i've been going here regularly for over a year and am very pleased with it. it's clean and quiet, and both massage therapists I've used are very good.
The frequent buyer program is a great deal too, which is so helpful to those of us in need of monthly bodywork to work out the kinks and knots.

Five stars for Sherry at Elements in Belmont.  She is so nurturing, caring, and genuinely sweet.  I had the fortune of having her for my massages.  I actually got a package of 5 massages and found her to be absolutely wonderful.

The decor of this place is so relaxing.  Deep browns that are calming are throughout the establishment.  Comfy tables (heated), soft music and light -- and best of all SHERRY.

I would recommend her to anyone who wants an awesome massage.  I've had about - well, I've had at least 200 massages in my life, and she was above and beyond most people I've seen.

If I lived closer to Belmont, I'd become a regular.  If you live near Belmont, you should become a regular.

Ask for Sherry!  Tell her Melissa sent ya!

The walls are very thin.  Apparently the business is above some type of garage (or so I've been told) so, on a Saturday morning or afternoon you can hear men talking below.

I've been here several times where the masseuse started late and finished early.  To the studio's credit, they provided me with a credit to be used for a future massage.  But, it happened twice.

I have always had success scheduling a same-day massage here!  That is wonderful for those emergency massage days!  And yes, the "free" water bottle at the end of the session is a nice touch!

    --UPDATE--
Elements has recently raised its rates by $10.  Now, a 55-minute massage costs $79, add a 10% tip and that brings you to $91.  This is way too pricey for the duration of massage and quality of service, and I am sincerely disappointed.  Are they trying to reinvent themselves as an upscale establishment?  Are they trying to encourage membership participation?  Could somebody from Elements please weigh in?  I know of many other Boston-area establishments that are more upscale, offering better service, and charging less.  I hope the price increase helps their business, but I sense that in order to remain competitive, the price should not have been increased.

Once again, at today's appointment, I was taken to the massage room five minutes late, and eventually the masseuse started the massage ten minutes past my appointment time.  The $79 55-minute massage I paid for today was actually 45.

I will never visit Elements again.

Very soothing atmosphere, everything from colors to reception.  I particularly like how much they can cater the massage to your needs.  I've tried different therapists and all have a different specialty and deepness.  So make sure to tell the receptionist when you book your appointment what you are looking for.  Then reiterate to your therapist what you want.
I have gone 3 three times to get my necked worked on (stress-related) and have left feeling great with no pain for days.  The whole thing is all about relaxing.

I've used many local massage centers/spas (MassageWorks, Healthworks for Women, Waddington's) and have gone to Elements three times now. I would never have known about them if it had not been for one of those Val-Pak coupons in the mail. The first massage for new customers was $49; the second was $59 (a special).

    I'll start with the positives.

PROS: friendly staff, pleasant reception area and treatment rooms. The massage therapists I've seen have all been friendly and professional. I have been able to book same-day appointments, which is a HUGE plus when I'm feeling stressed out.

CONS: I have yet to have a full 55-minute massage there. The first couple of times I thought "Wow, that went by very quickly" and the most recent experience was definitely 45 minutes. I showed up on time and the therapist was still setting the room up. No problem, but I should have gotten the time I paid for. I don't know if the 55 minutes includes room set up, disrobing and re-clothing, etc. or if it's meant to be 55 minutes of massage.

The location is not the easiest to find or get to if you're not familiar with Belmont. Also, as each therapist has a different style, don't assume that you're going to get the same treatment each time. One therapist ignored my feet (a disappointment!) while another one massaged them (ahhhh).

Also, while reasonable by Boston-area standards ($69), bear in mind that you're encouraged to tip. Each room has a suggested tip amount, starting with 20% and going all the way up to 40%, which I find a bit presumptuous.

I'll give Elements another chance, given that it's great to have a massage place that has same-day appointments...but I find it erroneous to call a 45-minute massage by anything other than what it is: 45 minutes. I'm going to speak up next time.

My mind was completely put at ease when I walked through the doors of Elements Therapeutic Massage on Saturday. Any business that decorates in a warm, chocolate brown color gets two thumbs (aka 4 stars) from me. But what really put this over to the 5 star rating was the awesome customer service I received, the super-cool masseuse, and the killer massage I got.

When I made the appointment at work on Friday, I was asked if I had any medical problems. Well, I'm knocked up but not telling my coworkers yet, so I (of course) said, "Nope." They were able to book me an appointment the very next morning -- Unheard of! So when I arrived, I mentioned the whole "not telling work" scenario, and they insisted on getting me a masseuse who specialized in prenatal massage. After moving around appointments (which I felt horrible about), they fit me in at the same time -- all with a smile on their faces and a "We're happy to make it work for you!" attitude. The girl at the front desk was so friendly, kind, and eager to make it happen.

