They bbq pork burritos are very best tasty and so giant like fat american baby arm. meat and other ingredients ratio heavy on meat side and still cheap cost. i had yummy nachos too before and very large portion so ridicurous i cannot finish them all. usuarly  i eat everything on plate but that time i must save for later time and nachos not so crispy and scrumptious when saved until later time drunk night.

Since there are so many Mexican restaurants within even a one block radius of this place, it's only worth considering El Taco Loco (ETL) relative to its alternatives. I'll compare it to El Farolito, the nearest of these alternatives (I've never been to Taqueria San Jose).

Price: El Farolito wins.  Burritos looked a bit pricey at ETL, but (to be fair) they were enormous.

Friendliness: ETL wins, maybe just because El Farolito is a madhouse with customers most of the time.

Salsas: I prefer ETL's, especially since they have a little more variety.

Ingredients:  El Farolito by a long shot. Good marinades at ETL, but the tortillas and cheese at El Farolito are the best I've had in SF.

Summary: El Farolito is a better deal and tastes a little better, but if the line is out of control (as it is much of the time), ETL is a nice alternative.

my favorite tacos in town. yelpers don't lie on this one. i used to stay away because of the lack of customers compared to lines outside cancun and farlito. i thought something must be wrong. something's wrong with you, you non-el taco loco lover.

If you do not want meat in your food you come to the right place. I ordered a chicken taco and a burrito. the taco was scrawny and it had more onion than meat, and the burrito was devoid of meat. I was basically served a bean and rice burrito. A taco around the corner has more than twice the meat my skinny burrito had (a Baby Burrito Around the corner is bigger). The taco was awful. A minuscule amount of meat drowned in hot sauce and onions, it literally had more onions than meat. I spent over $10.00 and I left hungry. I will never go there again

This place gets one star for having a Cantinflas mural.

http://static.px.yelp....

The food is a 3.5 of 5 but slightly pricy for a burrito. I paid about $6 but it was definitely worth it  for a carne asada burrito.

Their horchata was damn tasty.

Not the cleanest place in the world but definitely not a problem.

I recommend parking in the public lot across the street.

$6.60 for super/wet burritos. Btw, mojado is the same as wet... avoid these abominations at all costs - they are loaded with gooey, melted cheese, oversaturated sauce, and overall make for a messier-than-normal eating experience.

I got the 4.90 regular burito instead. Did you know they don't charge tax, so booyeah! Yeah, you heard me! Their beverages linger around the range of 1.50 for a medium.

Extra pros to this beautiful placement are its spaciousness, cleanliness, brightness, and immediate proximity to the 24th St BART station.

ok, the other great place for an al pastor super burrito in the city. but really, what makes this place tits is that they give you SO MUCH FOOD!  and for decent prices too!  i mean, their burritos are f-in' huge!  and damn good too!  i can vouche for their nachos too, and i know we've had other stuff, but yeah, definite quality taqueria goodness!

I mean it wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't anything special.

We came here to try another taco instead of drunkenly going to the magic of El Farolito. There was talk of another place having something similar to the avocado green sauce, but alas it was nothing but a rumor.

Three of us shared two veggie tacos. They were OK, but nothing like the wonderful mess that is EF.

The place is pretty clean, & the people were nice, but nothing to write home about. Just yelp about.

Their chips are really wonderful though.

If you're looking for the best Burrito spot in the Mission, don't even bother going anywhere else. I;m a burritophile myself, and have searched the SF landscape high and low for the bet burrito and Horchata. It's this place.
They also have a damn good juke box with Shakira and mariachi rockin' on it at high volume. Very kind and efficient service, perfect size, atmosphere, and food.

The shrimp burritos, salsa, and chile verde are the perks. Checkitout.

Taco Loco is a serious contender for King of the Cage.  I'm talking about a two-men-enter-one-man-leave Taqueria Titan.  My taq. triumvirate also includes Taq. San Francisco and Taq. Guadalajara, all on 24th St.   If you like one of these, you probably will like them all.

Hits:

1)  Pork products: a rotating spit of al pastor and about 10 lbs. of carnitas under hot lights greet you upon entering.  I'd much rather see that than some name-tagged uber-chipper hostess any night of the week.

2)  Burritos are consistently excellent in every way.  I usually order a super al pastor with black beans and no sour cream.  The tortilla is almost always well grilled and served hot with abundant melted cheese.  The meat is the star of the show, taking up almost two-thirds of the insides.  Beans and rice play a supporting role, like a Black Sabbath bass line.

Veggie-wise, the fresh and spicy pico de gallo mixes with the gloppy (in a good way) guac to trick your brain into thinking that you're eating something almost healthy.  Almost.  The well-barbecued pastor is not exactly the leanest of meats.

Even on an off night, the worst I've had has been a 4-star burrito -- only a little bigger than average, a few shreds of unmelted cheese, and other minor whinings.

But on a night like tonight, the stars were aligned for the eclipse, and the forearm-sized super-hot multi-hyphenated giant-killer brought much-needed closure to a long work day.

3)  Carrot products: excellent (albeit a bit pulpy) carrot juice, and even better (and plentiful) spicy carrots.  I'm turning orange, and I fucking love it.  The salsa verde and pico de gallo are good, too.

