I went to Elephant Bar tonight for the first time in a long time. I have never really enjoyed the food there too much...probably because it's a little pricey for food that seems to be mediocre. I still feel that way tonight even though all I had were some sweet potato fries.
I docked it 1 star because, like I mentioned, I do think the place is a little bit overpriced. I docked it another star because there is never parking spaces available in that shopping plaza. If you go around dinner time any day, you will definitely have to spend a few minutes looking for parking and potentially following exiting patrons to their cars.
The service is nice there. When they saw that we had a baby carrier, they immediately offered us the stand that holds the carrier up by us.. And the waiters were very attentive.
Oh E-bar, how I keep hoping to like you. You seem like such a fun place to go with the safari heads and decor. Then, I look at your menu and I remember why I don't like coming here. You have an eclectic menu but the flavors in your meals do not seem to make sense to me. It's not authentic and it's not American, so what is it? With all the diverse items on your menu, I ended up choosing a burger. Let me tell you, I have an eclectic palate so choosing a burger in this type of situation is SO NOT ME! But, I ate the burger. Not bad, not great!
But, to top off my last visit to your restaurant, the service was AWFUL! I'm a patient but when we have to wait 15 minutes for our server to bring us a side of ranch and ketchup I get a little antsy.
I won't choose you out of freewill next time, but will go if everyone else wants to.
Came in last night, and sat at one of the booths at the bar. We just made happy hour by 8 minutes. I quickly ordered a glass of wine ($1 off during happy hour), and an order of lettuce wraps ($4.95). Lettuce wraps were pretty good, considering the price.
For my main course, I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp. For some reason, the Hayward location makes an awesome Pad Thai, and the Fremont locations version tasted horrible. I requested some Spiracha and it took at least 10 minutes before I got it.
I think I'll stick to the Hayward location. Better service and the food somehow tastes better there.
OMG! Of all the elephant bar I been to, I hate this one.
Thinking that this was a chain food should be consistant, well it not!
My order of the mahi mahi had no sauce which made the fish extremely dried, and when I asked can I get some sauce for this dish, the waitress give me cream, flavorless cream, made it some what better because it was not as dry, but still no flavor. It was some what disgusting to swallow, its was all bad. I never had this dish this way, didn't think they can made it so nasty, I usually love this dish at the other elephant bars.
I like you elephant bar. You have a yummy citrus salad and your salmon tempura roll is tasty. In fact I have liked everything I have eaten here (mongolian beef, chicken sandwich) ...and drank for that matter. My dirty martini had perfect amount of dirty.
Really you get 3.5 stars because you aren't out of this world but you are still a reliable place to grab some tasty food. And since everyone and their mama moved to BJs finding a table has not been a problem. Your lunch specials are pretty good too. You get a bad rap for some reason but keep your chin up, E-bar.
If I could give them -5 stars, I would. Went last night with family to celebrate Mom's birthday. I ordered the tempura salmon roll* because the waitress said it was good and really filling and the picture looked great. Big chunks of salmon as well as veggies in the roll. I get the roll and I'm not really sure if there's actually salmon in it and the roll didn't really look anything like the picture. It was supposed to be served with ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce but the plate just had the little bowl for the soy sauce, with no soy sauce in it. I had 2 different servers approach me and tell me they were going to get soy sauce. After everyone else was halfway through their meals, a server brought out a bottle of soy sauce. My brother also got his food late because he had asked for no tomatoes or lettuce, and they brought out his burger with no onions... They took it back and told him they were sorry and it would just be a minute, and they brought back the same burger with the tomatoes and lettuce *almost* scraped off about 10 minutes later... seriously? While the servers were nice, at first, they seemed pretty confused. I know that places like the elephant bar are packed a lot of the time, but if you can't handle that fast-paced type of work, then maybe you should find something better suited for you. I know I can't handle that type of job and I honestly respect people who are servers that love their job and are great at it because I would suck at it, no question. While the night hasn't gone too badly, it was after we tried to pay that really flat out pissed me off. I'm a compassionate person and I know everyone has their off days so when little things happen, like an order gets mixed up or the soy sauce is forgotten, no big deal, right?
