This place is off the chain GREAT! They are known for their greasy tacos and menudo and that is what I stick to! Their red chile enchiladas are a miss, coagulated blood looking red chile is not my thing, but hey, whatever.
The place is a total dive, but isn't that usually where the good food is? -

El Toro...what can I say. The steak tacos are good and take heed my dear yelpers, greasy is a perfect adjective for them.
The bar is stocked and the beer flows easily. The menu is small, with burritos and tacos a plenty . The gringo breakfast will set u back about 5 bucks and get u enough food to leave a grown man satisfied. There is no children's menu but they do have Tang. Menudo and red beer is the breakfast of champions on a Sunday morning with a hangover to cure.
The decor is...almost like the bar in the movie dusk til dawn...almost.

Review from Doug Y.
I neglected to mention that this used to be my go to spot for an early breakfast if I was working on this side of town. Well the band finished up playing early enough at the Cherry Creek Sneak so that we could still make breakfast at El Toro (breakfast is only served 'til 11:00am). I ordered a red beer and my regular huevos rancheros w/bacon and got potatoes instead of rice with my frijoles. I think this has to be the best bacon I've had in denver and I've been eating this green chile since... well before most of the yelpers here were born I think. The wife had a combination with a smothered burrito, tostada, and one of their infamous greasy tacos. Sorry, I was already working on my breakfast so I didn't get a pic of the size of her lunch. Needless to say she brought most of her burrito home. Chicano mex deluxe!

Another WOW! The beef tacos are greasy, but the reason? The beef, chile and cheese are placed in an (un-fried) corn tortilla and fried in oil but quick. The result? The best ground beef taco you have ever had! I was looking at some of the ratings. The chile to me is more like gringo style. I'm use to the gravy thicker sauce (chile stew) type chile. But make no mistake! The menudo is the best in town! The closest is Mexico City on Larimer street down town which is Ed's (el toro) brother. Esther (ed's daughter) is the best waitress in the Denver Metro area! THAT my friend is no B.S.! She will have your order there in minutes, and I'm not talking about 30 + minutes!

AKA Greasy Taco. My coworkers were raving about this place just north of the on-ramp I-70. It was crazy. I think they make the tacos and then put them in the fryer. then add some lettuce and tomato, put them on a plate and watch the grease collect. It drips off the taco. The cheese gets burned and crunchy on the edges....like with grilled cheese. I guess they have other stuff on the menu, but the tacos are where it's at.

When they say hot, they mean it. Green chili was great. Tacos excellent. Tostada good, mainly because of the tortilla. Burrito was run-of-the-mill. Son ranks meat options: 1) Steak, 2) Chicken, 3) Beef . Big screen TV had Jerry Springer, which suited both the clientele and staff. If you gotta go, hold it. There's only one way to cure the mens room: Burn it down.
