This place does protein well, great ribs, salmon chef special, beef short rib. But not a good place for dessert so dont waste your calories here - the chocolate indulgence was really bad, way too sweet and looked like a cheaply made mixture of fudge topping and whipped cream

And if you didnt use a promotion u spent too much. Theres frequently $7 off $25 coupons in sunday newspaper. Also seniors get a good 20pct discount.

If there was a 3.5 rating; then Elephant Bar would fall into that bucket.

Our favorites here is the Pina Colada drink; chicken wings; lamb shank (entree) and creme brulee and everytime we visit this restaurant, we order only these. I tried other entrees when I had dinner in the past; but didn't like them at all.

They accept reservations and I really like the ambiance.

I generally have had good experiences here.

The staff is friendly and seem to be on top of things.

Is there such thing as too big of a menu?  I would say that is my biggest beef with Elephant Bar, hence the not perfect rating.

Too much to choose from and everything sort of has the same look.

At this particular one though, not too much to complain about.  Good experience...would definitely come back.

We only visit if (1) we have a coupon or (2) we come with in-laws who have the senior discount.  Frankly I don't think the food is all that great.  Plus the calories listed right below each item on the menu.  Ugh.  Do I really need to know that I just ordered 3000 calories worth of food?

    Good:
Sweet potato fries.  Small portions though.  Costco sells the frozen variety which tastes similar at a fraction of the cost.
Ribs - when you have the coupon use it.
Lamb Shank - they give you two shanks for a full order.

Don't order the shrimp louie.  Nastiest I've ever had.

I noticed most of the Asian yelpers giving 1 & 2 star ratings. What's with the pattern?

This is Elephant Bar - they serve American food, for the most part.
If you were looking for authentic Asian food, why would you go come here & complain that American cooks cannot deliver such demanding expectations?

I mean, you don't go to Japan and ask their citizens to drive German automobiles.....

    You just don't.

    ------------

I love this place. Will come back again & again.
Elephant Bar beats Cheesecake Factory by a mile.

It has been a long time since  I've been to an Elephant Bar (used to go to them in SoCal), and after having visited this location recently, now I know why!

There is a fairly hefty wait to eat here, at least when you take into account how average the food is. It really isn't worth waiting for! The menu selection is enormous, maybe too much selection in my opinion, because nothing is done very well. Maybe if they made the menu smaller and focused on making those few dishes well, Elephant Bar would fare better. I tried the lettuce wraps and even the lettuce wraps at P.F. Changs were far superior in every way. I've made better mac n cheese than their three cheese macaroni.

In addition to the overwhelming amount of entree selections, the drink menu is also huge. I used to think this was the only thing going for this restaurant, but the sangria we had wasn't very good either. Too much red wine!

I had the Oak Grilled Rainbow Trout with lobster sauce which was grilled well, moist and still in one piece however it didn't have much flavor to it so I definitely needed the lobster sauce. Their sweet potato fries are really good and I like the fact that the calories for the meals are listed on the menu so you know what you're getting yourself into. The only negative aspect of my dinning experience was the wait time which was about 20-25 minutes. The restaurant is clean and visually appealing on the interior. Will go back in the future.

The food here is decent.  It seems there is a large turnover of waiters and waitresses.  But, the service was good.  The waiter we had was very nice and he came back every so often to check up on us.

The French Pear martini and the Garlic noodles were delicious.

Just wondering about the $.50  charge for bread. I asked for it to soak up the delicious sauce that came with my meal and was very surprised that I was charged for it. We are still discussing whether the management should be advised we are unhappy over this petty $.50 charge.

Isn't it funny how this place has a 2 1/2 star rating but its still usually pretty packed?  I guess this is an automatic "go to " spot for a lot of people.

This is exactly what happened when wanting to meet up with some old college friends- a regular local eatery that is standard?  Elephant Bar.

Not a big fan but they have a big enough selection, standard price, and standard taste so ok sure.  I feel their food is on the heavy flavoring and salty side but which makes for tasty dishes.

