12 reviews for Eldorado Hotel and Spa
Located within walking distance to Santa Fe's main plaza the Eldorado Hotel is quiet, elegant and beautiful. We arrived in Santa Fe early, around 11:00am and headed straight for the hotel to drop the car off and check the bags so we could do a little shopping. The lobby was buzzing with activity as there was some sort of convention going on. We went ahead and asked if we could check in and surprise...yes! Sweet, we were in our hotel room 15 minutes later. The front desk staff was so gracious and helpful.
Our room was located on the fifth/top floor away from the elevators and ice machine as requested. Our room was beautiful with a king bed, balcony and fireplace! The bathroom was small but beautifully appointed with shiny hardware, beautiful tile, vanity, plush towels and chi-chi toiletries.
We requested a room with a sunset view so we spent the evening on the balcony sipping champagne and watching the sunset behind the mountains (actually there were some low clouds but still it was beautiful).
The fiance booked us the Romance package which included champagne, strawberries, his/her massages @ the spa, $100 towards dinner at The Old House restaurant, breakfast and late check out at 2:00pm.
Everything about this hotel is understated yet refined. The staff fall all over themselves to be accommodating yet they are discreet. We fully enjoyed our romantic one night stay!

Great location! I stayed in a junior suite.......room was very comfortable, with updated furnishings and flat screen tv.
Fitness center is good for a hotel, but I had a rough time running my daily 5 miles...the elevation made it hard to run.
Service is outstanding....just like the Ritz!

Hmmmm...okay....could you say the BEST MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE? The tastiest, the most delicious, the most bursting with amazing flavor, the most alive food ever. It was like a wizzard was in the kitchen putting magic star dust in the food. Maybe it was black magic. It was certainly some kind of witchcraft.
I know...this is a hotel....I know...I either am crazy or have no taste (or I have a lot of taste, but all of it's bad). I know how strange this sounds but I'm telling you - un effin believable!!!!
To be fair, I ate here 14 years ago (LOL), so today, who knows (oh Yelp, where were you then?).
Sanity check: After eating here I had 2 of my friends stop here for dinner (about 13 years ago) and they too agreed they had never had such a delicious meal in their entire life. And all three of us BTW were raised in Manhattan, all of us from pretty well to do families, all of us eating at some of the finest restaurants New York had to offer.
All I had there was a quessadilla and it was unlike anything - I mean come on, a quessadilla has to be pretty damn good to make me want to call this the best restaurant ever. My buddies had rattlesnake and some other stuff.
What can I say, who knows if it's any good now, but it's certainly worth a shot if you're in the neighborhood.

This review is solely based on the Sunday and Holiday buffets that my family has been going to since we discovered that the Eldorado had one.
This is quite possibly the best buffet that Santa Fe has to offer, and I would say that it deffinately competes on a state-wide level as well. You're paying a lot of money, but with attendants virtually manning your table, and the food being cooked to excellence, it's a fair price to pay. Note that reservations are really helpful if you want the prime seating, but seriously, any party under 50 will have a grand time here for their brunch needs.
El Dorado, oh El Dorado, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I am not really a picky girl. I swear. I expect a hotel to have pleasant service, warm and clean beds and clean carpet. Anything above and beyond that is always a great bonus. I had made reservations at another hotel. When it didn't meet my basic criteria, I spent over one hour looking for a hotel that did. El Dorado is totally awesome. The gentleman at the front desk, (I swear, he looked like Rod Stewart, only younger and much better looking), was very friendly and hospitable. Also, he went over all the hotel amenities and was so very helpful. I really did appreciate his kindness and sincerity after my long hotel hunt.
Valet parking was quick and efficient. The expansive hotel lobby was rustic elegance, yet also warm and friendly. My room was over sized and really very nice. I had a mountain view from my window, I liked the understated elegance of the interior design. Plus, I liked the warm and cozy touches in the room.
I wasn't able to take advantage of the spa, but the next time I visit Santa Fe, I will definitely give it a try.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel.