After 5 minutes, my masseuse came around and introduced herself. We walked back through a dark hallway to a nice, neat, CLEAN little room. For the next 80 minutes, I moaned, I drooled, and I relaxed. I fell asleep and woke up at the end incredibly pleased that I was so relaxed I had slept through 60% of my appointment. That never happens to me. After changing and getting my own bottle of water, I used their restroom (also sparkling clean) and went to pay the bill.

80 minutes for $95, with a $10 discount on my next appointment was a steal. I paid, tipped generously, and immediately rebooked an appointment two weeks out. E.T.M. has Back Bay style with suburb pricing, and I would recommend it to anyone. Make the trip to B-mo. I promise you'll like it.

Elements, Newton does not look very attractive from the outside because of the generic storefront but the service here is actually very good!  Receptionist is always helpful and friendly.  I've never been here where I felt like its too crowded.  I've made appointments the day before and there always seem to be an open masseuse which is great.  I've been to places where I have to make appointments weeks out and thats just terrible if you have pain.

I come for the sports massage and I feel that I get great attention and service from the masseuses here.  The rooms are very zen and calming and my favorite thing here is the heated bed which really loosens the muscles even before the massage.  I always leave here feeling great with a bottle of water in my hands.  Can't ask for more!

I signed up for the monthly auto-debit program which is great.  I get to go once a month and the fee is automatically taken from my account.  If I don't go that month, my visit is rolled over to the next month.  Also, I got an extra 10 bucks credit for my birthday.

I'm very glad I found this place!

I wanted to address that the staff is extremely attentive that you get a good massage.  They ask immediately after the session if it was a good session, and try to correct matters if something didn't go right.

With flu & cold season kicking in, it is expected that a therapist may be out due to sickness, but they try their best to accomodate for those unexpected occurrences.

In comparison to other therapists in the area, it is a decent value for the money.

I had an 80 minute massage with Loretta-Marie, and she was fantastic!  She made sure I was comfortable and frequently asked if I liked the level of pressure she used (I did!).  She wasn't chatty during the massage, which I appreciate.  I felt like I was made of jelly by the time the massage was finished.

My only complaint, and the reason I can't give 5 stars, is that the massage space is next door to another business and I could hear people talking through the walls.  Loretta-Marie asked the front desk to tell them to keep it down, and it did get quieter after that.  But by the end of the session I could hear them again.  I got the sense that it's a pretty frequent problem.

The massage itself was worth 5 stars.  It's a shame about the space, but it isn't enough to keep me from going back.

I received a massage here as a (very) belated Christmas present in September. I had just moved apartments, so my massage was just what I needed. Low lights, soft music, and strong skilled hands eased every achy muscle from head to toe. My masseuse, Raffi, was excellent, he knew what he was doing, and even suggested some stretches for me to do based on where I was tense. I will absolutely be going back!

I have gotten a lot of massages over the years and even went to school for it, but I have never received a prenatal massage before today. It was a little disappointing not being able to lay on my belly, but that is by no means their fault, it's this big baby inside me saying no-way-jose! I am 38 weeks pregnant and have had back pain for the past 2 months straight so I thought this would be a damn good idea. It was! I was really happy with my masseuse, Tanya. She was good, explaining why she couldn't give me more pressure or massage certain spots, because of this whole pregnancy thing. She spent a lot of time on my back and really worked out a lot of pained spots. it felt soooooo good. I haven't had much foot or leg pain but that didn't mean she left those out! I have never had my feet massaged the way she did it, perhaps it was my side angle, but it was really nice. I wished I could be in there all day.
The spa was nice too. It was calming, a nice chocolate brown instead of all the clean sterile white or 90's sage green walls you see at all the other spas. It was clean, well set up, and they didn't make you feel uncomfortable at all. I have been to some spas where you change and then have to sit in a waiting room with your robe on and I don't like that too much, this was nice, each room is quite private, cozy and welcoming. I really liked all the decor. The prices are pretty decent too, WAY cheaper than Boston or Cambridge! Parking is a plenty out front on the street. I refuse to go back to the old massage places again and can't wait to try this place postpartum. Someone recommended this place to me, I probably never would have gone in if not, but I will recommend it to everyone I know now! The location is unexpected and a tad strange but once you are inside it's a great place!
    one bad thing?
The typical ocean sounds/relaxing music shit was playing the whole time. I really hate that stuff. I can see how it's good and all, but I say no thanks.
Other than that, I will go back most definitely!

If you're looking for discount prices for quality massages, see Raffi, Kevin, or Sherry (my list is growing). They each have different specialties, and I want to take each of them home with me anytime. Sherry is the first massage therapist who gave me the deep pressure I ask for. Kevin introduced me to myofascial release (I highly recommend this modality for anyone who enjoys deep pressure). Raffi is my current crush in this place. He does magical myofascial release (very different style from Kevin) on trouble spots I know about and some I did not know about. All three therapists listened and communicated with me throughout. I'm a member here and love that you can get $59 monthly massages, and then $49 for any additional sessions after that. What a deal! The receptionists are friendly, professional, and eager to accomodate my ridiculous last minute requests anytime they can. I'm a big fan.