We were all putting in for the check, 2 20's from my sister, 2 20's and a 10from me and my bf, and a card from my brother. One server takes the folder with the cash and card and another brings it back. When my brother goes to sign, he notices that there's a mistake. They had lost a 20 and were telling us that we gave them 70, not 90. I saw the bills myself and know that it was 40 and 50. My sister wanted to just let it go, but I think this was bull. how do you lose a 20 and then try to just ring it out like we wouldn't check? It really irks me that they would do that. When we told the server it was wrong, she gave this big sigh when she said she would talk to her manager. I can understand this makes her life harder at work, but we didn't lose the money and we checked all around the table to see if maybe it fell out of the receipt folder. When the manager came out, she reeked of alcohol and had a very condescending attitude towards us when were explaining the situation. When she brought the receipt back, it was different, but still incorrect but we didn't want to deal with it anymore and left. I've never had a bad experience at Elephant bar until I came to this location. I will never go back.
* I believe that's the name, it might be salmon tempura roll
Elephant Bar is everything you want from a simple dining experience: decent service, decent food, decent atmosphere. Nothing is out of this world, but it is a nice place to bring guests because it has a ridiculously large menu to accommodate all different tastes.
The food is overpriced, but they do manage to pull it off pretty well. Don't come here looking for a gourmet experience! Come to take advantage of their awesome coupons and specials.
This review is for the bar. Will have to try the food one day.
Hung out with some Yelping friends here after the BBQ for some drinks. Everyone ordered the ultra mojito and I had the premium raspberry mojito. My drink was really good and was about $8. The ultra was $9 bucks.
The place has a nice ambiance.
The waiters were super nice.
My drink was awesome.
But the Ultra w/ the sugar cane was a disappointment. According to the guys that is.
A few of us stayed until we were asked to leave. No, not because we were drunk but because they were closed...a few more hours then maybe it would have been different.
All i have to say is thank god BARB doesnt work there anymore, and recently, the entire e-bar staff is ecstatic about DAVID not working that anymore either. Jesus, you'd think those assholes were related! Anyways, since they've left Ive been there WAY more often. I love the new nutritional facts on the back, makes me order a highly confusing salad every time, (no this, sub that) to take off an un-needed 700 calories! lol. love the tempura rolls, the ahi tuna salad the baby green salad, Actually all the salads are amazing. most of all there happy hour specials are the BEST! way better than most, and most of all, its actually FUN to drink there, unlike some restaurants =)
Wow. The fact this place stays in business -- let alone being crowded on Friday nights -- is beyond me.
Atmosphere: Cheesy. Phony jungle decor. Kind of like a family vacation when you're a kid and your parents take you to Knott's Berry Farm instead Disneyland. Massive suck.
Service: They hire kids and turn them loose. No true sense of service. Just go through the motions.
Food: Cheap, bland and dumb. Wouldn't be surprised if everything came in boxes and was nuked to order.
Drinks: Booze is booze -- but we're not talking anything sophisticated here. The bartenders are real boneheads, too. Happy to let you sit around and wait while they BS with their friends or regulars.
One star for not getting food poisoning. Sort of a dopey Applebee's or Denny's with palm fronds swaying back and forth in the ceiling. Blech.
I have been going here ever since forever ago. And it never disappoints. I was here tonight with two of my female friends and we shared some cocktails, wine, desserts, a sexy conversation and it was GREAT.
Great restaurant accompanied with excellent helpful staff. I personally enjoy sitting at the bar. They also have these high stools and tables which kinda gives you a nice view of whats going on around you. Nice.
Find me at E-Bar for their happy hour. :-)

Its really a nice chill place to go. I used to go here often, now, not sooo much - don't know why.… Read more »
I always enjoy dining here. The decoration within the restaurant is really something, very calm and easy going. Haven't had a bad experience. One time the server forgot one of our orders, she quickly put a rush on it, and it was delivered by the chef soon after.
The staff is usually friendly but the servers do not check on the tables as frequently as i would think. My friend had to wave down another server just to get a set of utensils because our server was M.I.A. or a while.
Although the menu has come quite a ways since my last visit, the overall concept of the restaurant remains confused. Looking over the menu, they offer everything within the spectrum from jambalaya to sushi. Although it is a bold statement to exhibit such variety, the ingredients are far from fresh and the preparation not quite authentic. The resulting flavors are...uninteresting, to say the least.
The service, however, was outstanding. Always preferring to sit at the bar, we were being tended to almost exclusively on this Sunday afternoon. The drinks came quick and often and, suddenly, the food wasn't so bad. Delivered in the correct order and in a timely fashion, I was impressed with the presentation of our appetizer and entrees. Overall, each dish we ordered (Tempura Salmon Rolls, Jambalaya, and Mongolian Beef) were generic at best.