Service is regular.  Be there again on the next random group meet up!

This Elephant Bar is hit and miss with their food. I don't come often, but when I do I always have a craving for the coconut shrimp. The last time I visited the place was busy, we waited almost 30 minutes for a seat. When we got seated our waiter did not show up for almost 10 minutes. Which was ok, since it was packed. When we got our food it looked horrible. My salmon did not look appetizing. It was too salty for my taste, we sent it back and got another dish. I got the thai chicken salad, I was again disappointed. The chicken was overlooked cooked. I just put the food to the side and waited for the check. My friend and I left feeling this place has disappointed us for the last time.

The food is not really that good and a little expensive. We go to hang out and drink a bit. Not a high class place but it is definitely NOT a dive.
Huge parking lot but almost never any place to park!
No street parking at all. Located on corner of Portal ave and Stevens Creek blvd in Cupertino. We can walk to this location but we have to always get a ride home as the Cupertino Cops are sort of jerks about us walking home drunk?

This is a review solely for the Happy Hour & drinks.

I came here with my best friend for some drinks and a little bite to eat. The bar was packed so we opted at the small, intimate bar tables located at the outer edges of the bar.

We ordered the Niu Niu, Coconut Shrimp Skewers, Sweet Potato Fries, Acai Berry Mojito and the Appletini.

The food here has an Asian fusion taste to it with a Safari themed ambiance going on. The Shrimp Skewers came with a soy vinaigrette type sauce and a mini side salad that also served as a garnish. I enjoyed these as they were easy to eat, crisp to the bit, but cooked well. I loathe overcooked shrimp. The Sweet Potato Fries were okay and came with a sweet, sour and spicy dipping sauce. As for the drinks, K.M.'s Acai Berry Mojito was absolutely delicious, it was fruity and fresh tasting. You can barely taste the alcohol (that means trouble!) Seriously tasted like candy, it was great. My Appletini was a little bit unexpected, I was thinking it would come out bright green with a granny smith apple wedge on the rim. (think J.D. fromScrubs!) It came out red as an apple, rimmed with sugar/cinnamon and in the center slices of granny smith apples. It was sweet, delicious and the hint of cinnamon was so comforting. The apples tartness was a great compliment.

The bill came out to be around $25 for 4 items. This is probably because we didn't take advantage of the Happy Hour drinks. The service was kind of lacking as we both waiting around 5-10 minutes for a waitress to serve us, but once our order was put in she was quick to get us our food and drinks.

Would love to come back, but probably just for drinks.

I'm a big fan of happy hour here.  I usually go after 9.  They have some of the better deals for drinks and food especially the burger combo.  The quality of drinks can be hit or miss depending on who makes it and the food is pretty standard mass production chain restaurant quality.  It usually isn't as lively as some other places, but this can be good if you just want to go chill with friends.

The food here is not bad.  But it's not good either.

The slow, negligent service leaves much to be desired.

Considering the mediocre food and the sub-par service, it's hard to condone the inflated price.

Met some old colleagues for lunch and it was fun. We arrived around noon on a workday and were seated promptly in a nice booth in the back by the window. Our server was attentive at first, but once the food arrived, he completely forgot us (and I was almost choking from laughing and had no water to give myself the liquid Heimlich).

Three out of four of us ordered the lunch Chicken Marsala and it was pretty good. Chicken wasn't dry, garlic mashed potatoes weren't lumpy and the gravy had a good flavor to it (no salt needed) and the spinach was pretty good. Overall, it was a good meal.

We finished off sharing the Mini Indulgence Sampler Platter which included the Wonton Sundae (ice cream in a wonton drizzled with chocolate: good crispy and cold mix), Fresh Baked Red Velvet Chocolate Cupcake Sundae (was pretty good, had a huge amount of fluffy cream cheese topping on top if you're into that sorta thing), and the Mini Walnut Fudge Brownie (which had to be my favorite, mixed in with the ice cream). It was nice to sample all the desserts and even mix and match 'em (wonton with red velvet cake and some walnuts covered in fudge.. GET IN MY MOUTH!).

