you don't mind the close dancing when the crowd is good & esp since their DJ is amazing! The crowd is multi-cultural - I saw a good mix of Asians, Arabs, Far-Eastern, European, etc.. People there just seem to have a good time.. Partying HARD until dawn!

The sushi selection is great, the saki/sake drink will blow your mind. I had the grilled salmon - which was quite sumptuous & I would also recommend their grilled prawns. The food, overall is decent - mostly tiny portions for a hefty price so be careful what you order - Then again, this place is about the PARTYing more than just the food, so I'll give 'em 4 stars!

Blah! Been here at least 5 times and it is always hit or miss (mostly miss). The only thing this place elevates is your credit card bill!

This place still has the same hoity-toity, pretentious Hollywood Club attitude it had when it first had its Grand Opening. There are always 2 bouncers downstairs, and 2 bouncers right at the elevator when you get up, and unless you're there at 6pm, you have to pay a $20+ cover (even girls), even after waiting in a useless line downstairs on an empty street.

Once you get in, it's dark and weirdly laid out with couches in random locations. Music often sucks. One time the DJ was playing horrible techno mixes of 80's and crap, so I had to go and practically give him a whole hip-hop playlist - and that's when the dance crowd finally started bumpin'.

I've only experienced a mostly ghetto crowd here who like to bump and grind. Its nice to have a huge outdoor space to smoke and enjoy a drink, but their drinks are poorly made, too.

I only come back here because I love the lady who works in the bathroom, and I love the views. I opt to go to Takami Restaurant on the other side, where there is no cover, servers are cute, and you can sit on the lounge chairs outside and look down on the Standard Rooftop.

I was not so impressed with this lounge.. but the nice thing is that we did get in for free since we dined next door at the very cool sushi restaurant (that has no windows and looks out to the downtown area (insert ooooo here)).

The drinks are standard.. about $10.  They didn't open up the whole dance floor.  Usual mix of people..

Don't pay cover.. don't stand in line.. go eat next door!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!

how can people actually think this place is "okay"

i made reservations there for my wifey's bday about a month ago....the person i was exchanging emails with told me it would be 3 bottles minimum for 15 people.....he said we would not need to provide a list of names.....so, ok

get there early, around 10, and there's a pretty decent line......we walk up to the front to the doorman who looks like the old WWF wrestler big bam bigelow.....he gives us attitude for a minute then tells us to wait......wutever......he then opens up the magic rope and makes us wait again on the side........hmmmmm.......if im dropping a G on three bottles, then i would figure a little better treatment from a part time rent-a-cop

we finally get in after another 10 minutes of waiting........and we are escorted to the elevators to the 21st floor.......

once inside, the place was packed!!!!! with a bunch of 40-somethings!!!!!! they were gettin down alright.......to the tunes of kris kross' jump jump......

im not one to judge a crowd, but this was definitely not a "typical" LA night scene im used to

we ordered up a couple bottles of goose and one bottle of crown........once the alcohol started flowin, we just went with the flow and made the best of a bad situation........apparently, they stopped letting in my wife's friends and she had to go down the 21 floors a couple times to ask big bam to allow them in......he kindly obliged, but not after taking 20 bucks a head from them

bottles were crushed by midnight and the wait staff quickly cleaned up  our table area as if they were trying to push us out......ended up dropping more coin at the bar.......

the music they played would have made casey kasem proud......

the crowd was, once again, "different"

oh yea! celebrity siting......i think i saw Rose, the actual survivor from of the Titanic.....she looked stunning in her blue dress.......and looked vibrant at 97 years old!!!!! NO JOKE!!!!!

the view was actually great.......set up was decent.......the place definitely has potential.......but this isn't the NBA draft so potential means nothing

total damage was about $1200.......they add 18% service fee to all bills.......and they had the audacity to add tax on top of everything........i never recall paying a tax for the 10 dollar beers i bought at the bars?!?!?!?!?!? you would think the 400% markup on the bottle of crown was sufficient enough to cover uncle sam

all in all, i really wished we would have done her party at j lounge or edison........but hey! at least you all can learn from my mistake!!!!!

one star for the view!!!!

jyeah!

Karla O. is right. Dinner is reservations only.

We tried to get into the lounge on a Saturday night. We got there extremely early. 9 pm and waited at the front of the line. The security guy would NOT let us in at all. Unless we wanted bottle service. So we were thinking we'll do that just so we can get in. And he said we couldn't because all the reservations were taken already. WTF? Don't tell us we can get in if we got bottle service if there wasn't bottle service to be had!

They were so picky about who they were letting in. Even if we were at the front of the line waiting forever! Definitely not going back!!!