Owned by the same holding group as Carrow's, Elephant Bar will always be a value chain. I could see this place useful for large gatherings with it's large dining room area and flavors that will neither offend nor impress your guests. Think TGI Friday's in a sportcoat. Notwithstanding the menu, I would definitely return for some day drinking in the company of friendly bartenders.
I just got a yelp account to review this place!
We are out of towners, in the area for two nights. We found the restaurant selections around here leave a lot to be desired, but my husband was excited to see an Elephant Bar. He had eaten at another location multiple times on business trips and had good experiences.
I am pregnant and starving, the entire menu sounded delicious. I settled on the New York strip and coconut shrimp, with a blue cheese wedge to start. My husband got the braised beef and noodles, also with a blue cheese wedge. He had eaten the same thing at the other location and enjoyed it.
Our waitress was friendly but very busy, our drinks took forever to arrive and even longer to be refilled. I asked if the lemonade listed on the menu was fresh squeezed and she said no, so I went with iced tea. My husband got a mixed drink that was weak.
The salads came out and the blue cheese dressing was literally tasteless. There was no blue cheese tang, no flavor at all. My husband immediately commented that there was normally more blue cheese on the salad, and after a few bites asked if it was ranch dressing. It turns out it was blue cheese dressing, just completely flavorless.
Our meals arrived a while later and I immediately went for the mashed potatoes. OMG they were instant. I asked the waitress and she said no, they were made fresh every day. I swear that I'd believe KFC's mashed potatoes were real over these. They were instant.! Mealy, soupy, flavorless. Instant!!!
The spinach was fresh and yummy. I wish I had no potatos and double spinach. My steak was also cooked well and had a nice flavor. The coconut shrimp was unremarkable.
My husband had to send his braised beef back. It arrived looking like it had been sitting out since before they cooked my steak. Coagulated, cold, yuck. There was little beef and fewer mushrooms. He told the waitress that he didn't like it and she immediately asked, "why, does it taste old?" She put the words right in to his mouth!
He ordered the crispy teriyaki chicken to go, because by this time our 20 month old was climbing the walls. We just got home and openend it and we think the waitress had poured the soy sauce out all over the to go bag. The outside of the to go box was covered in soy sauce!
Anyway, that's the last time I'll visit an Elephant Bar. Instant mashed potatoes and I just don't get along!
E Bar is a decent place to eat. They have an odd assortment of food. It's a mix of sandwiches, bbq, and asian "fusion" kinda stuff. While I'm partial to the BBQ burger with the onion straws, I sometimes switch it up and get the club sandwich and fries. So as you can see, i play it safe at the EBar. Why? Because it's the elephant bar! not some thai place or vietnamese noodle house. Sure, it's great they have that on the menu but i'm not exactly going to stop by a pho house for a burger am i? no. So I stick with what I think the ebar is capable of doing and they do a pretty decent job at it! The onion soup is also really good here, very cheesy and goes good with a tall, ice cold hefeweizen.
I've been here many times and while there always seems to be a new wait staff on hand, they are always friendly and I personally haven't had any mix up's with my meals. Then again, i keep it simple at the ebar. If you happen to end up in hungry, in fremont and the thought of eating at Chili's makes you throw up alittle in your mouth, the elephant bar is a good choice.
What the fuck would possess anyone to wait an hour to eat here?
The first (and last) time I was here, I was told it would be a 20 minute wait. Fine, no problem, my girlfriend really wanted to dine here, since we liked the Elephant Bar in Burlingame. While we were waiting, a group of four showed up about five minutes after (can you see where this is going?). After about half an hour (longer than the 20 minutes they quoted), the group goes in, probably complained, walks back out. After a couple of minutes, the hostess walks out, and says, loudly, "I know those people [my girlfriend and me] were here first, but whatever!"
You can imagine how damn incensed I was. Not only was that improper business behavior, but that was just so mindnumbingly stupid. Who says that loud enough for other people to hear? So I stormed in there, complained to the front podium, and the lazy high school idiots there played dumb and started laughing sheepishly. I then spoke with the manager, who apologized, and sat us down promptly. I would have left, if not for the fact that we were starving and had already waited 35 minutes by this point. Our server was great - so I was willing to forgive Elephant Bar of Fremont... but when I received my Mongolian beef dish, I thought I was going to ralf. It was low quality meat, it was chewy and rubbery - I don't know how to describe it very well in English - and it was oversalted. The rice was lukewarm. My girlfriend's pasta was soggy. The pina coladas we ordered were subpar, one of them was even missing the pineapple - whatever these people are smoking, please pass it along.
