Elenie is the woman I've been looking for my whole life to cut my hair. She's done it 3 times now and I've been happy every time. I even get comments from random strangers about my cuts.. and that has never happened to me before.
Her salon is warm, friendly and professional but comfortable all at the same time.
On the last visit, I let her know she was never to leave SF. Thanks Elenie!
Ok, so it took me longer to get back to her but boy I have to say it was the best thing I could have done for my hair!
I have to say right off that Elenie is a very caring person who wants to make sure you get exactly what you want and what is BEST for you. She takes the time to consult with you and really goes the extra mile with her service. She will never try and up sell you or push product but will inform you on what she thinks would benefit your hair.
If you read my 1st review and look at this one, you can tell that she does amazing work! Repeat clients are hard to come by, so trust me when I say this girl knows what she is doing! If you need a trim, want to go bold and try something new, or just know someone that is cutting their own hair because they don't want some crazy Supercuts haircut, tell them to get straight over to Elenie for Hair - they will never regret it! I for sure won't wait 6mo before I am back in her chair again....that was WAY too long!

Never a dull moment at this place! I never thought having my hair done could be so much fun because I'm not exactly the chatty type, but the people at this place are!
Janine does a great job on my hair, considering what little she has to work with. I feel like a new person every time I leave, because somehow, she's able to get some body into it, which is what I really need.
So Elenie took some time off for her beautiful baby D and while she was on maternity leave my hair suffered some serious depression and separation anxiety. It has gone from fabulous to "What is this on your head?". And yes I have tried other places, but they either did not listen very well or simply didn't know how to handle my baby fine locks. Ruined, dead and non descriptive is what it ended up being!!! Every girl knows - hair makes all the difference...sassy, flirty, sexy.... that is what I asked for..... and without Elenie's thoughtful touch I ended up with....well let me not curse on this site.
The new salon is sunny and cozy... When I came in today I wanted to stretch out on her soft couch and take in the beautiful art that celebrates women's body, mind and soul. The musical selection only added to my relaxation... she had some Brazilian and than classical crossover, that was hip and elegant at the same time. Her wonderful assistant offered me some yammy tea and I floated slowly to the chair, leaving my worries behind. That is what a salon should be - a place of peace!
She worked a miracle....again! Yes I may be a bit high maintenance and sometimes I don't always know what I want, but she guides my scattered desires and focuses on exactly the message I am trying to send. My haircut was so sexy that my boy friend had to take a seat once he saw me walk in the door. By the time I got to work I couldn't even keep track of all the compliments and signs lol ok, maybe I am a bit conceited, but hey that felt GOOD!
And watching her around some really hyper, and annoying clients (who frankly I wanted to slap around) amazed me, because she does not every lose her cool and listens to all the annoying nit picky suggestions with professional and respectful demeanor... and than delivers! But to be honest (if it was me), I don't have such patience and I would ask some of these yappies to leave=))) ok well thank goodness I am not the one who owns the salon, right =))) Elenie actually cares and takes her time to try to do everything in her power to perfect and please her client's hair, their minds and their souls. I have referred more people than I can remember to her over the years and most of them became her long term clients.
What is unique about this salon is not only is it Elenie and her talent and caring approach, but also that her husband Rodney works there as well. Hair is their life, their dreams and their passion. And how can you go wrong with that???
i had my hair done by someone else... it did not come out the way i wanted at all.. and i payed full price. I gave her a picture of what hair color i wanted and she told me that its okay and everything would come out the same. in the end my peekaboo highlights were 2 tones and my base color was darker than what i wanted. I told them it was too dark but they just told me that they couldnt make it any lighter because of my hair color i came in with.. also my peekaboo highlights... they said if they left it on any longer my hair would break.... they shouldve told me way earlier that they couldnt do my base color
they actually let me leave looking like that.. i paid $140 to have hair i hated.
2 days later i went to Regis and she fixed it for me. My hair DID NOT BREAK from the bleach and she also lightened my base color.
Elenie For Hair is an adorable and affordable salon! It was easy to find a parking spot right in front of the shop so I didn't have to walk far too. I went in earlier today to get my hair cut and styled for my graduation ceremony. I made an appointment with Ali. I showed her exactly what I wanted and that was exactly what I got! She takes very good directions, is very attentive and I ALWAYS love the end result. I am so happy the way my hair turns out every time I go to her, it feels healthier and looks so much better after I started going to her!! After a tough search, I found my hairstylist! Go to Ali!!
Elenie is a very sweet woman and her salon is cute. I can't say my hair has come out looking especially great but it is fine for a quick cleanup. I would go back but will still look out for a new salon.

