Late night or early evening, the tasty, tasty tacos from "the taco truck" hit the spot. I've introduced so many people to this place. I introduced a friend of mine who is from Mexico to this place. He was really craving a taste of home but doubted the authenticity of their tacos. Needless to say, he fell to his knees with the first bite. ANd there's something to be said a bout a place when people order 50 to 60 tacos to go. Yes, I've been the unfortunate soul in line behind such an order a few times. Just ask anyone - anyone in the know that is - where THE taco truck is and you'll find your way to this mighty taco truck.

great tacos and only tacos, but awesome. I went to their restaurant during the daytime once and it wasnt as good as the truck. They didnt even offer their awesome chicharron tacos!
I dont even go to that other truck up the street anymore. Maybe to just to whore up the free sides and salsas

There was a lot of hype going on about this truck so I decided to try it out. In total, I've been here 3 times.
The first time: excellent
2nd time: mediocre
3rd time: mediocre
The tacos are a little on the pricy side for the size you get, and don't really have any special flavoring or anything that stands out. The one thing I do enjoy about this truck is their chicken tacos, which beat out any others I've had.
Maybe people really love this place because it's open late night and food tastes good when you're drunk. Whatever the case, this place isn't bad by any means--it's definitely one of the better trucks in the SGV/LA area.

On my last night of a girl's only weekend with my BFF, we decided to look on yelp and see what we could do late at night, hence, the trip down to El Taquito Mexicano Taco Truck. My friend said she had seen various trucks along Fair Oaks and she didn't know which one to go to, so we followed the yelpers' advice and drove PAST the yellow one (which was empty by the way) and made our way to this one which is parked in the parking lot of the Nishikawa Auto Center.
I made sure to bring my camera because although there were photos of the taco truck there were no photos of the food. My BFF and I couldn't decide on which ones we wanted so ended up getting one each of al pastor, carnitas, lengua, asada and then decided to get a chicharron as well. We squeezed the lemon wedge onto all of the tacos and then dug in. Funnily, we couldn't distinguish which was which, although each tasted different to the other.
When we were done, the man (Garcia) asked us how we liked 'em and we said they were awesome. However, we didn't know which was which. So ya know what Garcia did? He gave us a plate and put a little each of the meats and then told us which was which while we tasted. I must say, I never thought I'd like chicharron, but it was my favorite.
Now I was feeling even more adventurous, so I asked to have a cabeza (brain) taco. Unfortunately, they didn't have any left.
I noticed that they had a "People Love Us on Yelp" sticker so I asked them about it and they said yeah they had only received it not too long ago etc etc and I said well no one took photos of your tacos so I'm taking them and putting them on yelp. The guys got rather excited and the younger guy even offered us free tacos for a good review and I told him that even if they didn't comp us the tacos (which they didn't) I would give them a great review because it was THAT good!
What an awesome end to an awesome weekend with my awesome BFF!!!

This place is perfect for that late night food run just to hit the spot.....I left work late tonight, and was looking for a quick bite to eat...This place was still open, and it was almost 10pm....sweeet. You gotta make sure that this is the correct taco truck (there's another one a couple blocks north on fair oaks that threw me off).
I got the asada tacos, and they were awesome. A tad bit on the dry and chewy side for my taste, but definitely tasted great. They give you the chopped onions with cilantro and hot sauce..top it off with some lemon and bam..you got a tasty taco. I actually just got back from Rosarito couple months ago and the taco here reminded me a lot of Taquiera 2000 in Mexico.
The service was quick and friendly, and the price is awesome ($1.20/taco)...Next time I'll have to try the different types of meat that everybody here raves about...you guys claim that it's way better than the asada...I gotta try 'em out!

Some of the best tacos I've ever had. This truck is easy to miss if you've never been before. I'm surprised this it took me this long to find out about this place seeing as I've lived here forever.
At $1.25/taco, it's pretty cheap.... but then again, I think I'd be able to eat to eat at least 10-12 tacos since they're pretty small. I chose the asada tacos which were delicious. The guys were pretty cool and handled our sizable order in no time. Awesome that they were open at around 10pm since everything seems to shut down around that time.