If you're really craving Elephant Bar - drive the extra mile and go to the Burlingame location.
Not the best, but then again I was never a huge fan of Elephant Bars so this one would be no exception.
In general the service is good and the food comes out, but sometimes it doesn't come out hot which is very annoying because you know they just left it at the counter and maybe forgot about it after the cooks made the dish.
Service can be slow sometimes and I've had many bad experiences as well as good experiences here, so I'm giving it three stars on an average. This is just a better version of Chili's or Applebee's but with a slight Asian twist.
Really like E-Bar. I'm not a foodie expert...but I like decent food. And, E-Bar for me is above "decent". Don't think I'd wait 45 minutes for a table though...when I hear that at the host station, my shoes start working. But on a normal non-rush day or time, I'll just say that I have paid more for less elsewhere.
What sets this place for me is the usually great service and varied menu.
Last time I was there, my wife and I had GREAT service. Our servers were very attentive and helpful. Our "primary" server, I think her name is Jeanine, was outstanding. No rush, no attitude, no Chatty Cathy...man, I can't stand servers that get in my grill and act like I really give a sheet about their day or life...or want to know about mine. Don't work me for an extra buck tip...I always tip and this ain't my first rodeo...get to work. I managed food service for three years on a district level...I can see a phony server or slack server a mile away. Simply be polite, check in on the table a couple of times, and let the customer enjoy their meal, conversation, and each other.
== I write this ramble on this review page as one time I was at this E-Bar I thought the server was gonna give my wife or me a lapdance...he was way too chatty. I've fired a server or two or three...lost count...but this is the first time I ever complained as a customer to management about a server that I can recall. Some of his comments were simply rude and unprofessional. I actually told him that if we needed anything else that we'd let him know (hint)...nonetheless, like a bad penny, he kept coming back ==
Anyway, enough of the ramble, thank you...I feel better now....back to the last time I was there; I asked "Jeanine" about the Tempura Salmon Sushi Roll...and she described it perfectly...how do I know that? Cuz, when it landed on our table, it was exactly as described. When I tasted it...exactly as described...actually better.
The burger I ordered (Santa Barbara add bacon) was "ok". Not bad, decent though. But you can get a better burger next door at Chili's and a killer burger at Bob's down the street. Kind of small and presentation wasn't. Wife ordered the "Mojo Salad""...hoped it tasted as good as it looked...she loved it. Posted pics.
Anyway, I'd rate it 3.5 stars for food but added stars for service.
I don't have anything particularly interesting to say about this place, since it isn't a particularly interesting place.
I've come here a couple times, and all I really remember is how long it takes for me to get a drink. Last time, it was like...20-25 min before I got my beer. My draught beer, apparently because the bartender wasn't around. This is literally what the server told me.
If you want generic American fare, there's a Red Lobster down the street. And a Chili's. Who cares.
Oh, also, there aren't even any elephants here. What a con.
long wait for average blah food. Its usually really busy here during weekends and its hard to get waitors attention, we ended up not having refills during our whole meal. it sucked but we understand it was really busy but still it didn't make the food as enjoyable:(
I've never had a major problem with the service here and the food has always been average but it seems like ever since they updated their menu there is less variety and good food to choose from.
I used to frequently get a pasta dish there but now I think they only have non-Asian pasta dish (since when did they become so Asian food focused?), so I ordered their Roasted French Dip sandwich. I was expecting something like Buckhorn's little buck, but the E-Bar results were nowhere near as good.
The roast beef lack flavor - it just tasted cooked, the french bread was too flaky, and their au jous sauce was lacking in flavor too but their fries were really good. Sadly, the fries were the best part of the meal.
A few days earlier my family went here while I was away and they got me the chicken tenders to go - they looked like fish sticks and lacked any real taste.
I think I will be coming here a lot less now that their menu has changed.
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY ALERT! I think there is a huge opportunity for someone to open a nice bar/lounge/restaurant in the Tri-city area. Most folks end up driving to SF. I think places like Elephant Bar benefit greatly because of that. This place is just all right but is always packed because there aren't many options. The service is pretty good and the food is average to below average. Watch out for the wait times!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh h!!!!!
ya.... i need a bag... cant... breathe...~~~
An Elephant Bar in Fremont, wow is that progress. Lots of variety, but this is Fremont. There is parking and a real nice outside patio.