Misses:

1) Like many taquerias, the chips are only factory-fresh.  Tonight they were a bit stale.  But do you really go to a taq. for the chips?

2) The place occasionally smells like some strong fresh-scented industrial cleaner.  Such is life near the 24th and Mission BART.   At least you know they're keeping it clean -- they consistently wash their hands here, particularly before throwing carrots into their huge juicer.  That's a plus.

They definitely stuff you full of meat.  Pretty clean and usually empty, not scary for a taq.

I used to live right above this place (as in, the window directly above the facade was my bedroom).  I'll admit that I was often under one influence or another when partaking in El Taco Loco's delicious chorizo burritos, but that should only dampen my 5 star review by about half a star.  Since there is no option for "half a star", I have to give this deliciously meat-heavy burrito a 5* rating.  Similarly, the super chorizo breakfast burritos are packed full of spicy meat and guacamole and sour cream.  It makes me feel like a champion.

Bonus points for taking credit card!

My rating is an average of the three times I have eaten here.  While house-sitting in the mission this week, I had a ridiculously huge amount of options for my post-work burrito fix.  I stopped into El Taco Loco 2 on a whim and got a veggie burrito.  It was delicious and big enough to save half for lunch the next day, what a deal!

The next day I went back for veggie burrito #2, it was good but not as good as the one from the day before.

Two days later, starved and heading home down 24th st again, I stop in one last time for my third veggie burrito.  It was downright yucky.  The salsa/lettuce to bean/rice ratio was way off and it was so soggy I had to put it in the toaster oven to crisp it up enough to be palatable.

Overall, I have only experienced the veggie burrito.  My friend who ate there with with me had a shrimp burrito and loved it, however.

Go at your own risk, maybe the meatstuff is better?

Great veggie burritos, and the price is affordable. I usually grab one on the way to 24th St. BART, and am seldom disappointed.

Clean facilities, friendly staff.

My friend and I were seeing Sugar and Gold at 12 Galaxies.
We got hungry while walking to BART from the show, and decided to get a veggie burrito at this place.

Okay, the burrito was great.  Only problem is we forgot to ask for no cheese and no sour cream as I am (sadly) lactose intolerant.   Anyways, I ate the majority of my half anyways, avoiding what dairy products I could.  I also had a BUNCH of peppers.

We decided to go back to 12 galaxies afterwards, and all of the sudden, while walking down mission street, I get sick.
Not just once but about five times.

2 stars because I don't know if it was the place's fault or mine. :[

We stopped here after running some errands because we were famished. The food was great. I had a super burritos, which was honestly one of the best I've ever had. My wife had the chicken super tacos, which were also delicious. The service was excellent and fast. They kindly let me mix Asada and Chorizo and delivered the food to our table. Also seem to have quite a few specials every day.

It's a bit pricey for the area and the salsa bar could use an upgrade (the salsa too). But the food itself was fantastic. Good portions with enough for both of us left over for dinner the next night.

I love taqueria murals. I especially love when the food is personified in the murals. Baby papusas holding hands, tortas with mustaches and six shooters, etc. Ah, I love it all. One of the best things about El Taco Loco is the mural outside the building. Wait, first of all, it's not right out front, it's on the side of the building that faces the 24th St. BART, above where the roof of Carlos' Club ends. Look up next time you're in the area. So this mural, it's a jalapeno with a gun chasing after a frightened taco. The jalapano looks like a bad ass and the taco looks like a nerd, meaning he has glasses. I wonder why they call it El Taco Loco when the jalapeno is obviously the crazy one. I want to know that story.
So, El Taco Loco, the food is pretty good. The al pastor is nice and satisfying. There is a salsa bar with some hot salsas. The place is clean. The price is good. It's way better than El Farolito's and there's no line out the door. They pack the tacos with meat. Oh, and it's right next to BART, not to mention Carlos' Club. Carlos' Club always reminds me of that part in Gremlins where they take over the bar Phoebe Cates works at. I'm not sure why, maybe because that bar seems so festive and the movie takes place at Christmas time. Either way, El Taco Loco gets my vote.

This place rocks!!  Cheap food without the side effects of upset stomach.  Twenty dollars actually WILL feed your hungry being at this place.  Hell, $20 might be all you need for You and Your date.  The food is tasty, and cheap.  What else is there to life?

Quality, quality food, great service, and a generous kitchen. A pound(usually more) of Carnitas or Buche all chopped up and ready to go with hot tortillas & all the fixins you want goes for a measly 10 clams, OTD, here. I dare you to find a better deal! On your way to your homeboy/girl's pad, stop by Foods Co for a 30 pack of Tecate and you and 9 of your friends got yourself a sweet pachanga for under 30 bucks. I wouldn't steer ya wrong!

The best tacos, and tostados you can get! Cheaper than most chains even but much better quality.

One of the Top 5 San Francisco taquria's, and there is never a long line unlike Farlito around the corner. Carnitas Mmm so good, Carne Asada is juicy! and they toast their burritos to perfection. Big, spicy and have a great finish! Next time your in line at Farlito, head around the corner. By the way the grilled pollo is all white meat and the boiled is dark.