The Carnitas here are SUUUUUUUUUPER soft (make sure you get there at 4pm right when they open to get that nice carve off the loin flavor!
The Asada is "alright" but I don't think I will be getting any of that, now that THE CARNITAS ARE THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!!

I have to agree with some of the reviews about this place... very good but over-rated at times i think due to the nostalgia that people get after having visited this place in a drunken stupor. This taco truck defenitely "delivers" some really good authentic tacos but 5 stars might be a stretch. I had the carne asada and the lengua tacos which were both really good. Both meats were really tender and juicy and go with high recommendations. I will say though that IF i did go to this place as a college student on a budget or as a stumbling drunk after a night of clubbing, i would have definitely given it 5 stars!

I should be considered as part of their marketing because I have convinced my whole family, all my friends, and co workers that this place is the place to go to satisfy their taco needs.....
Their carne asada tacos with salsa verde is so so good, I would choose this over a nice dinner with NO hesitation :)

How could I pass up writing a review for a Taco truck?
Let me get this out of the way, anyone not willing to trust a taco truck or any other truck for their food is insane. The majority of Los Angeles film crews live on food off a truck or catering service, which is in essence, glorified truck food.
Growing up in East LA, you learn to accept these trucks as a provider of a good quality quick meal that helps the community and develops future growth. The majority of the time a taco truck gains success and eventually plants their feet on a location becoming an establishment of good food for years to come.
What do I get here? Carne Asada, Al Pastor and Lengua. Put the salsa on the side so I can pour it myself, give me some sliced radish and I'm good to go.
There's something about eating while standing around eating a taco on a cold Friday or Saturday night after all the festivities that just ends the night perfectly.
The true wonder of Yelp is to help each other discover great food and great places. This taco stand has been in the same location for as long as I can remember. The quality varies but is usually top form and after a night of drinking, roaming or just generally being out and about, a taco truck can make you feel at home without having to go through a drive thru.
Here's a nice task you may want to endure. Drive around East Los Angeles at night. Don't worry, you can keep your doors locked. But take a night and just go from taco stand to taco stand. Try one or two at each spot and see which ones are magic and which ones just offer the standard fair. That is the true taco truck adventure. You'll find taste and flavors you never thought existed.
With taco trucks, the roaming cooks with wheels, you have to track them down and enjoy their food before they disappear into the night. At the very least you have El Taquito Mexicano Truck always there as a fall back when you can't find that perfect taco.
I'd advise anyone to think and live outside their comfort zone and brave a taco truck. They really aren't scary, they wont give you the runs and they'll provide a meal at a low cost and most of all, a high reward.
Remember folks, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Ok - I normally don't eat from anything that has wheels and is parked on the street. Living in LA has taught me NOT to eat from a roach coach but this is the one exception - these are the best tacos in the world!!!
I'm Asian but can eat tacos like a true Mexican. The carne asada is great but you have to try the lengua (tongue)...amazing! And I don't normally eat tongue despite being Asian. They are particularly delicious after a night of drinking but I find them equally delicious sober.
Prices are decent and service is quick. If you're going to spend $ for food after a night of drinking this is far better than Taco Bell or Denny's.

Excellent Service.
This is definitely one of the best places to come for a late night snack. The server made a mistake when taking my order (he gave me 4 tacos when I only requested 3) so he said "ON THE HOUSE."
How cool is that?
Go to this place if you ever get the munchies in Pasadena.

Who in their right mind wouldn't rate this place all 5 stars?! I love this place!!! It's worth parking 2 blocks down the street and walking all the way to get the tacos! I normally get the Carne Asada but just recently ventured out and tried the Lengua...GOOD! It's so much softer :)
The last time I went there, I got the verde and red sauce...but the red killed me! It was burning my tongue...but yet, I kept eating it...because it just so damn good. I can live off the "Taco Truck" (as this is the one and only I go to)!!! It's good on any given day...drunk or sober!