18 of us went to lunch and for appetizers we had these sweet potato french fries. The sauce that came with it was this ketchup red suace, they should have flopped the Heinz 57 right next to the fries. Yuck. Not to appealing.
I was spared by my entree which was the seared tuna salad. The tuna was seared nicely, little charred on the outside but that was okay. Nice miso type dressing and fresh greens. I think they put edameme in the salad which was different.
I drank two Arnold Palmers and all was good. I wanted a mojito but I had a 1:30 meeting , boo.....
I've only been here a couple of times. The first couple times was a while back, and I came for birthdays.
Disclaimer: this review is just for the one in Fremont.
The most recent time I came here, though, was about two weeks ago with three other friends. The servers were pretty nice, but the service wasn't that great.
My friend's straw tasted SALTY. I have no idea what went on with that. I'm thinking, the server used it to stir my food, which was EXTRA salty. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, but substituted the chicken for shrimp, but it came out realllly saltly. My other friend ordered a veggie burger and it had huge corn chucks in it, and no cheese (which she stressed the importance of).
All in all, a okay place to eat with your friends, but I was expecting more. Taking away 1 star for the salty straw and another straw for my salty shrimp, lack of cheese and abundance of corn! :]
Got food poisoning from the crab and shrimp cakes plate. My drink was good so I will only go there for drinks but will probably never eat their food again.
I love Elephant Bar...
But there's just something PLAIN WRONG when you have fruit flies hovering over your food.
It's just WRONG.
I've lived in Fremont for a while and I've only eaten here 3 times. The food has a "Pacific Rim" theme. You mean I can Vietnamese Spring Rolls at a chain restaurant?? lol. Well, I guess it's nice to have options.
The restaurant is a really good date spot. The inside has a safari theme and their selection of drinks is really good. No pressure at all to eat and leave right after (the vibe I get from eating at places like Cheesecake Factory). The food selection isn't that great though. It's weird how they can transition from sushi to burgers, yes a little something for everyone, but there's not an entree on their menu that screams "this is only available at elephant bar and anything close to it isn't as good". It's like the purgatory of menus... not bad, but not that good.
The service is friendly and attentive so no worries there. It's worth a visit.
I went there last night. The service was really quick and nice. The waiter kinda got annoying after checking up on us every 10 mins lol. The sampler was good starter. Order the BBQ Pork Sandwich which was ok nothing differ. Prices are almost the same as Chillis, Applebees type business. Nothing too special about E Bar just a little more Asian influence in their dishes.
Plenty of parking and quick service when we went.
First lets talk about food, i like their pad thai better than any other thai place ..and their bar is the best in town, 'pomegranate mojito' whoa..i like their interior setting with that big medieval fan overhead.the staff is very vriendly..cant get enough of this place..they also play ESPN2 on Champions League days..this is my favorite lunch and dinner spot in Fremont lol
A lunch only review:
Fast, friendly and above average flavor. It IS pretty hard to mess up an Ahi sandwich, but it was dressed well, and the Ahi was seared and still warm in the center.
The menu was a bit all over the place, but I'd like to try some of the things on there. The decor...who cares? It was clean. I guess the "Elephant" part of the name comes from a somewhat tropical S.E Asian fusion thing (hence the menu/drink list), so much better than a Firday's or something in that ball park. It was nice and open, so it might be fun to people-watch there after some cocktails.
One of my favorite restaurants. I recently invited friends out for a celebration and gave a call to see if they could accommodate our rather large group of 18. They said no problem. We arrived and were literally seated in about 15 minutes and this was on a Saturday night at 8PM. Awesome.
Because our group was so large, we actually had two waitresses who were awesome. They were patient, helpful, and fun. I usually try to save room for dessert seeing as how I've never been able to get to it or I never finish the dessert. Alas, this time I didn't even get close. But a few of my friends did, the Mud Pie is insane! And their Creme Brulee looks heart-stopping rich!
The food portions are generous and the prices are very decent. Parking, however, can be a pain during crowded hours. Love that there's a Borders across the street so I can browse for books then have a bite to eat.
Have you ever thought maybe you were alone in regards
to your thoughts about a place?
I had to know if I was alone regarding my feelings about this place so
I skimmed the other reviews and my thoughts have been validated.