Good lunch (4 stars), great time, other than being thirsty and our non-existent waiter (-1 stars) after the food arrived, the food was pretty good.

Eww this place is freaking nasty... what the fuck???

This wannabe Cheesecake Factory's food looks nothing like the menu pictures.  It's worse than Denny's with their Photoshopped menu.  My burger was a sad looking piece of meat sitting on a lumpy bun.  I was about to say they forgot the avocado when I discovered two pieces through an archaeological dig through the soggy lettuce.

The appetizer platter went untouched by me.  My companions' reactions assured me that I had made the right choice.  It's especially laughable to see pencil thin shrimps next to the menu's picture of jumbo thumb-width shrimps.

If forced to endure this place again, I would just get... water.  Give me Chili's or BJ's any day.  It's weird, I've been here twice before but the pasta and ribs were not as bad as all the dishes we had on this visit.

Came here for Happy Hour with some co-workers and I was surprised by how cheap their appetizers were for Happy Hour.
They had some pretzel sticks with awesome cheese sauce which was really delicious but I'm sure it's not good for you.
I also tried one chicken strip and it was pretty average.
After everyone left, my boyfriend and I decided to stay for dinner. I had the Moroccan Chicken, Couscous and Spinach. The chicken was amazing and was topped with cooked tomatoes and peaches I think. The couscous was a little bland but I think that's pretty standard and the creamed spinach was awesome with great garlic flavor. In general I was impressed by their menu and are looking forward to eating here again.

I hate chain restaurants because their food never tastes fresh. I would never come here unless one my friends dragged me here. The alcohol choices aren't the worst, so if you find yourself here just skip the food and go straight to the bar.

I am a frequent visitor here and big fan of their happy hours. Lettuce wrap, sweet potato fries and Bruschetta with tomato basil is my favorite. Go for house margarita and choice of beers are great here. One of my friend likes Jungle Colada too. The service is OK and slow at times. It gets really crowded and noisy at times. The outdoor sitting is better than small bar area if you are going for a happy hour.

There's an elephant bar less than 5 miles away from my house (Burlingame location). But my dad insisted on driving all the way to Cupertino because he likes the environment and service way better. Ha!

As long as I'm eating dinner with my family, I think I will ALWAYS be offered the kid's menu. I guess that can be a good thing but not when you get seated in the "kid's section." Is there such a thing? Well, I look all around the general area and each of the parties have kids ranging from 1-12 years old. Wonderful..  I had to enjoy my entire dinner filled with crying babies, kids screaming and standing on the booths, and their parents talking OVER their kids.

So I ordered a Cobb Salad just because looking through the menu with calorie listings of almost 1500 calories on average per dish did not really appeal to me. I decided to order a Cobb Salad which had about 600 calories. I'm sure it was more because there were huge chunks of bacon (not a bacon fan) that should have been cut down a little smaller. The avocados were crunchier than the lettuce in the salad. I had to nibble on the parts that were actually somewhat ripe.

I didn't really think the Cobb Salad was all that bad but when I looked at my mom's order of sweet potato fries that came along with her burger, I thought that was so ridiculously small (portion-wise). It's like they wanted her to be hungry afterwards and order dessert or something. (SEE PICTURE POSTED).

The service wasn't that great in the beginning. Some random waiter must have seen me pout and filled my water up for me (I drink water like a horse). It's understandable that our waiter was busy but the only time he came to check up on us or even fill our water cups himself was when we were literally all done and waiting for the check...

The only good thing about this place was that while we waited 20 minutes for our table, we just walked on over to Marukai (Japanese grocery store) and Daiso ($1.50 store) to browse and kill some time.

I'm not sure what the bad reviews here are all about.. I've been here twice in the last month, and I think the food is exceptional - especially for the price!

It seems that most of the bad reviews are on the service side of things, however I had no issues there. That said though, I did eat there at lunch, so not sure about service during peak hours.. Anyway, this place rules, so don't listen to to all the whiners who're mad because they didn't get their chardonnay in under 30 seconds!