I went to Elevate last night for the first time. I must say I was expecting some negative things like some of the Yelpers said but I was pleasantly surprised. We got there around 11pm. The Valet Parking was $7 which is very good for Downtown Parking. The doorman was awesome and comped the 3 of us[2 girls, 1 guy]. The bouncers inside the venue were very nice as well. Drinks are pretty pricey but you get what you pay for. The music is old school and new school. The crowd is mostly 25+ with few exceptions [party we were with were all under 25]. Everything was ok until this one punk started pushing my boyfriend just because he didn't let him feel up on my best friend. Overall, we had an amazing time and will be going back.

One of my fave spots to hang in Downtown since I avoid the craziness in Hollywood and the Sunset Strip. I love clean modern lines of the venue and the view is nothing to sneeze at! I also love the fact that they have sofas and chairs all over so you can sit!

It is much easier for people to get in Thursdays but I tend to like it best on the weekends, just make sure to get there early if you are a guy!

I'm calling shenanigans on the door politics.

Chrystal B. said it right when she said the 20 dollar cover is not cute.  Note to everyone (and a huge way to save yourself a lot of trouble): RSVP and get on the list to get in for free.  Also, if you arrive near the cut off time (11pm) for the RSVP, you run the risk of getting thrown into the general wait line.  This happened to several people last night who had RSVP'd, but arrived at about 10:55pm. The RSVP grants you free vodka before 9, (but really...who gets anywhere before 9pm?).

I've also never seen security that tight.  Walkie talkies, people with double stamps, people with the one stamp, people with a stamp on the forearm instead of the wrist, half tickets, full tickets, it was a whole weird system.  Glad I dressed decently instead of my normal chucks since this seems to be one of those "dress to impress or you aren't getting in" deals.

With that said, because of my amazing buddies, I had a great time at Elevate.  I'd never been there before, but heard (and read...thanks, yelp!) all about it.

You walk into what looks like a business lobby, and take an elevator up to the 21st floor.  There is a coat check immidately after walking in.  The place is decent in size, I like the idea of it being indoors, but outdoors at the same time (Night at the Roxbury, anyone...?).  People were smoking, but I wasn't bothered by it because it was well ventilated.  Music was what you'd hear on a KIIS-FM type station (think Lady Gaga type tunes), the dance floor was lit up with riveting and alternating colored lights.  There were plenty of couches and tucked away corners to hang out in if you were too tired to dance.

I must say the best part about Elevate was listening to all of the random conversations while waiting in line to use the bathroom.  Also--there's two women's restrooms, one for the general public, and...was it a VIP ladies-only restroom? Still never figured that out...

The crowd (and when I say "crowd" I mean the ladies) was more attractive than I'd expected, kinda wished I was a straight male at the time because that particular night was sort of a twilight zone for great genetics. In all: fun for a Friday night.

FIRE the bouncer! What a f-ing douchebag *u**h*e face who wouldn't let my 1 girl friend in after I waited with her right in front of rope at the VIP line for 40+ minutes.  When I came back downstairs to ask him nicely to let her in for a bday party, he gave me a BF (bitch fit) about what a huuuge pet peeve of his it is to have people pick up their friends from the line and said to me "let me just forget that this conversation ever happened". And because of that conversation that never happened, he purposely picked people who arrived later to pass through. That's not all of it. After everyone else in the VIP line gave up and left, he let 3 people next to us in and came back to tell us we've to get back in the general line. I don't need to transcribe what conversation took place after that, but we got in.

You read the other reviews... the club was NOT full. More people were leaving than were let in. He gets paid $10/hr so he can treat paying customers like sh*t.  I would've given the club at least a 3 star, but after that experience, I'm over it.

If you REALLY want to check out this SUPER happening lounge, get there before 10:30 and you better be on the guest list. If you're a guy, get there before 10 or show up with at least 10 hot chicks because I saw single guys blatantly get shooed away.

I like this place. It was a nice lounge and the view was gorgeous. The place next to it was  nice but pricey for sushi, but for a girls night - once in awhile deal - it was fine.

Elevate was beautiful, but the only problem I had was the bathroom size. Only three stalls to accomodate the restaurant AND lounge. Really difficult if its a busy night.

The drinks were pricey but... just get a guy to buy it for you. heheh...

In order for girls or guys or mixed groups to get in for free, eat at the restaurant first then ask about the club to the waitress/waiter. They may be able to help you :)

If there's 0 star, I would give it to them right away.  This place made my last night of L.A. visit a nightmare.

Well, I came here couple weeks ago with my friends and had a pretty good time.  The view was awesome, and the bartender was very sweet and friendly.  On top of that, there was no cover charge!