After being totally lame and chopping off my hair really short (I lived in So Cal and it was during the heat wave over the summer.) I decided that I HAD to grow out my hair because I hated it.
I didn't get it cut for 9 months (yes, you read the right).
Anyway, I went to Elenie and she made me feel so much better!!! She put the life back into my hair!! My curls are back to being bouncy and fun, my hair is even again (it was so uneven before I went in, we laughed about that).
And on top of a wonderful style, Elenie is the sweetest, kindest person! Her assistant Elisa was wonderful too. I really felt welcomed in the salon and I will definitely be back!
Elenie is fantastic! She always makes me feel right at home, and cuts my hair just how I like it. I have thick, straight hair, and have often ended up with too many ragged-looking layers at other salons. Not with Elenie! As an added bonus, when Elenie cuts my hair it always seems to grow out well - to me that's a sign of a great cut, plus I get to keep looking fabulous between appointments!
My savior...literally
My hair was a total disaster. I had asked a stylist for "darker"...but I ended up with "DARK". Morticia Adams Vampire dark. I was in tears.
After seeing my friend have her hair done by Elenie, I knew I HAD to go see this woman who had been "praised" to be a hair god. I decided to call....yeah, on SATURDAY MORNING. I expected a voice mail but instead Elenie picks up with the most pleasant and sincere response. This woman is very very popular, so being warned that she would be booked I was lucky enough to be able to see her.
I went from black/super duper dark brown/red understones to amazingly highlighted and vibrant. My hair has been saved...undamaged and looking better than before I had colored it.
She is truly blessed with the Midas touch. A pleasant and beautiful lady who will make you feel at ease. I felt super confident in trusting her judgement on what to do, and didn't have a doubt that she would be able to help me.
I love Elenie!
After finding her on yelp Elenie's cut my hair for the past year. Her reviews are dead on. She's great at what she does- I like my hair to be daring but sheek at the same time and I appreciate the direction she goes in after I tell her what I want. Her work always gets me compliments from both girls and guys. I even get complimented months after I got each original cut + color.
Since I've gotten my hair done by her, never have I felt uncomfortable sitting in her chair. She treats her customers like we're her long-time friends. I've chatted with her about everything under the sun. I wouldn't hesitate suggesting her to my friends and I in fact have. I love Elenie! Even though I just got my haircut this past weekend, I can't wait til the next time!
I recently went to Elenie for the first time based on the glowing Yelp reviews. I love that I can walk 5 minutes over to her salon ("D Salon" in the Parkside/Forest Hill area). It's a cozy and casual neighborhood salon. Elenie herself is sweet as can be, very caring, and seems truly interested in you as a person. I didn't ask for anything special with my haircut (just a 1" trim) but I came out looking and feeling great! She also put a glaze on my highlights, which were starting to turn brassy. The result was fab!
Note: Elenie does not really do updo's nor special event styling. She told me that she sticks to her main talent, which is cutting and coloring. I dunno -- maybe she should re-consider and start doing blow-outs because she did straighten my hair beautifully with the drier! She is a wonderful technician and a sweetheart to boost!
Ive been meaning to write a review about Elenie forever but I haven't had the time, but i do now so here I go.
I found Elenie on yelp cause i was in need of a serious haircut, I had really long horse hair hahahha thanks to a $15 trim in clement. LOL
Also I needed someone to know my hair, see I'm Asian but i don't have the typical Asian hair i have very wavy/curly hair that i straighten everyday and i really wanted a real good haircut that will look good when its straight and wavy/curly.. THANK GOD I FOUND ELENIE! she was the biggest sweetheart ever i felt like i was in the salon for 15 minutes cause we chatted the whole time i felt like my girlfriend was doing my hair.. i was having a blast while i was getting this awesome haircut.
She cut my hair exactly the way i wanted it, it had volume when it was straight and wasn't soo poufy when it was wavy/curly. She didn't make my hair choppy and after I came home from my haircut my mom who is verry critical of my haircuts said WOW YOU LOOK GREAT!!

