3 reviews for Eleanor Pardee Park
My boys and I just got back from our first playtime at Eleanor Pardee Park. Good times. Some of the highlights:
+ "Zip line" feature on the larger climbing structure
+ Cool layout of larger climbing structure in general
+ Several tipped oak trees great for climbing
+ Clean and well maintained like most PA parks
+ Eucalyptus trees lining the park
+ Picturesque rolling lawns
Minor drawbacks:
- No bathrooms, though apparently this is under debate with City Council
- Several people running dogs off leash, though signs say leash only
- Picnic area seemed a bit run down (again only by PA standards)
In all a great local park and we're excited to return.

Before we moved to the neighborhood, we checked this park out and loved it from the start! We go here almost every other day now.
It has a spacious lawn (good for soccer games, flying kites and throwing baseballs) and has 2 playgrounds to choose from -- one has bigger climbing structures, a sand/water area and big-kid swings, and the other is shaded with a small structure and 2 baby/2 big-kid swings surrounded by sand.
There's also a paved "bowl" (they held a free summer concert and kids can practice biking, scooting or skating here), a paved walking path and community gardens. Just the perfect place that has something for everyone.
Emily Pardee's beautiful tribute to her daughter Eleanor, this park boasts more than 9 acres of fun, spaces for reflection or stretching out for a nap in the sun, a jogging path and a multi-purpose stage area. Pardee, who was a community activist, deeded the land to Palo Alto in 1920 in memory of her daughter, Eleanor, who died of typhoid as a young girl. There's plenty here to keep active youngsters busy for hours including a sand and water play area, a zip line and play structures for different development stages. I've always appreciated that the play equipment is fenced in giving little ones who think bolting is hilarious a tangible border to play in.