This is by far the best taco truck I've been to.
Every time I come home, it is one of the first places I eat at. I always order the carnitas, carne asada, and lengua. the Lengua is super tender and tasty and probably my favorite meat. And at $1.25 a taco, this place can not be beat! Don't get tricked by the yellow taco truck down the street, you definitely have to come to this one!

THE Taco TRUCK of Pasadena baby.
Best cheap eats in the middle of the night after a night of drinking and debauchery. I came here on Wednesday night with friends after my round 2 of celebrating NYE and the food was amazing. Got the chicken and carne asada tacos with cheese. Get the asada, its delicious.
We showed up right before they were gonna close and apparently some couple thought we were rude because they were having a nice romantical midnight snack and we ruined it. We were being "loud and rude" according to him because we were asking things like "WHATS LENGUA? WHATS CABEZA?" and some other random things like intestines or whatever. (I knew what Cabeza was but my friend from Michigan was like--- wait is it clean and safe to eat here?)
OK I am rambling. Just freaking eat here. THE BEST EVER... the ULTIMATE LA Experience.

UPDATE 2/29/08: I stopped by this place for a late bite. I was actually disappointed and dropped 1 star (tempted to drop it down to 3-stars). While it was still good, the al pastor and lengua didn't wow me. I think that nostalgia made me give it a high score (and continues to rank it with 4-stars). the other thing could be that I was dead sober (not a lick of alcohol in me). Is it just me or is their "hot sauce" getting milder? Maybe I should only come here when I've been drinking. And this was the first time that I saw this spot with no line while the truck a block north was busy.
*******************************************
I think I saw someone write that this is the only taco truck that matters... I would have to agree. The 5 stars may be partly due to nostalgia but they are pretty damn good. Back in the day, this use to be the "yellow" taco truck with the red light and then they upgraded.
Great mix of meats from al pastor to lengua to cabeza. Must get the sauce hot. Sure the hot sauce at King Taco is better. The al pastor at El Taurino is tastier. But this is a spot to get everything. Be ready to lick your fingers clean and watch out for dripping grease/sauce.
They also have a shop up the street on Fair Oaks... just north of the 210 since the truck is not around during lunch.
Your first impression may be along the lines of questionable because most people in their right mind would initially think, "How can a roach coach be possibly good?" to which I say, "Well you haven't tried this roach coach"
We all know it as "Taco Truck". The reason being, well, the obvious... it's a truck and has the ability to move from location to location with the turn of a key. And well, they only serve tacos. No burritos, no chimichangas, none of that. Just tacos, with your choice of... 7 meats, cilantro and onions, and either salsa roja (spicy) or salsa verde (mild). Throw in a lemon wedge to douze your tacos with and a handful of sliced radishes, and you're totally set.
And the best part? It's cheap. I don't want to say in hopes that if you read this review, you will want to go and find out for yourself.
I personally didn't discover this place until just recently on a recommendation of a good friend of mine and I trust his judgement in restaurants and food.
This place is perfect for a late night snack as it's open until 1 AM on the weekdays and 3 AM Friday/Saturday. And make sure you bring somewhat of an appetite because once you have a bite, you're going to want more.
Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, I always heard myths of the magnificent, mystical creature that is "The Taco Truck on Fair Oaks," but it took YEARS for me to muster up the courage to actually go and find it. Beware as you may be misled to the evil twin taco truck found just one block north on Fair Oaks. Evil Twin tacos isn't bad, but by eating there, you'll just be settling.
Why El Taquito Taco truck doesn't have 5 stars is beyond me. I've searched far and wide for the perfect taco fix and I present you THE TACO SPOT. The best part about it? Yea... thats right, OPEN UNTIL 3am on Friday and Saturday.
Things you MUST try:
Chicharron - marinated pork (the meat just below the skin so it ends up being amazingly juicy and tender. Top it off with Salsa Verde and a touch of lime... that is heaven. This is easily the most popular taco amongst regulars and they often run out of it later in the night. On a good day, nothing beats a Chicharron but about half the time, the ENTIRE taco will be a big glob of fat. I've thrown away a couple of tacos because there was no meat on it.
Alpastor - stewed pork meat. I've actually come to enjoy Alpastor more so than the Chicharron. It's much more consistent and nearly as delicious.
Carne Asada - also very good, but noticeably "drier" than Chicarron, but equally as satiating.
Lengua - if you eat tongue, its great. If you're Asian... your ancestors did it, so just do it.
Cabeza - contrary to what many believe, its not the brain. Although literally translated, it's "head," it's actually the cheek meat of a cow. Must like Chicharron, it has quite a bit of fat, and thus, is very juicy and flavorful (if not a little too greasy). Not marinated and seasoned as well as Chicharron.
Carnitas - very good. Think Chicharron with less flavor and less fat.
Also, the hot sauce gets pretty hot, so if you need something to cool off your tongue, I've found that their "Pineapple Water" does wonders. Once in a blue moon, they'll have CACTUS COOLER! SERIOUSLY! The sweet nectar of life can be found at El Tacquito!

