I'm a huge fan of El Faralito that is down the street from this place, so a couple Friday's ago I took some coworkers to El Faralito for lunch, but we go there too late and they were packed.  So we started looking for somewhere else to eat and saw El Taco Sabroso Grill, and discovered a hidden gem in Old Town Placentia.  El Faralito may have the reviews, but El Taco Sabroso is just as good at what they do when it comes to just plain ol good Mexican Food.

In my two visits I've got a combo plate both times, and for the price of 7.95 it's a huge meal.  The carne asada quesadilla is delicious and the taco dorado's have just the perfect amount of crunch.  Now I usually only go back to a Mexican restaurant if I their chips and salsa are good, I'm going to tell you they are some of the best.  The salsa has a nice spicy kick but I love the flavor.  It's a little runny, but it coats the chips perfectly.

If you are looking for a huge meal, try the torta, the thing is bigger them most peoples head!

I'm not going to tell you either Sabroso or Faralito is better then one another, but I'm going to tell you that you need to go to them both.  They compliment each other perfectly.

This place deserves to be considered when you are in the vicinity!

You know those places that you want to take friends you've just met? This place is awesome for that.  They will be impressed and think you know your stuff!  And then they will want to remain being your friend!  How cool is that?

El Sabroso is this ultra rad little place in the heart of Old town Placita Santa Fe (d-town placentia!) owned by the Zamayoas.
The Menu is huge with a great selection of awesome tacos, burritos, plates, soups, stews. beverages and on.

They give you free chips and salsa --come on now! FREE

Mega Recommendations:
Barbacoa Beef Burrito (wet if you want)
Carne Asada Burrito
Carne Asada Plate
Pollo taco (get the hardshell, its on the back of the menu)

Prices are really decent and with their bangin' Latino jukebox jams you'll be sure to come back!

I had the very delight pleasure of trying out this place. After turning to  "Yelp" for some dining help, I found great reviews/suggestions. However,  my friend and I were actually trying to get to El Farolito.  My friend and I had to take a detour, because S. Bradford Ave was blocked off. We went around and parked near a restaurant, which we thought  was El Farolito. It wasn't till after dinner we realized it was El Sabroso Grill.  However, the food was marvelous.  The atmosphere made me feel like I was back in the the town (Poplar, California) I was raised in. There was real Mexican Juke Box style music.  A family was occupying the middle/center table of the restaurant. They accepted Plastic. The food was great. Salsa and chips where perfect: Not oily, not greasy, just crispy in the right way. Salsa: spicy & hot but not extreme. My friend and I split our dishes. I ordered the Combo Chicken Ensalada meal, and he got the Combo Chicken Flataus meal. We both shared the beef carnitas dish.  The beef carnitas are to die for: meat is tender, not greasy, but juicy in the right way. THE FOOD is as authentic as you can get without being in Mexico.  The atmosphere was great. I LOVED THE EXPERIENCE!