I don't get the hype of all the 5 star reviews but Elenie still deserves 4 stars mostly due to her friendliness. She is very nice and approachable and I think truly cares about whether you like your haircut or not. However, she was talking to other customers WHILE cutting my hair and worried me that my hair wasn't getting the attention it deserved. Over all, I like how it turned out, even though it's a little lopsided in the front. I was opting for bangs and she made sure to cut little by little to make sure I was satisfied. Will I come back? Probably, but it won't be my go-to salon.
This girl is the best!!!! Trust me no one is better then Elenie!! A true Gem!!
There aren't many hairstylist in the city that get my money twice. For living in SF the selection of good hair stylist, at reasonable price, is next to nothing. Just because its SF, doesn't mean I am willing to pay a "master" stylist 90 bucks for a trim. Elenie is affordable and knows what she is doing. She listens to what you say and does what it is you want. No funny business with the scissors. All the "master" stylists should take a few lessons from this stylist. I feel confident that I will not walk out looking like a crack addict with a mullet after an appointment wih Elenie.
Alright, I'll be the one to say it -- I don't think she's all that great. I mean she's okay but I didn't get all the hype of the 5-star ratings. Seriously, I really wanted to like her because she's a nice person and she's really chatty but after trying her a few times, I left each time going: MEH
Looking for more than just some Hairstylist? Perhaps you're searching for someone with more of a personal touch and a warm smile. Well, then you've come to the right place. Eleni, really listens to you when you tell her what you are looking for with each hairstyle. I can't tell you how nice it is to find a stylist who cares about what you are looking for in anything from a cut to a color. Everyone has had the terrible experience of getting a bad haircut and being too polite to say anything after. With Eleni that never happens because not only does she hear where you're coming from but she also has get ideas of what color works for you and she's never been wrong with me. She also has such a warm and inviting personality that you tend to lose track of the time when you're chatting away while she makes you look fabulous.
I can't wait to see her at her new location.

I *Heart* Elenie!! She is the bomb-diggity-bomb! She completely saved my crazy uneven layered hair that my old stylist butchered. From the moment I called to make an appointment I can tell she is very sweet and professional. I felt like I was chatting with my dear friend who I've known for years. She takes her time cutting and making sure every strand of hair is perfect. I also loved the beautiful red highlight she put in my hair! She is definitely the best hair stylist I've ever been to and she will be the only person to ever cut my hair again!!!

Elenie has been my hairdresser for almost 3 years now. She is wonderful! She is my image lifesaver! When I need a lift in spirits, when I need a small change, when I need a drastic change, when I need a new image, this is the lady I go to.
She listens to my needs and perceives the best hair cut/image for me. She knows my hair. She senses what I need. She is professional, reliable, talented, and personable. In a nutshell: My hairdresser is "bombastic". I always recommend her.
She recently colored my hair (it was my first time) and she left it absolutely beautiful. It is classy and sophisticated and has made me feel sun kissed and great.

I have been to so many salons, she is professional, outgoing, and friendly...you feel comfortable as soon as you meet her and sit in her chair. Eleni has the enthusiasm and energy to make a hairstyling experience exciting. I watched Eleni carry herself through different professions, and I am happy to see her doing what she was meant to do all along. Being a hairstylist is a natural talent to this young, aspiring woman.

OPA!......to my Greek Goddess who is missing her Toga dress(she should totally wear this while doing hair:) Anyway back to the review: I am very particular when having my hair done, especially since I have a big curly mop on my head, and because it is very difficult for stylists to work with hair like this. To my delight, my Greek Goddess responded no problem, I can fix that. A little snip snip here, a little dab of color there, some foils for baking here, and a Toga for accent. Viola! I was done and she did a fabulous job. I am very happy with everything she did, the only problem is I want to keep her a secret so my greedy ass can see her whenever I want. However, since I have been feeling kinda jolly lately, I will play nice and share her; so you must call soon.........................she books up fast(obvioiusly, by popular demand of course). Thank you Elenie!
Ms. Elenie is my hero. I haven't had my hair cut professionally for over two years (thank you Violeta) because of a tear-worthy cut from an old stylist. I read all of the very accurate yelp reviews and asked Elenie to work her magic. I gave her no real guidelines: just told her about my hair customs (I do nothing beyond washing, conditioning and finger-combing) and told her that I wanted to keep as much length as possible. What I left with is hair that makes me feel super sexy for a much lower price than that usually requires. She is super sweet, super cute and I think, for the first time since that fateful day two years ago, that I've found a stylist. Thank you!!!! See you in a few months!
Elenie saved the day. I was in the Bay Area visiting the fam, and was in dire need of a fresh new 'do. My grown out layers were so blah and my regular L.A. stylist was booked. After some extensive yelp research, I emailed Elenie literally Friday night asking if she had any openings for the next day. I had given up all hope but just decided to give it a shot, and I was shocked when she replied a half an hour later saying she had an opening. I was ecstatic. But then I panicked, what if I hate it? A new stylist. I haven't trusted anyone except my normal stylist for years. Eeeek. The next day I walked in to the salon and after flipping through a few magazines, I decided on the Eva Mendez haircut on the recent cover of Elle (I think). Elenie was so awesome and so bubbly and fun and she instantly made me feel at ease. Before I knew it, she was done and the haircut was everything I wanted it to be and more. She is truly talented!! And she's opening up her own shop soon, so look out San Francisco!! I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to look and feel fabulous. She won't disappoint. I will definitely be back for my next cut.