Come and cure your hang-over, or the late night munchies (Closing at 3A.M. on certain nights!), at this quaint taco truck on S. Fair Oaks. Socialize with the regular customers and the friendly help; enjoy!
Their authentic Mexican tacos are generously filled with the meat of your choosing and their salsas are something for the taste buds to behold. Since tacos are the only item on menu, their meat selection is pretty damn awesome. Better, even, than I've seen at restaurants.
El Taquito Mexicano Truck is the best place for tacos in Pasadena, and, just maybe, in all of Los Angeles County.
While I'm glad that most people have given this taco truck quite favorable ratings, the ones that haven't appear to be of non-Latin descent , which is fine. But because of that they fail to realize (through no fault of their own, mind you.) that this is REAL Mexican food. The meat is suppose to be finely chopped. The tacos are suppose to be that size. The meat is suppose to fall out due to the generous portions of meat. Most importantly, there is suppose to be a simplicity to these delectable tacos that certain people can not fully understand or appreciate due to the fact that they did not grow up with food of this nature.
So, let the nay sayers nay, but let it be known that they err only because they do not know.
My only beef with this place is that they run out of their horchata (rice water) drink way too fast. I love that drink and they make it rather well, so you can imagine my resentful disappointment when they don't have it. Grrr...
I must also confess that the delicious nature of these very tacos helped to orchestrate the appearance of a very special person into my life, for which I'm terribly thankful. Tacos and love. . . What more can one ask for?
Thanks, El Taquito Mexicano Truck!

I have to fill a void in these Yelp reviews - what all these reviews fail to tell you is that when you get hot sauce on your taco, they're not lying. It's like, my god, my mouth is on fire, I don't know what to do, AHHH!! spicy. Not to say it's not good, but OMG, I can't feel my taste buds.
I must admit, while I was eating the first one, I couldn't tell whether the taco was good or not. I mean, I was busy shoving it into my face to finish faster so I didn't have to bear the hot sauce as long. But, after getting through the initial pain, I realized, wow! Is this really lengua? It tastes wonderful! So tender! YUM! I should have ordered more. I should have eaten slower. Why is my mouth still on fire?
Note: After reading all the other reviews, I can't tell whether I'm just weaksauce (no pun intended) or if I just caught it on a spicier day or something. I would like to think I can handle the heat...
**UPDATE**
I think it's a sign when you go back two days later because you're craving their tacos - good for my tummy, bad for my waistline! And now that I've tried both their medium and hot salsas, I must say their hot sauce definitely adds some KICK to it...

Sorry K-Fed, but I'm still loving the tacos from my taco cart guy |http://www.yelp.com/bi...| The tacos are decent here, but when I can't tell which meat is the Chicarron and which is Al Pastor, that has to say something. $1.20/taco, not too bad, but I might hit up places that are closer and probably cheaper. Overall, decent, but not something I'll go out of my way for.

