Anything less than five stars is a horrible, horrible slap in the face to this fine establishment.
backstory: i have a wedding to go to this weekend. looking disheveled and 'meh' is NOT acceptable for a relatively fancy wedding (really? get outttt), so on par with how i operate, i wait until the DayDayBefore to get ready.
it's 2.50p and i need a haircut. knowing that i was at a fantastic place last month, i give them a ring to see if they can pencil me in for today. after getting my information, Rita had remembered me (which is either great or horrible, most likely in between) and was looking forward to seeing me. at 4pm. amazing. and with Malvin! stars were alligned people!
i get shampoo'd after a quick consultation with Malvin about what i was wanting/looking for. Becca was quite fantastic about listening to me talk and talk and talk and talk...and talk. but was worried about the temperature of the water and overall nice (as well as hubba hubba nice).
Malvin is waiting for me and delivers a nice cold CustomerService. delicately takes most of my 'bulk' off and trims my beard.
let me tell all you Yelpers something; nobody has trimmed my beard before so it was a weird experience, but i *trust* Malvin. he did a fantastic job.
i finish and i go to pay.
you know those awkward situations where you have talked to someone for a night and not really know what to say to that person next time you see them? I was kinda having one of those moments, BUT she didnt. She *I'M AN IDIOT AND FORGOT HER NAME, SO WHEN IT COMES BACK TO ME, I WILL EDIT THIS SECTION AGAIN AND FEEL LESS IDIOT-Y (the Polish wax'er)* had kinda waited and talked to me. More importantly, she remembered many things and caught up with me. SHE GENUINELY CARED. as did the whole staff.
consider me sold on this place. even if the people who i recommended this place to did NOT show up. i found my place.
so if you ever need a nice trim, or a massage, or a wax, or whatever, this place is the one to go to.
ORRRRR
when the people at the reception take notice of the embarrassing young lad, at least they MAY look past the embarrassment and ask my co-workers where i got the most amazing hair cut ever.
and i will relay to them, from Elan Hair, Body & Sole.
When it comes to feelings, emotions, and all of that gushy stuff-- I am so NOT a girly girl. But, I am into pretty dresses, high heels, luxe handbags, shiny lip gloss and push-up bras. Duh.
And of course, spas! Because, we like to get pampered while you're out there perfecting your golf game. And, a day of beauty is roughly the same cost once you factor in your beers, beers and then some more beers off the course. Right?
Back to the topic at hand. I was smitten with Elan from the moment I walked in. Gorgeous wood floors, flattering lighting (don't know why more salons can't get this right!) and a soothing color scheme. There's even a separate room used for children's haircuts so you won't be awaken from your beauty coma should the terrified tot start screaming during that first haircut. They were throwing a party last night and were indulging clients with yummy appetizers and dessert along with loads of wine. Hello, I think we're going to be besties!
They offer a full spectrum of services, ranging from cuts and color to massages, make-up application, semi-permanent false eyelashes application, facials and luxurious pedicures.
Speaking of pedicures, the signature LUXE pedicure is devoted to the pursuit of hedonism. La da da da. Sure, my guy down the street can spiff up my tootsies nicely but this treatment is to pedicures what La Mer is to face cream. Do it!
Rita has been doing my hair for as long as I can remember and I've followed her wherever she has gone. So when I found out she was opening a new salon, I knew I would love it. And I was right.
I have been to Elan numerous times now and have been satisfied every time. I got a manicure and pedicure from Janette and she was the best. The pedicure room has two chairs and is semiprivate, so it's perfect to get a pedi with a friend! And the massage chairs....are amazing. The manicure was great and they have all the OPI colors that you could dream of!
I also have gotten my eyebrows done here a couple of times. Due to scheduling and my appointment times, I've had two different people work my eyebrows and they both were great. They listened to what I wanted (which is a little on the thicker side) and actually did it! I have had experiences where the esthetician just takes off whatever they want, but that was not the case here. They actually listened to what I wanted and made sure I left totally happy.
For hair, I personally go to Rita and love her. She is amazing. She knows what works with your hair and what doesn't, and I always leave with exactly what I had pictured - if not better! I recommended Elan to a friend of mine, and she got her hair cut by Lisa and was just as impressed. My friend usually doesn't have the best of luck when it comes to new stylists, but she was totally satisfied with Lisa. She left with a fun new cut that, again, was exactly what she was looking for! My friend plans on going back to Lisa, she was so happy with the results!
All in all I'm giving Elan 5 stars. The spa and hair services are great, everyone is super friendly, and the salon itself couldn't be cuter. Definitely give it a try if you live in the area!
Wow. The staff at Elan was amazing. Parking? A breeze, even on a Friday night. I had my brows shaped (1st time waxed!) and had heavenly chair massage at the Yelp event a few hours ago. I will be back for a pedicure next month. Be prepared to be pampered. They don't mess around with the luxe treatments and ambiance here.
What a great Salon, I recently stopped in for a look during a memorial day open house and I couldn't believe how classy this salon was.
I was blown away by how hospitable the staff was, most specifically a woman named Kara, she was giving blow dries for walk in's. She helped me out so much and was able to answer all my questions with a great smile and very useful advice.
I made an appointment with Kara a few weeks later and was blown away by her. She was so helpful with ideas for my hair, I was looking to change my look and the finished product was jaw dropping. She was so attentive to every detail, but still warm and congenial it made for a great experience. I was nervous that we were making such a drastic change to my look, but the whole time she reassured me that it would look great and i'd be happy with the finished product. I've never been happier with a hairstylist.
The Decor was great, it provided a very warm and bright atmosphere that just welcomed you into the business. Also I was surprised at all the services they offered at the salon, anything you could think of from hair cuts and colors all the way down to massages and waxing.
To sum it up id say,
It's a convenient one-stop shop for all your pampering needs.
With a wonderful staff and a great atmosphere to relax in.
I'd recommend Elan to anyone.
I'm a short haired gal, who needs her hair cut ALL THE TIME. I had been salon-hopping since I moved here a year ago, and was getting pretty frustrated. Then I found Rita at Elan, and she totally rocks.
She cut my hair in a way that worked perfectly with my natural texture, and the shape of my face. It grew out well, too. RIta knows what's up, and I'm super pleased.
I just had a great experience at Elan and recommend it highly!
I am very picky about salons and have bounced around - and compared - a lot of them. Elen's atmosphere is soothing and pretty: clean and professional and just lovely. They got me in the same day because I needed color help. I'd had bad color elsewhere and needed it fixed.
Renee, the stylist/colorist who helped me was great. She listened to my concerns and suggested a very reasonably priced solution. Instead of saying that I needed a complete re-do, or corrective color, or moer highlights, she suggested we start with a good color toner and see if that works. It did, and I was delighted. No need to pay more and put my hair through more. I liked that she suggested this alternative, especially when I came in clearly willing to have a lot more done (so they could have done - and charged me - a lot more).
Renee didn't cut my hair today, but she will next time I come. She did take the time to style and blow-dry it, which was also very nice. I've been to many an upscale salon where they color your hair and then send you off the dryers. This was much, much better.
They are one of the few salons that uses Aveda color, which I think is much nicer than Goldwell or Wella. They also have lots of Aveda and other products, but there is NO pushing of products here.
I am delighted and will be back again and again. Try it out!