So, we decided to hang out again tonight but there was a long wait this time.  We waited there for good 30 minutes and the line was not moving for awhile.  When we finally moved up to the first ones in line, I noticed why.  Anyone who flirted around with this bouncer would cut in line and get in.  So, I gave the bouncer a dirty look and he would not look at me anymore.  After at least three groups cut in front of us, he finally let us in after I made a huge complaint.  The bouncer told me that those were VIPs.  Come on, I've been a VIP at clubs in Vegas and NY, and treated like a queen but they didn't make it look so obvious like this axx!  When we went up, there were another nasty looking dude checked the stamp on my wrist and sent me back to another window to pay cover charge, WTF???  I immediately noticed that something went wrong.  When I told him that I didn't have to pay any cover charge last time, he rudely made a comment that the only ones who don't have to pay for the cover charge are the ones coming out of the restroom and cannot charge each time they go to the restroom.  I knew it was a lie.  I quickly discovered that if you have two stamps, they let you in with no cover charge.  Because I gave the bouncer dirty look and complained, he did the dirty trick on me.

I've been to so many nicer clubs and NEVER experienced this type of lame attitude.  Man, these stupid bouncers don't recognize who I am.  It's your big loss and I will never come back!!! I had much better experience at the neighborhood bars like The Standard or Edison Lounge.  I stormed out of that place right away and as I was walking out, I made a comment to the bouncers that I would give them 1 star on Yelp.....and here I am writing this review to keep my promise.

So long LA and hello to NY!!! :D

So people have been raving about this place but I think it's totally overrated.  My girlfriends and I went on a Thursday night and it wasn't busy (I'm sure because it was a week night).  No cover charge when we went either.  The lounge is located on the 21st or 31st floor of some building supposedly with a nice view of the LA city skyline.  I was not impressed.  First of all, the place is SMALL.  I don't see what the hype is all about.  I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be to be cramped in this place during the weekend!  There is a small dance floor and the music wasn't very good either.  And there were was very limited seating area.  I was with great company so I enjoyed myself nonetheless.

What a shame.  This place used to be so cool, now it's where 40 something year olds go after work to drink and avoid their families.

Thursday nights used to be a pretty popular night with the young crowd, but I guess they're all down the block waiting outside the Standard  trying to look cool and rich to get in.

I've been here a few Thursday earlier this year and last night will be the last time.  They still play hip-hop and the crowd is pretty mixed, but a LOT older now.  Drinks are still overpriced and not worth it.  Flat soda water with my Ketel?!?!  Someone should be lynched!
They also blocked off part of the outside area, which happened to be what I liked most about this place.

Only pros, still free on Thursday nights and very easy to get in.  From the other reviews, looks like Fridays or Saturdays are your best bets.

Went about a month ago, and i was totally impressed..
Again, I'm not soo into the club scene but the views are amazing, the people seemed all pretty cool; and the place was small enough to mingle, but not too small to enjoy the dancing in the main room, and this 21st floor club offers smoking on the outdoor balcony.

Not really a cover, and that adds more value at the bar..

Awesomep lace if you like to dance. The crowd is pretty diverse. Drinks are fairly expensive (and you will have to wait for them) but the DJ is awesome and the dance floor has the perfect balance of not-overcrowded and not underpopulated. The view is sick too. There's no cover on Thursday nights. It's a great way to show out-of-towners a bit of downtown LA.

All I can say is WOW!

The first time I came here was on New Year's Eve 2009.  I had a phenomenal time but will not review the adventure because it would have been good almost anywhere I went.  Instead I want to review my past experience from Saturday, my birthday.

I knew that I wanted to invite my friends to a sexy but elegant club with a top-notch feel.  ELEVATE is the right place, believe me.  I sent an email to make a reservation.  Greg, the general manager, called me to set it up.  He told me that all of my friends could bypass the cover and the line if they mentioned my name at the door.

When I arrived, they knew exactly who I was, all of the security guards were introduced to me and we went right up VIP style.  It felt like the red carpet was rolled out.  They gave me the best table in the club and I already had friends waiting who couldn't believe their similar experience.  Our cocktail server was awesome and kept us happily drinking all night.  The music was ridiculously good and the club was bumpin'.  There were good looking people everywhere having a blast.  The general manager came by to check on us a couple of times and we all felt very special.  ELEVATE was incredibly accommodating to the 50 or so guests that came to celebrate!

We will all come back again and for those I have talked to, have dubbed this our favorite spot in los Angeles.

If you're looking for a cheap place, remember, you get what you pay for.  If you want to have a first class experience, this is the place to come.

Let me break it down. My birthday. Was brought here by 15 or so friends just so we could "hang out." It was great because it was a Thursday night (still extremely packed) but we got past the bouncers...because there were no lines and didn't pay cover fees. Sweeeet.

The view: AmaAAAzing. The drinks: prettyy good. The music: questionable at times, but you still dance with a "What the f-" look on your face. I would say my birthday was a success-minimal payment. Maximum fun. (That was cheesy, but leave me alone, it was my birthday) :)