It was a Sat. night around 11:30. We had just finished entertaining some friends at Noreena M's apt. she had mentioned earlier that we were going to get some tacos later tonight after her friends split. I thought maybe she would forget about it and that would be that. After all, we had been drinking a little bit and it was starting to get late. Well, surely she didn't forget and now she was getting quite hungry. If there's one thing I have learned, its never get in the way of a woman and her tape worm. You know the saying hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Well, hell hath no fury like a woman craving tacos!!!
So we hopped in her whip w/god speed towards Pasadena. I think we made record timing because I never knew Pasadena was so close to the west side. As we cruised down Fair Oaks you could see it shimmering in the distance, a beacon in the night. All the drunkards of the eve were making their exodus to this oasis of meat and tortilla.
We walked up to the truck and placed our orders: 4 Al Pastor and 2 Carne Asada tacos w/red and green salsa, 1 Horchata and 1 Coke.
They came up in no time served on a paper plate garnished w/onions, cilantro and radishes. They looked so delicious. We sat down on a brick planter where we proceeded to devour our food. Hot damn! These were probably the best tacos I have ever had no joke! The meat was so tender and the sauce had the perfect kick to it. It was like a fiesta in my mouth but, sans the kids beating on a pinata.
I think I may have just found my new spot for tacos...

The best (and maybe only) place to eat after you leave Old Town Pasadena drunk at 2AM... The tacos are excellent.
SERVICE: The have the fastest service out there (one minute to get your order).
MENU: At $1.25 a taco, it's a little pricier than other taco trucks I've been to. MY FAVORITE PART about all the meats here is that the onions, cilantro, and hot (or medium) sauce are already chopped and mixed into the taco. You don't need to fumble around with anything. Just stand and eat it.
Snap! This place is so good it's surreal. I used to go once a week and plow through six or seven of those bad boys. Asada with the green was what I'm talkin' about. The red rocks too, but man, fuggedaboutit the morning after.

Best god damn taco in the Greater Los Angeles area, possibly the state, and dare I say, maybe the whole nation. The only taco stand that compares is this one joint called 'Tacos Que Barbaroooo!' out off of Av. Yugoslavia and Av. Angola in Mexicali. Allow me to be perfectly honest - 'El Taquito Mexicano' is as close as we mortals shall ever come to gaining a glimpse of what heaven must be like in our lifetimes.
As a callow youth not so long ago, my compadre and I were bagboys at the local Vons across from the Huntington Hospital. Late at night, once we would leave work, the first place we would stop off at before heading home was the 'El Taquito Mexicano' truck. Ever since then I've become a fervent admirer of 'El Taquito.' How could it possibly be otherwise?
Where to begin? The meat is by far the best meat I've had at any taco stand. This meat tastes rather close to how I imagine God or a god-like deity tasting like if they were a taco. The sauce... THE SAUCE!!!! I defy you to find a sauce that combines such rich, deep flavor with mouth scorching spiciness. But as if all that was not enough, the service is by far among the best I've ever had at ANY eating establishment. These guys make you feel like family. Not once have they forgotten my order. On the contrary! They unfailingly remember what tacos I've ordered, what condiments I don't want, etc. They're just super cool, nice people. I always make sure to leave these guys a hefty tip - they certainly have earned it.
Believe me, if you want to truly know what a great taco tastes like, THIS is the place to go. Indeed, it is in moments of repose, after having gorged on four or five tacos de asada, that I think that truly it was worth living if only to enjoy these tacos. I love life!

So this is the infamous taco truck. Had trouble figuring out which of the two taco trucks was the yelper's fave, we settled on the one with more people in front -- afterall, the crowd is indicative in its self.
Arriving with barely any appetite, I chose to only order one asada taco and considering the guy was trying to close early -- it was a Monday night -- I figured I need not waste his taco time.
The taco ended up being moist and flavorful. With two corn tortillas filled with delicious meat and topped off with salsa, lime, cilantro and onions. At 1.20 a piece, amazing late night hours everyday of the week and customer service to boot -- the guy that owns it is soo sweet and attentive -- I will definitely be back to fill those late night taco cravings.

