We looked into Elan Esprit, and really liked the description of their program. Then we found out that the owner, manager, and primary teacher are all Scientologists. I'm a little too worried about indoctrination at this age to let my child go there.
This preschool has a lot going for it. We chose it over others because they did not have any bad incidents on their record and they use flexible teaching methods.
Pros:
1. Low teacher turnover.
2. Exceptional, caring teachers.
3. Field trips to parks, restaurants, farms.
4. Enforced nap/quiet time.
5. Structured academic activities mixed with fun stuff.
6. Meals can be brought from home (you don't have to purchase food).
7. Teachers are sensitive to vegetarian children.
8. TV and movies are not used.
Cons:
1. No grassy play area.
2. One classroom (small space) for 35 kids ranging from 18 months to 5 yrs old.
3. Bathroom does not have stalls, so there is no privacy for the kids when they "potty".
4. It would be great if the kids did more painting/art on their own.
5. Expensive.

Update 9/14/07
My husband and I are really frustrated with this school for several reasons...We've tried talking to teachers, owner, etc but problems keep popping up. It has NOTHING to do with the Scientology thing either (the headmistress is not a scientologist, we checked) but that doenst help matters. The teacher turn over is also high.
I would not recommend this school, so Ive taken off stars.