Imagine:  On a night of drunken abandon, PF Chang's meets the Cheesecake Factory and this restaurant is their illegitimate love-child.

Asian fusion here means non-authentic Chinese food prepared by non-Asians. So I order the jambalaya. Don't make the same mistake: chicken, sausage, and shrimp with a Ragu-like tomato sauce over rice.

No fire, no flavor, no good.

Elephant Bar gets two stars instead of one because once we were seated, the service was good - efficient, friendly, and the server checked several times to see if we needed anything.  However, it took 40 minutes to get seated.  In retrospect, the overall dining experience doesn't merit any wait time at all.

Dessert note: the creme brulee had a nice vanilla flavor.

I haven't been here in a couple of years.. the service has definitely gone downhill and same with food. We were served by this rude girl and the runner just slammed the food on the table. I waited quite some time for the food to come out and when I asked what happened to my order I found out the girl didn't even place it!

After wards, we complained to the manager.. not about the food coming out but the lack of service we were getting from the waitress and he apologized and justified it by saying they were transitioning. Well, the Asian guy was nice and offered to take care of us next time but I don't think next time will ever happen again. Never going back to this location .. maybe Hamilton but not Stevens Creek!

I love E bar but I always get so darn full here!!

It's definitely not my go to spot but I do like coming once in a while. The drinks are always fruity and fun so I can't resist getting one.

I've tried a variety of stuff but the one thing I always seem to go back to is the lamb shank. For lamb, it doesn't have that icky gamey smell. The taste is GREAT and comes off the bone so easily I never have to use a knife. I'm a meat and potatoes girl so I appreciate the mash it comes with.

I've also had the sweet potato fries and liked it but my friend that I tried it with didn't agree.

The food really isn't all that great but the service is, which is why I guess I go back. I'd normally give it 3 stars for the food but happy thoughts with friends come to mind when I think of E bar, hence the extra star. Probably because of the excellent service.

I prefer the one on Hamilton over this one but this location isn't bad.  I would say it's OK.  The service and the food here is still splendid.  Nothing really different.  Just the layout of the restaurant.

Elephant bar has one of the greatest Happy Hour. There are variety of drinks and appetizers that are cheap and great!

My friends and I discovered that their Mojito here is by far one of the best - at least to us it is.  We will be sure to come back here when we get our Mojito cravings.

    Okay....

I totally get what most people are saying about the service.
It IS a bit on the downer end of the pool.

    BUT!

Their happy hour menu/prices/time slot is really good.

    What I usually get:

$4 mojito is literally a steal. (most places will charge you $6-8 for the same thing/same size)

-The Asian Bartender was really nice and friendly.
-Good amount of buzz in each of my drink

$3.50-$6.50 for their HH food menu and it tells you how many calories... TWO THUMBS UP!

    -Decently portioned
    -Presented nicely

I would highly suggest coming here for HH with a couple of friends and keep the conversation flowing so you won't notice the mediocre service from the "transition servers" .

These days I'm really a fan of the sweet potato fries and recently a friend of mine a very good friend of mine taught me how to put together a ketchup and mayo to make the ultimate fry sauce which I now use all the time and especially with my sweet potato Fries the combination is delicious.

Now that I know the secret I go to elephant bar and I ordered just that seed potato fries sometimes the macaroni and cheese which is very well made it to be dead has breadcrumbs on it I really enjoy having the Mango and raspberry drink which is incredible and we'll Maine I'm not sure how healthy it is.

After me like that I just want to go home and go to sleep and that's exactly what a I did.

The average rating is pretty accurate - nothing great about this place. I've tried a variety of entrees and on multiple occasions, the meats (especially chicken) ended up being really dry and awful. Seafoods are alright, but a bit too salty.

Prices are expensive and not worth the cost. It's still really popular and parking/waiting is a hassle, especially during dinners. However, service is excellent and they're flexible accommodating larger groups.