I literally drive over 50 miles to eat tacos at this truck.
When I lived in the neighborhood I drove by this truck almost daily for more than two years. Looking at the line I often thought to myself "Either they are selling drugs there (cheaply) or those are the best damn tacos in the city." The second proved to be the case when I finally put my silly gringo apprehensions aside, pulled over one night and ordered some tacos. I nearly cried thinking about all the tacos I could have eaten in the preceding two years.
This became a regular stop for me and when I got married and brought my wife here, my belief that these were authentic tacos was confirmed. (My wife is what I call a Mexico-Mexican... she was born and raised in Sinaloa Mexico.) We soon had all her sisters, who are scattered across greater Los Angeles, driving to Pasadena on weekends for tacos.
Like water on a stone, my constant blathering about this truck finally convinced a few folks at work who live in the area to try the truck. They came back as if from a religious conversion.
As I mentioned at the outset, though we moved an hour north we still periodically drive back to Pasadena for a taco fix. It not only provides a solid and authentic taco hit to the palate, the asada (2) and al pastor (3) are my favorites (con todo), but helps us recall our salad days in Pasadena.
Hey, it is fun to eat tacos off the trunk of your car while standing in the street!

Trying to explain how wonderful these tacos taste is like trying to describe the smell of the air during the most beautiful sunrise you ever witnessed or the feeling of joy that washed over you at the moment of your greatest achievement. It's impossible to capture in words.
And unless you immediately get up and drive over to this motorized RV of epicurean heaven upon reading this, you'll never understand how delicious a scoop of carnitas with green sauce nustled between two corn tortillas truly can be. It's like roasted enlightenment.
But since I have nothing but words to offer you, I will leave you with the declaration that my wife made after eating her first taco here.

Oh Taco Truck, Taco Truck. How do tacos that come from a big shiny kitchen on wheels taste so good??? I don't know, but I'm not one to question perfection! This mobile taco stand has the best darn carne asada tacos in town. The meat is tender, tasty and piled high and the rojo sauce is spicy make you breathe fire good! They have a less spicy green sauce as well if you can't handle the hot. I've never had it, but I hear the lengua tacos are fantastic too if that's your thing. Late at night, after the bars or a concert, this is the place that will satisfy you. $10 or so will get you six tacos, a couple sodas and a satisfied tummy. No tables here, so you just get your food, put on some tunes and chow down at your car. My only suggestion to them, give out some extra tortillas because after inhaling a plate of tacos there is usually enough loose meat left for at least 2 more!

I grew up in the Bay Area and there was nothing like a taco from the High St. truck in Oakland. In fact, I thought most of the trucks in Oakland blow the Socal ones out of the water. That is, until I ate at this truck. I'm so lucky to live only 5 minutes from it. There is always a huge line, especially after 1am. But the wait's not too bad - maybe 10 minutes or so.
My favorite is the carnitas, although I think their carne asada is pretty good, despite what others say. The sauce is HOT (I usually eat only mild) and the radishes are sooo good - I swear, I could eat a bag full. They're so much better than the ones from the other truck down the street.
Goddamn best tacos, hand down. They are a bit pricier than most places with a price tag of $1.20, but it's absolutely worth it!
The location is convenient, located in front of a auto repair place called Nishikawa Auto, and because of this, on certain days, it will get CROWDED. Night clubbers all come here in the wee hours of the night loading up on dozens of tacos. Because the truck is usually busy, the meat is always fresh. It has the texture where the meat is soft but the outside of the meat is semi-flaky, giving great texture.
The Sauce is amazing too. No sauce from a can. It's all freshly made by scratch. I actually haven't tried the salsa verde, but the salsa rojo is the best one I've had the pleasure to eating. It's spicy, and has this amazing think texture. But it's not needlessly spicy, it's spicy but with tons of flavor. You can actually taste the peppers, onions and spices in the sauce.
Just go and get some damn go tacos. I go every Tuesday between 10:30-12 at night. See the one catch about this place is the hours. Opens at 8 p.m., and closes Monday through Thursday at 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday at 3 a.m. and Sundays and 11 p.m. Perfect for late night grubbing or a meal after a movie

Battle of the Taco Trucks --- Battle #1
In one corner we have Tacos "El Gallito" and in the other corner we have El Taquito Mexicano.
These taco trucks are literally walking distance from one another, both located on the east side of Fair Oaks Blvd., south of Colorado. I