We Pricelined this hotel for Thanksgiving weekend after seeing rates reach over $200 on most properties. We were able to get a good deal on this property, which i had known nothing about. The rooms were very comfortable with a nice large couch and chair to lounge in while watching football on the flat screen TV. The bed was comfortable with nice linens and the in room coffee was even great.
The property boasts a highly rated restaurant, which we didn't get to try, but will next time. The small fitness center had enough equipment to do a decent workout with views of the city from the treadmills.
Valet parking was underground and brought around our car very promptly.
Nice touches like fruit in the lobby were available for guests.
The location is perfect, within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and bars.
I would most definitely stay here again! I have not one complaint.

Everyone here has been very nice. The man checking us in, the gal giving us directions, the valet ($16) and everyone else!
The El Dorado is a gorgeous hotel. I wrote a review earlier and I hope I've properly erased it because I was in a bad mood due to the pool closure.
The hotel is undergoing some exterior construction which has not been noisy so far, just kinda a bummer because we so badly *needed* to swim this afternoon. It's Easter Sunday and lots of things are closed & we were soooo looking forward to sitting as the sun set & then leisurely strolling to dinner.
We got this room on Orbitz for $139, it was rated as 4 stars, I'd say that is quite fair. The room is large, decorated in mildly Southwestern design (I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of this style) and the soaps and shampoos are lovely & the same ones used in the deluxe spa downstairs.
This is well within walking distance of all the shops and places to go in Santa Fe and right around the corner from the Georgia O' Keefe museum.

We were in the middle of a 3 week road trip when we spent a few night in Santa Fe. The hotel staff was nice. The room was comfortable, maybe a little worn. We really enjoyed our stay until the last night. We came back to our room filled with smoke. The smoke detector in our room didn't work so no one was alerted. Turns out our fireplace had backed up? There was a fire lit in it earlier in the day, but it had been extinguished for at least 3 or 4 hours. The hotel did nothing but bring some fans in and open the windows to get the smoke out. It was freezing outside! So we asked to be moved to another room. Unfortunately, all our clothes, coats, and luggage were saturated with smoke. The hotel didn't offer any compensation except to launder our clothes. We had to leave the next morning so that wasn't even an option. We were more upset about the broken smoke detector. Thank god there wasn't a fire!

So....Santa Fe.....Where to stay? It is hard from looking at the reviews on Yelp. For some reason this city does not have their Yelp community together. Eldorado. I would say no.
The rooms are quite nice. Newly renovated. Flat Panel TV, Ipod docking station, Wifi, etc, etc
It is soo big, no personality, tacky Sante Fe style, and not a place in the hotel you can feel cozy.
We went to Inn at the Anasazi and had the best time. Stay there. This place is too big and feels like a corporate hotel and not personal.
We recently stayed at the Eldorado for 5 nights, for a conference. The hotel is large but it has a very "personal" feeling, the interior is really pretty, all of the staff were exceptionally pleasant, the rooms were wonderful (large & comfortable) and the location was great. BUT: we had three really annoying problems, which indicated a serious lack of communication among their staff - and when you're paying that much money, such ridiculous situations shouldn't occur.
I recommend their weekly Sunday buffet brunch (11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.); it was lovely (reservations are a good idea). It's pricey, but it was a very pleasant and leisurely experience. We had an 11:30 reservation and ended up lingering until 2:00, without being made to feel at all rushed. The food selection was perfect (not sickeningly overwhelming, but still quite sufficient) and very tasty. Their desserts were beautiful and delicious. Our waiter and the guy who refilled the water glasses/etc. were both very attentive and endearing. A pianist played pleasant music throughout the meal, so it was delightful all-around.
Very nice, quiet, clean, upscale hotel at the base of San Francisco street which leads up into the main square. If I did not know bettter, I would think I was in a Hyatt hotel. Very similar furnishings and room sizes. They are a bit greedy with the internet charges, but you can get it free from the Hilton's free wireless network.
