Amazing food! This place is the Cuban gem of Passaic, NJ.
As out-of-towners, we were a little concerned about the location of this incredible find, but we sucked it up and have never looked back.
The portions, service and prices are incredible. -

The appetizer for 4 was delicious. My Moro was dry steak was delicious. The waiter service was terrible we had to keep asking him for things that a waiter should bring. And their credit card machine was down no sign was posted and we weren't informed. Won't be going back there again. Terrible waiter service

The day we went they ran out of pernil for the cuban sandwich. It was somewhat disappointing. Hopefully we'll have better luck next time. So call in to make sure they have what you are looking for.

I went here for lunch and didn't find this place all that great. The soup was clearly canned condensed soup dressed up with some real chicken which set the pace for the rest of the meal.
I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a croquete sandwich. Nothing amazing and pretty average but not heated all the way through like I like it.
Yuca with mojo was complete garbage full of oil and quickly was sent back and removed from the bill with no issue.
Overall the place is very cute inside and the surrounding area leaves a bit to be desired. -

Went on a Friday night for dinner. Warning, I would not recommend women going to this restaurant alone since its location seemed to be a less than safe area.
I never had Cuban food before so I cannot judge the food compared to Cuban food but I can make some general comments. We started with an appetizer sampler which consisted of 4 or 5 different things. A few balls of rice/grain with meat mixed in, several different pieces of pork, some fries and some other things. I found it to be ok. I'm sure if I was accustomed to the food I would have appreciated it more but I found the meat to be greasy and the rice balls to be a little funky - again, probably typical Cuban fair.
I ordered "Garlic Shrimp" and the other diner ordered another shrimp dish. Both were good. The portion of shrimp was not great, but the price was relatively low so I cannot complain. The shrimp were tasty, and came with a iceberg salad and some rice.
I probably won't return to this restaurant but not because of the restaurant, I just don't think I care for Cuban food. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. -

All I have to say is "WOW" when talking about El Sol. This was the first place I ever experienced latin food of any kind. It was back in 1995 and I've been hooked ever since.
I've only eaten there once. The service was unbelievable. Whether it is eat in or take out, they treat you good.
And the food, okay, the food is just to die for. I've had their pollo asado, tostones, plantano madoro, cubano sandwich, empanadas, bistec, arroz moro and every other kind of rice they have.
Anything you order from this restaurant will NOT dissapoint you. It is a must try and you will fall in love and keep coming back time after time to this haven.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Review from Denisse A.
Woonsocket, RI
I lived right down the street from this place- and I have to admit the neighborhood is not the best but once you go inside El Sol De Cuba you will love it! The food is very authentic and the service is outstanding. My family and I loveee cuban culture so we had to try out this restaurant! I had the ropa vieja and it was like nothing I ever had! If you are in the Passaic (Northern Jersey Area) you have to swing by here!

Terrific and authentic Cuban fare. Really good.
Big portions - crazy amounts of garlic on some dishes. Wash everything down with an ice cold cerveza. -