The sweetie and I don't really dine at these type of establishments too often but we were feeling a little like "what the hell, whatever". And since BJ's in Cupertino was packed to rim, we opted to come here in hopes that we could be seated right away.

To our pleasure we were! Not that many diners were here overall during dinner time which kind of spooked us but we decided to eat anyways. We were seated right away, and enjoyed looking at all the funky decor.

As for dinner we opted for The New York Steak and Coconut Shrimp combo, Shrimp Scampi in Lobster Sauce and a side of the macaroni and 3 cheeses. Our food came out pretty fast which led me to believe everything was prepped beforehand and with not that many orders coming thru since it wasn't busy that equated to fast food delivery. I was a little geeked out by that, but whatever it was ok I suppose.

The Steak and Shrimp was good, well worth it's pricetag as they cooked a perfect medium rare! Nice sear on the outside perfectly red and juicy on the inside. Shrimps with that sweet sauce were also yummy. The sides it came with her mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach which was actually really good as it mixed with the steak juices. The Shrimp Scampi was just ok, the sauce wasn't that great and that was what was suppose to make that dish. The shrimp although plentiful, were small, bland and not succulent at all. The Mac N Cheese was pretty good but not really needed in this dinner, the portion was just right but everything else was mammoth size!

We felt so full that we opted out of dessert late in the dinner, sad. Service was great up until the waiter forgot about us. He didn't ask me to refill my water or Sprite until I finished both of them. As dinner patrons I feel it's not up to us to ask for more, but for a good server to check up on the meal itself every 10 minutes at least to see how things are faring.

I doubt I'll be back but who knows, I've said that before and have returned to other places in the past, haha.

I deducted a star based on my most recent experience.  I came back to meet my parents here for lunch.  We decided to order off the lighter fare menu.  I got the Moroccan chicken with cous cous and my parents got a chicken sandwich and the halibut.

The Moroccan chicken came with a mango chutney on top which was a nice change of pace.  The cous cous was super dry and powder like.

The lighter fare halibut comes without sauce although they do give a grilled lemon to squeeze some lemon juice on top.  Otherwise, it also was not very remarkable either.  No herbs or non salt seasoning...

What also contributed to our bad experience was the runner who brought our orders to our table, literally dropped our plates onto the table with a thud.  Our server, however, was very pleasant and accomodating throughout our whole meal.

Having to choose between having high calories/sodium food choices versus reasonable healthy but not tasty alternatives, I may just persuade my parents to meet me somewhere else for lunch in the future...

The food = fail in almost every dish! Surprisingly the place was jam packed on a week night. I was at shocked. I heard people said the burger a Happy Hour is good. The ambiance is nicer than I expected!

    - Kona BBQ with shrimps and Chicken - super dry!
    - Scampi pasta with lobster sauce - half of the shrimps were cold!
    - Philly Cheese Steak - dry in Vietnamese baguette, really???
    - Global Sampler - Bruschetta bread, super soggy.
    - Noodle soup with Salmon rolls - bland and tasteless.
    - 3 cheeses Macroroni - my 7 years old got 2 bites & she left it as it!
    - Red Velvet cup cake - so dry that when my niece cut it, pieces falling apart!
    - Sweet potato - the only good dish of the whole night!

2 stars for the great service from the front hostesses tried to get us table quickly because we have small children! Our server brought us double on two orders, we sent back, but she was really trying and I had to give her credit for it.

One word: yuck. Actually, two words: Really yuck.

I want to love elephant bar, I really do. The servers are friendly and full of energy. The ambience is nice. They've been doing this whole fusion asian thing, which as an asian, I kind of sort of dig (ish). BUT...

They really dropped the ball at the asian part. I ordered calamari and they went through all the hassle of breading it and frying it only to drench it to a soggy slush with this gross ginger sauce! They really could have stopped a step early and it would have been a perfectly good plate of calamari. But they had to go asian on me, which meant I had to eat these limp squid sticks. Bottom line - DON'T order their calamari!!!! The other stuff on their happy hour menu didn't look so great either. I paid $7 for limp calamari. Talk about a rip off.