I am so glad I'm a "yelper" or else I would have never found Ms. Elenie! After reading her reviews on yelp I decided to try her out, she is the sweetest person you will ever meet and she is so patient- oh yeah I almost forgot- a miracle worker too! =) I am 6 months pregnant and my hair has been growing like crazy (thank you, prenatal vitamins!) which I love, but it has just been so unmanageable lately that most of the time I put it up in a ponytail. I needed someone to work their magic and Elenie sure did. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a hard customer to please- which is usually why I bounce around from stylist to stylist because I can't find one that works for me. I am proud to say that shall never happen again! The search is over and now I can sit back and enjoy my haircut and pregnancy!
Based on all the 5-starred Yelp reviews, I went to Elenie this past Saturday for my first visit here. And you all were right! Elenie is an attentive, helpful, and fun stylist, but more importantly, she is a super friendly and sweet person. She even complimented me on my highlights that I got somewhere else! I walked out of my appointment very satisfied with my new haircut, wondering when I should go back again. The salon, in general, is very nice because it's clean, not too big or small, and in a convenient location (at least for me) with easy street parking. It's classy, but unpretentious and comfortable.
So I would have given Elenie 4 - 5 stars, but the appointment was so crazy that I think 3 stars is more appropriate for now. I had an appointment with Elenie on a Saturday. I showed up to the wrong salon, but luckily the old salon told me her new location. I showed up on time and Elenie told me she was running a little late and apologized profusely. I figured 5 - 10 minutes no big deal. I learned 30 min's later that an earlier person had shown up 45 min's late for her cut and color. So Elenie was basically juggling 2 - 3 haircuts at the same time. It took me 2 hours to get my hair trimmed! Because of that I had to cancel lunch with an out of town friend which was very disappointing. If I had known how late she was running, I would have preferred to reschedule or come later on that day. I plan on trying her again since I think my experience was out of the norm.
Elenie is the best stylist in S.F.! She did an amazing job with my hair. I'm especially particular with my haircut, if if isn't cut right I can not do a thing with it, she has excellent customizing & finishing techniques that make it easy to work with my hair. I actually can't wait to style my hair ,which I can go at last 3 days without washing. I use to go to "high end S.F salons" which were not bad . but not as great as Elenie's! She is also friendly, kind and has great conversation. Also gives a great shampoo. She deserves 10 stars! thanks Elenie you are a doll!
I really wish I lived in San Fransisco to have Elenie as my only hairstylist, things would be a lot easier. A lot! I've always had bangs and never intend to grow them all the way out and love having them, but every time I try a new hairstylist they don't want to fix my bangs, trim them, or have anything to do with them, so my mom or I have to cut them. Every time I try a new hairstylist I always remember when I had my hair cut by Elenie and how she cut them perfectly then anyone has done before, so that they weren't thick and easy to style, which is amazing for my thick wavy crazy hair. But not only that I remember my whole haircut was great, and she was not afraid to go right into the problem, my extremely thick crazy hair, and made it a lot thinner and with a great style. Oh why don't I live in San Fransisco to get my hair done by her and only her all the time!! This reminds me I need to have her do my hair soon one day, now don't you waste your time, get an appointment from her quick! She has a great warming personality, making you feel welcomed and comfortable. Always smiling, ready to laugh and is Greek what else could you ask for?
Senior portraits were coming up and it was the first time I was going to get bangs. Those Chinese lady cheap haircuts just weren't gonna cut it, not this time. So onto Yelp I went in search of a 5-star rated stylist. And Elenie was everything 5-star. She takes her time to decide with you what's best for your features and be prepared to chat it up with her during your entire haircut. She is very charismatic! Personally, she was too expensive for me for regular haircuts, but I think her prices are on par with other top notch stylists. And unsurprisingly, she said a lot of her clients found her on Yelp!
I am very picky when it comes to my hair and I have to admit I have found the best hairdresser in San Francisco. Elenie is not only fabulous with creating a look that is just for you but she is also very talented and experienced enough to know what colors and cuts will make you glow! My auburn red hair color is the best I ever have had. I definitely recommend her.
I went to have my hair hi-lighted and cut today and once again walked out of the salon completely satisfied and feeling like a million bucks. Since moving to SF a year and a half ago I have been searching for a great hairstylist- one who's attentive to what you want, is friendly, and truly cares that you leave satisfied. I found that and so much more in ELENIE at Salon D...she is amazing. She is such a sweet and caring person and mega-talented at what she does. I strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful hairstylist at a beautiful full service salon.
My stylist Elenie is fabulous! She is proffessional, outgoing and fun! I would recomend her to anyone looking for a great cut or color. She is cutting edge and always on time! The salon is well kept and very cute!! She has her own business line so make sure to book appointments direct!!! I have been going to Elenie for over a year almost every 4 weeks she has turned my hair from jet black to blonde no other hair stylist could do it I have been so happy with her!!!