Vee S. said it best:
"I don't know whats happened to this place!"
My family has been here four times.
The first visit was a raving five stars.
Second visit was four stars.
Third visit was three stars.
There's a pattern, huh?
You got it; the fourth visit was two stars.
During the last visit at 12:15pm, the place was extremely quiet for
a weekend at lunch time.
Holy-Guacamole...where were all the people?!
Maybe that's more validation about how people feel about the place.
The one dish I had during other visits was no longer on the menu.
Dang- I had my sappy heart set on the glazed chicken served over rice.
I tried to be happy enough with a booooorrrrrrrrrring burger
(which was very dry).
I'm wild (as in adore wild animal stuff!) and I think the decor is
pretty darn fun and definitely wild.
"Wild thing...you make my heart sing!"
Yes- I had to end this on a happy "note!"
Went here on a late lunch with the family after shopping around the Fremont area. What a surprise to find some new stuff on the menu. The food wasn't bad, I had the lamb and it was pretty bland and the sushi was OK. The place is for what it is and is OK every once in a while but had better.
I'm at the bar pretty much 99.5% of my total visits here; so this is basically a review about the bar area. Overall my experience here is great. Before becoming a so called 'regular', I'd have to say that the bar service was awesome. The bartenders are quick and extremely helpful. If I had any questions or concerns about specific drinks or needed any recommendations, the bartenders were there to help. I usually stick to my usual 'Jack and Coke' but have tried their house drinks which are pretty good (ask the bartenders which drink would be the best fit for your taste buds). With all that said, E-Bar would had received 5 stars strictly on the bar service. Unfortunately, being a restaurant, the food makes up the majority of my experience.
In short, the food is only OK. Having a major Asian/South Pacific influence, the food is definitely different than the T.G.I.Fridays and/or Chili's type restaurants. I've practically had everything on the menu and ultimately, there is nothing to brag about. From the BBQ Pork Sandwich to the Coconut Shrimp appetizer to the Tri-Tip/BBQ Shrimp combo; the food is nothing more than ordinary. All in all, I'd have to admit that E-Bar is worth the try if you're looking for a change of taste and scenery but don't expect anything extravagant. One more thing, one positive aspect is that they have frequent new additions to their menu so there is usually something new to try.
Oh yea, I had to make this my first review because of "date night" =0).
This place is always crowded. I guess people in Fremont dont get tired of this place.
I've been here a couple of times for lunch with coworkers for special occasions. Elephant bar does the job if you have a large party and everyone has different tastes or cravings.
I find the menu to be random but they do have a lot of "safe dishes."
Its good for groups.
I am giving 5 stars due to the manager's treatment of me today at lunch.....what a nice guy and very caring, and my problem was not that important to me but he made me laugh and was so great.
I ordered a vegi burger that had an odd consistency. The waitress got the manager immediately and he offered me a new entree or to try to cook the vegi burger again.
Not only did he not charge for the vegi burger (which he said they need to work on the recipe), he bought me a strawberry shortcake dessert, even tho I said he didn't have to do anything.
very nice and we will be back. The tuna appetizer was fantastic and the sweet potatoe fries were excellent.
Way in the beginning it uses to be damn good for a chain...they had the sweet animal drink cups with "elephans" as my daughter used to call them...holding a variety of crayons to color pics that matched the safari decor. The food was decent and the service was above average....
That was then this is now...forget it...it's everything I hate about going out to eat in Fremont.
Typical boring corporate owned chain. Don't waste your time or money! I detest this sort of place. It must be a tried and true marketing ploy. Start out good and gradually degrade and hope that most suckers won't ever notice the difference. Well, we're not that stupid!!!! Your demise is quite frankly over due.
I don't know whats happened to this place! About half a decade ago when this place was still new, it was the "hot spot" in Fremont. As a pre-teen, I would still pretend to be 10 so I could get their kids burger which is a fab deal (Cheeseburger + fries + drink + ice cream sunday = $5-6) but now going back there after several years, I feel like everything in their menu tastes pretty crappo.
I noticed they recently tried to give their menu a new mix by throwing in some fusion foods, and let me tell you - burgers and asian food just don't mix on a menu...
I don't think I'll be coming back here again frankly. And it's not just me or me growing up, even my parents think this place has gone downhill - thats bad enough.
Haiku for Elephant bar:
The Elephant Bar
Long wait for just decent food
No more than three stars
