Your quintessential taco hole. Since I've working in the Norwalk area, I've introduced to many such places (Rancho Grande and Diana's), but Taco Rico is the one we keep going back too. The only thing that I'm disappointed by is the long line at lunch time. The chicken caesar salad, carne asada burrito and sopes, and chicken enchiladas never disappoint.

Contrary to popular belief, a TORTA is not just a large girl. It is a also a Messican sandwich (or sammich, F- you, Yelp Word Gestapo) and this place just happened to pretty much perfect it. The chicken torta here is really friggin good. Grilled chicken, with refried beans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado served on a bolillo. If I were to ding this torta, I would say that they should put just a skosh more chicken, but I'm gluttonous that way. The next time you're vacationing in Norwalk, you have to duck in to this place.

Never had a bad meal here.
If you dine in, you are served chips and salsa (always a good thing).
I always rate Mexican joints by their carne asada and refried beans. El Taco Rico does both very well.
This is as authentic of a Mexican food as you are going to get.
Heard this place is always packed at lunch and have line through the door for pickup or to-go orders. We stopped by one evening when my bosses suggest this place. (I guess they ran out of buffet ideas)
The restaurant's decor is like a school cafeteria. The ambiance is like a any one star restaurant you may have encounter. Filthy..not really. Clean...ai ya. Service...well you ordered at the counter, you paid at the register, and they call your number for the food. Nothing really special about that.
Their burritos and enchiladas are to die for. If the food disagree with you, it's worse than going to Albertaco. It's a real big time hit and miss with this place because they do serve the food really cheap, but some of the menu items are either delicious or just plain nasty.
So far, I have gotten the tips from certain pals of my bosses in what to order. We stick it by the easy choices of a normal beef burritos. The big plus to this place was the chips that comes with the meals are good. The soup are not bad at all either.
Oh, there's a beef I have with them. The refills in drinks are not free. I believe you can refill it for 50 cents or 75 cents. I can understand for the to-go orders, but not for dine in. There's about a likely hood that I enjoyed the horchitas, and then to find out that I have to pay for the refill before my order was ready. That happened to me before and it blows.
An authentic Mexican place that is a tad better than getting it off the roach coach or the street vendor.
